Most likely, I edited the chapter and uploaded it, only to realize I didn't save it properly... because I used "ctrl + s," instead of clicking the save button.
"Great," nodding his head in satisfaction, Naruto poured his chakra into his back, and the black, wing-like pattern drawn on his back began to glow red like his hair. Not even a few seconds has passed and Naruto already felt his back heating up.
"Unseal, Summoning: Karasu."
Suddenly, Naruto took off his upper clothes and black ink poured out of the glowing wing pattern on his back, engulfing his entire back as black feathers start to emerge like a bird coming out of its egg.
"CAW!"
With a loud and crisp cry, a crow's head suddenly jolted out of Naruto's back, scanning its surrounding as it flexed its body, preparing for flight.
FLAP—FLAP—FLAP!
CAAAW—!
Leaving obsidian black feathers behind, Karasu flew out of Naruto's back like a soaring phoenix and let out a piercing cry, spreading his ink-black wings and showing off his majestic body to the spectators below him. As he gently flapped his wings to land, the ink on Naruto's body resided and the glowing wing pattern dimmed, returning to its original black color before slowly fading away.
"Naruto, what do you need?"
"Tell me about the Beast Wave and the Space Barrier. I want to get every clue that I can to solve this problem," Naruto said solemnly. The Land of Whirlpools was the place he chose to build his sanctuary, naturally, he was worried about the island's safety.
"The Beast Wave and the Space Barrier… the Space Barrier is easy to explain. It simply separates the village from the rest of the world and offers protection. On the other hand, the Beast Wave is complicated," Karasu began.
"The Chakra Beasts was originally a project by the Clan Head before the last Clan Head...
It was supposed to help Uzumaki train their battle skills, and the Chakra Beasts were supposed to be human-like but with extra speed, strength, reaction, you name it."
TANG! TANG! TANG!
Like a masterful blacksmith, a muscular, tall figure with flowing red hair stood straight with his arms stretched out, controlling his silver Adamantine Sealing Chains to wrap around a man with black hair and green pupils. He was a trespasser, so the Uzumaki was more than willing to use him as a test subject.
"Damn it, it's going to fail too," the Uzumaki mumbled and waved toward another figure who was waiting at the far back of the altar. "Get the seal ready. The explosion might be the strongest so far," he said and the figure behind him paled. Nodding his head, he started yelling orders and more figures came pouring out of the opened door. All of them had red hair.
"Formation Seal: Uzumaki Barrier!"
SHAAAA…
As the team of Uzumaki stretched out their hands, black Fuinjutsu symbols began oozing out of their palms and surrounded the chained-up man and the Uzumaki controlling the chains. Not long after, the chained-up man began bloating up, an extra limb growing out of his left armpit and between his legs.
The limbs were both arms, yet they didn't have hands, and instead, at the wrist were two heads with no eyes nor nose. The Uzumaki narrowed his eyes and waved his hands, covering himself with his own chains as the man coughed up blood and flesh from all three of his mouths.
BOOM—SPLATTER—
When the Uzumaki encased in chains took back his silver chains, he narrowed his eyes when he saw the Uzumaki maintaining the barrier all wounded and bruised. Thankfully, none of them died and they only had shallow cuts from the bones of the now-deceased captive.
"The explosion was that violent?"
Normally, even if countless explosive tags exploded instead of the person in front of him, the Uzumaki team would be unscathed. But because of his experiments, where he reinforced the captive's bones, muscles, and organs and enhanced his chakra, the explosion was…
"Clan Head, do you need another test subject?"
"No need. I need to improve my technique further. This will never work," the Clan Head waved his hand and after his silver chains returned to his body, he walked away with a scroll in his hand. He didn't have to open the scroll to write inside it.
"However, the Clan Head failed, but he was able to create the Uzumaki Puppets out of it. After he retired, the next Clan Head, which was the last Uzumaki Clan Head, took interest in his project and attempted it again, only this time, he modeled the Chakra Beasts into animals."
"Amazing, the rat was able to grow into a giant," A man with a youthful appearance mumbled, his crazed eyes staring at an enormous rat the size of an adult man. The rat was bound up by his golden chains that had needles growing out of them. His chains looked like a golden porcupine.
"The previous Clan Head could've succeeded if he tried using his technique on animals, but I guess it worked out in the end. He was able to create the Uzumaki Puppets," he sighed and remembered his predecessor. The man was a legend among the clan, possessing sentient chains as fast as lightning and as sturdy as mountains.
It is said that the more he killed, the stronger and faster his chains become, and the more intelligence it gains.
"Well, I wonder what I can do with these little guys…"
Looking at the giant rat, the man's eyes suddenly glowed and his surroundings seemed to slow down, as the needles on his chains glowed red and straightened up, biting into the rat's skin and making it cry out in pain, although in the man's eyes, it was only opening its mouth but letting to no sound.
"I guess I can try on using the previous clan head's plan," the man shrugged and closed his eyes, and the world seemed to return to normal as the needles on his chain relaxed.
"Later on, the last Clan Head decided to hide his success from younger Uzumaki and forbade the older Uzumaki from telling the younger ones, and he made it seem like the Chakra Beasts were natural and not manmade. Then, he would send young Uzumaki to 'hunt' those Chakra Beasts as training, but barely anyone would succeed. Still, no Uzumaki died because they are usually led by a Fuinjutsu Professor or sometimes, a Fuinjutsu Master.
As time passed, the Chakra Beasts multiplied and the Clan Head created the Beast Wave. As the Chakra Beasts won't attack Uzumaki members unless provoked, and will swarm anyone without Uzumaki blood, it was the perfect defense at the time," Karasu paused and Naruto was about to speak when he suddenly remembered something.
"Right, the current 'Boss' I refer to were only Kage Level back then. They were the only Kage Level Chakra Beasts, and all the other Chakra Beasts were Jonin Level and below. There are four Chakra Beast Bosses.
One is a giant three-headed grey wolf who can manipulate earth, wind, and fire.
One is a giant white crow who can shrink and expand as well as move extremely fast.
One is a giant red bear with giant claws that are as strong as the Adamantine Chains and can extend up to a kilometer.
The last is a giant blue tiger who can turn invisible and make no sound even while running.
After the fall of Uzu, the Chakra Beasts began multiplying rapidly and more Kage Level Chakra beasts appeared, while the four Bosses became stronger and stronger. Once you opened the Space Barrier, which was locked and can only be opened by Uzumaki chakra and blood, the Chakra Beast's strength skyrocketed. Now, I don't even know who can defeat the four Chakra Beast Bosses…
…that's all I know about the Beast Wave," Karasu finished and allowed Naruto to speak.
"Thanks…" Naruto was expressing his gratitude when all of a sudden, memories came pouring into his mind. "Thank you, Karasu. You finished just in time, my clone dispelled himself. Come, we'll head toward the Space Barrier."
Like streaks of shadow inside the forest of the Land of Whirlpools, seven figures dashed across the army of trees as they hopped from branch to branch, ignoring the sleeping giant beasts they would often come across. The figure with red hair was carrying a carbon copy of himself, whose eyes were closed as he meditates.
'I can feel it, the Sealing Chakra around me is slowly being absorbed by my body,' Naruto thought as he tried to retract the Sealing Chakra he was unconsciously emitting, all the while preventing it from re-exiting his body.
'I don't know what will happen after I fully absorb my Sealing Chakra, I don't even know if I'll know it…'
Thinking so, he opened his eyes and glanced at the girl with pale lavender eyes running beside him.
"Hinata, can you help me?" Naruto asked, making one shadow clone carry Hinata as they ran. The girl was startled at first when she was carried princess style, but relaxed after a second and even hugged the clone.
"Of course, Naruto-kun," she bashfully smiled, "What should I do?"
"Activate your Byakugan and observe my charka. If my chakra feels fainter, tell me, okay?" Naruto explained. From what his godfather had told him, Sealing Chakra can be seen by both the Sharingan and Byakugan, but the person with said dojutsu doesn't realize it because everything is covered in a faint veil of Sealing Chakra and they've been too used to seeing it, and Sealing Chakra itself is transparent.
"Okay," Hinata nodded as chakra pulsed into her eyes, activating her Byakugan.
"Thank you," Naruto said and closed his eyes, focusing on gathering all his Sealing Chakra and putting it back into his Chakra System. 'Now, I'll know when I succeeded…'
Not even a minute after he closed his eyes, Hinata already exclaimed. Naruto's eyes opened at lightning speed, dashing near Hinata and scanning the area. 'There's no one? Why did she…?'
"Naruto-kun, your chakra feels a little fainter now…"
Naruto couldn't even hear what Hinata was saying as he looked around. He already realized that Hinata exclaimed not because there were enemies nearby, but because he had succeeded faster than planned.
As the world around him shimmered like the rainbows in the sky and dim like the clouds on a rainy day, Naruto wanted to rub his eyes to see if he was hallucinating, but also not wanting to close his eyes in case the world before him disappear.
'I can see chakra?'
Seeing as the world literally changed before his eyes, Naruto's first guess was that he was now able to see chakra, but after thinking about it, he shook his head and squinted his eyes, finally remembering to say thank you to Hinata who smiled at him.
'No, I can see Sealing Chakra, not chakra itself. Godfather never said anything about this?'
Doubtful, Naruto turned to look up and saw what looked like a blob of dark ink flying across the sky. A closer look and you would see feathers gleaming like obsidian.
"Karasu, can Fuinjutsu Professors see Sealing Chakra?"
"I… don't know," Karasu replied and looked down, a bit of shock spilling into his voice, "Are you a Professor now?"
Naruto nodded, taking out a scroll and writing a simple Sealing Formula without emitting any Sealing Chakra. Seeing this, Karasu's surprise turned into astonishment.
"Well, congratulation. When I died, I was only a Fuinjutsu Senior, but I heard that Fuinjutsu Professors and Fuinjutsu Masters see the world through different eyes. Maybe it's because they can see Sealing Chakra," Karasu concluded.
"But you once mentioned that you can sense Sealing Chakra," Naruto remembered when Karasu and he were forming their Summoning Contract. Remembering that messy Sealing Contract that Karasu made, Naruto cringed. 'Now that I'm a Fuinjutsu Professor, I should try and make a complete Summoning Contract, not the incomplete version that Karasu made. It's really depressing,' Naruto sighed when he heard Karasu explain.
"I can sense it, but I can't see it… come to think of it, I can't sense any Sealing Chakra coming from you. It's like you're not a Fuinjutsu Expert at all," Karasu commented, "Is it because you're a professor now?"
"Yes," Naruto off-handedly replied. He had a theory as to how he is now able to see Sealing Chakra. 'Now that there is no Sealing Chakra covering my eyes and entire body, I can see 'better.' I assume that's why even the Byakugan or Sharingan eye can't perceive Sealing Chakra as well as I can. Or maybe it's just a special technique that the Uzumaki have. I'll have to ask Godfather about this,' Naruto concluded and summoned a toad.
POOF!
When the toad appeared, he handed a small scroll to it and whispered something before the toad disappeared.
POOF…
After the toad disappeared, he resumed observing the Sealing Chakra around him. Sealing Chakra came in different forms from what he can see. Some were multi-colored, like the massive dome in the distance. 'That should be the Space Barrier.' Some were dull, like the runic symbols on some rocks they went past. 'And that should be rubbles from the village. I didn't notice it before.'
Suddenly having an idea, Naruto turned to observe his group.
'Aside from Karasu, barely anyone has Sealing Chakra around them, but it is there,' Karasu was lathered by a thick layer of Sealing Chakra, while the rest were only covered by a thin veil of Sealing Chakra. 'Is it because Karasu's body was created using Fuinjutsu?'
Shaking his head, Naruto focused back on running after dispelling his clone.
'Too many questions, yet very few answers. I'll think about it again after we solve the current issue.'
