Chapter 45

(Phoebe's POV)
Tonight is Christmas eve. We are headed over to my parents house. They are hosting Christmas eve and Teddy and Liv are hosting Christmas day. Henry woke up this morning asking for Santa. It was so cute. Right now we are watching Frosty the Snowman and Henry has his eyes glued to the TV. We made Christmas tree shaped pancakes and Henry loved it.
We decorated our tree last night and Nothing made me happier. Henry was so cute putting on the ornaments. I have so many pictures on my phone. After the last stressful week we had with the attempted break in, it is so nice to relax.
We figured out the guy who did it and he is in jail now for attempted breaking and entering. He also assaulted the police officer. It was really scary, and we have upped security around here. This morning I woke up to a little bump. A real little baby bump. I am about 13 weeks so it makes sense. I am going to wear a sweater tonight to hide it.
We are telling my parents tonight, Nathan's Mom and Nana tomorrow morning and then everyone else tomorrow at Christmas dinner. Teddy already knows and has down a great job not telling anyone which is surprising. Usually, he has a big mouth about exciting news.
"Bee," Nathan says and I look over at him. He points at Henry who is asleep on his lap. I smile and say that I will put him down for a nap. We are going to be at my parents late tonight so we are going to let him nap for longer than usual. I pick him up and take him upstairs to his bed. He doesn't even stir when I put him down.
I shut his door aftering turning on his sound machine and head downstairs. Nathan is in the kitchen wrapping a present. I smile and go over patting his back. Bless him the present looks like a 5 year old wrapped it.
"Can I help you?" I ask him.
"Be my guest," he says and I laugh.
"It's for my mom," he says and I nod. It is a homemade pasta machine.
"She'll love it," I smile. I finish wrapping the present and put it to the side.
"We should get ready for tonight while he naps," I say and Nathan nods.
"I have a couple more presents to wrap, why don't you go shower," Nathan says. He is so obviously wrapping mine.
"There are gift bags and tissue paper in the closet," I smile and he laughs.
"Noted," he says and I smile. I head into our bathroom to get ready. I turn on the shower and strip. I look at my body in the mirror. I turn to the side to see my small bump. It is there and I smile. "Hi Bean," I say talking to my belly.
"Bee, which-" Nathan walks into the bathroom to see me fully naked. He smiles and looks at me.
"Wow, I am a lucky man," he says. I laugh and look over at him.
"Look at my bump," I say and turn to the side. He laughs and walks over to me. He goes behind me and puts his hands on my belly.
"I have also noticed these," he says and cups my breasts. I smirk and shake my head turning towards him.
"You had to ruin the moment," I laugh and he winks at me. My boobs have gotten a lot more full and very sensitive.
"Anyway, what were you going to ask," I say as I get into the shower.
"What closet are the giftbags in?" he says and I smile.
"The one by the laundry room," I say and he nods.
"Do you want me to join you?" He asks.
"We'll save that for later," I smirk and he laughs walking out.
I finish up getting ready and Nathan hops in the shower. I am going to use this time to wrap his gift. I got him tickets to March Madness. Ava did the same for Andrew so we are surprising them with a boys getaway trip. I know he is going to be so excited for it. He loves watching basketball. We got Henry a mini basketball hoop.
I wrap both his gifts and put them under the tree. I grab the bottles of wine we are bringing to my parents and the bag that has how we are telling them I am pregnant. We got them each a onesie for the baby that says I love my Nana and I love my Bubs. The names bubs and Nana just stuck after Henry.
Tomorrow we are telling everyone by having Henry wear a shirt that says "Promoted to Big Brother" Everyone is going to be so excited. I hear Henry on the monitor and head upstairs. When I get up there he is already out of bed. I have his outfit laid out.
"Hi buddy," I say and he runs over to me.
"Bee Bee, Nana Bubs house," he says. He has been asking all day.
"We have to get dressed then we can go," I say and he nods. He starts stripping off his pajamas quickly. I laugh because he is so funny. Everything has to be done so urgently.
I put on his red christmas sweater and black pants. I tame his hair and put on his shoes. When he is ready he runs out of the room and over to the gate that blocks the stairs. I hold his hand as we carefully go down the stairs. Nathan is already by the door. We are notoriously late for things now because getting out the door with a toddler is hard.
"You ready?" he asks.
"As I will ever be," I say.
We get Henry in the car seat and head off to my parents. We put on Henry's movie on the screen. It keeps him entertained and happy during car rides. "How do you think they are going to react?" Nathan asks.
"I don't know. I think they are not going to know what to do with themselves," I say and he nods.
"My mom and Nana are going to cry," he says and I laugh. He is right they both are.
We pull up to my parents house and they come outside. Henry sits up trying to break out of his carseat. "Patience," I say to Henry as we park. I get out and walk around to get Henry out of his car seat. As soon as his feet hit the ground he is off running to my parents.
I watch as my dad tosses him in the air and gives him a big hug. My mom kisses his head and waits for us. "Hi guys," she smiles hugging us both.
"Hi," I smile. We head into the kitchen and Henry runs to the living room where the toys are already set out.
"Hi bubs," my dad says. He wraps an arm around me and kisses my head.
"Hi Dad," I say.
"How are you?" he asks.
"I am good, how are you?" I ask.
"Better now that you are here," he smiles and I laugh.
"What can we get you both to drink. We bought half the liquor section at Alfredo's," my mom says and I laugh.
"I am good with water," I say and Nathan says the same.
"Absolutely not you have to have something," my mom says and I smile.
"I am good for now," I say.
"Nathan, will have a glass of sauvignon blanc" I say and he shakes his head.
"So why did you two want to come early?" My dad asks.
"You guys are never early," he says and I laugh.
"Well why dont we go in the family room," I say and they follow us. We all sit around and watch Henry play. He is content with his cars.
"We wanted to give you guys our gift a little early," I say and my mom smiles.
Nathan hands them each their box. My mom's is a light pink and my dad's is a light blue. "You didn't have to get us anything," My dad says and I smile.
"We didn't have an option whether to give you this gift or not," I smile. Baby is coming whether they are ready or not.
Nathan takes my hand as they start to open their present. They both pull out the onesies and look at me with an open mouth.
"No," my mom says and covers her mouth.
"You're pregnant?" My moms says. I nod and laugh. She runs over to me and wraps her arms around me tightly.
"You are? You're pregnant," my mom says and tears run down her face. I nod laughing.
"I am," I say and she wipes her eyes. Her hands go to my belly. Nathan is laughing and taking pictures of them. I look over to my dad and am shocked. He has tears running down his face. He never cries. My mom goes over to Nathan to hug him and I walk over to my dad.
"You're pregnant?" he says and I nod. More tears fall and I start to cry.
"My baby is having a baby," he says and I hug him tightly.
"You are going to be the best mom. You were made for this," my dad says and holds me tightly.
"I am so excited for you to be a Grandpa again," I say and he smiles.
"I am going to be here every step of the way. This baby is going to be so loved," my dad says and I smile.
"When did you guys find out, how far along are you, when do we get to meet this baby," my mom asks a million questions a minute.
"Well, we found out a little more than a month ago. I am 13 weeks, and the baby is due in July," I say and my mom smiles. My dad hugs me again.
"Is it a boy or a girl?" my dad asks.
"We are going to have it be a surprise," I say and my dad smiles.
"It is a boy, I just know it," my mom says and I laugh. She is so funny sometimes.
"Well, we have to get a picture with you and your shirts?" I say and have my parents stand together holding the onesies. I take their picture and smile. I want that printed. It is going in the nursery.
"When are you telling everyone else?" My dad asks.
"Tomorrow at Teddy's we just wanted you guys to know first," I say and they smile. They both wrap me in their arms.
"Me," Henry runs over when he sees the hugging.
I lean down and pick him up. He reaches for my dad and I pass him over. "Do you wanna see Bubs?" I ask Henry. Henry nods and hugs my dad. I laugh and smile at the scene in front of me.
My mom comes over and puts her hands on my belly. "I can't believe it," she says and I smile.
"I know," I say.
"Do you have an ultrasound picture for us?" she asks. I nod and we go over to my purse. I give them both a copy.
"Look Christian," my mom says and they fawn over the little peanut in the ultrasound picture.
"Henry, are you going to be a big brother?" my dad asks as he holds him.
"No pway," Henry says and we all laugh. It was worth a shot.
"We can play," my dad says and takes him over to the living room.
Nathan and I head into the kitchen as more people show up. Everyone is so excited. It is such bright spirits in the house. Nathan has his hand on my back as we talk to Ethan and Kate. Nathan has a glass of wine and I have water.
Henry is loving all the attention he is getting. It is the sweetest sight to see how loved he is by my family. Liv walks over to me and looks adorable as usual. Her hair is curled and she is in a sweater dress. Her bump is huge now. She looks amazing.
"Hi momma," I say.
"Hi Pheebs," she says.
"How is baby G in there?" I ask.
"Kicking up a storm. He is getting evicted on your birthday if he doesn't come before," she says and I smile.
"That would be the best gift ever," I say and she laughs. She rests her hand on her belly.
I head into the living room and sit down. Ava and Berkeley are laughing about something. All of the men in the family are on the floor playing with Henry. I laugh as Henry is running around between all of them giggling.
Suddenly he falls and there is a shrieking scream. Nathan grabs him and picks him up. He is completely fine; he just bonked his head.
"Shhh it is okay," Nathan says. Everyone is silent.
"Hey is fine, guys. We got him," I smile and walk over to where Nathan is standing rocking him side to side.
We go into the formal room on the side. Nathan sways Henry trying to calm him. "You're okay, buddy. Let me see," I say and Nathan turns. He has a little scratch.
"Can Phoebe make it all better?" I ask him and he nods whimpering. I give his knee a kiss and then his cheek a kiss.
"You are okay," I say.
"No moe wunning," he says and Nathan and I both have to stifle a laugh.
"You are right, no more running," I say. Nathan goes to put him down and he grips onto his arms.
"No up," he says and I wink at Nathan. He is okay.
We walk back into the room and my dad is the first to go over to him. He reaches out and my dad takes him. I love the relationship they have. It makes me so happy to see them together.
We have dinner as a family and then hang out in the main room. At around 10 Henry is asleep on my chest and things are winding down. "We should head out," Nathan says and I nod.
We say goodbye to everyone and quietly get ourselves home. It has been such a good day and I am so excited for Christmas tomorrow the love and support we have already received makes me so happy.
"UP UP UP," I hear and open my eyes. Henry is on our bed and throws himself onto the pillows. I laugh as I see Nathan standing behind him. We played Santa Claus last night and put out all the presents.
"Should we go open presents?" I ask Henry.
"Yep," he says and we laugh. We walk out and Henry's face lights up when he sees the stuff. I smile and go to sit down.
"Which one do you want to open?" I ask him. He looks confused. I pass him the box that has Paw Patrol cars. Henry laughs and pats the box.
"You have to open it," I explain. He looks confused. I smile and rip the wrapping paper. Henry gets the job and then goes to rip open the wrapping paper. When he sees the paw patrol he laughs and holds it up. Nathan gets a bunch of pictures of Henry.
"Me," Henry says as I pass him another present. He rips open the wrapping paper happy as a clam. I think his favorite part is opening the gifts.
Nathan passes me a gift. "It's from me and Henry," he says and I smile. I open it and smile. It is a picture of the three of us. It is in a beautiful frame.
"You always complain that we don't have enough pictures around here," he says and I smile.
"Thank you boys," I smile and kiss their heads. I pass Nathan his gift. It is the march madness tickets.
"No way Bee," he syas and smiles.
"Andrew got the same ones," I say and he laughs. The boyish grin on his face is not lost on me.
Henry opens the rest of his gifts then plays in the wrapping paper as Nathan sets up the new tricycle. We push it, but he can pedal his legs and steer. He is so excited about it. NAthan got me a massage and a pregnancy pillow. I am watching them play and it makes me so excited. Little bean will be here for our next christmas together.
"Bee, why don't you go get ready while we play," Nathan says and I nod. I kiss him and Henry's head then go shower. This has been our schedule with Henry. One of us plays while the other gets ready.
I shower and curl my hair. I put on makeup and put my jewelry on. As I am finshing getting dressed I hear the pitter patter of Henry feet. I smile as he runs into my closet and wraps his arms around my legs.
"Hi Hen," I say and he says hi.
"Bath," he says and I smile as Nathan comes in.
"I said he could take a bath in the big tub," Nathan says.
"Okay, while we do that you take a shower," I say. Henry rips off his shirt and starts to take off his pants.
"Tubby," he says and I smile.
"Okay let's go buddy, then we are going to Teddy's," I say and Henry runs into the bathroom.
I have Henry in the tub and I turn the jets on. I laugh as they push him back and forth. He loves being in the tub. I give him his sharks to play with. "Bee," Henry says.
"Yes, baby?" I ask.
"Bubs and Teddy," he is asking if my dad will be at Teddy's.
"Yes, Bubs will be at Teddy's and Nana and bear," I say and he claps his hands. He is so stinking sweet. I pull him out and wrap him in a towel. I go upstairs and dress him in his big brother shirt. I put a sweater over it. I got a couple of pictures in his big brother shirt.
"Okay, you ready?" I ask him. He nods and I pick him up. We go downstairs and Nathan has everything ready to go.
"I want a picture of the two of you," Nathan says. I smile and bend down to Henry. Nathan smiles at his phone. Nathan even gets Henry to kiss my cheek for one.
"My new lockscreen," he says and shows me the sweet picture.
We head over to Teddy's house. I am so excited to see it. They built it on a lot they bought. It is about 10 minutes from my parents house. We pull up and I am in awe. They did a nice stone and dark grey outside. The driveway is paved and it looks amazing.
"Wow," Nathan says.
"Yeah," I say and we park. I grab our bag and Nathan picks Henry up and carries him.
"I love the stone," I say and Nathan agrees. We walk inside to my parents and Teddy.
"Bub," Henry yells and squirms in Nathan's arms. Nathan lets him down and he runs over to my dad. My dad hugs him tightly. My mom bends down and gives Henry a hug.
"Henry, what did Santa bring you?" Teddy bends down asking him.
"Car and twuck," Henry tells him, jumping up and down. He is a little energizer bunny today.
"Car and truck? Wow," he says and I smile at their interaction. More people come in. Claire and Susan come in and I go over greeting them. Susan is a beautiful woman in her mid forties. She works as a chemist for a formula company. She brought her boyfriend, who surprisingly enough used to work with Elliot.
"Hi Pheebs," Claire says hugging me.
"Hi Sweet girl, Merry Christmas," I say and she thanks me.
"Is Nathan here?" she asks looking around.
"Yes, he took Henry to the bathroom," I say and she nods.
"We actually have a little something for you," I say and go over to my bag. We got her a Tiffany charm bracelet. I pass it to her and she opens it.
"Phoebe-" she says and smiles.
"I don't know what to say, I love it," she says.
"I am so glad, we love you," I say and I feel a hand on my hip. I turn to see Nathan.
"Hi Bear," Nathan says hugging her. I smile as I watch them reunite. I watch as Claire hugs Nathan very tightly. Nathan looks at me and I give him a concerned look.
"How have you been?" Nathan asks her. She pulls back and looks at us both. Something is up with her.
"Um okay, how have you guys been?" she asks and breaks eye contact.
"We've been good, why just okay sweetpea?" I ask her.
"No no, I mean good," she says.
"What's going on, Bear?" Nathan asks her. She looks at him with concern in her eyes. I see a tear threaten to fall as she rubs her eyes.
"William just got here, I should go say hi," she says and I look at Nathan.
"That was weird," I say.
"Very, let's keep an eye on her," Nathan says and I agree.
"PHOEBE GREY," I hear Ava yell and I turn to see Ava in a sweater dress.
"Moore," Nathan corrects her and I laugh. I give Ava a hug.
"I just gave that nephew of mine candy and he ran off. So if he gets red all over his sweater it is not my fault," she says and I laugh.
"We're forever indebted to you," I tease her.
"Come get a glass of champagne with me, Liv was being lame," she says and I look at her confused.
"Liv as in 9 months pregnant Liv?" I ask her and Ava rolls her eyes.
"Oh come on," she says and I laugh following her into the kitchen.
"Hi bubs," my dad says.
"Hi dad," I smile giving him a hug.
"Henry was talking about seeing you all day," I say and my dad smiles.
"I really adore him, Bubs," my dad says and I smile. It warms my heart to see their bond.
"And I can't wait to meet this one," he says and I smile. I hug him tightly. Everyone heads into the common area to sit.
"Liv the house is just amazing," Ava says and I agree. Nathan comes over and taps my shoulder.
"We should do it now," Nathan says and I nod.
"Do what?" Liv asks.
"Have you met those two all they do is have sex, they are for sure going to do it," Ava says. I flick her and stand up. I go over and find Henry playing with Elliot and WIlliam. William has an arm around Claire and she looks preoccupied. Nathan and I need to talk to her.
"Henry, come here," I say and pick him up. I take him in the kitchen and take off his sweatshirt. His shirt has a Christmas tree and it says promoted to big brother. I smile and ruffle his hair. His mouth is red from the candy he has been eating.
When we walk back in I hold Henry to my chest. He plays with my necklace. I stand up in front of everyone. "Hey guys," I say and everyone looks over at me.
"Henry wants to show you his new shirt," I say.
"Show us, Buddy," Teddy says.
I put Henry down In front of me and it is silent for a second before there is chaos. Everyone is yelling and it scares Henry. He starts to cry and I pick him back up. Nathan joins me at the front of the room laughing.
"No no fucking way," Elliot says laughing. I cover Henry's ears. LAst thing we need is him saying fucking.
"No you're not, shut up," Ava is the first to wrap me in her arms. I laugh as she spins me around.
"Oh my god, Grey," she says hugging me.
"Congratulations, Phoebe," Liv says and hugs me.
"Baby G has a cousin," I say and she smiles rubbing my belly.
"You're going to be the best mommy," my aunt Kate says. I hug her tightly.
Berkeley is sobbing and hugging me. "I am going to be an auntie," she says and I hug her. I smile at how sweet her reaction is. Mrs. Moore and Nana come up to me too. "My baby is going to be a daddy," Mrs. Moore says and hugs Nathan.
"It's a girl," Nana says in my ear.
"Oh we don't know yet," I say assuming she thought we said it's a girl.
"No, but I know sweetheart," she says and I smile.
"Truth be told, I think so too," I say and she smiles hugging me again.
Mia rushes over and squeezes me tightly. "Motherhood already looks good on you. You were born for this," she says and I smile.
"Thanks Aunt Mia," I say and she kisses my head.
There are laughs, tears, and a lot of cheers. Baby Moore is coming into a crazy but very very loving family. Everyone is so excited for us and it makes me feel so lucky. I cannot wait to bring another person into this wild bunch.
Everyone is now talking about how Baby G and Baby M are going to be 6 months apart. I am so excited for that. I am talking to Berkeley and Cole. They are talking about all the wedding planning going on. I watch as William goes over to Nathan. Nathan's face drops and he starts walking over to me.
"Follow me," Nathan says.
"What's going on?" I ask.
"William came and got me and said Claire is sobbing, he doesn't know what to do," Nathan says. I am now very concerned. Did it have to do with the pregnancy announcement?
We walk into the guest bedroom. Claire is sitting on the bed with William's arms around her. She is hugging him tightly. It is a sweet sight, but I am so concerned. What is going on?
"William, can we talk to Claire?" I ask him. He nods and kisses Claire's head. I ask him to tell my dad we are talking to Claire and to watch Henry for me. He says and he will and shuts the door.
Nathan and I sit in front of Claire on the bench. "I am sorry," she cries, shaking her head putting her head in her hands.
"Don't apologize, sweetgirl," I say.
"I don't want you to think, it is because, you know," she says and I nod. "I am so happy for you two," She says and I smile.
"You get to be a sister," I smile and nods.
"What's going on Bear?" Nathan asks. Claire shakes her head.
"You can trust us, we can't help you if we don't know what's going on," Nathan gently says. We both wait as she wipes her eyes.
"I don't know what to do," she says. She is super upset. Concern is etched all over Nathan's face.
"Susan's boyfriend is moving in with us, she told me on the way here," she says and we nod. She has told us before she thought he was nice.
"Does that worry you?" I ask. She nods and I look at Nathan. He has his fists clenched.
"Why Bear, did he do or say something to you?" Nathan asks. Claire shakes her head no. She keeps crying.
"I just, I am nervous about it. It has always been just us two," she says and we nod. She has very bad male anxiety. I understand why she is so scared.
"Have you talked to Susan about this?" I ask her.
"No, I don't want her to not do what she wants. I am a guest in her house," she says and I nod.
"Well, maybe it would make you feel better to explain your worries to Susan," Nathan says. I nod agreeing with him. Hopefully, Susan slows things down.
"I am sorry guys really," Claire says.
"Claire, never apologize for expressing how you are feeling," I say and Nathan stands up hugging her. I watch as she hugs Nathan tightly. She cries into his chest. He looks at me and I sigh.
When Claire calms down, her and Nathan sit next to each other. I am across from them. I can tell NAthan is hurting at how upset she is. I am too.
"He is staying over tonight," she says and rubs her eyes.
"Well, why don't you stay with us," Nathan says and I nod. I know that it is not the best solution long term, but it is Christmas and I hate seeing her upset.
"No, you guys have Henry, and Phoebe you are pregnant," Claire says.
"Sweetheart, you are always welcome at our house," Nathan says. She takes a deep breath and looks at us both.
"Could I?" she asks and I smile.
"Of course, sweets," I say and hug her.
"I am sorry for causing such a scene," she says and I shake my head.
"Bear, no apologizing," Nathan says and we wait as Claire gets cleaned up in the bathroom.
We head back out and I see my dad and Elliot with Henry. He is on cloud nine right now.
The rest of the night is spent talking about Baby M and spening time with everyone. I am so lucky to have this family.
