A/N: This chapter has been written for a while and I have been waiting excitedly to post it. Looks like today is the day. Enjoy!
They're at a new bar and it's karaoke night. They hadn't realized when they picked it but it's worked out quite well, drunk people singing is always pretty funny, and they've had a few drinks themselves but they're pretty sure they could still blow everyone else out of the water if they got up to do a number, so they do.
The energy between them is electric. They play off each other so well, circling one another as they sing, the crowded room falling away as they focus on each other, and by the end Kurt feels hot and flushed. He's forgotten how intense it can be, singing a duet with someone else. It's something he and Blaine used to do all the time but he can't even remember the last time it happened, and he's missed this, missed how alive he feels when he performs like this, when he has energy like Sebastian's to play off.
And Sebastian's performance was incredible, that's not lost on him, not at all. His voice, the give and take of it all, the way he'd looked at Kurt, well… Kurt had forgotten how good that part could feel, too. How attractive that could be. Because now all he really wants to do is have his way with Sebastian.
"Follow me," Kurt says, and leads Sebastian toward the bathroom, because he's a little tipsy and a lot turned on and he just wants Sebastian right now.
The moment they're through the door they're on each other, Sebastian pushing Kurt back up against the wall and kissing him, pushing his hips into Kurt's, evidently just as turned on as Kurt is. Kurt groans lowly as Sebastian moves to mouth and his neck, and Kurt arches into it, head rolling back against the wall. His eyes flutter open and he notices there's someone else in the bathroom at the sinks, and he really wouldn't care that much at the moment except he thinks the guy is watching them which is really fucking weird, so he looks a little closer and–
It takes him several moments too long to realize that it's Blaine.
He pushes Sebastian away, and Sebastian looks confused and a little annoyed until he turns to see Blaine, too, staring back at them.
The three men stand there for several long moments, staring dumbly at each other, before finally Blaine moves, making his way past them to the door without saying a word.
"Blaine, wait, I can explain–" Kurt starts, moving to follow Blaine.
"You don't have to explain anything," Blaine replies, not turning to look back, and Kurt can tell he's upset even though he's trying to hide it.
"Blaine, I'm sorry, it's not–"
"Kurt, it's fine," Blaine cuts him off, stopping now to turn and face Kurt. "It doesn't matter what it is. You can do whatever you want. You don't have to explain yourself to me."
"We're not– dating, or anything. We're just friends. That's all."
"It didn't look like that's all," Blaine says back a little coolly.
"It's– complicated." Kurt's pretty sure that every word he says is just making this worse – he should have just let Blaine walk away.
"Yeah. I can imagine."
Kurt is about to speak again, not sure what he's going to say but he needs to say something, but then Sam appears by Blaine's side. "Everything okay here?" He's looking cautiously between Blaine and Kurt.
"Yeah, it's fine," Blaine says curtly. "I think we should go."
"You don't have to go," Kurt says, a little pleadingly, because he doesn't want to be the reason Blaine's night is ruined.
"Yeah, I think I do," is Blaine's reply, and then he's walking away again, Sam following suit after throwing a suspicious glance back over his shoulder at Kurt.
He's ruined so many things for Blaine already, what's one more.
As they fade into the crowd between where he stands and the door, Sebastian appears by his side again.
"Everything okay?" His voice sounds cautious, concerned, worried for Kurt but also, maybe, for himself, and Kurt suppresses a grimace because what are they doing, why did he ever think this was a good idea, how could he think this was good for anyone when all he's going to do is hurt everyone. He's not completely oblivious; he sees the way Sebastian looks at him. And he knows the way he looks back, sometimes, maybe against his better judgement. He feels it when Sebastian kisses him, and in the way he kisses back, and he can't help the way he feels and he loves that he feels this and he hates that he feels this.
It was honest when he said it was complicated.
"Kurt?" Sebastian reaches out to touch Kurt's arm, and Kurt turns to blink back at him, realizes he still hasn't answered the question.
"I– I think I need to go."
"Okay. Yeah, let's get out of here," Sebastian says.
"No, I think I need to go home. I, um– I need some time alone."
"Oh," Sebastian says, lets it out like he's deflated a little. "Yeah okay, sure. I'll see you later I guess?"
"Yeah," Kurt agrees with a small nod. "I'll text you."
