Chapter Seven - Lee's Apartment - Day 3 mid morning

Amanda King woke up to the sun peaking through the curtains of Lee's bedroom. She bolted up and looked around the room. Her bags were sitting over by the chair Lee had in his room and she was wearing one of her had forgotten that Lee offered his bedroom for her to sleep in. She tried to put up a fight and almost pulled her rank on him but finally relented. She smiled as she thought about the night she and Lee had. They stayed up late talking about the next steps they were going to take regarding their relationship. They talked about their childhoods. They talked into the night. She smiled as she thought how Lee finally let his fears go. He even told her that. She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair. She stood up and walked over to her bags and took out a pair of jeans and a blouse. She headed over towards the bathroom and jumped in the shower.

After getting herself ready for the day she walked out into the living room and saw that Lee was already dressed for the day himself. He was sitting on the couch going over some of the reports Amanda had brought home from the Agency. He looked up and beamed at her.

"Well..Good Morning Sleepy head! I was wondering when you were going to wake up. I have fresh coffee and some donuts for breakfast."

Amanda raised her eyebrow at him. "Donuts Lee. Really? You aren't supposed to be driving. You are still technically on bed rest."

Lee sheepishly looked at her and said "Yeah I know. I am sorry honey. I was feeling good this morning and I went for a small run. I picked up the donuts on my way back. You were still sleeping when I came back and I didnt have the heart to wake you. We did stay up late talking…among other things." He winked at her as he thought of all of the kisses he was finally able to share with her.

Amanda blushed as she also thought of kissing Lee. She knew she wasn't going to win any arguments with him so she headed towards the kitchen to pour herself some coffee. She saw the box of donuts sitting on the counter and shrugged her shoulders. Oh why not. At least it's something for breakfast. She snickered to herself as she walked back to Lee in the living room. She sat down next to him on the couch and he immediately pulled her close to him. He kissed her nose and said "Good Morning"

She smiled at him and said "You said that already. Good Morning to you as well. So what's on the Agenda today?"

Lee smiled at her and said "Well, I was thinking that we get all of these reports finished and signed. Then you can take them back to the Agency. Tonight I will make dinner and then maybe we will take a nice night walk around the Potomac."

"I will agree to all of the above Lee if you promise me one thing."

Lee looked at her. "What's that?"

"When I am taking all of these reports back to the Agency. You stay here and rest. I mean it. I know that you are feeling better but I want you to rest. You work too hard sometimes, Lee and you have to remember to take care of yourself."

Lee started to protest and grumble to Amanda about how he was feeling better. He stood up and this time ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. Amanda walked over towards him and put her hands on his chest. She hoped her touch would calm him.

"Lee…you have to rest. I mean it. I care about you very much and I don't like it when you push yourself too much. You had a serious injury this time around. It scared me. We promised ourselves last night that we wouldn't keep things from one another. This is one of those times for me. I really thought I might lose you this time around,Stetson. I don't want to feel like that again."

Lee saw the worry in her eyes and he pulled her closer to him. He sighed and smiled at her. "I guess I am going to have to get used to my girlfriend taking care of me, huh?"

"I am your partner Lee. We watch each other's backs. Always." She smiled at him and reached up to give him a soft kiss. She continued "And yes…your girlfriend will definitely take care of you. If you will let her."

Lee leaned down and gave Amanda a kiss. As he wrapped his arms around her waist Amanda pulled her arms around his neck. She played with the ends of his hair as he deepened the kiss. When they broke apart he smirked at her "You know something?"

"What's that?"

"I really like saying that you are my girlfriend. I know that sounds a bit juvenile…but at the same time it's how I see you. I want to share everything with you."

Amanda pulled Lee into another deep kiss and then said "Oh Lee…I want you to know that I feel the same."

He kissed her once more and then let her go. He sat back down and said "Well, let's get these reports finished. What do ya say Partner?"

Amanda laughed as she sat back down and grabbed a few files to start working on.

Later that afternoon - The Agency

Amanda knocked her customary four knocks on Bill Melrose's office door. She could hear him yell "Come in"

"Good afternoon, Sir. I just wanted to drop off all of the pending reports Lee needed to get done. They are all finished and just need you to approve them."

Billy Melrose smiled at Amanda "Good afternoon to you as well Amanda. Well. Well. Well. You actually have Lee willingly working on reports…taking naps and resting too?"

Amanda piped up "Oh yes Sir! In fact I wouldn't even let him come with me here to the Agency. He wanted to ride with me but I wouldn't let him."

Billy laughed. Amanda always loved it when she could see her boss relax and laugh. "How did you manage to get Scarecrow to stay home and rest?"

Amanda smirked at him and said "Oh I totally pulled my status on him. It was basically an order. Lee had no choice."

Billy's laugh was infectious and both he and Amanda laughed at the thought of her pulling rank on Lee and making him stay home. As they were laughing Francine walked into Billy's office and she said "My my my…what's so funny in here? Amanda dear...are you here to tell us that you are finished with dealing with Lee? Has he kicked you out of his apartment already? And only after three days?"

Amanda rolled her eyes and sighed "No Francine. Actually, Lee has been on his best behavior. I have only had to pull my status on him this morning. He wanted to come with me but I said no. He's resting comfortably at home."

Francine looked at Billy who was just beaming at the housewife. Francine didn't understand what Billy or in fact Lee saw in Amanda. Sure she was good at figuring things out from time to time…but for a divorced housewife with two kids and a mortgage to actually tame the famous Scarecrow. It was too much for Francine to even comprehend. She smirked at Amanda and said "Well, just remember Lee is a lone wolf. He cant be cooped up for much longer. The nightclubs will be calling his name soon….as well as the numbers in all four of his little black books!"

Amanda gathered her purse and stood up. She smiled at Billy as she headed towards the door. She took a deep breath and turned around. She stared at Francine and said "Oh I think you are wrong about that Francine. I know for a fact that Lee burned all four of those little black books months ago. He prefers to do normal things now." She opened the door and walked out saying as she left "You have a nice day!"

Amanda could hear Billy's laughter all the way to the elevator.
