Next Morning Anthony was woken by good morning kiss from his lovely Fiancé who reminds him about their appointment with Pastor before she left to get dressed.
He smiled dreamily as he rang for his butler and started getting ready for the day.
By the time he arrived at Breakfast table he saw his fiancé dressed in sea green dress. Her hair in elegant bun as few curls escape to frame her face.
She was seated with his mother and apparently discussing some details about the wedding.
He kissed both their cheeks as he took his seat and the staff served him his breakfast.
"I was thinking about adding some dishes from both Indian and French cuisine with English dishes to the menu." His mother says while Kate smiled as she replied. "I really appreciate the gesture but you don't have to trouble yourself hiring two more chef's for wedding festivities."
"It no trouble at all beside with so many guests and the Queen herself gracing us with her attendance I think three cooks will distribute the workload between them."
He watched as Kate smiled at his mother who then turned to stare at him as she asked him. "Anthony the cook was asking me what kind of cake you both would like for your wedding?"
Kate and he stared at each other as they replied. "Fruit and rum cake."
"Very well, I shall inform the cook about your choice. Now hurry up otherwise you will be late for your appointment."
Soon they finished with their breakfast and Violet saw them off as they both walked hand in hand towards their carriage.
Anthony was feeling anxious as he passed through familiar routes that lead towards church.
He couldn't remember this kind of joy he felt last time he had when he along with his family visited church for Hyacinth's christening and before that it was his father's funeral.
His love must have detected distress on his face as she gently cupped his face and asked. "Why do you look so sad?"
Kissing her head, he took a deep breath and inhaled her scent to calm him down as he replied. "Its nothing Priyaey. I was just remembering the last two times I visited the church. My father's funeral and Hyacinth's christening."
"Oh Anthony."
He could feel she was sorry for asking this question.
She quickly started giving him the option to cancel this visit. " We don't need to go. We can ask Simon, Benedict and Philip to have this meeting. I don't want you to be plagued by bad memories ."She insisted.
Kissing her lips he gave her an assuring smile. "That's why I need to go. I have to get through those bad memories in order to create the happiest day of my life when I marry you in that church."
She seemed to be unconvinced as she laid her head on his shoulder.
For a while they both sat quietly lost in their thoughts and Anthony was trying his heart to not remember those bad times but as they grew near the more vividly he could remember them.
He closed his eyes and tried to hold his Priyaey tightly to distract himself when her voice caught his attention. "Tell me about one of your happiest memories of that church?"
Anthony was taken aback as he watched his fiancé who was smiling at him.
"My happiest Memory?" He asked and she nodded her head enthusiastically.
He didn't have to think hard because it felt like yesterday as he began to share his happiest memory of church with her.
(Flashback
He was getting dressed in his best Sunday suite for Eloise and Dina christening as both girls were born days apart.
Once dressed he left his room only to be collided by his friend who was dressed in a pink dress with ribbons in her hand while her curly hair was looking wild probably due to her running so fast.
"Ouch!" They both rubbed their heads as Kathani complains angrily. "Can't you see where you are going?!"
Anthony stared at her outrageously as he yells. "It was you running in the hallways like havoc! Why were you running so fast?"
"I was hiding from Mary. She wants to braid my hair but you know how tightly she bind it, So now you have to do it before she finds me."
Anthony groans because ever since she found out he could braid Daphne hair she has taken liking to his hidden skill. "Kathani! I cannot braid your hair. What will you tell Auntie Mary once she finds you? Huh? Remember you promised to keep this secret."
"Do not worry Tony/ Moony I will tell her a maid did my hair." She replied with a cheeky smile.
Anthony couldn't help but sigh. "You think Auntie Mary or my mother wouldn't ask the maid's name?"
At that her eyes turned mischievous as she whispered. "I knew that's why I ran away at last moment and by the time Mary will find me we will be getting late for church and she won't have time to interrogate maids about my braid."
Anthony sighed because no one can win in wits with Kathani. He led her towards his room and started combing her hair while counting hundred strokes.
Kathani hummed as she leaned back. "You have such gentle hands." Anthony couldn't help but beamed as he picked her ribbons and start twisting her hair into stylish braid.
Once he was done Kathani smiled as she admired her reflection. "Great job." I swear you do the best braids in the entire world."
"Better then my mother?" He couldn't help but ask and Kathani seems to think before she replied. "I have to say you are tad bit better then Auntie Violet but we can't tell her otherwise the future Viscount's secret will be out."
Anthony couldn't help but rolled his eyes as she grabbed his hand and together they walked hand in hand to join rest of his family.
Daphne's eyes lit up when she saw Kathani and her braids styled matches today. She eagerly went towards her older brother and their friend while Mary and Violet stared at the girls as they inquired about who braided their hair.
"A maid did it Auntie Violet." She replied with smile as they walked towards the carriage.
"You must tell me her name so I can raise her wage for such a splendid job." She didn't noticed how three of them start giggling as they settled in the carriage.
The moment they reached church he could see Kathani was in awe.
The church was old but built beautifully surrounded by greenery and flowers.
They were told to wait a while because a wedding ceremony was happening at the moment.
While elders went to the sitting area, Kathani along with Benedict, Colin and Daphne stood up and started walking towards the sound of music. "Anthony, go look after Kathani and your siblings." His father orders while he tried to quite crying Eloise in his arms while little Dina slept peacefully in her father's arms.
"Wow, this place is so beautiful!" She says it out loud by the time Anthony reached there.
He tried to contain her excitement so she won't wander further away. "Kathani! We need to stay with family."
But no one was paying him mind as they saw a small family sitting in the front row as they watched a man and a lady dressed in white holding hands as Pastor was speaking words.
"What is happening here." Kathani asked as she stared at the bride and groom with fascination."
Realizing this is the first time Kathani is witnessing proper English wedding as Uncle Milan and Lady Mary got married in Scotland while Kathani was at Palace with her nanny.
"They are getting married." He quietly led his family towards the middle row so that they could sit and watch the ceremony without disturbing anyone.
As the ceremony continued Kathani was lost as she was leaning forward, her eyes fixated on the bride who was smiling at the groom.
He smiled and playfully nudged her to gain her attention as Pastor told everyone to pray for the happy couple.
She seemed to stare at everyone as a frown appeared on her face. "What are you all doing?" She asked in a low voice.
"Praying for couple." He replied in a low voice. She then stared at his and other hands as she told him. "In India we join our palm straight while we pray. If I do that in this country then will he hear my pray?"
Anthony couldn't help as he chuckled and then he told her. "Kathani it does not matter how you pray but what matters is if you pray from your heart." She smiled and joined her palm and together they prayed with others.
Once the ceremony was over they watched as the bride and groom walked down the aisle as their family followed.
Kathani and Daphne waved excitedly to the bride as she passed them.
"One day I will look as beautiful as this bride." Daphne announced and
Colin laughed. "First we need to find someone who agrees to marry you."
Daphne got angry and she began punching Colin while Benedict tried to contain her.
Anthony was laughing at them when Kathani said. "Do not listen to Colin, one day you will become the prettiest bride."
"And you Kathani? You will also be a bride like that?" His sister asked.
"I will be bride and I will wear my Amma's wedding dress but I will get married in this beautiful church for sure."
She then turned to face Anthony as she asked. "What about you? Where will you get married?"
"I will married here just like my parents did and my grandparents before them."
At that moment Benedict laughed as he asked. "Who will marry you Anthony? He always tells us what to do and you know how strict he is. He will bore the girl and she will run away."
Anthony scowled but then Kathani glared at Benedict. " Anthony is not bored and if no girl marries him then I will marry him and then together we will be double strict and tell you all what to do."
Anthony laughed as Benedict and Colin looked horrified and ran away screaming for their parents.
"Thank you." He told his friend, who then smiled cheekily. "Your Welcome but Anthony imagine if we got married then you will have to do everything I ordered you to do for your entire life."
Anthony looked horrified at that thought but Kathani and Daphne laughed and ran away before he could realize they were teasing him. "Kathani!"
He yelled annoyingly as he ran after them and throughout the christening he got mercilessly teased by his siblings and his friend.
End of Flashback)
"Even aside all the teasing I endured that day it was one of my happiest of memories of this church."
He turned to face his fiancé who seems lost in his thoughts.
Snapping his fingers he brought her mind back to him as he asked. "What are you thinking?"
She smiled and shook her head as she said. "Your childhood seems wonderful and I guess what you said became true and you are going to get married at the same church where your parents and your grandparents got married."
"Not to forget my future bride don't find me bore although Kathani would have approved of you as my bride the way you always ordered me around."
He laughed but then felt Kate had gone quite. Before he could ask her anything the carriage stopped and the footman opened the door.
He helped his fiancé out and walked inside the church. He noticed like Kathani his Kate's eyes were filled with awe as she stared at the church which is now even more beautiful with all the renovations done to its structure.
The Pastor greeted them. "Good morning Lord Bridgerton it is so good to see you again and on such a joyous occasion."
"Thank you, may I introduce you to my fiancé Countess Katherine Beaumont."
They both greeted each other and Pastor looked at her with kind eyes. "Congratulations to you both and I am happy that you are going to follow the Bridgerton tradition and get married here at this church. Countess if you excuse us Viscount and I can talk privately about a few details."
"Of course, I will pray for our future while you both are discussing matters."
With that he followed the Pastor who showed him the official marriage contract that the Archbishop had sent him. "Lord Bridgerton how many guests are going to attend the wedding ceremony?"
"From my side it will be my family, Hastings and Lady Danbury. From Countess side it will be her cousins Doctor and Captain Sterling, Featherington's, Ms. Sheffield and Dorset family. Also The Queen and her party will be present during the wedding ceremony while the rest of the guests attend wedding festivities at Aubrey Hall."
The Pastor wrote the names on paper. "Very well My Lord. Let's go outside and together we finalized dates for rehearsals, for wedding ceremony and other details with Countess."
They both began to walk outside but Pastor forgot his papers. "You go ahead and join your fiancé I will join you in few moments."
Making his way towards his fiancé he was halted in his steps when he saw his Priyaey sitting on front row. Her palms joined together as she prayed with closed eyes.
For a second a strange emotion passed through his body as in his mind eye he saw Kathani sitting instead of his Countess, Praying in the exact same way.
He blinked and Kathani was turned into Countess and before he could even say or react a hand tapped his shoulder and startled he turned around and saw Pastor watching him strangely. "My Lord? Is everything alright?"
Anthony couldn't replied as he turned to stare at his fiancé who was walking towards them. "Are you done with your conversation? Can we proceed with this meeting."
"Yes my lady, if you and Lord Bridgerton follow me towards the record room so we can enlist your wedding date."
She began to follow the Pastor when she turned around and stared at him. "Come Anthony Pastor is waiting for us."
He blinked and grabbed her hand and throughout the meeting his mind was trying to understand why he was seeing his long-lost friend's face in his future bride?
Kathani, Anthony and Benedict were staring with great concentration as Edmund showed them brand new set of pall mall.
He had just finished explaining the rules when suddenly he stood straight and then told his children. "So as head of this household I have chosen this blue mallet and Milan has chosen orange.
Now we will let ladies choose and then you kids can choose your Mallets. While Mary and Auntie Violet were choosing purple and green Mallet, Kathani was eyeing at the same Mallet Anthony was looking at.
As soon as Edmund announced its kids turned they both leapt and grabbed black Mallet together.
"Oh God!" Both fathers groaned while Benedict happily picked a brown Mallet.
Anthony was tugging the Mallet towards him as he yelled. "Leave it Kathani! This is my Mallet and I am going to name it Mallet of death!"
"You can name it Mallet of Alexander for all I care but this Mallet is mine!"
"No its mine!" He yells.
"No its mine!" She yells back.
"Children please stop fighting." Violet begs and then she stared at her husband who seems to be enjoying this tug of war. "Edmund do something."
"What?" He looked extremely invested as he said. "I want to see who will win."
"Edmund! Milan you make them stop."
Milan Sharma would never admit but he too was interested to see who will win the Mallet. Finally under Violet and Mary's stern gazes he decided to break them up. "Kathani leave the Mallet right now."
Kathani didn't let it go as she whines. "Appa it's not fair! Ladies get first pick! Tell Anthony to leave the Mallet."
"She is right son." Edmund told his son, who glared as he replied. "I would but she is a menace not a lady!"
Kathani gasped and then stomped her feet hard on his feet as Anthony let go of the Mallet and howl in pain. "Ah!"
"Kathani Sharma! You apologize right now." Mary told her but instead Kathani flicked her hair as she replied. "I would apologize but he is no gentleman."
Edmund burst into laughter but quickly turned into cough as his wife and his friends glared at him. "Come now Kathani won the Mallet fair and square. Now let's start this game."
"Yes and I can't wait to win this game with My Mallet of death, Ahhha!" She yells and starts running away as Anthony begins to chase her.
"Give back my Mallet of Death!"
"Kate? Kate?"
Kathani blinked and shook her head to clear her past memories. "Is everything alright?" Daphne asked worriedly "I hope I haven't overwhelmed you while explaining about this game."
"Oh no." Kathani quickly assured her as she explains her state of aloofness. "Its not like I am overwhelmed but on the contrary I was scheming to best your brother."
"Oh please do that! because Anthony became absolutely intolerable and ruthless and if God forbid he wins then you have to tolerate his victory smirk."
Kathani knew all about that victory smirk and she is not in the mood to see it again today. "Do not worry for if I cannot win, then I will make sure he won't either."
Daphne clapped her hand and excitedly embraced her sister-in-law. "I am so happy he is going to marry you." "Me too." She whispered back while embracing this girl who was like a sister to her.
Half an hour later the players huddled together.
Since only seven players can play the game, it was decided at breakfast who will play.
After many shouting matches and a few happy withdrawals it was decided that Anthony, Kate, Benedict, Daphne, Colin, Eloise and Edwina will play this game.
Edwina despite her genteel upbringing couldn't help but glare at Duke of Hastings who happily withdraw from the game so she could play even when she insist she will happily sit with Francesca and others. "You are so kind your Grace."
"Please, it's no problem. I will happily look after my son and support my wife as she wins this game for us." Simon replied gleefully as he picked his son in case someone changed their mind.
As others watched the players gathered around the Mallets as Anthony announced. "Alright everyone! As Countess and Ms Sheffield are first time to play with us, we will let them pick the Mallet first."
"You first Edwina." Kathani told her sister, who nervously stepped forward and chose the blue Mallet.
"Excellent choice Ms. Sheffield!" Anthony told her encouragingly as he handed her the blue Mallet and then waited for his Priyaey to pick her Mallet.
Kathani didn't hesitate as she reached out and picked their old lucky Mallet and everyone gasped.
"Mallet of death!" Eloise gasped while other Bridgerton's stared at Anthony who suddenly looked not pleased by this outcome.
"Is that Mallet is yours?" Anthony heard his fiancé voice asking this question.
"Yes its mine." He replied with tightness in his voice.
"Aw, do you want it back?" She asked and Anthony could detect his fiancé is teasing him.
"No, you can have it." He tried to sound indifferent until his idiot brother Colin gasped in an accusing tone. "You threatened to beat me last time I touched it."
"You exaggerate." He snapped and his Kate laughed as she turned the Mallet in her hand. "Well darling if you insist I will play with this Mallet and win the game unless you cannot perform without it."
He gave her a look and Kathani shivered as he proclaimed. "Trust me, my performance is not dependable and I will win this game with any other Mallet."
"We will see my love."
The other players were now getting uncomfortable as the future bride and groom gave each other heated looks.
"Anyway." Daphne says while clearing her throat as she tells others. "Come Bridgerton lets choose our Mallet."
Anthony was so distracted by his Kate that he was the last one to pick the Mallet and groaned when the Pink Mallet came in his hand.
The game began and Violet couldn't help but notice how much Countess perfectly fits with their family.
Kathani could see Anthony has mastered the game over the years and while her skills are bit rustic she could use other tactics to distract him.
Anthony was going to take a shot and she walked by and just when he was about to aim she discreetly pulls her dress to reveal her stocking clad thigh.
Daphne and others were too focused and they knew their brother would make this shot when suddenly he flattered and hit his ball in the opposite direction.
Anthony was stunned as his fiancé skipped passed him. "Bad luck darling." She hit her ball and then whoop in joy.
Daphne and Eloise couldn't contain their laughter as Kate threw smirk at Anthony direction.
"You told her about the smirk?" Eloise inquires as they watched their brother's scowl.
"Yes. She is his perfect match." Daphne says as they watched them bickering from far.
"Stop distracting me!" Anthony hissed as they watched Edwina take her shot.
"What me?" She asked innocently. "Are you going to accuse me when you yourself are hopelessly attracted to me?"
"Do not be coy darling? We both know what you are doing?"
As answer she quickly kissed him and then left him to join others.
While everyone else were distracted with game.
One by one Philip, Michael, Penelope, and Sophie slipped inside and made there way towards study.
"Thank God you people came." Jacopo said as he sighed in relief. "Now go inside and I will stay here and watch in case someone came here."
As they stepped inside they saw Genevieve was already there searching through old ledgers. "Good, you guys came. Now hurry up."
"But what are we searching for?" Michel asks as he and Penelope start searching shelves.
"I don't know some old correspondents or documents." Sophie suggests."
"Or maybe the formula about how those concoction are made." Philip wonders while thinking about his father's mad experiments.
"Or it be some kind of book left by Doctor Sharma?" Penelope says while she hurriedly surveys the books.
"Well whatever it is it's not here." Gen scream in frustration when they thoroughly search every corner of the study.
Feeling disappointed they all catch their breath as Sophie leans on the table.
Suddenly her fingers felt something.
Bending down she saw a hidden small compartment. "I think I found something." They all gathered around the table and it took some force to open the compartment, probably because it had been years since it was opened last time.
When it was finally opened the drawer was empty except...
The Queen along with Brimsily and her Maids were busy with the preparation for their departure as they will be leaving for Aubrey Hall tomorrow after breakfast.
"Brimsily is everything set for our departure?" She inquires while selecting her jewellery to match with her dresses.
"Yes your Majesty our fastest horses and best drivers are prepared and most comfortable royal carriages has been polished for you and your party."
"Very well. Now..."
But before she could finish her instructions a footman arrived as he announced. "Your Majesty the Prince has arrived."
The Queen stood up and Brimsily looked surprised as a tall man dressed in finest clothes stepped inside and the queen beamed at him.
"Oh how great it is to see you again."
Brimsily watched as Queen and Prince embrace each other for few seconds.
The prince moves away and gives her the most charming smile as he tells her. "Its good to be back Auntie."
