Second Chapter of The Last Loud, I hope you enjoy!
DISCLAIMER: I do NOT own The Loud House
When I woke up, I noticed that I still was on Lincoln's bed. He was sleeping deeply in my arms. I smiled, he was so cute when he was asleep. We remained on each other's arms for some moments before I noticed what had just happened. I started trembling that was so, so wrong. I slowly began getting out his bed. How could I do that to him? Oh my god, I felt sick.
I looked down and noticed something else. I got my clothes and quickly dressed myself, trying make any sound and sneakily got my way out of his room. Luckily No one was up yet, so I made my way to the room I shared with Luan, and got on bed before anyone saw me.
Later that day, at what was our breakfast, which was just a ration bar for each one, everyone was quiet. I looked at Lincoln. He was also looking at me, I had to look away. I may have been acting strangely, as Luan spoke up.
"What's wrong Luna? You BARely ate your food bar! Hehe! Get it?" We all groaned at the pun, save for Lincoln, who just giggled.
"It's nothing Luan, I... Just didn't slept well." I lied, looking at Lincoln.
"Okay... Luan responded. Lori may also have noticed how I was, because she also spoke up.
"Lisa, how's the progress on the greenhouse?" Lisa adjusted her glasses with a smile.
"The plants are growing healthy, in just some weeks we'll have a fresh batch of vegetables to feast on."
"Great!" Lola spoke "I'm getting tired of eating this flavorless bar of nothing." She said forcing herself another bite.
"Oh, I can't way to the soy to be ready to harvest, then, we'll have tofu!" Lynn spoke with enthusiasm. We laughed.
Yeah, maybe living in that bunker wouldn't be so bad... I looked at Lincoln, who was laughing at another horrible pun of Luan. What happened last night, wouldn't ever happen again.
The Last Loud drove the bike through the wasteland, they didn't knew where it was going, but they knew that being in just one spot was too dangerous. They drove the bike through canyums formed by the earthquakes that shook the wasteland from time to time. They passed by a river. That water certainly was dangerous to drink, so they just kept driving.
The figure had to admit that the bike was been very useful so far, they had traveled in just na hour what they took three days to walk. But fuel now was one new thing that they needed to seek after, well, maybe they could do something about it.
Back on the bunker of their family, they had a generator that converted solar energy into energy. Fortunately, the Last Loud knew how that thing worked inside and out, so recreating it and putting on the bike would be... Rather easy.
Yeah, that made their life easier, having an objective made living one more day worth it. It has been some time that they didn't had a objective to live. They just wandered the wasteland aimlessly, just gathering food and water.
With the new objective on mind, the Last Loud smiled under their helmet.
Luna... She had been distant those few weeks, I wonder if it's because what happened that night. I try to not think about it, but it was hard, and he felt that it also was for her...
I was on cleaning duty when Lucy showed up from nowhere, scaring the crap out of me. "What the... Lucy! You can't do that!"
"Sorry Lincoln, but I am worried about you" Lucy spoke with her monotone voice, as usual.
"I... Am all right Lucy, but thanks though." Lucy didn't looked she bought.
"I've been observing you on the past few weeks... Something is clearly bothering you." I bit my lower lip. I can't hide anything from her, but that was something that I absolutely couldn't tell anyone.
"It's just... I'm... Missing mom and dad..." Although it wasn't exactly what was bothering me, it wasn't also exactly a lie, mom and dad where missed everyday by everyone, specially Lori and Lily. I think that Lori, felt like she needed to protect us... Be a mother for Lily, now that...
I think that Lucy bought that, because she lowered her head and stood in silence for a minute.
I don't know why, but I felt in my guts that Lucy needed a hug. And so I did. As I hugged her, I heard low sobs. And she hugged me back.
"Let it out Lucy..." I whispered on her ear, and she started to cry louder. It's hard to remember, with all the morbid talk and creepy interests, she was still a 9 year old little girl. "I'm here Lucy... I'm here..."
"I love you Lincoln..." She whispered.
"I also love you..." I responded.
The Last Loud finally found the first thing they needed to recreate the generator. After some hour of searching the destroyed roads of the wasteland, a destroyed tanker truck, it was tipped over, the windshield was broken, and the skeleton of the driver still in the driver's seat.
Poor soul, it didn't survive the first bomb the last Loud looked inside the cabin for the keys, and found it still on the ignition. They put the key under the hood and lifted it. They were being very lucky lately, the engine was almost intact, one of the pistons was busted, but that could be easily fixed.
After half an hour of work, getting the engine off the chassis, they successfully removed it. After tying the engine to the bike, the Last Loud set off to get the next item that they needed, and that would be a hard one. Still functional solar panels.
Fortunately, based on the plates of the truck, they figure out the place where they were. South of Nebraska, almost on the border, with their calculations the bike should have enough fuel to barely reach Arizona's Solar power plant, Solana Generating Station. Maybe with some detours to try and find more fuel.
And with that, the figure drove off southwest.
I was walking back to my and Lucy's room when I saw her hugging Lincoln. She was crying, but not because of Lincoln. I could see him stroking her hair nurturously. He was comforting her. For a second, I felt a sensation that I should not feel. Envy. Envy of Lucy.
I shook this thought away from my head and approached them. "Oh, How cute!" I said teasing them.
"Hey Lynn..." Lincoln greeted me. "Can you take Lucy back to her room? I need to continue cleaning here." I nodded and grabbed Lucy by the hand.
"Are you good?" I asked my younger sister, she nodded, cleaning her nose with her sleeve. I took a last look at Lincoln with a smile. Being confined with him for so long made me admire him a lot more.
He was so mature for his age, he was the middle man when some of us got on our nerves, was so gentle, and kind and when Lori had a emotional meltdown last week, he was there on her side. God damnit, I was having those thoughts again.
Were those thoughts that made me start blushing when Lincoln talked to me, were those thoughts that made me stay awake at night, were those thoughts that... Made me... Make my underwear damp at night.
Man, I'm a shit sister...
