The huge area with the waterfall was the same as when they ran from it. Flareon Light walked at the back of the line with only Sky Shaymin Ariel behind him. With the most viable plan around him, Luke put him in the most defended position.
The others didn't complain. They probably guessed Luke had something in mind.
Cinccino Hannah sat at the end of the path on the floor of the cave. She faced the water with her legs crossed. Ripples in the water from the base of the waterfall. Her body stayed still as a statue, and the Keldeo's horn stood up on the cave floor.
As they got to the bottom, Lopunny Luke walked up to her first as planned. Ariel went past Light's side as they moved forward. She turned and whispered in his ear.
"We'll be okay," she said.
Light nodded to her.
When Luke stopped walking up ahead, Hannah stood up and turned around. Just as planned, he started to flex the extra muscle in his head while staring at her eyes through the sharp, deep blue mask on her face.
Confusion and heartache were the only things there. Frustrated, Light walked up closer. He got glances from the others, but they didn't stop him.
"Hannah!" Light called over the roar of the waterfall. "Why are you doing this?"
"What do you mean why?" Hannah asked.
"Uhm, like… Trying to kill us and stuff?"
"The royal families should've been finished a long time ago. Imperfect leaders make imperfect countries."
"There hasn't been a perfect country," Light said. "I mean, life isn't perfect. Why do you feel the need to do this?"
"I want to do what should have happened and unite the Trio Continent," Hannah said.
"But… uh… What does killing us have to do with uniting the Trio Continent?"
Hannah picked up Keldeo's horn, but she kept it pointing down. Light and the others walked back while she walked forward a few paces to keep the same distance they had before she started walking.
After they were further from the waterfall, Hannah stuck the tip of the indigo horn back into the ground.
"Remember that old story in Acuity? Robin Hood?"
Light froze.
"He chose to kill the entire royal family except for the egg, and he saved the whole country," Hannah said. "I'm guessing Luke told you that I have the Valorian and Veritan blessings."
"What are you getting at?" Light asked.
"It's an opportunity to unite this whole continent once and for all. An opportunity between us."
Light realized what she meant. Everyone else just stared at her the same way, but not him. He took a step back, but couldn't think hard enough to take another.
"Angelo Acuity," Hannah said, smiling, "it would be an honor to unite our homelands."
Everyone's focus broke. Everyone turned to read his all got confirmation from his trembling eyes. Quilava Gawain's eyes sharpened.
"Oh," Luke blurted. "Oh. Wait a minute. Are you trying to… with all three… Shit."
A split second came where Light had seriously started to run away, but two small weights went over his shoulder as he turned. Ariel wrapped her arms around him from behind and rested her head on top of his.
"Actually," Ariel said, "he's already got the hots for me. Sorry."
"Yah, no kidding..."Zorua Aaron groaned. "I don't even know how you two are alive, like, honestly..."
"I'm not worried," Hannah said.
Hannah winked. Pink hearts appeared circling her body and then rocketed towards him. Ariel's ears flapped and created a gust of wind that pushed them all away over the water. They vanished into falling pink sparkles.
"Only I get to use that move on him," Ariel said.
"Don't pretend," Hannah huffed. "I can already tell what you feel about him."
Ariel moved in front of Light. Luke stood just a bit off to the side for them to face each other.
"Like what?" Ariel asked.
"Having him as a trophy husband that you rescued is just a cute idea to you, but you don't actually have any respect for him," Hannah said.
"Even if that was true, you aren't even thinking about him at all yourself."
"You're just trying not to be sad and hopeless for the rest of your life. At least I'm going to use him for something more."
"Take Gawain," Light blurted. "Please, please, please take Gawain!" he begged.
Quilava Gawain stared at him wide-eyed. He shook his head.
Ariel charged an Energy Ball in front of her face and shot it towards Hannah. Hannah controlled wind in front of her paws and caught it. She spunt it away. In the same motion, she kicked and sent a curved blade of wind at Ariel.
It all happened too fast. Ariel got hit in the chest and fell to the floor. She managed to stay on her feet, but was clutching at her chest. The remains of the gust slid Light back just an inch or two and blew his fur back.
Light ran up to Ariel and slunk close to the ground. She gasped for air, but looked back down at him.
"Valor's people are judgmental and stupid," Hannah said. "And the Veritans like to pretend that there aren't any problems. And worst of all, Acuitans are suffering and dirt poor. And they're desperate for any leader to do anything to get out of it."
Light stared at Hannah while Ariel recollected herself. She got back to standing up straight, but Light knew he had to get her a bit more time.
"Our people need us, Angelo," Hannah said.
"Take Gawain!"
Hannah pointed the horn towards them.
Audino Agatha decided to give this her all. She bent down and folded the rubber of her prosthetic feet back, snapping them off and tossing them aside.
Cinccino Hannah glanced around at all of them, but her eyes got stuck on Agatha. She tensed up seeing her metal feet.
Agatha used the surprise. She triggered her feet's boosters and flung her whole body forward with her arm out. Hannah pushed air from her arm to move to the side. Agatha soared past She slammed her feet on the rock floor.
Her feet screeched. Hannah's smile faded into concern.
The rest of the pokemon stood and watched with dumb, useless stares. Agatha glared at them.
"Do something," she said dryly.
Luke and Ariel both jumped in on either side. Hannah blasted them back with wind from her arms. She flung air around herself to hop back to the center of the cave floor away from the water.
Each of Agatha's footsteps made a metallic clang. When Hannah swung the horn at her, Agatha kicked it with her boosters. Hannah backed away from the streak of hot pink smoke left in the air. She would never have fought against anything like this before.
Hannah backed up, now only a few paces in front of the waterfall. She took in a few deep breaths and recomposed herself.
"Hannah!"
Furret Abigail didn't take her eyes off Hannah, but heard Zen's call clearly over the waterfall.
"You don't really believe that we're bad, right?" Zen asked. "You know we're your family, right?"
"I don't have a family anymore."
"Sometimes you just have to look for one."
Hannah paused and stared at Abigail. She gave a look that felt like a sign to continue.
"Even if you don't have a family, there's always someone out there who's willing to care. Maybe more people than you realize."
"Someone out there?" Aaron yelled. "For the- we're five feet in front you! Just be deadass already! You're our sister! Or close enough, whatever! So if you would kindly stop tryna kill us!"
Hannah started to run forward. Luke and Abigail ran forward together, but Luke reached her first.
Hannah rotated her wrist for a side swipe with Keldeo's horn, but stopped. Luke rotated and slugged her in the side. Abigail coiled her tail around Cinccino Hannah's arm and punched at her face.
The deep blue mask was too tough. Abigail hit as hard as she could three times, but Hannah didn't flinch, and after the third strike, she struck back.
Audino Agatha watched Furret Abigail collapse to the floor after being hit in the head. Everyone stopped where they were.
Luke was getting off of the floor, but stopped with a shocked look. Her pained, crying yell sent Agatha's blood into a frenzy. Hannah backed away a bit, giving them all an unsettled glance while Abigail curled her body and held her head.
"What a peacemaker," she sassed.
Agatha was ready when Hannah looked and burst forward with a gale behind her. She tensed and avoided the outstretched horn by ducking.
She engaged the boosters with as much force as possible. Her foot clanged against Hannah's mask, but she lost her balance and flipped in the air.
She landed with a thud on her back. A sear of pain erupted on her back. She tightened her lips to suppress a short scream and groaned.
Light stayed close to the water with Ariel on the sidelines of the action. He helped support her weight while she caught her breath. Past her white ears, he could see that Hannah's mask had cracks running through the length of it along her face, but Audino couldn't get back up. Light didn't see her get hit, but she was on the ground, dragging herself away. With vicious scars that looked new and prosthetic feet, she might've overdone something.
"Screwed up," Ariel huffed. "Sorry about that."
"It's okay."
Light looked over to the battle. Lopunny Luke was on the ground, and the other princes were all looking between each other for an answer.
"Let's take her," Light whispered.
Ariel stood up with a silent agreement on her face. Hannah's attention split between the four princes, ready to strike. She didn't notice them glaring.
"It's too dangerous for you," Ariel said.
"I know," he huffed.
Light's body glowed with a crystalline white aura. He hadn't used Helping Hand with all of his strength at once for a while, but the draining feeling felt right. He nuzzled against Sky Shaymin Ariel's side as her body took in the energy. The light reflected off the rocks and water.
Ariel hugged Light and set him on the ground near the water. He gave her a nod before she turned and started a slow advance.
"Screw it."
Light noticed Audino's graveled voice from the ground. She pushed herself up with an outstretched arm pointing towards them. A blue light flew close to the floor towards Furret Abigail as she writhed in pain on the ground.
After the light enveloped Abigail, Audino collapsed on the floor, no doubt from the aftermath of Healing Wish.
Furret Abigail stood up and shook her muscles. A strange tingle stole all the pain away. As she stood up, she saw Lopunny Luke pointing towards her.
"Screw it," Luke echoed.
A gold bolt of energy fired out of his fingertips. He sighed and trudged along with Agatha with help from the princes towards the back of the cave.
After the Helping Hand hit her, Abigail's gold fur started to glow, and it filled her with the strength of a triple sugar rush. She bounced up and down on her toes and stretched out her arms with a few practice jabs to get a feel for it.
Hannah's eyes darted between each of them. She sensed primal rage and instinct from Sky Shaymin Ariel and Furret Abigail. They glared into her eyes through her cracked mask.
"We've got hot boys counting on us," Ariel said.
Abigail smiled and rolled her eyes. "Alright then…"
Hannah tried to repair the mask on her face, but lacked the time. Even though Angelo couldn't control his new energy very well yet, Sky Shaymin's body steamed with it. She didn't really understand the strange energy in Luke's body, but Abigail had to be at least twice as strong as before. Her eyes were soul-piercing.
"I call left," Ariel said.
"Kay."
Hannah threw a strong gust of wind when they darted forward. It didn't land. Abigail and Ariel split apart on either side and rushed.
Unable to keep track of both of them at their speeds, Hannah was reduced to shooting useless blasts of wind at them. Abigail weaved forward under her arm and jabbed her in the gut. While reeling in from it, Ariel uppercut her in the jaw. Keldeo's horn flew from her hand and splashed into the water.
Hannah staggered back to the front of the waterfall. With nowhere to move, she had to stand her ground.
Abigail and Ariel sprinted straight for her. Ariel shrugged off the wind blasts while Abigail avoided them in zigzags close to the floor. As they both closed in from different sides, Hannah brought her arms up to try and defend herself again.
They both jumped at the last second.
Hannah gave a silent scream when they both punched her in the face. The impact sent random colors in her vision and nauseated her stomach. Her mask shattered and flew off with her body to the water.
It was cold. Her hearing became a mess of flowing water. When she opened her eyes, dark shards floated on a surface against a wall of blue light. She held her breath and kept herself steady.
"Everything will stay the same if you do nothing."
Hannah's limbs weakened. She couldn't do anything about it.
"Don't disappoint her. Use your voice and join the cry for justice. Take what you deserve. If the world won't fight you fairly, why should you hold yourself back?"
Light noticed that Cinccino Hannah didn't come back up yet. He started to rise on the tips of his paws trying to look over to where they were.
Light's ears twitched from a splash. Wet fur covered his mouth before he could shout. He saw Keldeo's horn put near his head. He didn't have any energy left for moves, or to struggle.
"This fight is over!" Hannah screamed behind him.
Light couldn't see her face, but he could use Candor from the contact. She focused on him.
Ariel and Abigail stared. They took steps back.
"What do you want?" Ariel called out. Her voice shook.
"We're going to walk out of here," Hannah said, "and you'll let it happen or I take off a limb." Hannah pointed them towards Buizel Zen, shiny Zorua Aaron, Quilava Gawain, and Meowstic Markus as they watched from the sidelines. "And no funny business, Aaron. I'll be able to tell."
Furret Abigail backed up towards tall, pillar rocks away from Cinccino Hannah. The glow around her and Ariel's bodies started to disappear as she strangled Light by his mane with one arm and held Keldeo's horn with the other.
Hannah somehow walked out onto the water. Gentle ripples went out from her feet with each step back as they went closer into the mist at the waterfall's base. Though tricky to her eye, Abigail saw her walk through the waterfall and disappear.
After she vanished under the veil of mist, Sky Shaymin Ariel ran to the edge of the water.
"How do we follow him?" Ariel asked.
After she didn't get an answer, Ariel turned around and glanced at all of the pairs of eyes. Abigail didn't know how to react to her teary panic when she turned to her.
"We can't," Luke called from the ground, laying on his back. "The mystery dungeon bends to her powers. We can't."
Ariel paced around. Abigail followed the others and turned away to give her some space. She heaved and sat on the edge of the water with misty eyes.
