Two Blue Lines Change Everything=Ch 40
Over the next couple of months everything went pretty good for Penelope and her pregnancy, their were no more problems so she was released to go back to work but was told to take it as easy as possible as to not put stress on the baby.
The problem with Kevin was going good, too good, he was currently serving time in jail, he would be there until his trial but he would ask at least three times a week how Penelope and the baby was doing and since things were normal the information was told to him through either Reid or JJ, to Kevin it didn't matter who told him as long as somebody did.
Even though Kevin's father carried a lot of influence so did Dave, he pulled so many strings that the only choice was for them to put Kevin in jail because as long as he was out Penelope didn't feel safe and the primary goal was to keep her happy and as stress free as possible until time for the baby to be delivered.
Penelope was now almost 7 1/2 months pregnant, she was practically glowing with happiness, not only was everything finally falling into place for her and Derek but things with Kevin were still calm and for that she was oh so thankful.
Kevin's trial was only a day away and Penelope was one of the witnesses against him, he knew that her testimony was going to be damning but he had brought everything upon himself and had nobody to blame but himself, Kevin Archibald Lybcg.
Kevin had gotten word from Marvin that his father would be one of the few allowed in the courtroom on the day of his trial, among the others were of course Derek and the rest of the BAU team/family, with time quickly passing by he knew that tomorrow was do or die day, tomorrow he would find out what his punishment would be.
The family had all decided to spend the night before the trial at Dave and Frans, since the number of people in the courtroom was limited Penelope felt a little better, especially knowing that her team of crime fighters would be there with her, would be by her side like they always were.
The next morning everybody got up and got ready to head to the courthouse, everybody but of course Henry and Jack who stayed at Casa Rossi with their nannies. Sarah and Desiree had volunteered to stay with the boys but realized that with what was going on with Kevin the more support Penelope had in the courtroom the better.
Derek and Penelope walked through the double doors of the courtroom hand-in-hand, on one side was Kevin's father Archibald Lynch and when he saw them walk into the room he smirked, he smirked thinking that things were going to go his way, that his son that had kidnapped, tormented and attempted to rape Penelope would be free to leave after today.
Penelope felt her heart racing under his stares, he was very intimidating and sensing that something was off with his wife Derek gently squeezed her hand and said, "don't worry sweetness, you've went over everything with Karen, everything is going to be fine", Penelope blew out a deep breath and nodded her head yes as everybody then headed to the other side of the courtroom to take their seats.
It was only a matter of a few minutes before the bailiff said, "all rise, Judge Todd Thomas officiating", everybody stood up and watched as the older man walked through the doors and walked over and sat down in his seat, he looked over the room and said, "you may be seated".
Everybody took their seats and the judge said ,"we are here today for the case of the state verses Kevin Archibald Lynch, are both parties ready to coninue?", Marvin stood up and said, "Marvin Meade for the defendant your honor".
The prosecutor said, "Karen Morgan for the prosecution your honor and we are ready to continue", the judge nodded his head and said, "alright Mr. Meade, call your first witness?", he stood up and said, "we would like to call Penelope Garcia Morgan".
Penelope felt her heart racing as she stood up and started slowly making her way past KEvin and his father, as she stood in front of her seat the bailiff said, "do you promise that the testimony you are about to give is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you God?", she said, "I do", she was then told by the judge that she could sit down.
As she sat there looking out over the small crowd her hand slid protectively over her baby bump, she wanted to protect her baby from this, from the madman that might very well be his or her father, the one and only Kevin Lynch.
