59: Buffy the Vampire System
Fanfic

A young man wakes up one morning to find himself transmigrated as an orphan to a big-name, big-danger superhero world. Worse, he is… next to useless. Sure, he has some lore, but that's about it. No house (ratty apartment that has just been served an eviction notice on), no job (fired a month previous), no friends or girlfriend, no superpowers, and no talent; honestly, it's no surprise that the original owner of this body committed suicide.

After a day of fretting, trying everything he could think of to activate a gold finger, testing for every talent he could think of, etc., he finally went to sleep… only to wake up in Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Buffy Summers. Confused and a little freaked out at the second sudden world change in a day (and the gender swap, which felt… wrong.), he decided to go along with it… kind of. As a Xan-Man, he decided, just a bit, to shake things up. He didn't shirk from slaying, did a solid job at his work, nailed his first day at school (no social faux pas here!), read some of the Slayer Manual, had an earnest, but mostly unsuccessful, chat with Cordy, and set up better training for Xander and Willow, as well as a saved Jessie. At the end of the first episode, and ironically right before being clobbered by a stone coffin anyway (despite all the changes he had made), he woke up… in a stark white room with a grey screen on the wall. Concerned, but rather a bit excited, he made his way over to the screen and read off it as it filled with text.

Excited, he rushed to find, then navigate to the shop, but it wouldn't let him purchase anything until he read the tutorial. None to happy, but not to pissed, he went to watch it. It was rather basic. Every night, he would enter the training space, where he could exercise and train without disrupting his day. Once a week, he went into a Buffy episode and played it out. Anything he beat as whoever he was in the show, he could summon on the training space as a teacher, a foe, or a pet. As his training went on, he could unlock other functions, like terrain, equipment, and specialist instructors. Everything he beat or met (or was) in the show, would unlock a class, which he could then level up and, at certain milestones, prestige into higher levels (most classes had seven tiers, nine if you counted uninitiated and mastered). Max a classes levels, and you can choose to either prestige or get a new class. Classes that were umastered and unactive would only provide you with (Tier/ Total tiers) of the benefit (Class has seven tiers, I'm tier two, activating another class will let me use 2/7 my total skills, abilities, etc.) Certain Classes had drawbacks (like being undead or a demon), while others had limitations (witches and Slayers were female only, damn it!). He could still buy them, but only to give to others (DAMN IT!).

Still, he was pretty happy over all. BtVS had some dope people, dangerous powers, and interesting foes, and he had a system. Hell, daily necessities and money could be bot for points! One point was ten bucks, so he was making $1500 a day (if his wanted to be dumb and spend all his points on money). Better still, he had no in-world mission and a Fate Screen that hid him from sight for five years!

Almost three years and exactly 144 episodes later, he reached the end of Buffy. His overall score was High-A Ranked, and he had a chance to move on to another series (Supernatural), or prestige Buffy. If he Prestiged, he would get the Hell King class that would let him strip whatever traits he wanted from demons and apply them to himself by maxing out their class, keep his humanity, AND gain the ability to create his own hell and demons in the real world, to whatever specification he wanted and whatever level he was at. However, he would be doing two episodes a week, and the average person would be on the same level as him.

He went for it.

How strong will this player get? And when his five years are up, what sort of waves will he make in his new world? Is he in DC, about to fight Darkseid and Trigon for their territories and powers? Or is Marvel his poison, and Mephisto and Dormammu coming at him? No matter what, it won't be boring!
