"Good morning and welcome to Just the Facts. I am your host G Gordon Godfrey. Finally, we finally have someone bringing sanity back to this world. As reported this morning by Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane, Lex Luthor has announced his campaign for presidency. His platform is running on anti-alien immigrations. And I'm not just talking about the ones from south of the border, I am referring to the extra-terrestrials. I believe I've been saying this on my show for years now and it appears that someone with the right resources is finally speaking up. Look at the influx of alien life in recent times. It all started with that Kryptonian you people have decided to don as Superman. But what about the Martian Manhunter, tell me that name doesn't sound rather ominous to you. Then let's talk about the whole concept of the Justice League. Superman, a near god like being, Wonder Woman, an amazon of incredible power we know very little about, Batman, a criminal residing in Gotham City, Martian Manhunter, a literal Martian you people just decided to accept, Flash, a meta-human with super speed abilities, Green Lantern, a space cop with ultra-powerful jewelry, and Aquaman, a king with power over water and sea life. And you people think we should just cheer on these so called heroes. It's time for someone to stand up to this ni-invincible force. Thank you Lex Luthor and God bless you."
Today Superman was summoned to STAR Labs by Silas Stone. Superman hadn't been here since the death of his friend Professor Hamilton at the hands of Doomsday. He had heard that Stone was colder and rather unwelcoming. He did meets Stone's son Victor, aka Cyborg, with the Titans. Not that that was public knowledge, though ever since Victor's accident his relationship with his father wasn't on the best of terms. Victor was a star football player at Detroit High School. He had full ride scholarships from Texas, Ohio State, and Notre Dame all lined up. That was until a lab accident at the Detroit STAR Labs facility. Silas saved his sons life, but Victor hasn't been on speaking terms with him since. Superman enters STAR Labs. He sees Silas working away on his computer.
"Professor Stone, it's nice to meet you." Superman says as he extends his hand for a shake.
"Superman, thank you for coming." Silas says, not breaking his concentration from his computer.
"What can I help you with?" Superman asks.
Silas finally looks up.
"That's just it, I don't know if you can help us." Silas says.
Superman raises an eyebrow.
"Our telescopes have found something. A large meteor heading for earth." Silas says.
"So what, you need me to fly to space and push it off course?" Superman asks.
"I'm afraid it's not that simple." Silas says.
"Why not?" Superman asks.
"The meteor, it's made entirely of Kryptonite." Silas says.
"What?! How long do we have?" Superman asks, his eyes widening.
"By our calculations we have twenty-three days before it hits earth." Silas says.
Later, Superman has called for a meeting with the Justice League at their secret base at Happy Harbor. All members are there.
"So that's it, there's a Kryptonite meteor heading towards earth and we have twenty-three days before it hits." Superman says.
"Can't we just shoot some missiles at it and blow it up?" Flash asks.
"If we do, small shards of Kryptonite will fall all over the earth. That could potentially be worse." Batman says.
"Isn't there any way we could push it off course? John, couldn't you repel it with your ring?" Wonder Woman asks.
"I might be able to guide it in the atmosphere, but at its size, pushing it away doesn't seem likely." Green Lantern says.
"If we can guide it towards the sea, perhaps I could take it from there." Aquaman suggests.
"Let's think about this a little more and meet back up to discuss tomorrow." Superman says.
The league members begin to leave. Batman stays behind to talk with Superman.
"When you called us here, I thought it was going to be about Luthor's bid for presidency." Batman says.
"You don't think that could really happen, do you?" Superman asks.
"It might. There seems to be more public support in him opposing us than I would have guessed." Batman says.
"Let's worry about the meteor first, we have four months to figure out Lex's scheme." Superman says.
Lex begins tracking the meteor himself. He runs simulations to try and predict where the meteor will land himself. Based on his calculations, without any interference, it will hit the country of Kaznia.
Kaznia was a small country off the eastern coast of Russia. It was a monarchy lead by King Gustav. Whether or not it was officially part of Russia was a topic of hot debate. Lex sought an audience with the king.
A week went by and the Justice League continued to devise their plan. By this point, they too have learned that the meteor is estimated to hit Kaznia.
"I'm looking at the size of this meteor, and I may be able to steer it, but it won't be easy." Green Lantern says.
"The first concern is to get it away from the land, into the water." J'onn says.
"But get it too close and a title wave will still come for the main land." Aquaman warns.
Superman watches on. He feels so helpless, like there is nothing he can do.
"Sometimes you have to let others help." Batman tells Superman.
"I believe I told you that once." Superman says.
"You did." Batman says.
"Doesn't seem like its advice you like taking." Superman says.
"You either." Batman says.
"If we can get it into international waters, I can take it to Atlantis. It will be safe there." Aquaman says.
The League agree on the plan.
Lex Luthor arrives in Kaznia, at the royal castle of the king. He is escorted by the king's guards.
"Mr. Luthor, I understand you have a proposition for me." King Gustav says.
"As you know, a kryptonite meteor is headed for your country." Lex says.
"Why are you reporting what is going on in my own country?" The king asks.
"Because this could be very lucrative, kryptonite is very rare, and could be worth a fortune, especially as a deterrent from a certain extra-terrestrial threat." Lex says.
"But Superman fights for good." King Gustav says.
"So they say." Lex says.
"What do you want? Me to allow the meteor to hit? Killing my own citizens." King Gustav asks.
"The Justice League is already making plans to save your precious people. They want the meteor to hit your waterline." Lex says.
"And?" King Gustav asks.
"And I don't want them touching the meteor after that. I want it for… research." Lex says.
"If it's as valuable as you believe why should I just give it to you." King Gustav asks.
"You wouldn't. I know all about your countries history. How Russia won't leave you alone and live in peace. I could give you the weapons to fight back against your oppressor." Lex says.
King Gustav considers this proposal for a moment. LexCorp's weaponry was the best in the world.
"Alright Mr. Luthor, you have yourself a deal." Lex says.
The weeks go by and the time for the meteor to hit comes. Superman has no choice but to wait it out on the other side of the Earth. Batman and Wonder Woman fly above the area in Batman's Batwing. J'onn, Flash and Aquaman wait on the ground. Green Lantern waits up in space.
"I see it." Green Lantern says.
Green Lanterns tries to encase it in a green beam emitted from his ring. He wants to throw it off course before it even the Earth. It's so massive though. He doesn't have the strength to do it. The meteor hurdles into the atmosphere. Green Lantern fights with all his might to steer it away from land. Suddenly he begins to see yellow and is overcome with a sensation of fear. His concentration breaks, and so does his construct.
"NO!" Green Lantern yells out.
"Your up." Batman says.
He ejects Wonder Woman from the Batwing. She flies to the meteor and ties her lasso around a shard of it.
"Hera give me strength." She says.
J'onn flies up to help push it. Try as they might, the meteor is so large they are unable to push it too far off course.
Green Lantern regains himself. He creates a construct of a giant claw. He grabs hold of the meteor and works to push it off course. The meteor touches down in the water, but closer to the land at the league had hoped. Flash begins running back and forth in an attempt to push the wave back. Aquaman sticks his trident into the ground, he uses his command of the water in an attempt to push it back. It is so powerful though, he is unsure he can do hit. Suddenly he feels it become a lot easier. He looks to his right and sees his wife Mera aiding him. He looks to his left and sees Kaldur'ahm, Aqualad, helping as well. Just before the wave hits land, it fizzles.
Aquaman falls to his knees and takes deep breaths.
"Thank you, my friend, and my wife." Aquaman says.
"The day is saved." Flash says as he speeds up to them.
"Is everyone alright?" J'onn asks.
"I- I don't know what happened, I just lost it." Green Lantern says.
"John, we did it, the people are safe." Aquaman says.
"I'll get some Atlantean troops to tow the meteor away." Aquaman says.
"I don't think so." King Gustav says, an army of Kaznian troops with him.
"What is the meaning of this?" Wonder Woman asks.
"That meteor is in Kaznian waters, making it property of the Kaznian government." King Gustav says.
"You can't be serious." Flash says.
"I am. You have done your job, now go home." King Gustav says.
"What do we do?" Wonder Woman asks.
"Leave, we can't risk an international incident." Batman says.
The team heads off, unhappy about this revelation.
"Get me a diving team." King Gustav says.
Elsewhere, Lex is meeting with someone. A shadowy figure
"You played your part perfectly." Lex says.
"I don't care about your money or your meteor, I just want the lantern's ring." The figure says says.
"Patience. I promise you will have it by the end of the year." Lex says.
The figure flies off.
Lex's phone rings.
"Luthor here." He says as he answers it.
"Mr. Luthor, it's King Gustav."
"Your majesty, do you have my prize?" Lex asks.
"Well, we found something." King Gustav says.
When the diving team went to retrieve parts of the meteor, the found a pod. And inside the pod was a girl.
