Two Blue Lines Change Everything-Ch 13
The next morning Derek woke up to an empty bed, he threw the covers back, slid on his shoes and made his way downstairs in search of his baby girl, when he got halfway down the stairs he heard her talking to Henry and Jack in the kitchen, he grinned as he made his way closer to see what they were doing up so early.
He stopped when he saw them sitting at the table snacking on a chocolate muffin, she looked so beautiful sitting between the two little boys, they were looking up at her with so much love in their eyes and the way she lovingly rubbed the top of their heads and told them that she loved them just made him happier than he'd been in a long time.
Watching her sit there made him realize that in a few short months she would give birth to a child, a child that he very much hoped was his but regardless if he's the father or not he vowed to love, cherish and protect the child for as long as he lived, he leaned against the door and said, "is this a private party or can anybody join?", Penelope said, "everybody is welcome, right boys?", the two little boys said, "righttttttt" in unison as Derek made his way over to join them at the table.
They were laughing and talking a few minutes later when Fran walked into the kitchen and said, "what are the four of you doing up so early?", Penelope said, "sorry Fran but I woke up hungry this morning and when I walked past the boys room I guess I woke them up and they decided to keep me company", Fran said, "not a problem honey, you are more than welcome to do anything you want in this house at any time".
Penelope sighed and said, "thank you", Fran said, "you're very welcome", she then said, "okayyyyyy, so how about i get some breakfast started?", Penelope said, "sounds good, do you need any help?", she shook her head and said, "no thank you, why don't the four of you head into the living room and I'll get started on breakfast", they all nodded their heads as they walked out of the kitchen and headed through to the living room.
When they sat down on the couch Clooney and Mudgie jumped up and one sat on each side of Penelope, Derek said, "heyyyyy, she's my girl", Penelope laughed and said, "it's okay angelfish, they love me too", Derek said, "of course they do, what's not to love?", she leaned in and gently brushed her lips against his in a gentle kiss.
As they pulled apart Henry and Jack laughed and Henry said, :"I hope dat dey don't get stuck wike that", Derek looked at Penelope and whispered, "I kinda hope that we do", Penelope playfully slapped him on the arm and said, "what am I gonna do with you?", he said, "I do have a few ideas on that too", she laid her head down on his shoulder and said, "I bet you do sugar, I bet you do".
It wasn't long before the rest of the team started making their way downstairs to join Derek and the others in the living room, JJ looked at Penelope and said, "how are you feeling this morning?", she said, "so far so good", Emily said, "are the boys being mean?", she shook her head and said, "not at all, they have been keeping me company this morning, right boys?", they grinned up at her and said, "yepppppp" in unison as she rubbed the top of their heads again.
Hotch looked over at Penelope and said, "how are you feeling about the meeting we had yesterday with kevin?", she looked at him and said, "I don't know what came over Kevin, he's usually not like that but then again I never dreamed that he'd cheat on me either sooooo I guess I'm not a good judge of character bossman".
Dave said, "that's not true kitten, you are one of the best judges I've ever seen, it's just that sometimes people can fool us, that happens to everybody", Reid nodded his head and said, "right now our focus is to keep you and the little one safe and happy", Penelope said, "so I guess I need to stay away from Kevin to make that happen, right?", Reid said, "exactly".
Derek said, "and when we go away on a case we will get Anderson to keep an eye on you to make sure that you're safe", Dave said, "and Fran and the girls will be paying you visits when we're out of town too", Penelope smiled and said, "thank you but you don't have to go to so much trouble for me", Derek brought her hand up to hsi lips and kissed it and said, "ohhh but we do, we all love you and want to keep you and the little one here safe".
She smiled and said, "thank you all so much for loving me, for loving us" as her hand slid down protectively over her stomach, their attention then turned to the door as Desi said, "breakfast is ready", Derek smiled at Penelope and said, "let's get you fed", Penelope said, "sounds good my love, sounds good", the family then got up and headed toward the dining room so that they could enjoy a delicious breakfast together before continuing on with the rest of their days.
