Chapter 63: Desperation

The Mizukage didn't take lightly being disrespected. Before Naruto's spit could even reach him, he roared in disgust and slammed his claw at Naruto, who used his chains to block it. His chains began deteriorating as they started to get covered in coral, so Naruto immediately cut them off.

'Even the chains are affected by corals?' Naruto narrowed his eyes and focused his chakra on his chains. 'I don't believe there's such a counter to the chains.'

CLANG! CLANG!

Chains erupted from his back as they charged toward Yagura. Yagura dodged swiftly, but the chains were just as fast.

"Tsk."

Seeing Yagura run like a cheetah with his chains following closely behind, Naruto had no choice but to cancel his chains. The chains were getting too long and the chakra consumption increased with the length.

CLANG…

Seeing the chains stop, Yagura halted and looked at Naruto. "You are running out of chakra, nine tails' jinchuriki. Why don't you use the kyuubi's chakra?"

Naruto shrugged. "Right now, I don't need it," he smirked.

"Fool," Yagura mocked and suddenly vanished. When he reappeared again, he was behind Naruto and had his fist cocked back.

BAM!

With a loud crisp noise, Naruto flew back as Yagura's fist struck his face.

But before Yagura could be satisfied, Naruto vanished in a puff of smoke. Then, Yagura heard a loud swirling noise behind him. When he sensed the chakra being put out, his hair raised and he hurriedly looked back.

"Big Ball Sealing Rasengan!"

Naruto yelled and slammed the big chakra orb toward Yagura, who reacted at the last moment and created corals to block the chakra ball. The corals were tough, and the rasengan's power was reduced in half before it reached Yagura.

BANG!

Naruto jumped away, just in time to avoid a deadly punch from Yagura.

'I have to either get him out of his chakra cloak or exhaust him. The latter is impossible,' Naruto concluded and created pulled out a scroll.

SZZT— Opening the scroll, Naruto used his chakra to engrave a sealing formula inside the paper. It was a sealing formula both unfamiliar yet well known in the ninja world.

It was the Explosive Scroll Seal.

Only this time, Naruto modified the seal for the first time since its creation.

'I hope this works.'

Naruto prayed and closed the seal before throwing it at Yagura. Yagura dodged when the scroll suddenly u-turned and chased after him. Yagura ran again, only for chains to appear in front of him that caught his ankles.

With the help of the chains, the scroll reached Yagura and unrolled itself again.

TZZZZ…

"BASTARD!"

Seeing the scroll sizzle, Yagura could more or less guess what it was going to be. Yagura knew about the explosive scroll seal, naturally. Naruto just used it moments ago, and Kirigakure had been using it since its creation by Ginko. He saw Naruto create the seal from scratch and was sure that the latter had modified it.

BOOM—BOOM—BOOM!

The explosion erupted, but it wasn't as destructive as before. Instead, it was a concentrated explosion that never seemed to stop.

'The sealing formula won't stop unless Yagura runs out of chakra.'

Making a seal that fed off of the enemy's chakra was the most common type of offensive seal. However, using it was tricky as the seal itself has to touch the target, and no sane ninja would let their enemy walk up to them and slap a seal on their faces.

'Either he figures it out and shaves off his chakra cloak, or he…'

Naruto didn't get to finish thinking when he saw YAgura being covered in corals. Then, the explosions halted and Yagura broke the protective coral layers.

'Damn, I didn't think of that.'

Naruto grimaced. In the heat of the battle, he forgot that YAgura could just "shed" off the seal using his corals.

'Damn it, Kurama. Why didn't you warn me?'

'I didn't know what you were planning!'

Naruto and Yagura were fighting and they had to think instantly, lest the other gets an advantage. Likewise, Naruto's plan was extremely hurried and he had to modify a seal on the spot. How could Kurama react fast enough when the entire thing happened in seconds?

When Naruto saw Yagura disappearing again, he instantly switched with another clone and the scene repeated itself. Only his time, Yagura had expected it and immediately sensed Naruto's location.

Naruto saw Yagura turning toward him and took out a scroll. It was the golden fire dragon scroll. It made its appearance for the first time in Kirigakure.

'I can't half-ass it. I have to use at least half my chakra…'

Right now, he only had little over half of his total chakra reserve, so he was planning on using all of it.

'No, Let's use a third of my chakra and use the other third on my chakra chains.'

Naruto thought and changed his plan. what if the dragon turned useless, what then?

'Naruto, be careful, and don't be stubborn.'

Naruto nodded at his partner's warning and unrolled the golden fire dragon scroll.

"Fuinjutsu: Fire Dragon Guardian Seal! Fuinjutsu: Adamantine Sealing Chains."

ROAAAR! CLANG! CLANG!

After muttering both of his attacks, a golden fire dragon appeared on the battlefield wrapped in red chains. The dragon glared at Yagura, and Yagura glared back. Though, there was some amusement behind his glare.

"Nine tails' jinchuriki, what are you thinking using fire in the land of water?"

"Shut up."

Naruto knew it was stupid but he had no other choice. His plan wasn't to attack, anyway. He was running out of options and he regretted even more that he forgot to take a peek inside the forbidden scroll of sealing.

ROAAR!

The fire dragon roared and blitzed at Yagura. Yagura didn't even bother moving and only created a shining mirror that faced the dragon.

ROAAAAAR!

Suddenly, when the chained dragon reached Yagura, it was deflected by the mirror.

Both Naruto and Yagura frowned.

'What's that mirror?' Naruto thought.

'Why couldn't the mirror copy it?' Yagura was shocked. 'Is it because it's fuinjutsu and not ninjutsu?'

Despite that, even though the mirror didn't copy the fire dragon, it was still able to deflect it with the help of the three tails' chakra.

'My chakra is getting harder and harder to use. Is it because of the chains?' Yagura theorized. Actually, ever since the chains tried to restrain him earlier, his chakra began protesting.

No, it wasn't his chakra, but rather the three tails'.

'I have to end the battle early.'

Yagura concluded when he saw Naruto turning back to run away. The latter's figure was disappearing rapidly, and Yagura scoffed.

"You can't run away so easily!"

Yagura muttered and opened his mouth.

Then, a black orb slowly manifested in front of his mouth. The black orb radiated power that made the remaining mist ninjas shiver in fear.

After the black orb reached a ball in size, Yagura fired it toward the escaping figure.

"Tailed beast bomb."

Naruto sensed the tailed beast bomb from a mile away and was anxious to get even further. But after Yagura fired the bomb at him, he realized that it was a fool's errand. The damned bomb was traveling faster than he could run!

'Naruto! Quick, unlock the seal!'

Kurama yelled and Naruto wasn't more hurried in his entire life than now. Unlocking Kurama's seal was both beneficial and detrimental.

One thing, his fuinjutsu would take a hit as his blood would get contaminated by the kyuubi. In exchange, Naruto could gain Kurama's power.

'I can find another way to separate mine and Kurama's chakra later. I can't reach the peak of fuinjutsu when I'm dead!'

Naruto thought as he fully unlocked the second seal locking Kurama up just in time as the bomb reached his face.

BOOOOOOOOOOOM!
