Two Blue Lines Change Everything-Ch 17
Hotch and the team arrived a couple of minutes before the police and forensic team did and they were comforting Penelope when help arrived, Hotch and Dave walked over to talk to the forensic team while the others were trying to calm a very distraught Penelope who was completely devastated that almost all of her things had been destroyed.
Derek held her close and said, "we will find out who did this and I promise you baby, we will make them pay", she wiped away tears that were sliding down her cheeks and said, "they destroyed almost everything Derek and most of this stuff belonged to my mom and dad, some of it was all I had left of them, now, now everything is gone".
JJ said, "when the forensic team gets finished, we'll help you look through everything, maybe not everything is destroyed", Emily nodded her head and said, "Jayje's right, maybe we can find some stuff that wasn't destroyed", Penelope weakly smiled and said, "thanks girls, I hope you're right" as she snuggled closer into Derek's side.
Reid was looking around the apartment for any signs on who might have done this, he was able to find a pin on the floor, he motioned for Penelope to come over to see if it belonged to her, when she got over there she gasped and Reid said, "are you alright?", Penelope paled and said, "t t that pin", Emily said, "what about it, do you recognize it?", she nodded her head yes.
Derek said, "how do you recognize it baby girl?", she said, "I I I gave it to somebody as a gift", JJ said, "who Garcie, who did you give it too?", she looked up at them heartbrokenly and said, "Kevin, I gave it to Kevin", Derek looked at Reid and siad, "I'll kill him" and started toward the door but Peneope quickly grabbed his arm and stopped him.
Derek said, "baby I", she said, "pl please don't go, please don't leave me, I need you", he pulled her gently into his arms and kissed the top of her head and said, "I won't go anywhere, I'll stay here, I'll stay right here", Reid got Hotch and Dave's attention and pointed out the pin, Hotch quickly pointed out the pin to the forensic team and they tagged it for evidence.
A little while later when the team was all that was left they walked through the apartment with Penelope to see what if anything had been spared, to Penelopes' delight several items that belonged to her parents had been saved, she clung to several pieces of her mother's jewelry and said, "thank God this is safe, I thought I had lost everything".
Reid said, "Garcia i found this" as he handed her a picture, she said, "this is my mom and dad on the day they got married", Derek said, "you look like your mother", Penelope grinned and said, "thank you, I take that as the highest compliment", Derek sighed and said, "I'm so sorry that this happened to you sweetness".
She said, "me too, so what happens now?", Dave said, "now, now we do something that we have wanted to do for a while, we pick up Kevin and interrogate him", Penelope said, "do you think that he'll tell you the truth?", Hotch said, "don't worry Garcia, one way or another we'll make him pay for what he's done".
Penelope blew out a deep breath and said, "what am I gonna do now, I have no place to stay?", Derek said, "well you are more than welcome to stay with me or with ma and Dave", Emily said, "or us", JJ said, "you can stay with us", Penelope smiled and said, "thank you all so much", she then thought for a few seconds before saying, "if it's okay with you hotstuff, I think I'd like to stay with you for a little while?", he said, "you are more than welcome to stay with me goddess" as he pulled her into his arms and kissed the top of her head.
JJ smiled and said, "why don't we try to find some clothes for you to take?", Penelope nodded her head yes as she walked into the bedroom with JJ and Emily, when Derek was sure that she was out of earshot he looked at the others and said, "Kevin's a dead man when I get my hands on him", the others nodded their heads yes in agreement and Hotch said, "so this is what we're gonna do" as he told the team what the next step in the plan was gonna be.
