"This is Angela Chen reporting for Metropolis News Five. It has been one week since the kryptonite meteor hit off the coast of Kaznia. Thanks to the efforts of the Justice League, countless casualties were avoided. Lex Luthor is heading to Kaznia today to offer help with any other necessary relief efforts. Though with his presidential campaign underway, he will be forced to name a new president of LexCorp in the near future."
Lex's helicopter touches down in Kaznia. He is taken to King Gustav's royal castle.
"What do you have for me your majesty?" Lex asks.
"This pod, it was found inside a section of the meteor my divers were mining." King Gustav says.
Lex studies to pod for a moment. He's unsure of what exactly to make of it. There is a window on the front of it. A window that is fogged over. Lex brushes away the condensation and inside the pod is a young girl.
"What is the meaning of this?" Lex asks.
"We're unsure." King Gustav says.
Lex studies the situation. The girl looks to be in her mid-teens. She has long blonde hair. She was asleep, perhaps even in some form of hibernation.
"Open it." Lex says.
"I'm afraid we don't know how." King Gustav says.
Lex squints his eyes. He studies the pod from all sides. On the right he sees some sort of inscription. It's not something he can read though. It looks alien. As he studies it, one of the characters looks familiar. It was the symbol on Superman's chest. There was no doubt in his mind, this girl was Kryptonian. He continues to study the pod and finds a panel of buttons. There is a large green one that stands out to him. He presses it.
Air from the pod releases as the door opens up. The girl falls to her knees.
"Uhh." She groans.
Lex kneels over and gently puts his arms on her shoulders.
"Are you alright?" Lex asks.
"Father, where is my father?" She asks.
"Calm down, I want to help you." Lex says calmly.
"Whats going on, where am I?" She asks.
"What do you remember?" Lex asks.
"I- I remember… The girl thinks for a moment.
Krypton Thirty-Five Years Ago
Kara sits at the dinner table with her mother, Alura, and father, Zor-El. Her father is going off about a disagreement he has been having with his brother, Jor-El.
"I just don't get him sometimes; he can be so stubborn." Zor-El says.
"He should know better than to go around fear mongering the people the way he does." Alura says.
"Daddy, isn't there any way we could get along with Uncle Jor-El?" Kara asks.
"I don't know sweetheart, I'd like to, but he has to be able to admit when he's wrong." Zor-El says.
"But the have a new baby, I'd love to be able to see my cousin." Kara says.
"A few more years and you may have one of your own." Alura says.
"Alura!" Zor-El scolds.
"What? I was twenty when we had Kara." She says.
"I just hope-
The ground beneath them begins to shake.
"Another one?" Kara asks.
"It's okay, we'll be okay." Zor-El says.
It doesn't stop though. The ground just continues to shake more and more violently. A cabinet in the kitchen falls over.
"Zor." Alura says.
Zor-El looks at his wife.
"Kara come with me." Zor-El says.
"Daddy, what's going on?" Kara asks.
"Just come with me, you're going to be fine." Zor-El says.
Zor-El takes Kara to their basement.
"I've been working on this just in case." Zor-El says.
"In case of what?" Kara asks.
Zor-El reveals a pod. He opens it as the ground continues to shake.
"Get in." He says.
"Why daddy, what's going on?" Kara asks.
"Kara, there isn't time, get in!" He commands.
"You'll be safe in here." He says.
"Safe from what?" Kara asks.
"I love you baby girl." Zor-El says.
"Daddy." Kara says.
Zor-El closes the pod. Kara can only watch on as he runs up the stairs.
"DADDY! DADDY!" Kara cries out.
Then, there is nothing but a white flash of light.
Kaznia Present
"And I woke up here." Kara says.
"I regret to tell you this, but that happened years ago." Lex says.
"What?! But it couldn't have, it just-
"If that is true, how is she still a child?" King Gustav asks.
"The pod along with the meteor must have created a cocoon for her. Keeping her in some sort of suspended animation." Lex says.
Lex also notes that she doesn't seem to be affected by the near proximity of kryptonite. Perhaps being encased in it helped her build some sort of tolerance. This could be useful to him in the future.
Kara looks around, she studies her surroundings.
"Where are we?" She asks.
"You are on a planet called Earth." Lex says.
"But Krypton." Kara says.
"Krypton is gone." Lex says.
"No, I don't believe you." Kara says as she begins to run away.
She runs to the outside courtyard and is hit with a blinding light. Her senses overload. She can hear everything, see everything. She drops to her knees.
"Kara, Kara!" Lex yells.
Kara begins to take control of her senses.
"Wh- what sort of harsh environment is this?" Kara asks.
"I can help you." Lex says.
Lex looks up at King Gustav.
"I want to take the girl with me." Lex says.
"What? Why should I just give you this being?" King Gustav asks.
Lex pulls out his check book and writes a check. He hands it to the king.
"Take her." King Gustav says.
Lex takes Kara back to America. He brings her to his office at LexCorp.
"This is where I work." Lex says.
Kara runs over and looks out the window. She is in awe of the city below.
"It reminds me of Kandor." She says.
She looks out at the city when a particular billboard catches her eye. It has Superman on it.
"What is that?" Kara asks.
"What?" Lex responds.
"That, that man, he is wearing my families crest." Kara says.
"Kara, settle down." Lex says.
"Are there more Kryptonians here? I have to find him." Kara says, as she runs past Lex towards the exit of his office.
"Kara stop!" Lex commands.
To Lex's surprise, she actually does.
"Turn around." Lex says.
Kara does so. Something seems different. She seems calmer, open to all of Lex's suggestions. Lex quickly realizes why. Kara is standing near the wall of his office. Lex runs his hand along the wall.
"Punch the wall, right here." Lex says.
Kara does so. A red glow comes from behind the wall. Lex reaches in and grabs the chunk of red kryptonite. It was ineffective against Superman, but it seems to be working on Kara. Another interesting revelation to Lex. Kara seemed to have an immunity to green kryptonite, but was effected by Lex's red kryptonite, and for Superman, it was the opposite.
"What is that?" Kara asks.
"This is a gift for you." Lex says.
