53: Seven Stars of Marvel
Fanfic
The destruction of the Infinity Stones at the hand of Thanos was… not good. Very bad, in fact. You see, not only were the Stones the pure expression of the fragment of nature they represented, they were also the linchpins that held those scraps of reality together. There destruction guaranteed the destruction of that corner of the Marvel Universe. No stopping or slowing it; it was game over, man!
IF… nature didn't interfere.
Far away, in a fantasy world, seven normal people suddenly appeared, summoned by a King of it to fight off… some catastrophe. Nothing new there, really. When they were summoned, they each were supposed to have a sigil of light appear in the air above them. That sigil would tell their area of expertise, and its size and glow would indicate the power level they were called with. The whole court waited with baited breath to find out what their heroes would be like, and they were NOT disappointed! When the ritual was complete, a rainbow smashed down from the sky, one light resting on each character. Violet Power, a short, but solidly-built, young woman, had the symbol of a psychokinetic appear above her head, and she had the raw power to change the world… but she wasn't very good at applying it. She was the impressive one. Blue, a rather interested-looking, but scruffy, teen boy, had the symbol of… a backpack and an empty field. Most agreed this meant he was a hobo, which fit his look quite well. Green, A very scholarly-looking young gentleman had a watch and its tool floating above his head. No-one had any idea why a clockmaker would be so powerful. The strange-looking fellow under Yellow, however, was just disturbing, as he had a weird shifting brain above his head. Orange, a goth girl, had a ghost in it, which was weird, because all ghost-based skills were normally black, grey, blue, or green. The moderately pleasant-looking girl with red cascading around her had a picture of the world over her head, and again, no-one had any idea what she was supposed to represent. The oddest, however, had only a smaller version of himself floating over his head, with another above that image, and another, and so on. Worse, when the powerometer (patent pending!) that the court wizard scanned them with was examined, they all rated as just above peasant level. Useless, that is. Disappointed, the court launched them to a random place across space-time and tried again. It wasn't the first time this had happened, after all. They were on their tenth summoning that day!
Eventually that kingdom summoned a group of psychopaths, gave them powers with the summoning ritual, and was destroyed, but let us follow the group. If the kingdom that had summoned them could see them, they would have been shocked. Not only as the group still glowing (and, given the fact they were no longer on the planet that gave them powers, that shouldn't be possible), the glow hadn't even dimmed. In fact, it was a point of contention for the first week they were together that the glow STILL HADN'T FADED, making it hard to sleep. It went away, but gradually.
Even stranger, they found themselves in a pocket dimension with a mansion, a library, a training grounds, and nothing else. Oh, and a plaque that read 'Welcome, Chosen Ones! Due to a universe's prime anchors being destroyed, you were chosen to fill in! Please spend some time learning and reading here before you adventure begins! Learn the source of your powers for a bonus!'
Three weeks passed, and the group was… not doing to hot. Most of them (except for Indigo) had unlocked their powers. Each was training, but no-one was making any ground. Indigo spent his time in the library to get over his disappointment at not getting kick-ass abilities like the others. Red was learning to shape the world around her, and having trouble stopping. Purple's ability kept destroying things (thankfully, the dimension repaired itself), Blue kept randomly showing up in weird places whenever he fell asleep, Green kept freezing up for hours on end (he swore time was futsy, but no-one else noticed) and Yellow and Orange kept having odd emotional outbursts at random times for random reasons. But, after a full month, Indigo (who was very much a nerd) figured it out.
Needless to say, as young adults or teenagers, they were all pretty stoked to find out they were replacement Infinity Stones! As soon as they found out, training sped up.
Indigo, however, is the one we want to focus on. If this was a story, he would be the MC. His power was the power of the Infinity Stone there was only ever one of. Each Marvel Universe had its own Infinity Stones for Time, Space, Power, Soul, Mind, and Reality, but there was only ever ONE Ego stone. What power did it bear? As long as the self-image was consistent, it was true. Even the Reality Stone lacked this power, as it was vastly weakened outside its home dimension, but this one gifting meant that Indigo had no limits he didn't set for himself, a clear understanding of everyone around him in both powers and personality, and unlimited potential.
On the first day he trained with his powers, he was sure he could do one-hundred push-ups. He did. The double that the next day. And triple the third. In the course of a month, he was a peak normal human, and a skilled martial artist. At three months, he was tougher than steel, quicker than a cheetah, a martial arts grandmaster, and he awakened his Haki. At six, his 'Perfect Style' martial art was done and he could use ki and chi. When the year the pocket dimension was opened ended, he was as strong as Whitebeard, as skilled at martial arts as two hundred Ryozanpaku schools stacked on one another, and had better skill at ki, chi, and chakra usage than all the greatest Elemental Nations Ninja and Samurai combined (minus bloodlines, or course. Those took special care. Not like he needed them.)
Each of his companions strengthened massively, as well. As to there abilities, use your imagination, but they trained against Indigo, and he against them. When they finally left the pocket dimension, they were all at a level that 75% of worlds wouldn't be able to touch. And that was just the BEGINNING!
It might be a bit before they reach Marvel, but they'll be ready for when they do!
