Two Blue Lines Change Everything-Ch 42
Derek helped her into the judges chambers and laid her down on the couch, she looked up at him and said, "it's too early, it's too early", the bailiff ran into the room and said, "the medics are away on a call but I've called for an ambulance, it should be here in a few minutes your honor", the judge looked at Penelope and then back at the bailiff and said, "I don't think we have a few minutes".
Penelope looked up at Derek and said, "Fran, get me Frannnnnnnn", Derek said, "sir my mother is a nurse, can I?", the judge said, "yes, yes, go get her, go get her", Penelope and the others watched as Derek ran from the room only to come back a couple of minutes later with his mother right behind him/
She quickly helped Penelope to get comfortable on the couch and said, "honey I need to check and see how far you're dilated, okay?", Penelope bit down on her bottom lip and nodded her head yes, Fran had covered her lap with her jacket and the gasped in surprise, Penelope said "what's wrong, what's wrong?", Fran said, "honey, you're fully dilated and ready to deliver, I can see the babies head".
Derek said, "what do you need ma?", Fran said, "I need something sharp to cut the cord once the baby is delivered and I need something to wrap the baby in until the medics get here", Derek looked at the judge as he said, "their is a first aid kit in the cabinet right there and we have extra blankets there too, so please help yourself".
Penelope said, "I need to push, ohhhhh I need to pushhhhhhhh" as a contraction hit her and hit her hard, Fran said, "okay honey, I need for you to push on the next contraction", Penelope nodded her head yes as she collapsed against the back of the couch, it had only been a few minutes and she was already exhausted.
Derek ran back over with the first aid kit and blanket, he laid the kit on the table and laid the blanket beside it, he then said, "what can I do?", Fran said, "get behind Penelope and let her lay against your stomach and chest, she needs the support", Derek said, "on it" as he climbed in behind her on the couch and helped her settle against his stomach and chest.
He kissed the top of her head and said, "you're doing so good sweetness, so so good", she said, "I'm scared hotstuff, it's too early", Fran said, "honey, trust me when I say that everything is going to be fine, this baby is ready to come out which means him or her is stubborn sooooooo I have no doubts that this is indeed my grandbaby".
Meanwhile out in the courtroom Archibald Lynch was all smiles, he was all smiles because he just knew that in the judges chambers Penelope was giving birth to his grandchild/heir, an heir that would ihnerit everything when he was of age, as he sat there smiling he thought,to himself how amazing it would be to have a grandson, a drangdaughter would be okay too but a grandson would be even better.
Dave said, "he's up to no good", Emily said, "I agree, we just came back in and his car is sitting beside the building and it's ready to go", Reid said, "he's planning on trying to take the baby if it does turn out to be Kevins", JJ said, "we can't let him anywhere near Garcie or that baby", they all nodded their heads yes in agreement as they continued to keep an eye on the man in front of them.
The judge had excused himself to step out into the hallway, he didn't want to be in the way, he figured that Penelope had enough on her mind right now without having to worry about a stranger being in the room with her while she was giving birth to her first child, as he paced back and forth in the hallway he couldn't help but smile as memories of his children's births filled his mind.
Between contractions Fran had asked Penelope how long had she been in labor to which Penelope shrugged her shoulders and said, "I had a few cramps this morning and then one when I got on the witness stand but other than that I've felt fine", Derek said, "momma are you trying to tell me that baby girl has been in labor all day?", Fran smiled at her son and daughter-in-law and nodded her head yes.
Penelope looked at Fran and said, "I need to pushhhhhh", Fran said, "okay honey, on this contraction we're going to deliver the baby, are you ready?", she said, "ohhhhh yes, yes I'm ready", she started pushing and she pushed and pushed until she heard the cries of her son or daughter fill the room.
