54: Harry Potter: How to Unnaturally get Natural Magic

Fanfiction

Harry woke up with a start, his head still groggy as he tried to think through his pounding head in order to figure out what had happened to him this time. He was also extremely surely about it. Couldn't he get a damned break! One might be a bit inclined to cut him some slack for his attitude after the roller coaster his time in wizard's school; what with dealing with the PHILOSOPHER'S STONE in his first year (something so famous, even the normals knew about it!), killing a basilisk in his second, and offing Voldemort both times! This year, though? That had taken the cake!

Mad convict on the loose. Not a basilisk, not a problem. Werewolf for a teacher… pissed him off, but honestly, the guy meant him no harm, and he WAS a good teacher, so he was FAR better than the last two years' teachers, both of whom had also almost killed him, and both of whom were incompetent teachers. But this year, the government had sent him aid!

In the form of uncontrollable, soul-sucking monstrosities that had almost killed him at least four times. Yeah, they government's 'help' had been the real threat this year, especially since the 'bad guy' was, in fact, his oath-sworn, innocent godfather, and the ACTUAL villain had been his roommate's pet rat.

Still, it worked out, mostly. Godfather was clean away, rat managed to escape, but was on the run, wolfy got fired (Harry liked him, and loved him as a teacher, but the were HAD bit him, so…), and the demons were removed from the castle. Ony, they weren't.

Harry, having been bitten by a werewolf during the full moon, had slipped away, one month after his bite, to the Forbidden Forest in an attempt to find out, in a safe environment, if he had been turned. Sure, he could have just told someone and been tested, or something, but his trust of the authorities was… wasn't, and given that the ability to speak to snakes had gotten him named a dark lord just the last year, he was gonna keep any potential infection on the down-low until it became pertinent. If he was a were, he had faint ideas of moving in with his godfather on a private tropical island. He had just been in the process of turning… when a dementor had swooped in and started sucking his soul out. In rage, he tried to… well, he tried to eat it. And, as it turned out, succeeded. After that, he passed out, and woke up in the infirmary.

He sighed to himself. So, he was a were. Shame, that. In between the times he had almost died, he had rather come to like Hogwarts. Ah, well! Living with his godfather was going to be great, and his chances of survival were looking up!

That when he noticed something. His head was still clearing up. It had cleared up a little, letting get a grip on his surroundings and recent history, but it hadn't stopped. In fact, he found his thoughts clearer now than ever before, and they were still improving. In a flash, he was at a nearby mirror, amazed with three things. One, he was BUFF! All his malnutrition, weakness, and other issues (except his hair and his weak, but much better, vision) were GONE! Two, SO WAS HIS CURSED SCAR! Yes, the mark was still (faintly) there, but it was barely a white mark, not the angry red scar it had been before. On top of that, HE WAS COVERED IN TATOOS! What the HELL had happened to him?

A.N. So consuming the Dementor as a half-changed werewolf evolved into a Warg skinchanger, as well as activated all the magical potential of his blood and the things added in to his blood. Basically, in DnD terms, he has just gained a fourth-level sorcerer/druid class alongside his fourth-level HP-World Wizard Class. I see it as Level 3 spells being the graduating Hogwarts level, Level 4 as professional, Level 5 as impressive, and Voldemort and Dumbledore being at Level 7, with Harry being the only one with a shot at Level 10 thanks to his new powers. Feats would look a little something like this (at least, this is a rough idea of them). I did my best to be original, make him powerful, not OP him too much, and still make it balanced, and I think I did okay at that.

WIZARD Feats:

Spellcaster: Get access to the spell-casting ability. Since this is Harry Potter, not DnD, replace material requirements with a wand and an attunement cost. You must spend a certain amount of time and effort (determined by Proficiency) attuning to any spell in order to have it 'on-tap', but you can cast any spell you are attuned to as often as you want until you run out of stamina.

Wizard Bloodline (X3): Get access to a branch of magic at which you will naturally excel thanks you your ancestors. Attunement cost for these spells cut by 75%. Gain one flaw for each attunement. (Attunements: Defense, Flying, Parselmagic. Flaws: Messy Hair, Bad Eyesight, Lucky Target.)

Magical Resistance (Lesser): While it won't let you shrug off spells at will, it will let you ignore certain lesser spells. Any muggle-grade magic can be overcome, at will by you.

SORCERER Feats:

Bloodline of the Chimera (Artificial): Your bloodline is not natural. Rather, you obtained it through chance and magics and the rolling of twenty Nat-Twenties in a row. This feat makes you have a minimum of fifteen in each stat (ten is normal), and your new max is thirty. Each element of your Bloodline adds ONE major trait and up to THREE lesser. You can have up to SEVEN elements. ELEMENTS: Basilisk (Poison Immunity(M), Corruptive Body Fluids(L), Petrification on touch at will (L), Extrasensory Perception (L)); Phoenix (Natural Healthiness(M), Regeneration(L), Flame Resistance(L), Arial Adeptness(L)); Possessed Book (Manifestation of Record(M), Self Possession(L), Indelible Record (L), Potent Ink (L)); Philosopher's Stone (Natural Magic (M), Enduring Vigor (L), Pleasant Appearance (L), Potent Reagent (L)); Dementor (Soul Digestion(M), Toggleable Fearful Presence (L), Toggleable Ethereal Form (L), Soul Sense (L)); Horcrux (Split Soul (Unapplicable), Evil Magic (Unapplicable), Possession (Unapplicable), Unorthodox Body (Unapplicable)); Alpha Werewolf (Beast Shifter(M), Moonlit Warrior (L), Boosted Senses (L), Pack Leader (L))

Natural Magic: A few words, some ingredients… a WAND! Hell, no! I want it, magic makes it happen! Gain access to Sorcerous Spellcasting! It takes more effort than normal, but the effect? Worth it!

Tattoo Warrior: Your beastly blood and the ink in your veins gives you a unique opportunity: you are now a natural Rune Warrior! Learn to control the ink on your skin, and you can turn it into tattoos. Use your magic, and those tattoos become reality! For a little bit anyway. Can also be used to print rune schemes on your skin for similar results. WARNING! Screwing up a rune scheme can have ALL the bad effects! Current tattoos: Lily Potter's Protective Mobile and Living Blood-Attuned Ward Scheme, Wolf Totem.

SPECIAL Feats:

Walking Wardstone: Your mother's genius has made you into a Level-5 blood-attuned wardstone. With time and effort, you can take control of this and use it to your advantage, setting up wards as you please. Be warned, however, of two little things. If someone gets your blood and knows the necessary magic, they can control or ignore your wards, and if you don't gain control of them before you are eighteen, the wards will break and fade. This also puts stress on your magical core. Do NOT overstress your core until you have taken five years to acclimatize to this change. Failure to do so will crush all your magic, except for this. If you do not, however, your magical power, endurance, and aptitude will all go up a notch until so time as the wards collapse.

Brilliance Unlocked: Your new nature, the things consumed to get you here, and the spells of you mother and bloodline of your father have all combined to make you a natural at magic. True, you won't instantly know everything about magic, but with your sorcerer class, you won't need to! Put in the effort, warp the world around you! Unlocks Eighth through Tenth level spell slots.

Natural Arithmetist: You might not be as gifted at other magics, but you have a real talent for spell design and research! All effort in this area gains four times the results, and you are more likely to stumble into the correct answer.

And just to be clear: the Dementor Essence gives him the ability to digest souls, not eat them, so it only works if someone tries to possess him. and yes, the horcrux does nothing but take up a slot and do squat.
