"Excuse me, sirs," he said, "may this gentleman gain your attention for a moment?" He said as a kind smile formed on his face.
"Huh? Who are you?" One of them said. "Yes, I thank you for your attention," Naruto ignored him and kept talking, though the eyes of the two gossiping men seemed to dull.
"Now, let's get over there so I can tell you about this amazing thing!" Naruto said and led the two hypnotized men to a private room, never to be seen again.
"What do you know about Konoha," Naruto asked when they were no longer visible to the public. His smile had long vanished like the fleeting breeze.
"A civil war erupted in Konoha after the snake sannin's attack. Since then, Jiraiya-sama has been trying to eradicate the rebel forces with no luck," the first person said. Seeing the second person not replying, Naruto took out a kunai and slit his throat.
CHRKK!
He was using genjutsu to interrogate the two, so if they didn't speak, then it means that they didn't know anything.
"Since when did the toad sannin become the Hokage?" He inquired.
"Since the snake sannin's attack," the man replied.
"What about Tsunade… the slug sannin?"
"She is helping Jiraiya-sama," the man replied again.
"Who is Danzo's disciple?" Naruto asked, but the man remained silent. Naruto clicked his tongue and asked another question, "What do you know about Danzo's disciple?"
"Lord Danzo's disciple has golden blonde hair and blue eyes. It is rumored that he is the son of the Fourth Hokage and the grandson of the Second Hokage," the man answered, though Naruto's mind blanked at the reply he received.
"What the fuck?" Naruto cursed unwittingly as he began to ponder the answer. 'Rumors really do intend to escalate. Firstly, father had no second son so that's false. Secondly, the second hokage never married, so that's not possible either… unless he had a secret son or daughter,' Naruto narrowed his eyes.
'But the Senju clan isn't really known for their blue eyes, but it's not that far of a stretch.'
After finishing his line of thought, Naruto narrowed his eyes further. 'If he's the grandson of the Second Hokage, then this will be troublesome. Godfather will have to fight both physically and politically.'
After pondering for a good moment, Naruto asked the man, "Why is he the Second Hokage's grandson?"
It was a stupid question that could be answered with, "Because he is the son of the Second Hokage's son," or something similar. But when dealing with rumors…
"Because he is extremely skilled at Water Ninjutsu," the man answered, much to Naruto's relief.
'So that's it? Then Danzo's disciple shouldn't be the Second Hokage's grandson… at least, the chances of it being the case is lowered,' Naruto smirked. "What a gaudy propaganda."
CHRKK!
After slitting the man's throat, Naruto stood up and sealed away the bodies and blood of the two men. 'Should I go to Konoha?' He was about to open the doorknob when he paused. His hand twitched, and a myriad of scenarios appeared in his mind like a plague.
'Can Godfather control the civil war? Will it be similar to Kirigakure? Is Godfather safe?'
.
.
.
"What an idiot," Naruto chuckled to himself. Was Jiraiya okay? Was he safe? The answer was plainly obvious.
'Of course, he is.'
CREAAAK—
As he opened the door, he saw the group chattering to themselves in one corner. The five children had somehow fallen asleep. When the group saw him, they all turned away to leave the shop after giving him a discreet nod.
Naruto nodded back and turned to say goodbye to the ramen shop owner.
"Come back to Ichiraku's!"
After leaving the shop, Naruto beelined to the nearest dark alley and when no one could see him, he flickered away.
"What happened?" Zabuza asked as he watched Naruto flicker next to them. "Nothing. Let's go to the Land of Whirlpools now. Is everyone ready?" Naruto asked and received nods from the entire group.
"Good."
As the group prepared to head out, Naruto summoned a toad after writing a letter on a scroll. "Send this to my godfather," Naruto said. The toad nodded before vanishing in a puff of smoke.
In a thick gathering of trees, eight figures dashed toward the east. It was Naruto and his group after they left the town.
The five children had been sealed away once again to avoid their traveling speed going down. They were near the coast and only had to travel a few more hours when they were forced to stop.
In front of them were three people, each carrying their own weapon of choice.
"Hmm?" A middle-aged man tilted his head at the sight of Naruto and his group. Seeing the familiar crimson hair of Naruto and Karin, he furrowed his brows in irritation. "Damned Uzumaki," he cursed and glanced at the old man in their group.
"Fufu," the old man chuckled as the only woman in the group clicked her tongue. "Oi, you bunch of brats. Move aside before us adults make you," she said.
Naruto frowned as he remembered the three people in front of him. "It's nice to meet the White Bear Emperor, the Blood Rose, and the Phantom Senbon."
"Oh? You know about us?" White Bear Emperor raised his brow. Meanwhile, Blood Rose gained a tick mark on her forehead. "Fucking—are you deaf? I just told you to move out!" The woman roared and out of nowhere, she pulled out a thin sword.
SWISH—TANG!
"Careful, you might hurt someone," Naruto narrowed his eyes as he blocked Blood Rose's strike with his chokuto.
"Oh?" The old man, Phantom Senbon, looked at Naruto with a glimmer in his eyes. 'I think I've seen that sword before,' he thought when Naruto gave him a discreet nod. He narrowed his eyes at the gesture, 'I don't think I know him?'
As he was speculating, Naruto and his group suddenly flickered and disappeared.
"Tsk, what annoying brats," Blood Rose muttered before trudging toward their destination.
Meanwhile, Naruto suddenly realized something as he paused. The group was used to it and merely halted with him as he began forming hand seals.
'Those bandit leaders are moving toward Konoha.'
POOF—SCRIBBLE…
As a toad appeared in front of Naruto, he waited patiently for Naruto to finish writing on a scroll. "Bring this to Godfather," Naruto said. The toad nodded and swallowed the scroll before disappearing.
'The old man should be godfather's ally, but the other two are dangerous. They may cause chaos in Konoha and if given the opportunity, even Godfather may be in trouble,' Naruto concluded. If he could, he would've liked to deal with the three then and there, but he was out of supplies.
The worst part, he couldn't restock as it took too much focus and time.
As for why he didn't rely on his team to deal with the three, 'The old man alone is a headache to us. It's like facing off against Zabuza, but multiple times worse.'
'With my warning to Godfather, he should be able to prepare appropriately. After all, even a kage can die to a kunai.'
After reaching the shore a few hours later by sunset, Naruto and Co. stopped at a hidden cave.
"Zabuza, go get us a boat," Naruto ordered and three days later, Zabuza came back with a few unwilling crew in tow. "Let's depart," Zabuza said. Naruto nodded and led the group into the boat.
The boat was medium-sized and the group, plus the crew that Zabuza "recruited," could fit right in. It didn't take them a day to reach the land of whirlpools with the help of Naruto's Big Ball Rasengan.
"Damned maniac," Karin cursed as she held her head, trying to stop the incoming headache from worsening. "Next time, remind me not to travel with you… on a boat," Karin spat out. Naruto merely shrugged his shoulders.
"There won't be a next time…" Naruto said, but then felt as if something was wrong. 'Did I just jynx myself?' He thought and was about to take back his words when Hinata spoke up.
"This place is still as beautiful as before," she smiled and took in the surroundings.
"Yeah, if near-death experiences are as beautiful as roses," Zabuza scoffed.
