Two Blue Lines Change Everything-Ch 22
As the ceremony continued the judge said, "who gives this bride away today"?, Dave stepped forward and said, "her family and I do", he then stepped back beside Fran who was videoing the wedding, she didn't want to miss a second of the ceremony, she had waited his entire life to see this day and she wasn't gonna miss a second of it.
The judge said, "Derek, take this ring and put it on Penelope's finger and repeat after me", Derek took the ring and put it on her finger and repeated as the judge said, "I Derek take you Penelope to be my lawfully wedded wife, I promise to love, honor and cherish you for as long as we both shall live" as he looked lovingly into her eyes.
Next the judge said, "Penelope, take this ring and put it on Derek's finger and repeat after me", she took the ring and slid it on his finger and then repeated as the judge said, "I Penelope, take you Derek to be my lawfully wedded husband, I promise to love, honor and cherish you for as long as we both shall live".
The minister looked around the room and said, "if there is anyone that can show just cause as to why these two can't be lawfully joined, let them speak now or forever hold their peace", af a few seconds of silence he smiled and said, "well then, by the powers vested in me by this state I now pronounce you husband and wife", he looked at Derek and said, "Derek, you may kiss your bride".
Derek cupped her face in his hands and leaned in and pressed his lips gently against hers and when they pulled apart the minister smiled and said, "ladies and gentlemen it gives me great pleasure to introduce to you for the first time ever, Mr. and Mrs. Derek Michael Morgan", the chamber was then full of the sound of hands clapping and people shouting their congratulations.
Derek and Penelope smiled and shook hands with the judge and thanked him for marrying them, he said, "it's always a pleasure to marry a couple that is meant to be together and the two of you are meant to be together", Derek looked at Penelope and then at the judge and said, "wait, you know us sir?", he said, "only from what Dave has told me, he talks about the two of you often and when he called and asked me if I could perform the ceremony I happily agreed".
Derek said, "thank you so much", the judge said, "you're very welcome and congratulations, the two of you make an amazing couple and I wish you a life filled with nothing but love, joy and happiness", he looked at Fran and said, "and lots of grand babies for Dave and Fran to spoil rotten", Derek said, "we're working on that part sir", causing everybody to laugh as the judge laughed and said, "good, good".
After signing the marriage license they took a few pictures with the judge and thanked him again before turning around and walking out of the office, once they were all out into the hall everybody starting with Fran hugged and congratulated the newlyweds and told them how happy they were to have been a part of it.
Penelope wiped away the tears that were streaming down her face and said, "thank you all so much, you are all amazing people and Derek and I love you soooooooo much", Henry and Jack giggled and said, "congratulations" in unison, Derek and Penelope leaned down and hugged them and said, "thank you" causing the two little boys to smile and then turn around and run to their mothers.
Fran said,"alright, who's ready to celevrateeeee?", everybody said, "meeeeeeee" as they turned around and headed up the corridor and out the front door of the courthouse, as they headed toward their cars Derek and Penelope walked hand-in-hand, as they climbed into the cars a few minutes later Derek looked over at penelope and said, "I love you wife".
She smiled at him and said, "and I love you husband", as they leaned in and shared a kiss, the family all said, "awwwwwwww", Derek laughed and said, "eat your hearts outttttt" as he leaned in for another kiss
