Chapter 62: Chakra Cloak

Arc: Kirigakure's Civil War

Though Naruto didn't how the three tails "sensed" Kurama, when the latter only did after Yagura was nearby, he couldn't care too much.

Right now, they were enemies, and the only thing Naruto knew to do when facing enemies is to fight.

Talking?

Those had no place in battle.

"Fuinjutsu: Gates to the Dream World."

Naruto muttered and opened the scroll he was holding to reveal a glowing seal formula.

In an instant, Yagura felt as if he had traversed another world to leave behind the nightmare that was called reality.

When he saw a peaceful Kirigakure, Yagura felt at ease for a moment before a frown suddenly etched itself on his face.

"Genjutsu…"

Yagura was a bit shocked. The genjutsu was not subtle at all, but it prevented the target from realizing that he was in a genjutsu.

"Release!"

Flooding his body with chakra, the fake world faded and Yagura returned to face Naruto. Apparently, not even a few seconds had passed.

"Nice try, but it won't happen again," Yagura smirked.

Then, he roused his chakra throughout his body to constantly dispel any genjutsu. This feat was something only jinchuriki or ninja with high chakra control can do as it is both complicated and requires a great deal of focus.

Those with high chakra control didn't need mentioning, but jinchuriki has a cheat around this. They can simply circulate their tailed beast chakra around their body and any genjutsu would be dispelled.

Naruto knew this too, hence he didn't rely on genjutsu. He just wanted to give it a try and after finding it fail, Naruto moved on.

"Fuinjutsu: Flowing Yin Yang."

Naruto said as he dashed toward the mist ninjas. Scroll and ink was supposed to be circling him like yin and yang, but since he didn't need ink, he didn't include it.

"Damn, get ready!"

The mist ninjas were dismayed when they saw Naruto heading toward them, and the Mizukage not doing anything to stop it in advance. Sometimes, they felt as if the Mizukage was testing the limits of their loyalty.

"Water Style Formation: Water Bullet Jutsu!"

Several ninjas cried out and a rain of water bullets charged toward Naruto. Naruto didn't flinch as a seal formula glowed inside the scrolls circling him.

"Fuinjutsu: Earth Guardian Seal."

Naruto muttered as rock armor covered him. Before, the rock armor would be too fragile and slow to be useful in situations where Naruto had to move fast.

But now that he was a fuinjutsu professor, he didn't need to worry about that. He could change seal formulas on the run. Literally.

Naruto's body was covered in a layer of rock, while the areas between his joints were merely covered in a coating of chakra.

Feeling the bullets landing on his armor, Naruto grimaced.

'My chakra would slowly be drained at this rate.'

He had a huge chakra reserve, but his enemy was in the hundreds. Maybe thousands, he had yet to know. Furthermore, the Mizukage was waiting for him.

Naruto's eyes narrowed while he took out several scrolls and threw them toward the ninjas. The scrolls flew like they were arrows, and before the ninjas could form a water wall, the scrolls lit up.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

The ground shook as every mist ninja tried to balance themselves. Yagura was no exception. When they looked back at the explosion, they were horrified to see the area to be completely scorched. There was even a foot-deep crater on the ground.

Naruto's figure flickered, and he would've gotten away had Yagura not been waiting.

"You're not escaping so easily, Nine Tails!"

Yagura yelled and weaved hand seals.

"Water Style: Water Hydra Jutsu!"

Facing a water hydra, Naruto frowned as he fetched out a seal.

"Fuinjutsu: Earth Golem Guardian Seal."

GRRRRR—

ROAAAAR!

A giant earth golem emerged as the hydra roared, biting toward the golem with all three of its head. The golem, not to be outdone, punched two head of the hydra's three heads. The heads exploded, but two heads replaced each of the destroyed heads.

'There are now 5 heads… what?'

Naruto was dumbfounded as to how the jutsu worked. He didn't restrict his chakra usage now, so he could perfectly sense what was happening with the jutsu.

'It's as if the hydra has infinite chakra!'

When the two heads were blown off, the hydra gained chakra from the mist around them. Suddenly, a light lit up in his head as he realized how the Mizukage used the hydra.

'No. It doesn't have infinite chakra. The hydra is feeding off of the chakra-filled mist in Kirigakure!'

Naturally, Naruto was inspired and he thought of a new seal formula. He'd create it after he survives this battle.

"The earth golem has to kill it in one blow…"

Seeing Yagura standing on top of the hydra, Naruto had a reckless thought.

'Sorry, Zabuza.'

Naruto smirked and crumbled the scroll that was swirling around him.

"Fuinjutsu: Detonate!"

TSS—

The scroll lit up, burning as Naruto's grin got wider.

TSSSS….

When the scroll turned into ash, the rock golem suddenly glowed as if it had turned into magma. Yagura saw this and his eyes widened in horror as an earth-shattering explosion was heard throughout the ninja world.

RUMBLEEEE…!

Even after a minute had passed, the ground had yet to stop shaking as earth, water, mud, and dust fell to the ground like rain. Naruto then emerged from the ground covered in rock armor.

Just before the golem exploded, he used the Earth Guardian Seal to protect himself and dove deep underground.

'Reminds me of old times.'

Naruto smiled and searched for Yagura's body.

He refused to believe that a jinchuriki could die so easily.

Sure enough, in the middle of a massive crater filled with water, Yagura's figure emerged. Now, he was covered in a deep red chakra that made the air around him heat up.

'Naruto, be careful. He is in his chakra cloak.'

'Chakra cloak? It's my first time seeing one…'

'That's natural. The one tails don't have access to it… only he doesn't have a chakra cloak to give.'

Kurama sighed. Shukaku had been sealed away when the tailed beasts invented the chakra cloak. The poor guy was so enraged that he created his version of it.

He invented the partial tailed-beast transformations. It was weaker than a chakra cloak, but it was useful in its own right. After they got a hold of him, the tailed beasts tried to teach Shukaku the chakra cloak technique, but the youngest was stubborn and refused to learn.

'How dangerous is it?'

'You're facing off against the three tails. Don't let him touch you, or you'll be calcified. Also, his defense is as good as mine if not better. I suggest using a blunt object or something as capable as the Kusanagi.'

The Sword of Kusanagi could cut through anything. Well, maybe not against stronger tailed-beasts like the four tails and above, but that was the point.

Yagura was the three tails' jinchuriki, not the four.

'Amazing. Where can I pick up a free Kusanagi?'

Naruto cursed.

'I guess my best bet is still the golem… but how the hell can a turtle catch a speeding cheetah?'

Naruto cursed, unsealing his chokuto and coating it in a thick layer of chakra. Then, he lifted it high above him, blocking in time the Mizukage enshrouded with a malevolent red chakra.

"Nine tails' jinchuriki. You are going to die today."

"No. I don't think so," Naruto smirked and spat at the Mizukage's face.
