Chapter 17: Working for the Week

Ana couldn't remember the last time she had had such a good night's sleep. She typically slept a decent amount every night, but making love to Christian and sleeping in the warmth of his arms seemed to do something to her psyche, and she had sunk into a lovely deep slumber that went uninterrupted all night long.

However, the muffled sound of a cell phone alarm chiming woke her up far too early the next morning. She gradually pulled herself out of a deep sleep, and Christian, who hadn't moved from his spooning position all night, finally roused as he slowly slid his arm off her waist. He yawned and stretched before sliding out of bed to find his phone, which was likely in the pocket of his discarded pants.

Ana groaned as she rubbed her eyes and looked out the window. "What time is it?" she mumbled sleepily, noticing that the sun hadn't even risen yet.

"If my alarm's going off, then it must be five AM," Christian responded, his voice sounding groggy. Ana saw his darkened form kneel down beside his discarded pants before seeing the glow of his phone screen as he turned off his alarm.

"You wake up every morning at five?" Ana couldn't help but grumble, reaching over to turn on her bedside lamp so there could be some light in the room. She sat up, clutching the bed covers over her naked chest. "What kind of crazy person are you?"

Christian now straightened up, looking at her while still holding his phone in his hand. Ana suddenly felt like all the air had left her lungs: he didn't have a stitch of clothing on his gloriously muscled body, and Ana felt her heart rate spike as memories of last night immediately overtook her thoughts.

Christian smirked at the dumbfounded expression on her face. "I thought you already knew that I went to the gym everyday, Steele. Or have you forgotten?"

Ana swallowed, her eyes roving over his body again. "Oh, I definitely haven't forgotten," she murmured, instinctively biting her lip. Christian simply chuckled, leaning down to grab his discarded boxer briefs. "But still, you work out this early in the morning? You're definitely a crazy person."

"But an attractive one," Christian pointed out with a grin, slipping on his boxer briefs. Much to Ana's disappointment. "I should be heading back."

Ana felt her heart sink. "Oh," she said, glancing away. A part of her wished their time together could be a bit longer, but she supposed it wasn't up to her.

"Hey," Christian seemed to notice her disquiet, and he moved around the bed so he sat on the edge right next to her. He reached up and took her chin in his hand so she was looking at him; the tender look in his eyes made Ana's heart clench, and when he leaned forward to take her lips in a deep kiss, she didn't hesitate to kiss him back.

Christian was the one to finally pull away, though he kept his eyes closed as he pressed his forehead against hers. "Ana," he whispered after a moment, opening his eyes to look at her. "I was wondering if you would like to come over to my place for dinner tonight."

Ana blinked, pulling away slightly so she could look at him properly. "Really?" she asked. She hardly wanted to believe something more could happen between the two of them after last night, but maybe Christian was feeling the same as her.

He smiled, reaching up to tuck a piece of hair behind her ear. "Yes, really. I thought I made my feelings for you clear last night, Ana, but I want to be with you. I'd like to get the chance to really date you… if you'll let me, of course."

Ana couldn't fight the smile from crossing her face, feeling happy and rather relieved that Christian's feelings hadn't changed. "I'd like that," she said, a bit shyly, and Christian's answering grin made her feel as light as a cloud.

She suddenly let out a giggle. "So, Christian Grey is actually going to try to court me? Like a true and proper gentleman?" she asked teasingly, and Christian smirked at her. "I never thought I'd see the day."

"Oh, Miss Steele," Christian growled, leaning forward so his nose brushed against hers, and Ana's breath hitched. "There's nothing gentlemanly about what I want to do to you."

Ana tried her best to control her breathing, but was having a hard time. The two of them could only stare at each other: Ana wanted to point out to Christian that he was about to leave for the gym, but the words seemed to die in her throat.

Christian reached up to thread his fingers in Ana's hair, and with a firm tug he pulled her toward him, capturing her lips in a kiss. Ana obediently kissed him back, her hands automatically sliding up his bare chest and over his muscled shoulders. With a groan, Christian shifted forward so the two of them laid back down on the bed, and Ana immediately opened her mouth against his, reaching up to run her fingers through his hair…

"Mm… Ana…" Christian mumbled, and, with what seemed like a tremendous effort, pulled away. "We can't. I don't have another condom with me, and I don't trust myself not to thoroughly ravish you if we keep on like this."

Ana couldn't help but feel disappointed, though she gave him a small smirk. "Is that supposed to convince me to stop?"

Christian chuckled before leaning forward and pressing a sweet kiss to her lips, and Ana couldn't help but smile against him as she kissed him back.

Christian finally got up and walked over to his discarded clothes on the floor. "I really do need to get going. My apartment is all the way across town, and I want to try to get a small workout in before I head to work today."

Ana lay back down on the bed, grinning over at him. "Was the workout last night not enough for you, then?"

Christian shot her a look as he slipped on his pants, buttoning them up. "You and your smart mouth, Miss Steele," he shook his head with a smirk. "You really are trying to make this harder than it needs to be, aren't you?"

Ana bit her lip, fighting back her grin. "I hope so," she murmured, watching as Christian slid his shirt over his impressively muscular torso before gathering up his shoes, keys, and wallet.

"I don't know what I'm going to do with you, Steele," Christian said humorously, moving over to her side of the bed again and leaning down for another kiss, this one short and sweet. "But I can't wait to find out," he muttered against her lips. Ana smiled.

"I'll see you at work, Grey," she said, giving his shoulder a light push. He grinned at her again before pecking her on the lips one last time and finally heading out the door.

Ana didn't feel like going back to sleep after Christian left that morning, so she decided to get dressed and go into her living room to assemble the bookshelf they had picked up from IKEA yesterday. Being the daughter of a carpenter meant she was well-accustomed with putting together furniture, and this shelf was a pretty easy build. It was a basic two-tiered bookshelf, and she had bought it because it went well with her decor: she decided to display it on the back wall of her living room, privately thinking she would always keep it there as a reminder of the activities with Christian that followed their little field trip to Brooklyn. She couldn't help but grin at the thought.

Once done with the bookshelf, Ana showered and changed into her work clothes before gathering her things to head into the office for the day. Only a small part of her mind was on work, however – most of her thoughts were on Christian and how the two of them were going to navigate things while being in the same office space. Everything about their relationship had changed last night, and she had no idea how that would affect their jobs, but she hoped more than anything that it would all work out.

Ana took an Uber to the Kavanaugh Media building before heading up the elevator to the marketing floor. There weren't a lot of people in yet, and when Ana arrived at her and Christian's office, he wasn't there.

Ana set her purse on her desk, and had just slipped off her coat when Lorraine from HR suddenly appeared at her door.

"Good morning, Miss Steele," she said briskly, making her way inside. Ana noticed some paperwork in her hands.

"'Morning Lorraine," Ana said kindly. "What's up?"

"I have something for you to sign," she said, cutting right to the chase as she handed Ana one of the papers in her hands. "It's from IT – it's just a standard acknowledgement that they went through the company servers yesterday and were possibly accessing your computer files."

"Oh, right," Ana nodded, glancing over the form in her hands. "Did they find the source of the billing issue, do you know?"

"I have no idea. I just need you to sign the form," she said, her voice a bit clipped. She sounded impatient to get back to handing the forms out to people, so Ana simply went to find a pen so she could sign.

At that moment, Christian arrived, looking extremely handsome in his charcoal gray suit and dark blue tie. He gave the two women a polite smile as he walked over to his desk. "Good morning, ladies."

Ana felt her heart involuntarily start pounding in her chest, and she cleared her throat. "Um, 'morning Christian," she stammered, avoiding his gaze as she signed the form and handed it back to Lorraine.

"Thank you, Miss Steele. Mr. Grey, I have a form for you to sign," Lorraine stated, studiously turning to walk over to Christian. "It's the IT department acknowledging that they searched through the company servers yesterday and that they may have accessed your files in the process."

"Ah, okay," Christian nodded, his eyes roving over the form as he sat down behind his desk. As he searched for a pen, he glanced over at Ana. "So Ana, how was your day yesterday?"

Ana, who had just been powering on her computer, stopped to look at Christian. Did he seriously just ask her that in front of Lorraine? "It was fine," she said, giving him an odd look.

"That's good," Christian said casually, finally finding a pen and signing the form. "So you didn't do anything fun? Like go on a little shopping trip or something?"

Ana's heart pounded in her chest as she clenched her jaw, glaring at Christian from behind Lorraine's back. He was messing with her and he knew it. "Of course not – I was working from home all day. Just like you."

Christian handed the signed form back to Lorraine, who took it from him and walked briskly out of the room without another word. Once she was gone, Ana turned to glare at Christian once again, and he chuckled at the angry look on her face.

"Are you insane?" she asked, feeling supremely annoyed at his amusement. "You know that Lorraine is the head of HR, right?"

"I know. That's what makes it so funny," Christian smirked at her.

Ana still was not feeling amused as she rolled her eyes. "You know, if you wanted to announce our personal private business to everyone in the office, it would probably be best not to start with the meanest HR lady in the building."

"First of all, I didn't tell Lorraine anything," Christian said seriously. "And secondly, you and I haven't discussed how we would present our relationship to our coworkers yet, so you can rest assured I'm not about to announce anything to them."

Ana felt a bit surprised by Christian saying that, and her heart couldn't help but skip a beat or two at him calling what they had a 'relationship'. "I agree. We should at least wait until after our date tonight to decide how we're going to navigate this."

Christian's eyes smoldered a bit as he regarded her. "Sounds like a plan, Miss Steele," he said, his voice sounding rather husky.

Ana swallowed. "Glad you approve, Mr. Grey," she said quietly.

Christian turned back to his computer, and Ana turned back to hers, fighting back a smile. She suddenly felt rather excited for tonight.

The rest of the morning passed by at an agonizingly slow pace. Ana tried her best to concentrate on her work, but her eyes couldn't help but naturally gravitate to Christian every few minutes. She admired the way he leaned back in his seat as he was talking on the phone, or the way he lightly chewed on his pen as he was reading an email. Her mind kept drifting to the amazing things his mouth did to her body last night, and it didn't help that he kept meeting her eyes across the room and sending her smiles and winks every so often.

Is it hot in here? Ana wondered, using a nearby file folder to fan herself as she turned resolutely back to her computer.

When noon rolled around, Ana was just about to message Nadia and Jessica on Slack to see if they wanted to grab lunch when her phone buzzed with an incoming text. Glancing down at the screen, she noticed with some surprise it was from Christian.

Christian: 15th floor east wing. 5 mins

Ana glanced up at Christian, who was looking down at his phone. In one smooth movement, he slipped his phone into his inner suit pocket and got to his feet; he glanced at Ana, his eyes conveying some hidden meaning, before casually making his way to the door and stepping out, walking down the hallway toward the elevators.

Ana's heart pounded with excitement – the fifteenth floor was an area currently being renovated, so it was just a large, empty office space that would likely be deserted this time of day. She checked the time, planning to leave in five minutes like Christian suggested so no one would suspect they were meeting up.

The minutes passed by extremely slowly, but once five minutes had gone by, Ana grabbed a file folder, trying to look casual as she made her way to the elevators. If she ran into Max or another one of her coworkers, she would simply look like she was delivering some papers.

Thankfully, the elevator was empty when she stepped inside. However, just in case someone else came on from a different floor, she hit the button for the sixteenth floor instead of the fifteenth.

She got off on the sixteenth floor and slipped into the stairwell, thankfully undetected. She hurried down the steps to the floor below, the clicking sound of her heels echoing around the large empty stairwell. Once she made it to the fifteenth floor landing, she pushed open the door and walked inside.

She had barely stepped into the huge, partially-renovated space with clear tarp hanging from the ceiling when she felt someone suddenly grasp her waist from behind. She startled in surprise, but saw that it was just Christian.

"Christian," she whispered, pressing a hand to her chest to slow her pounding heart rate. "Don't scare me like that."

"I'm sorry, baby," Christian grinned, clearly not sorry as he pulled her up against his chest. He skated his lips along her neck, and Ana instinctively tilted her head back to give him better access. "I'm happy you came."

Ana couldn't help but smile. "How could I not? With you distracting me all morning?" She turned around in his arms, wrapping her own arms around his neck. "Are you sure we're alone?"

"Yup," Christian smirked, sliding his hands down so they grasped her pencil skirt-clad butt. "The renovation crew only comes in on the weekends, and it's off-limits to the rest of the building during work hours."

Ana raised her eyebrows in concern. "If it's off limits, what if someone catches us here?"

Christian didn't look worried in the slightest as he smiled, leaning down to brush his nose against hers. "What's life without a little risk, Ms. Steele?"

Before Ana could respond, Christian lifted her up in his arms as if she weighed next to nothing and carried her down an adjacent hallway. He turned a corner and walked into a small, hidden alcove with three walls and a doorway blocked by a piece of tarp. It was thankfully well-hidden from anyone who may wander onto this floor.

Ana couldn't help but giggle as Christian set her down. "Did you scope this place out, Grey?"

"So what if I did?" Christian responded huskily, and the next moment he had pushed her up against a nearby wall and kissed her, with Ana immediately responding in kind. She slid her fingers in his hair, tugging on his tresses as she got lost in his amazing kiss.

God, I needed this.

"Fuck, Ana…" Christian murmured against her lips after a moment, kissing her along her jaw and down her neck. "Sitting next to you all morning… and not being able to touch you… I've been going out of my mind."

Ana let out a breathless laugh. "I was thinking about you all morning too," she whispered, trying to control her breathing as Christian nipped at her collarbone. "But I don't want people to notice us missing."

Christian pulled away from her to look her in the eyes, smirking. "Then we should make this quick," he said, his eyes smoldering with desire as one hand slid to her lower back and grasped the zipper of her pencil skirt. "Don't you agree?"

Ana couldn't seem to respond as she stared up into Christian's eyes, and he didn't break her gaze as he lowered the zipper of her skirt. The next moment, her skirt slid down her bare legs and pooled around her feet, leaving her in nothing from the waist down except her lace black thong and closed toe heels.

Christian's breathing had become labored as he got a good look at her. "Fuck," he growled out sensually, and the next moment he began kissing along her neck again while his hand moved down to brush over her barely-covered sex. "You're so fucking beautiful, Ana… is this all for me, baby?"

"Yes," Ana gasped out, and Christian responded by letting out a growl and delving his hand into her panties, running his fingers over her folds. Ana whimpered at the amazing sensations he was producing in her, and she pressed her head back against the wall as she squeezed her eyes shut.

"Fuck, Ana. You're so wet for me already," he murmured against her neck. "I know we don't have a lot of time, but let me take care of you, baby."

Ana let out an involuntary moan as she felt Christian's fingers moving inside of her. "What about you?" she gasped out, and her hand automatically went to the crotch of his pants, feeling his erection.

Now it was Christian's time to groan. "I'm all yours, baby," he gasped out, moving his head up to press his forehead against hers.

Ana made quick work of his button and fly, even with Christian's fingers inside of her, and soon had his dick in her hand. Christian groaned as she moved her hand up and down, and he redoubled his effort in fingering her; Ana automatically lifted one of her legs to wrap around his waist, giving him a better angle.

"Fuck yeah, baby, open yourself up for me," Christian growled, wrapping his other arm around her waist and holding her upright as he rubbed her clit. "Give me everything."

Ana could only pant as the urgency built inside of her, and she continued to move her hand up and down Christian's dick. "Christian," she whimpered, feeling her orgasm closing in on her, and her hips automatically began to squirm. "Don't stop."

Christian moved his fingers even faster against her clit, bringing her quickly to her peak. "Come on baby. Come for me…" he growled out.

Ana suddenly keened, throwing her head back as she came, shudders wracking her body. Christian continued fingering her through her orgasm, and Ana knew she had soaked through her panties at this point.

"Fuck baby… you're so fucking beautiful," Christian moaned, bringing a hand up and placing it against the wall behind Ana and clenching his fist. "Oh God, I'm gonna come."

Ana hadn't released his dick even through her own orgasm, and once she had gotten her bearings back, she immediately dropped to her knees and took him into her mouth.

"Oh fuck yeah, Ana," Christian groaned, and Ana felt him twitch in her mouth. "That feels so good, baby."

Ana immediately began bobbing her head up and down and running her other hand along the base of his shaft. Christian began panting heavily, thrusting in and out of her mouth as he chased the finish line.

"Oh fuck, Ana, I'm gonna come," he said urgently, gritting his teeth. "Fuck, Ana I-I can't…I…"

At that moment his body jerked and he spurted down her throat with a loud groan. Ana swallowed down everything he had to give, feeling pleased and powerful that she was able to make this man lose control twice now in as many days.

Ana sucked and licked him clean before finally releasing him from her mouth with a small pop. She wiped her lower lip with her finger as she looked up at him through her lashes, smirking. He stared back at her, looking disheveled and gorgeous.

Christian held his hand out and helped Ana to her feet. "God, Ana," he muttered, shaking his head before pulling her in for a kiss. "You never cease to amaze me. I feel like I've dreamt about being with you a million times, but nothing compares to the reality. You really are a dream come true."

Ana felt her heart clench at his sweet words, and she smiled up at him. "Well, it helps that I'm kind of into you too," she said, a bit shyly, and Christian's answering smile made her heart soar. "I can't wait for our date tonight."

"Me neither," Christian said in a low voice filled with sensual promise. "I have a lot planned for you later, Miss Steele."

Ana smiled, moving up on her tiptoes to kiss his lips one more time. "I look forward to it, Mr. Grey."

Once Christian and Ana were somewhat decent, they headed back upstairs separately. Christian went back to the twentieth floor by himself while Ana went to the sixteenth floor to slip into the ladies room and check her hair and makeup. During their tryst, her lipstick had smudged a little and her hair looked a bit ruffled, but for the most part she thought she looked alright. No one would suspect she had just given a blowjob to her office mate in the off-limits renovation area on the fifteenth floor, at least.

Ana couldn't help but chuckle to herself, shaking her head. Never in a million years did she think she would do something like that, but Christian just seemed to bring it out of her.

Once finished in the bathroom, Ana went to the elevators and made her way up to the twentieth floor, hoping fervently that nobody noticed her absence.

She began walking down the hallway toward her office, but before she arrived, she saw Jessica standing and looking at something beyond Ana's line of sight, a small frown on her face.

"Hey Jess," Ana greeted her friend, approaching her, and Jessica looked over at her.

"Ana," she said, and Ana could hear the concern in her voice. "I was just coming over to ask if you wanted to grab lunch. Do you know what's going on?"

Ana frowned in confusion. "What do you mean?" she asked. Jessica gestured to what she had been looking at, and Ana turned to look.

They were about ten feet away from Ana and Christian's office. Through the glass wall, Ana could see Christian standing behind his desk and talking to two other people: their boss Max and the CEO Eamon Kavanaugh. Christian looked rather pissed, and it appeared as if they were arguing about something. Their angry muffled voices were causing passersby to turn and stare.

"No, I have no idea what's going on," Ana muttered, watching the interaction with concern.

"Do you think Christian's in trouble?" Jessica asked worriedly. Ana suddenly felt a brief moment of panic as she wondered if their bosses had found out what she and Christian had been doing downstairs.

Oh God, are we about to be fired?

Trying to school her features, Ana stepped away from Jessica and walked toward the office, pushing open the door:

"…you say that when you don't even have any proof!" Christian snapped at Mr. Kavanaugh just as Ana entered. The three men went silent as they looked over at her.

"Everything alright?" she asked, a bit nervously, glancing at Christian. He looked away from her.

"Yes, Miss Steele, everything is fine," Mr. Kavanaugh addressed her, looking over at Christian again. "We were just asking Mr. Grey to vacate the premises pending further investigation."

Ana frowned. "What are you talking about?" she asked, looking between Mr. Kavanaugh and Christian. Nobody answered for a moment.

"Ana, this isn't really something we can discuss openly," Max said quietly to her, moving over and placing his hand on her arm. "Maybe you and I can wait outside…"

"No, tell me what is going on," Ana insisted, afraid of what they were hiding.

"Kavanaugh here is saying that IT found evidence on my computer suggesting I was the one overbilling clients," Christian finally bit out, glaring at Mr. Kavanaugh. "Even though I can say with absolute certainty that I didn't do it, and he can't provide any evidence suggesting otherwise."

"Mr. Grey, you are not at liberty to discuss this," Mr. Kavanaugh said to Christian, his voice tinged with anger. "This is an active investigation and we are asking you to leave this office until further notice. I wanted to do this quietly, but if you are going to continue arguing, I will not hesitate in calling security."

Christian still looked angry, and he was clearly about to argue back. However, when he glanced over at Ana, he saw her expression of fear and concern, and that seemed to rein him in a bit. With one last glare at Mr. Kavanaugh, Christian grabbed his briefcase and stalked out of the room.

A/N: Ooh boy… how many of you were expecting that? 0_0
