Th3Alien- thx for the review and yes I'll somewhat stick to cannon for a few chapters with some changes here and there while setting up stages for arcs that completely diverge from cannon for future chapters
runelt99- not really the only thing thats same for them is that they survived nagazora, other than that they dont have anything like the system. well im trying to balance the mc between op and not too op

slowly sitting up on a unfamiliar bed observing my surroundings, feeling a slight headache i try to move my right hand to rub my head
*clack*
'the fuck' looking to my right i see it handcuffed to the bed i was on
pulling my hand against the handcuffs with them not budging, narrowing my eyes a bit i get ready to yank the cuffs hard
"don't bother sugar, those won't break that easily" hearing the advice i stopped for a second and proceeded to yank it hard
*break*
"finally" rubbing my wrist looking towards himeko I asked while smiling "you were saying?" the look on himeko's face wasn't something i was expecting, instead of her giving me a bland look she just gave me a impressed look "you know, even i would have trouble breaking those" i looked at himeko, surprised because of her words "your joking right?" i asked to which she just smiled and shook her head, getting the conformation, i just thought
'the hell, when did i get this strong?'

'holy hell I'm overpowered
himeko just walks up to me and flicks me on my forehead getting a "ow" in response even if it didn't hurt at all "if your done zoning out, come with me someone wants to meet with you" at that i nod going to the edge of the bed
the moment i got up everything blurred and once again i felt light headed, falling towards the floor i didn't expect to pair of arms to catch me "careful there sugar" i heard himeko as i tried to rebalance myself
"need some help?" asked himeko seeing me struggling to straighten up "its fine just give me a moment"
'cleanse'

finally taking a deep breath i straighten myself up and speak up "alright I'm ready" hearing my words she just nodded "alright then, just follow me" instructed himeko to which i just followed
making our way towards to this someone who wants to meet me which i dearly hope that it's not otto, i decided to ask something "how long was i out for?" without looking back she replied "7 hours, you passed out at 1:48 and it was 8:48 when you woke up, we expected you to be out for another day but i guess not" finished himeko to which i just let out a light chuckle
reaching our destination i see large set of double doors with the schicksal insignia on them
'if i see otto behind those doors I'm gonna lose my shit'
walking up to the door himeko knocked getting a short "come in" in response, opening the doors and walking in, the room being completely empty
"how are you feeling himeko?" asked a voice that came from near the desk "my whole body still hurts" said himeko sitting down on the couch "of course it hurts, you overloaded the prototype nexus system and took on a herrsher on top of that, thank the gods that the young man was there to make your job easier" to which i just let a small laugh, himeko a second later spoke up
"where are you madam principal, i cant find you anywhere" said himeko ignoring everything theresa said, i tried my hardest to not laugh "ok enough of your taunts" said the principal standing up on her chair and looking towards me "you there I'd like to formally thank you for the aid you provided to our units in the capture of the herrsher" doing a slight bow "ahaha its no problem, i was trying to help a friend out" nodding once, she looked towards himeko and said one word "report"
hearing that himeko let out a small "oh right" and pulling down the shirt under her jacket to reveal more of her cleavage and pulled out a chip, making me look away with a slight blush on my face with himeko just looking at me slyly "why did you put it in there?!" exclaimed the small principal "didn't you tell me to keep the data somewhere safe where no one could find it" making theresa growl "just hand it to me!" snatching the data chip and plugging it into the monitor revealing some information about what happened at nagazora "alright major I'd like a report on what happened at nagazora" nodding and going onwards with the recapping on what happened in nagazora incident
after the report was done, a document with information on kiana appeared on the monitor screen
"its pretty odd, all of our science division thought normal humans couldn't handle honkai but here we have 2 of them defying that" looking towards me which made me speak up "that's because i have a stigmata" lifting up my right hand and showing them the stigmata on the back of my hand "how is that even possible" said theresa in utter amazement and awe "how did i not see that" said himeko
'well i mean, there aren't many males with a stigmata which are not a member of a prominent house'
"well i don't know how i ended up with one but all i know that this stigmata allows me to utilize honkai energy as i wish" making a sword out of solidised honkai energy in my hands to demonstrate "wow" said theresa "yeah i saw you use all those fancy moves" said himeko to which i just shruged "ok that explains zeren but what about the kiana girl?" continued himeko
"kiana is a very very special girl" said theresa going to the other document with mei's information on it "raiden mei, who whould have thought the herrsher turned out to be this little girl" reading further her eyes widened "wait she's the heiress to ME-corp too?!"
"surprising right? AE turned out to be the backer of ME corp, odd that AE didnt make a move when the heiress turned out to be a herrsher" as the discussion went on further theresa asked "so i take it only they survived?" "no actually, there should be 3 more that survived" i quickly said as she got a call on her office phone "(madam principal, we found 3 kids in hyperion's cargo bay, one is uninjured and other two have slight injuries)" "ah its them" i said "bring them to the medical team and get them checked out" responded theresa "(copy that)"
theresa after that continued with the documents and the next was mine "oh that's on me" i said as i moved closer to the monitor to read what they had on me
everything seemed normal, but one part of the background check caught my attention [on december 29th was offered a scholarship to chiba academy as a culture exchange student on his last year which started on february 25th but interrupted because of the eruption]
'damn a culture exchange student, so I'm not from japan rather from another country'
"pretty unfortunate" said theresa to which i just said "i was bound to get involved into this mess one day"
with everything done i decided to ask one thing i was curious about "so um.. not to seem rude but what do i do now? not like i can just go back to living normally" on my words theresas face lit up "how about you become a knight for us?" hearing that i asked back "and if i do become one what's in it for me?" at that theresa calmed downed a bit and replied "becoming a knight for us will allow you to use schciksal resources, get missions to do which gives high rewards and much more"
hearing all that proposed, there was only one choice in this
"i accept" i said with a smile on my face
"well then, zeren let me welcome you as St.Freya high's first knight in training"
"glad to be here" as i preformed a knights bow
"I'll have to inform grandpa about this and do some paper work" said theresa to herself "oh right where will you be living?" asked theresa, but before i could answer
"he can stay with me" said himeko perking up, everyone in the room froze for a few seconds before an atomic blush erupted on himekos face "ooooh?" said theresa in a teasing tone "to think himeko herself offering someone to stay with her? is this what i think this is?" asked theresa to who's implications i blushed and turned from the 2 of them
"well only if he's ok with it" said himeko trying to hide her face "I'm ok with it" i replied quickly without thinking, once again turing away to hide my face "hahahaha" started laughing theresa "alright you two get going already i have work to do" before i could say anything i was pulled out of the room by himeko
as the doors closed i asked himeko "you ok himeko?" "yeah I'm ok just a bit worked up, that damn principal" letting out a light laugh "so where to now?" making himekos blush return to her face as she spoke "my house"
after we reached himekos house, once again i did not expect this
'i know that her house was very messy but god damn this is way too messy'
"you live like this?" i asked looking at himeko blandly with her just fidgeting under my gaze
"well in my defense I'm always very busy" said himeko making me sigh "fair enough, alright than where are the broomsticks and all?" i asked with her responding "I'll go get them" with that i decided to sit down on the couch littered with clothes and all
after a few moments
"got them all here" getting up from the couch i took half of them, putting a face mask on "alright lets start"
4 hours later
"and that should be the last of it" i said dropping the last bag of trash outside the house in a dumpster, going back into the house i give a quick look around with it being completely clean "whoever thaught you cleaning, definitely did a great job" said himeko collapsing onto the couch "that was tiring" she said in a muffled voice "well of course it was tiring the whole house was full of trash and filth, and im self taught" feeling slight pride at the last part, sitting besides himeko i ask "so which room will i staying in?" making her look up "the one besides mine"
getting up from the couch she walked into the kitchen and over to the fridge "are you fucking serious" said himeko to which i went over to see what happened "whats wrong?" i asked to which she just pointed to an empty compartment "we're out of alcohol" hearing that i just face palmed "and here i thought it was something serious" looking back at me she just glared at me "it is serious, i need alcohol at the end of the day to relax properly" giving her a bland look "you know what? fair enough" i said making her smile "good because we are going out to get some" she stated, hearing that i just nodded "alright i also have to go get myself some things"
before we leave for the city, himeko went to her room to change her clothes while she was doing that i took out my phone and opened it to checked my bank account to see how much money i had

"ok I'm ready" i heard himeko say, putting my phone away i turned to see himeko in a open jacket on an under shirt that covered her cleavage and dark blue jeans "like how i look?" asked himeko looking at me with a sly smile, making me blush slightly "yeah, looking beautiful as always" i said making her blush "alright alright enough smooth talking, we gotta stop by the other before we leave" nodding and walking up to the door and keeping it open for himeko
after stopping on the way to meet up with bronya, kaito, and remi, kaito being the same case as me had also gotten the offer to become schciksal knight which he accepted too, nothing much happened when we visited both mei and kiana as they still hadn't woken up yet, leaving the campus and going into the city we decided to get clothes for me first as i didn't own any other pair beside the one i wore right now
"try this" said himeko throwing a shirt at me, lifting it from my face i see that its a black shirt with a red dragon pattern on its side
rather than me picking out clothes for myself, himeko had started to make me wear all sorts of clothing, going into the changing room once again i took off the shirt i had on before and i put on the one himeko gave me, going out of the changing room"looks good?" i asked himeko who was sitting down on a chair with more outfits for me to try out
"try something else" said himeko about to hand me another outfit to try "wait, I'll go look for some myself" hearing me himeko nodded "alright I'll wait here" nodding i walked to a different part of the store and found something that caught my attention
going back to where himeko was with some outfits in my arms, i went into the changing room again and put on the outfit i picked out, going back out i asked himeko "does this look good?" i was in something similar to himeko's outfit, black t-shirt and a dark blue jacket over it and black pants
looking me over himeko just gave me a thumbs up "i approve" making me let out a small "nice"
after we were done picking out some pairs of clothing that i was going to buy, while walking to the counter himeko spoke up "I'll be paying for all this" "i can pay for all this you know" i said, surprising her "i did work as a bounty hunter for money before i came to nagazora"
'well its not a complete lie as the hunter skill does give rewards for killing certain monsters'
"that explains why you could hold your own against the herrsher" i said nothing as we reached the counter, paying for everything and leaving the store "alright what else do we need?" i asked to which himeko just dragged me with her towards what i presumed to be the place she buys her drinks at
entering the place i expected to be hit with the smell of alcohol everywhere but instead the place smelled rather nice "ah himeko, back already?" asked an elderly lady "yep, its been a stressful month" picking up the box handed to her by the lady putting it on her shoulders "and who is that young man you brought with you?" hearing that i turned around to what they were discussing, before himeko could say anything the lady continued "did you finallly find yourself a man? because let me tell you this, you both look great together" hearing that i was left speechless "no he's not my boyfriend!" exclaimed himeko with a even bigger blush on her face with the lady just laughing lightly
himeko just grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the building "we'll get going now" she said quickly "ah of course your welcome here anytime" with that quick exchange done we exited the place we started to make our way back to himekos house
while we were walking back to campus we came across a motorcycle dealership where a particular one caught my attention, stopping to look at it for a while longer, taking note of the build and everything, black theme all over with hints of white and red no brand name but i could see that it was a modified one "something wrong?" asked himeko seeing me stop "ah its nothing" i said as i quickly caught up to her
'ill come back here to do some digging later, would be pretty dope if i could make some honkai modification to it'
looking forward to see the sun fully disappearing under the horizon, making both of us hurry up in our way back
finally reaching her house i entered my room and placed the clothes i bought neatly in the closet and change into some lose clothing and going out of the room seeing himeko in shorts and a tanktop laying down on the couch as i sat besides her, looking at me she asked "so what do you want to do for dinner?" making me think for a second "I'm fine with what you would eat usually" to which she nodded and took her phone out and said "I'll order us some food" hearing that i swiftly said "ok wait, so you don't make dinner?" to which she shook her head "i just order some for myself" getting up from the couch i said "alright I'll make dinner tonight" making her ask me "you can cook too?" "yep" i said give her a smile and a thumbs up
after the dinner was done and over with i was at the sink washing the dishes and himeko was on the table drinking, done with washing the dishes i go to the fridge and grabbing a water bottle, sitting down on the table with himeko
"i didn't expect your cooking to be that good" complimented himeko taking another sip of the beer inhand "used to cook for other people often so had some practice in cooking for others" emptying the whole bottle in one go, placing it down on the table "nothing beats a nice cold beer at the end of the day" exclaimed himeko "cant argue with that one" i said as i got up to go put the bottle back to its place
"your 18 right?" asked himeko to which i answered "yeah, why ask?" "was just curious, actually i wanna know more about your past before you came to nagazora" to which i prompted her to continue "you don't have a family name so I'd guess that you grew up in an orphanage?" nodding in confirmation "yeah, years later got involved in the world of bounty hunters" done with her beer can, she took out another one popping it open and taking another sip "must have been hard being alone and having to fend for yourself" making me laugh a bit "quite the opposite actually, with the help of my stigmata i was able to rack up quite the fortune and live on my own and focus on my studies which led me here"
"so are you going to continue bounty hunting?" asked himeko to which i just shook my head "stopped that an year back, wanted to start a new life, far from all that chaos" looking at himeko with a smile "and my wish to start anew has been granted, as a schicksal knight" himeko held up the beer can in her hand "not everyone is lucky enough to be able to leave their privious life behind like that and start anew, your a lucky one zeren and from what i can tell, you deserve it" looking at me with a sweet smile on her face
lowering my head to hide the pink that dusted my face "thanks for that... it means a lot" making her laugh "anytime sugar now how about you pop a can with me?" to which i just declined "nah I'm good and you already drank 2 cans himeko, i think you should stop and go to sleep now" getting up and taking the third can from her hands making her whine "oh c'mon i just drank 2 cans, i can handle a third one" making me look back at her with a stern look "no, 2 cans is already enough before sleep" putting the beer back into the freezer and walking to my room i turn around say "you should go sleep now himeko, unlike me you got duties to attend to" getting a groan in response "yeah yeah i hear ya" as i see making her way to her room, stopping at the door and looking at me "goodnight zeren" smiling "goodnight to you too himeko" with that i walked into my room closing the door and going to sleep
the next day
waking up to the knocking on the door "zeren you up yet?" i heard himeko ask, getting up from bed i walked towards the door while yawning "yep I'm up" seeing himeko in the same outfit as last night "good, theresa called and its seems that the herrsher girl is finally up" hearing that woke me up completely "alright than what are we waiting for?" turning around walking to her room "just change into something presentable for now" at hearing those words i looked down 'where my t-shirt at'
meeting up with theresa in her office as we were than guided to the room mei was in "has the herrsher shown any sign of hostility?" asked himeko to which xaou shook her head "no, she just asked if everyone was ok" making me speak up "expected, mei's a kind girl she won't harm anyone intentionally" both girls looked at me hearing my statement "you know her that well?" asked himeko to which i shook my head "i haven't known her for ong but as for the time i have known her i could tell that she's a kind girl" nodding at my words "makes it easier for us"
walking into the empty room i see mei sitting on the bed gazing down to the floor "hey mei" i spoke up, making her look up on hearing my voice, jumping towards me and hugging me tightly, feeling my shoulder getting damp i just patted her head "i thought you didn't-" she couldn't finish her sentence as the sounds of choked sobs filled the room, her hug getting tighter, shaking slightly, wrapping my arms around her "it's fine mei, I'm still here and everyone survived" hearing that the shaking lessened "i-i see"
after she calm downed, she asked what happened after she saw me collapse as that was the last thing she could remember, getting her caught up with everything that happened after that "so that's all" finished himeko "i see, you can do whatever you want with me now" hearing that i froze for a bit "what do you mean by that mei?"
"even if that means killing you? killing a herrsher will reduce the chancese of complete destruction" said himeko making me look at her with wide eyes but before i could say anything
"do it then, if killing me helps save lives of many than do it" this made himeko narrow her eyes
*slap*
"stop joking around will ya" i said with my arm outstretched with which i had slapped mei "we made this far without anyone of us dying and now you want to throw away your life just because there's a herrsher inside of you?" mei looked up with tears in her eyes "what if i lose control again?! what if i end up killing more people?! it will be bett-" before she could finish i grabbed her face with both of my hands "mei, we will help you control the herrsher in you and even if you lose control again we'll be there to snap you right out of it, me kiana bronya kaito remi, we'll all be there to help you whenever you need us, but in return we need you to stay strong for us and control the herrsher in you" now tears freely falling and hugging me again "thank you"
after she had calmed down, mei met with theresa and it was decided that i would be tasked with overlooking mei and her progress in controlling her herrsher powers and that bronya and mei will be staying with both me and himeko whereas kaito and remi
"we get a whole house for ourselves?" asked remi with surprise which was matched by kaito who was standing besides remi "yes, you two will get whole house in which only you two will be staying in, its right besides himekos house" remi hugging kaito and jumping up and down in joy "yay we get our own house!" exclaimed remi to which kaito just laughed "good for you two" i said walking away
"zeren and kaito, mind staying here for a bit?" hearing that we both looked at each other, nodding i said "yeah we dont mind" "the rest of you lot can leave now" hearing that mei bronya remi and himeko left the office, with only me kaito and theresa left in the office
"i have a mission for you two" hearing that both of us tensed up "the thing is, you both can choose to accept or decline the mission as you both have no experience on mission" finished theresa to which kaito asked "then why give us the mission in the first place?"
"we are running short on valkyries that are able to go on missions but you have experience in dealing with the honkai so you both were the only candidates suitable for the mission and if you both do accept this, it will be counted as your first test as knights" nodding both me and kaito looked at each other, an unspoken coversation was made between us nodding to each other and looking at theresa we both said at the same time "we accept"
smiling theresa passed a file to us "did i mention that im coming on this mission too?" "well now you did" i said back just making theresa laugh, picking up the file i open it at the same time theresa spoke up "the location for this is nagazora, we will be tracking down a high level honkai source and seeing if its useful to us or not, read through the file for more details on it" reading through the file i looked at the details about when was the source detected and where it is, but something else caught my eye, a picture of a miko with fox like ears and pink hair cutting down a honkai beast
'sakura huh, this time I'll try to make sure she doesn't have to sacrifice herself to save theresa, i know for a fact this is gonna screw up cannon good... well me already being here screwed the cannon what's a little change here and there right?'
passing the file to kaito for him to read "we will leave for the mission in two days as the hyperion is still being repaired" nodding to herself "ok you both are free to leave now" turing around to leave the office i heard theresa say "also zeren, good job on handling the herrsher" to which i just gave her a thumbs up and left the office followed by kaito
"it hasn't even been a week and a mission already" said kaito to which i just let out a light laugh "well we are knights, unlike the valkyries we don't have rankings and with there not being any ranking there are no restrictions on what types of missions we can take on so a mission already isn't out of the box" kaito nodding to my words "fair enough i suppose, atleast we have some experience dealing with the honkai" laughing "ay but the difference here will be that we have a actual goal and expect the unexpected" humming "it shouldn't be that hard to do" "that's what they all say" both of us laughing and fist bumping at the end
parting ways at himeko's house as i see kaito enter his and remi's home
walking in i remove my shoes and putting them on the shoe rack, before i could continue walking i see mei quickly stop infront of me and before i could say anything "welcome home zeren" said mei giving me a slight bow, smiling "I'm back home"

AN: took me quite a while to get this out and i have no idea why, anyways this was more of slice of life type of chapter a quick break from the last two chapters action ig
new arc next chapter? maybe. zeren bouta to get a motorcycle next chapter? yes.
