Out in the galaxy, there was a planet with beings from many other planets. This was a favorite spot for many intergalactic underground dealings. Inside a particular bar sat Lobo, one of the most infamous bounty hunters in the galaxy. He has pale white-gray skin and long black hair. He was usually clad in black biker pants and some form of black vest.
"Hey bar keep, let's go!" Lobo demands.
"What is it this time Lobo?" The bar tender asks.
"Come on I got a big score to waste and I need my booze!" Lobo says.
"You already spent, you want more, I need more money." She says.
"Aw come on, just a little for me, you know I'm your favorite." Lobo says.
"You wish Czarnian." The bar tender says.
Lobo pulls out his riffle.
"Give me the booze or I'll blow this whole place sky high!" Lobo threatens.
The bar tender rolls her eyes.
"Always with the theatrics." She says.
"Grrrr." Lobo growls.
"Pay your debt." The bar tender says.
Just then a Warzoon enters the establishment. He walks up to Lobo.
"What do you want runt? Can't you see I'm in the middle of some peaceful negotiations here?" Lobo asks.
The Warzoon offers a holo-pad to Lobo. He takes it and activates it. A holographic image of Mongul appears.
"Hello Lobo. I am in need of new gladiators on War World. My team has scouted out some potential talent on a planet called Earth. I need you to travel there and retrieve me the being they call Superman." Mongul says.
"Superman?" Lobo reacts.
An image of Superman comes up on the screen.
"Looks like a first-rate chump to me." Lobo says.
"Do this and I will reward you with forty-thousand credits." Lobo says.
"Holy cannoli! That's a lot of cheddar." Lobo says.
The screen then goes blank.
"Tell your boss the main man is on it." Lobo says to the Warzoon.
The Warzoon nods and takes off.
Lobo turns back to the bar tender.
"Keep the drinks cold, I'll be back." Lobo says.
"Pay your tab." She says.
"You know I'm good for it. The main man's word is his bond." Lobo says.
"Ha, yeah." She says with an eye roll.
"Earth, eh? They better like their booze there." Lobo says.
Lobo turns to head out of the bar. He pulls out his riffle and shoots a patron on his way out. He turns around to the bar tender again.
"Didn't want you to think I was goin' soft." Lobo says as he heads off.
Back in Metropolis, the red light goes on as G Gordon Godfrey goes on the air.
"Welcome to a very special edition of Just the facts. I am your host G Gordon Godfrey and I am joined by a very special guest today, presidential candidate Lex Luthor."
"Happy to be here Mr. Godfrey." Lex says.
"Mr. Luthor, I don't even know where to begin. It's been about six weeks since you announced your candidacy and it seems like so much has happened since then." Godfrey says.
"It's been a whirlwind for sure. I've been keeping myself occupied tying up some loose ends before stepping down as LexCorp president." Lex says.
"Let's start right there. Have you officially stepped down from LexCorp?" Godfrey asks.
"The paper work is being finalized, but yes my time there is just about at the end." Lex says.
"And who is the new chairperson?" Godfrey asks.
"Mercy Graves. She has been my assistant for many years and is highly qualified." Lex says.
"Well congratulations to her. Lex, my next question is that you have decided to run as an independent, not tying yourself to either major party. Why is that?" Godfrey asks.
"Every few years you see the balance in Washington change. For a few years the democrats will control everything, then the republicans. And everything always meets in the middle, and nothing ever gets done. I think it's about time we buck that trend and give people something new to believe in." Lex says.
"And your big platform has been your outspoken criticism of the Justice League and alien life on Earth in general." Godfrey says.
"That's correct. Who governs the Justice League? They freely go from country to country claiming to offer help however they see best fit. But where's the line. And what does it teach people to strive for if these gods from the sky are going to swoop down and solve their problems?" Lex asks.
"Hey you're preaching to the choir here." Godfrey says.
"And as far as aliens go, since Superman made himself public, these beings seem to flock here as if we heave endless resources. Look at the list of enhanced beings revealing themselves in the past few years: Superman, Martian Manhunter, The Flash, Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman, Starfire, Miss Martian, Black Adam, the list goes on and on and on." Lex says.
"It's what I've been warning the people about on a daily basis." Godfrey says.
"Well, I intend to run on a human first basis." Lex says.
"Well, this is one unbiased host who can say I am very interested to see how your campaign plays out. Best of luck." Godfrey says.
"Thank you." Lex says.
Clark was in Central City today. He was visiting Barry Allen and his wife Iris. They had just given birth to their daughter, Nora.
"She's beautiful." Clark says.
"We're just so happy." Barry says.
"So Clark, what about you and Lois? Are wedding bells in the air?" Iris asks.
"I thought they were, but it's just been such a crazy year." Clark says.
"I can imagine, with the whole coming back from the dead and all." Barry says.
"Barry!" Iris scolds.
"It's alright. It's just very weird missing out on a year of your life." Clark says.
"Hey I can relate. I got struck by a lightening bolt and was in a coma for nine months." Barry says.
Nora crawls to Barry and tugs on his leg.
"Aw, hello there girl." Barry says as he picks up his daughter.
"So Iris, are you going back to GBS?" Clark asks.
"I hope so, and soon. I can't let Snapper Carr get all the good stories." Iris says.
The phone rings, Iris goes to answer it.
"You want to hold her?" Barry asks Clark.
"Sure." Clark says.
Clark cradles Nora in his arms. Iris reenters the room.
"Barry, the Trickster is back. He's wreaking havoc downtown." Iris says.
Barry sighs.
"I'm on it." Barry says.
"You want help?" Clark asks.
"Actually, there's something else going on in Metropolis." Iris says.
Downtown Metropolis Lobo is making a scene. He is blasting out building walls and smashing up cars in the down town district.
"Frag this is boring. These people are so weak. Where's this Superman that's supposed to be so special. Superman? Oh Superman!" Lobo hollers out.
"You were looking for me?" A voice from behind says.
Lobo turns around and sees Superman hovering above him.
"Finally." Lobo says.
"Who are you? What do you want?" Superman asks.
"Names Lobo, the main man. But I'm sure my reputation proceeds me." Lobo says.
"Actually no, I've never heard of you." Superman says.
"Come on, I'm the fiercest bounty hunter in the galaxy." Lobo says.
Superman shrugs.
"Well then, here's my card." Lobo says.
Lobo punches Superman square in the jaw. It knocks Superman to the ground.
"Hmph, I knew this fraggin' guy wasn't that tough." Lobo says.
Superman flies back up and charges right at Lobo. He hits him in the gut and tackles him to the ground. Superman pulls his arm back, but hesitates before throwing a punch.
"What's wrong blue?" Lobo asks as he punches Superman off of him.
Superman didn't know what to make of this being. Why was he here, what did he want, and if Superman punched him, could he take it? These were all the questions running through Superman's mind.
Lobo swings another punch at Superman. Superman grabs Lobo's arm and spins him around. He puts Lobo in a headlock from behind. Lobo grabs the back of Superman's neck and swings him over his shoulder.
"Now look, someone is paying me a lot of money to bring you in." Lobo says.
Lobo grabs Superman by the throat. Superman punches Lobo back. Lobo staggers, but stays on his feet. Superman realizes Lobo can take a punch. Superman charges forward and punches Lobo again and again.
"Frag, you actually do pack a punch." Lobo says.
Lobo grabs a gun from his holster. He begins firing laser beams at Superman. The shots sting Superman, but not terribly. Superman charges forward and grabs the gun. He smashes hit in Lobo's hand.
"Hey, that was my twelfth favorite pistol." Lobo says.
Superman punches Lobo in the face. Lobo flies back into a dumpster.
"Okay, that tears it." Lobo says as he whistles.
Behind Superman, Lobo's ride shows up. It was basically a flying motorcycle. It shot a rocket out at Superman. Superman catches the rocket. The rocket expels some sort of gas. Superman begins coughing. He turns around and Lobo punches him in the face. He falls to the ground. Lobo begins punching him repeatedly. Superman is dazed. He looks around in a fog as citizens around panic. He then blacks out. Lobo goes to his bike and grabs a chain. He ties Superman up with it. He puts a mask on Superman's face that will allow him to breath in space. Lobo then loads Superman up on his bike and flies.
A taxi pulls up to the scene. Lois and Jimmy step out. All they can do is watch as Superman is taken away.
"Where are you off to this time?" Lois asks to herself.
Superman opens his eyes. He is in space. Lobo is flying them somewhere. Where that is, Superman doesn't know. He begins to shake.
"Easy Super dude. We'll be there soon." Lobo says.
"Where?" Superman asks.
"Our destination." Lobo says.
"What is this, where are you taking me?" Superman asks.
"You ask a lot of fraggin' questions. Lucky for you, he wants you alive." Lobo says.
"Who?" Superman asks again, annoyed.
Lobo says nothing. Superman breaks out of the chains and begins to fly off.
"Oh no you don't." Lobo says as he flies after him.
"Look guy, you're out in in the middle of space and that mask isn't going to help you forever. So I think its best you just see this through." Lobo says.
Superman looks around. He hated to admit it, but Lobo was right. He didn't know what direction to go. Right now, Lobo was his best chance. He reluctantly gets back on Lobo's bike.
"There you go. Want a smoke?" Lobo asks as he offers Superman a cigar.
"No thanks." Superman says.
"Suit yourself." Lobo shrugs, as he lights one up for himself.
The two eventually arrive at War World. Lobo parks by the coliseum.
"See to it nobody messes with my ride." Lobo says to a nearby Warzoon.
Lobo and Superman enter the coliseum. They are taken to Mongul.
"This is it?" Mongul asks as he studies Superman.
"He may not look like a lot, but trust me, he's gots it where it counts." Lobo says as he rubs where Superman punched him on his chin.
Mongul looks Superman up and down. He sees that he is still holding part of the chain he broke out of earlier.
"Give me that." Mongul says as he rips the chains out of Superman's hands.
"Chains are earned here." Mongul continues.
"What do you want?" Superman asks.
"I want to give you a chance to prove your dominance. This is my world Superman, where the fiercest warriors come to prove themselves." Mongul says.
"Not interested." Superman says.
"You don't have a choice." Mongul says.
A Warzoon sneaks up behind Superman and locks a collar around his neck. Mongul hits a button sending a large shock to the collar.
"AHHHHH!" Superman yells in pain.
He falls to the ground.
"Rest up. I want you ready for your fight." Mongul says.
Back on Earth, the damage to Metropolis is being surveyed. Lex Luthor had arranged for a rally right in the middle of the destruction.
"This is exactly what I've been talking about. The alien being explicitly said he was here for Superman. Superman's mere presence seems to be a lightening rod for these aliens. Look around. Who's going to pay for the rebuilding of our city, again. We're still cleaning up after Doomsday." Lex says.
All Lois can do is watch on as the crowd begins rallying to Lex's side.
