Two Blue Lines Change Everything-Ch 16
For the next few days everything went amazingly well with no signs of Kevin anywhere, a fact that thrilled not only the BAU team but their heart and soul Penelope too, the team hadn't been called away on a case so they were always close to her, she was never alone at the office, she was either with JJ, Emily, Reid or Derek and if she was honest about everything that made her feel extremely safe.
Penelope was currently in her lair woking on searches for B team, she loved staying busy because it made the day pass by faster and the sooner the day went by the sooner she could be alone with Derek at either her apartment or at his place, she loved spending alone time with her man, this way they could make up for the time they missed in not being together.
At the end of the day Penelope was tired so since she rode to work with Derek that morning he drove her home and on the way he told her that he would rub her feet when they got back to her place, she smiled at him and said, "you keep that up and I might have to make you my love slave forever", he grinned and said, "I accept that, ohhhh sweetness, I will happily accept that".
When they pulled into the parking lot of her apartment building she yawned and said, "why am I so tired now, I was so full of energy earlier?", Derek leaned in and gently brushed his lips against hers and said, "you're pregnant baby girl so of course you're going to be getting tired easier, sooooo right now what you need to do is rest when you can okay?", she sighed and nodded he head yes in agreement.
Derek got out of his truck and walked around to the passengers side and opened her door, he then held his hand out and she slid her smaller hand into his as she climbed out of the truck, they then made their way toward the side door hand-in-hand, she glanced over at him and couldn't help but grin, she still couldn't believe that they were now together and that the baby she was carrying could be his.
She had always dreamed of being with Derek, she often imagined being his girlfriend then his wife followed shortly with being the mother of his children, her free hand slid down protectively over her stomach, Derek saw her hand and said, "you okay?", she said, "huh, what?", they stopped walking and turned to face each other.
Derek put his hand on hers and siad, "are you alright, is something wrong?", she smiled at him and said, "nothing's wrong, I was just thinking about how long I've dreamed of being with you and now, now you're mine", he pulled her into his arms and leaned down and kissed her lips gently and when they pulled apart he said, "I love you baby girl and nothing or nobody is gonna change that".
Penelope said, "well, I just happen to love you too so there", he rested his forehead against hers and said, "so there", they then both laughed and continued walking toward the elevator at the end of the hall, once the button was pushed the double doors opened, they stepped back inside and Derek pushed the button for the 3rd floor.
While they rode up on the elevator they stood silently with their hands intertwined, being together like this felt amazing, it didn't matter if they talked or not, the only thing that mattered was that they were together, when the elevator stopped the elevator dinged and seconds later the doors opened and the lovers stepped off and started making their way down the hall.
When they got to her door, she pulled her key out and started to put it into the lock, that is when she saw the door was unlocked, she looked up at Derek and said, "I locked this door this morning", Derek said, "I remember sweetness" as he pulled his gun from his holster and pulled his baby girl behind him as he pushed the door open.
As they stepped into the room he reached and turned the lights on, Penelope gasped and said, "oh my God, what happened?' Derek pulled his cell from his belt and dialed a number and after a few rings he heard Hotch's voice say, "didn't I just see you?", Derek said, "Hotch, I need you and the rest of the team at baby girls now".
Hotch could tell by his voice that something was wrong and he said, "is she okay?", Derek said, "physically yes but emotionally not so much", Hotch said, "what happened?", Derek said, "somebody has broken in to her apartment, everything has been destroyed", he then wrapped an arm around Penelope and kissed the top of her head as Hotch said, "we're on our way".
As Derek stood there waiting on Hotch and the others to arrive all he could do was hold a crying Penelope, he had to keep her and the baby safe and right now holding her was the only thing keeping them both sane, as he stood rocking her back and forth he kept saying over and over, "it's okay, I've got you, I've got you" as tears streamed down her cheeks
