CHAPTER FOURTEEN: WENDY VS. SHERRIA
After Raven Tail was arrested and Fairy Tail B gained ten points, it was time to continue on with the battle part.
"Well, that result was an embarrassment, but let's move on to the fourth match, the last match of the day-kabo!" Mato said as the audience cheered.
"From Fairy Tail A, Wendy Marvell!" Chapati said.
"I changed my outfit!" Wendy claimed.
"Good luck!" Natsu and Gray said in unison.
"Versus Sherria Blendy of Lamia Scale!" Chapati finished, saying who Wendy's opponent was.
"I'll do my best!" Sherria waved.
"Wendy..." Doranbolt thinks to himself.
"It looks like they don't know Sherria's strength yet. I can just picture the look of surprise on Gray's face." Lyon commented, thinking of Juvia.
"That's not the face I see..." Yuka commented.
"What am I doing?" Lyon said.
"Give it your all." Jura encouraged.
"Right!" Sherria said.
"If you lose, you're gonna spin. You know that, right?" Obaba informed.
"Alright, the moment you've been waiting for! Both contestants are taking the field-kabo!" Mato announced.
Sherria walks out onto the arena but trips over a rock, causing her to fall and the audience to laugh. "U-Um, are you okay?!" Wendy asked, rushing to her, but tripped on a rock as well.
"N-Nice to meet you." Wendy greeted.
Sherria nodded. "Same here!" She greeted back.
"Is that girl gonna be okay?" Carla asked.
"To me, it looks like she's got magic and motivation in spades!" Lily replied.
"Knowing Wendy, I'm sure she'll be fine!" Happy added.
"Wow. I can tell even from here... She's improved enormously compared to seven years ago. But still..." Doranbolt trailed off.
"That Sherria girl's magic..." Mavis muttered to herself.
"This is sure to be an incredibly cute showdown! I'm rootin' for 'em both-pyon!" Chapati exclaimed as his butt was moving side to side.
"'Pyon'?" Lahar repeated, not amused.
"Your character's changed..." Yajima commented.
Siegrain sensed it immediately.
'Jellal, get to the arena! Now!' Siegrain said telepathically.
'You sensed it too, huh? I'm already on my way.' Jellal replied.
'I'll meet you!'
"Alright, the final match of day three!" Chapati said as the gong rang out, signaling the start of the match.
"Begin!" Mato shouted.
Sherria and Wendy stared at each other. "Good luck, Wendy." Doranbolt wished her luck.
"See Sherria's ability and be stunned, Gray." Lyon said.
"Don't underestimate Wendy, Lyon." Gray claimed.
"Truly a cute combination! I'm tickled pink!" Chapati said.
"Was that girl in Fairy Tail?" Yajima asked.
"Yes. I only know a little about her, but she's a very courageous wizard." Lahar responded.
"After all my training, I have to do my best here!" Wendy thought as her face showed determination. "Here I go!"
"Ready!" Sherria nodded at her.
Two blue Magic Circles appeared from Wendy's hands. "Arms, Vernier... Enchant!" She shouted. "Sky Dragon's Wing Attack!"
Wind went straight for Sherria who easily dodged. "She dodged it?!" Wendy said in shock.
"North wind, become the breath of the gods and blow on the land! Sky God's Boreas!" Sherria shouted, attacking with black wind.
"Wendy!" Carla shouted out in worry.
"Black wind?!" Natsu exclaimed in shock.
"She's..." Orga trailed off.
Wendy landed back on the ground with her arms out, blowing the wind away.
"Wow! You dodged that, huh? In that case..." Sherria charged forward. "Wind! Wind! Bore through the ground and make it dance up to the sky! Sky God's Dance!"
Wendy was soon propelled into the air as Sherria jumped up. "I'm not done!" Sherria claimed as wind came from Wendy's feet.
"Sky Dragon's Talon!" She called out.
Both Sherria and Wendy landed on the ground. "Sky Dragon's..." Wendy puffed up her cheeks for her breath attack.
"Sky God's..." Sherria puffed up her cheeks as well.
"I don't believe it! That brat..." Gajeel began.
"...has the same magic as Wendy?!" Doranbolt finished.
"Lost Magic!" Mavis exclaimed.
"Sky God Slayer Magic..." Lyon commented.
"...Roar!"
"...Bellow!"
Both Wendy and Sherria released their breath attacks as blue and black wind collided, causing wind to go up into the arena.
"Is this for real?!" Gray exclaimed.
"Awesome!" Natsu commented.
"Hey!" Lucy was holding down her skirt.
"It's ferocious!" Obaba said.
"Cut it out, Obaba." Yuka told her.
"That'll be in my dreams!" Toby shouted.
Lyon had a calm look on his face as he only 'hmph-ed' in reply.
"Who are you?" Wendy asked.
"A Sky God Slayer."
"God Slayer?! God Slaying Magic?!" Doranbolt exclaimed.
"So that guy wasn't the only one..." Natsu commented, recalling Zancrow.
"You know her?" Erza asked.
"That one guy from Grimoire, Shinpachiro or something..." Natsu responded.
"Didn't he say it was Zancrow?" Gray sweat dropped.
"He used God Slayer Magic too?" Lucy questioned.
"God Slayer?! Nah, it wasn't that big a deal!" Natsu replied.
"No matter who her opponent is, right now, Wendy has to face her on her own. This is Wendy's moment of truth." Erza said.
Wendy stood up, holding her arm. "I'm surprised..." She confessed.
"I heard about you from Lyon. He said there was a girl in Fairy Tail who can use the same magic as me. Maybe I was a little too rough? Sorry. Did it hurt?" Sherria asked.
"I'm fine. This is a battle." Wendy answered.
"Since we're here, let's have more fun, okay?" Sherria suggested.
"I... don't really know what it means to have fun fighting, but I'll do my best for the guild!" Wendy declared.
Sherria winked. "I think that's fine. I'll do my best for love and the guild, too!" She said.
"Gadzooks! To the eye, they're as cute as can be, but both of them are impressive wizards!" Chapati exclaimed.
"Your wig..." Yajima trailed off.
Both Sherria and Wendy attacked one another. "Oh, my! Two wizards, both wielding Wind Magic, but is Sherria-tan one rank higher?!" Chapati said.
"Sherria... tan?" Lahar repeated.
"Strictly speaking, it's Sky Magic." Yajima corrected.
"Everyone... Everyone has... made it this far. Elfman-san said the rest is up to me!" Wendy told herself as memories flashed in her mind. "I don't like to fight, but when I have to fight for the sake of the guild... even I will do it seriously!"
Wendy soon began eating air. "So you eat air, huh? Then I'll do it, too!" Sherria said as she began sucking up air. "Time to eat!"
"Well, well. Who would've expected Sherria to eat air during a battle? Does that mean she recognizes her opponent as worthy?" Jura wondered.
"Do it seriously! If you don't, you'll lose a sock!" Toby exclaimed.
"Cool it. And socks have nothing to do with it." Yuka informed.
"Sherria is just warming up." Lyon said.
"W-What are Wendy-tan and Sherria-tan doing?! Is it my imagination or has the oxygen thinned out a bit?" Chapati asked.
"Dragon Slayer's Secret Art!" Wendy called out as a blue Magic Circle appeared from underneath her feet.
"Has she already mastered them both?!" Porlyusica wondered.
"There it is!" Natsu exclaimed.
"Go!" Lucy cheered.
"Wendy knows the Secret Art?!" Lily questioned.
"Incredible!" Happy said.
"She's as good as won." Carla commented.
"What is this? A magic wind barrier? You've sealed us inside!" Sherria stated.
"Shattering Light: Sky Drill!" Wendy finished as the barrier blasted towards Sherria. Once the light disappeared, Sherria dropped to the ground.
"Sherria!" Lyon shouted out.
"Yeah!"
"She did it!"
"I haven't mastered Milky Way yet... so this was my full force. I used all my magic..." Wendy noted.
"W-Well, well..." Mato mumbled to himself.
"You were wonderful, Wendy." Porlyusica thought as Doranbolt widened his eyes.
"Maybe I went overboard... But this way..." Wendy trailed off as Mato went to check on Sherria.
"Sherria's down! The winner, from Fairy Tail A..." Mato started to say.
"Sorry! Wait a second!" Sherria's voice interrupted Mato, shocking Wendy. "I'm just getting started!"
Sherria was shown to be healing herself. "You're impressive, Wendy." She complimented.
"P-P-Pardon me! Let the match continue-kabo!" Mato said.
"What is she?" Natsu asked.
"Look! Her wounds are gone!" Lucy pointed out.
"Whereas Wendy can't heal herself, with Sky God Slayer Magic you can. Sorry, but she has no chance of winning this." Lyon commented.
"What kind of girl is she?!" Erza questioned.
"Damn you, Lyon... To keep a secret like this..." Gray muttered.
"Even though I told her to give it her all..." Jura began.
"...she hasn't put her whole heart into it yet, huh?" Yuka finished.
"Just how strong is she?!" Toby shouted.
"That's my cousin!" Sherry exclaimed.
"She's far stronger than you!" Obaba scolded.
Wendy stumbled back. "Are you okay? Want to give up?" Sherria asked.
"Wendy..." Doranbolt muttered in concern. He suddenly felt a familiar immense of magic power walk by him, followed by someone else bumping into him soon after.
"Excuse me."
"No problem." Doranbolt said before he noticed Jellal, disguised as Mystogan, walking past him as he was following Siegrain. "Mystogan?"
'Jellal, Sieg, can you hear me?' Meredy asked telepathically.
'Loud and clear, Mer.' Siegrain replied.
'Well? Have you two found anything?' Ultear questioned.
'No, nothing yet.' Jellal answered as him and Siegrain looked out into the arena.
"Sherria... Don't tell me that girl is mixed up with Zeref... Oh, no! At this rate, Wendy will be in grave danger!" Jellal thinks to himself.
Wendy was breathing heavily, trying to catch her breath. "I guess you're not going to give up?" Sherria questioned.
"Wendy!" Natsu exclaimed in worry.
"She can barely stand!" Lucy pointed out.
"Wendy..." Erza muttered.
"This is an incredible fight..." Gray mumbled.
Jellal and Siegrain were walking down the steps to get closer. "If that Sherria girl has some connection to Zeref... Wendy is in danger!" Jellal thought as him and Siegrain moved in front of a few people.
"Hey, you!"
"Huh? This guy..."
"From Fairy Tail...?"
"And one of the Ten Wizard Saints is next to him..."
"Should I stop this? Or wait and see?" Jellal asked himself.
By now, Doranbolt had stood up. "Wendy..." He thought before looking down at Jellal. "But right now... Seven years ago, I infiltrated Fairy Tail. To some extent, I'm acquainted with inside information on Fairy Tail. Mystogan... You're not supposed to exist in this world."
Siegrain noticed that Doranbolt had his eyes locked on them while Wendy winced in pain.
"I don't mind fighting, but I've got no love for one-sided violence where the outcome is clear." Sherria said.
"We got trouble. Doranbolt's watching us." Siegrain informed.
"Sieg, why do you have such nosey colleagues?" Jellal questioned.
Siegrain scoffed. "I've been asking myself the same thing. No doubt he knows you're not Mystogan." He replied.
"You know, you can always surrender." Sherria said.
"I can't!" Wendy shouted, making Sherria get taken aback. "The fact that I'm standing here means that I'm prepared to fight for my guild! I don't need your pity. Until I fall and can't move anymore, come at me with everything you've got! Please!"
Sherria was lost for words. "Wendy..." Carla muttered.
"Sure. That's only common courtesy." Sherria said.
"Right!" Wendy agreed.
"Well, now it's my turn to break out a big move!" Sherria claimed as black wind soon gathered. "I'll make it easy on you and end this with one strike."
"God Slayer's Secret Art!" Sherria called out.
"Sherria, no!" Lyon shouted.
"Not that!" Jura said.
"Fool! Do you mean to kill your opponent?!" Obaba exclaimed.
"I'm answering the full strength of your feelings with my full strength! That's what love is!" Sherria said.
"W-What is that magic?!" Erza questioned.
"That's..." Jellal trailed off.
"Heaven's Gathering Clouds!" Sherria finished her spell, aiming her spell right at Wendy, but the spell moved by her.
"She dodged it!" Romeo said.
"No... It missed her!" Makarov corrected.
"It seems Sherria can heal herself with her magic, but it only works on wounds. It looks like she can't recharge herself with energy." Mira said.
"Right." Juvia agreed.
"Wendy's the opposite. She can't heal herself with her magic, but she can restore another person's strength." Carla explained.
"I see... Then..." Happy realized.
"...she revived her opponent's physical strength?!" Romeo concluded.
"And because of that, Sherria's magic gained too much force..." Lyon said.
"Wendy made her miss... by increasing her strength!" Gray stated.
Sherria stared in amazement. "What strategy! Amazing!" She praised.
"Sky Dragon's..." Wendy leaped into the air. "Crushing Fang!"
She struck Sherria, who blocked it with her arm as it immediately healed.
"That's great, Wendy!" Sherria exclaimed.
Wendy aimed a kick at Sherria, who countered it with one of her own as air collided. The two of them landed on the ground.
"This is an incredible turn of events! Neither side is giving any ground!" Chapati said as Sherria and Wendy were throwing punches. "It's a clash of little fists! Is this tenacity for the sake of their guilds?!"
"I can't stop this..." Jellal thinks to himself as Sherria and Wendy continued their battle.
"Though their fists are small, their passion is vast..." Siegrain thought, smiling a bit.
Everyone was watching the two girls battle. "Go! Neither of you lose!" Natsu cheered.
"Wendy..." Carla teared up a bit.
The battle resumed as the audience cheered and the gong rang out, signaling time was up.
"And so... time has run out!" Chapati announced as both Wendy and Sherria were trying to catch their breath. "The match is over and it's a draw! Both teams receive five points!"
"Awesome!" Natsu said.
"You did great, Wendy!" Lucy praised.
"Both of them were magnificent." Erza stated.
"Yep." Gray agreed.
"Sherria and Wendy both did very well." Lyon said.
"We were lucky to get to see that." Yuka claimed as Toby cried.
"This is the best match I've seen yet!" Chapati said.
"Even though judging them on magic alone, Sherria's level is far higher..." Jura stated. "That girl from back then... has grown this much..."
"Wendy..." Happy sobbed.
"W-What are you crying for?" Carla scolded.
Sherria looked over at Wendy. "Did it hurt? I'm sorry." She apologized.
"I'm fine. That's all I hear from you." Wendy replied as they both smiled at each other.
"That was fun, Wendy." Sherria said, a pale light coming from her hands as she began to heal Wendy.
"My wounds... I enjoyed it too, a little." Wendy admitted.
"Hey, let's be friends, okay?" Sherria offered.
"Sure. I mean, if you want me as a friend..." Wendy said.
"No, no, no! Answer like friends are supposed to." Sherria told her before extending her hand and smiling. "Let's be friends, Wendy!"
Wendy smiled back. "Sure, Sherria!" She accepted. Both girls stood up and shook hands.
"What a moving ending! For this old man, the tournament is over!" Chapati announced.
"Hold on there. Just the third day is over." Yajima reminded.
"Thank you, everyone!"
Both Jellal and Siegrain sensed it again. "What's this?! Even though the fight's over, that sinister magic is still around?! Then Sherria isn't the source of that magic?!" Jellal thought.
"It's from over there! Heading towards the exit!" Siegrain noted. "Mystogan, let's go."
"Right behind you, Sieg." Jellal told him as the two brothers headed towards the exit. Siegrain noticed Doranbolt is still following them.
"Tch! Doranbolt is still on our tail." Siegrain thinks to himself, grabbing Jellal's bicep and making both of them speed away in a flash of white light.
"Of course. Siegrain noticed me. He's quite observant, after all." Doranbolt thought. "Which means he doesn't want me to encounter whoever he's protecting."
Both brothers were outside of the arena as they walked towards the exit. "The source of that mysterious magic..." Jellal paused as he spotted a hooded figure ahead of him with Siegrain spotting them as well.
"It's him!" Siegrain finished as the two broke into a run.
Siegrain suddenly stopped as Doranbolt appeared in front of him and Jellal, causing Siegrain to hold his arm out in front of his twin.
"He came out of nowhere!" Jellal thought.
"Shit! I forgot about his Teleportation Magic! I was hoping to buy us some time!" Siegrain thinks to himself.
"You're not going anywhere." Doranbolt informed as the hooded person continued walking away.
"Who are you?!" Doranbolt asked Jellal.
'Don't say or do anything, let me do the talking. You're supposed to be a member of Fairy Tail.' Siegrain told Jellal telepathically, knowing what he was thinking.
"Doranbolt, what's all the commotion about?" Lahar questioned as he appeared with Rune Knights behind him.
"I know you're not Mystogan. So who are you?" Doranbolt questioned Jellal once more.
"Do you ever just mind your own damn business, Doranbolt? It's obviously him." Siegrain snapped.
"Who are you protecting, Siegrain?" Doranbolt asked.
"Huh? I'm not protecting anyone. Now get out of our way, we're in a hurry." Siegrain countered as the two twins tried to bypass Doranbolt.
However, he teleported to them, stopping them in their tracks. "Oh, no, you don't! Mystogan isn't in Earthland." Doranbolt said.
"I'm Mystogan." Jellal argued.
Doranbolt reached for the cap and took it off, revealing Jellal.
"Crap..." Jellal said.
"Jellal?!" Lahar exclaimed.
Siegrain acted quickly, grabbing Jellal's wrist and shoving him behind his back. He then extended his hand out and causing a white Magic Circle to appear.
"Make one step towards him and I'll make you regret it." Siegrain threatened. "Do you really want to start a fight here, Doranbolt, Lahar? That's fine, I'll take you both out right here, right now."
Jellal glanced down when he felt Siegrain's hand shaking. Jellal placed his free hand over Siegrain's, trying to calm him down.
"Oh, so there you are, Mystogan-kun, Siegrain-kun!"
Siegrain looked over, seeing Yajima had arrived as the Magic Circle coming from his hand disappeared. "Yajima-san!" Doranbolt exclaimed.
"Lahar-kun... You can understand why Mystogan-kun hides his face, can't you?" Yajima asked.
"Mystogan shares the unfortunate fate of having the same face as my brother." Siegrain finished. "After all, I am Jellal's twin. If you have something against him, you have something against me."
"That's—!" Doranbolt started to say.
"If you say, 'that's different' so help me Doranbolt I will punch you in the face." Siegrain interrupted.
"You're saying... He's another person?!" Lahar questioned.
"Perhaps you know of the world called Edolas?" Yajima asked.
"Yes. I heard about it from one of my subordinates." Lahar replied.
"That world and this one are connected. There are people who have the same faces. Our opposites." Siegrain explained.
"Then you're from Edolas?" Lahar questioned.
"Yeah." Jellal answered.
The Rune Knights soon walked away. "I appreciate your understanding." Jellal said.
"Oh, no. I apologize for not knowing the circumstances." Lahar stated as Jellal placed his cap back on.
"To me, Jellal is an evil being. If I run into him, you can bet I'll report him." Jellal said, covering his identity back up.
"Good."
"Let's go, Sieg." Jellal told his brother.
"I'll be right behind you." Siegrain hummed. Once he made sure Jellal was far enough away, he turned to face Lahar and Doranbolt.
"Lahar, I know you didn't fall for any of that." Siegrain spoke up. "If you even think about arresting my brother again I'll make your life a living hell."
"Is that a threat?" Lahar asked.
"It's a promise." Siegrain fired back. "I won't let you shut Jellal back into the darkness again. As long as I have my seat on the Council, Jellal will be protected."
Siegrain gives one last glare at Lahar before following Jellal.
Siegrain exited the arena, finally spotting Jellal. "Did you catch him?" He asked.
"No. I lost him." Jellal replied.
"Damn." Siegrain muttered. "That magic was like Zeref's and yet it wasn't his. Who are you?!"
