The music of the WWE Intercontinental Champion could be heard on the PA System throughout the Ball Center in Denver as 12,000+ could be heard and seen. The lights in the arena were going around in a frenzy of colors. The Champion walked out onto the stage clad in his ring gear with a t-shirt over his gear as he had the title on his shoulder while he looked down at the stage floor. He slowly raised his eyes and set his sights on the ring. He spit out his water in a mist like form and started to make his descent down the ramp as the fans cheered.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome the Intercontinental Champion: Ced!"
Once Ced reached the ringside area, he looked down taking a look at his Championship title prior to waking around to the steel steps. He walked up the steps and entered the ring, making a beeline for the corner. He hopped up onto the middle turnbuckle and unhooked his title to raise it in the air getting some cheers from the crowd.
He looked around at the crowd with a frown on his face as he jumped down and reached out to grab a microphone from a member of the ring crew as his music faded away.
"In just a few days I go one on one with Jey Uso in the middle of this ring for this coveted championship that rest firmly on my shoulder", He said as the camera panned in on the title on his shoulder.
"This title been around the block for 40-plus years and in it's long illustrious history it has had several legendary holders. It has seen the likes of The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Randy Savage, Bret Hart and so many more legends." The WWE Universe popped at the mention of those legends by the Champion, Ced.
"And now I have solidified my name on the list of legends who have held this great, prestigious championship. I have busted my ass time and time again just to get my hands on this title. I have spilled blood in the center of this ring. I have gone through tables. I tore the house down at WrestleMania with Jaden Sennoa just for this title. So I'll be damned if I allow Jey Uso to simply waltz in and destroy every single thing that I have worked my ass off for!"
"As far as I'm concerned-" Ced was saying but he was cut off when the music of someone who he didn't want to see.
"Done With That (Day One Remix)" Hits
The WWE Universe booed as the music of "The Right-Hand Man" Jey Uso played on the PA System of the Ball Center. Jey Uso walked out onto the stage alone in his ring gear sporting his "Right-Hand Man" shirt with a microphone in hand. The music faded away into the background as Jey stood on the stage looking down the ramp as his opponent for Backlash stood in the center of the ring.
"Ced, Ced, Ced. Ain't nobody out here to listen to you come here and talk bruh. Ain't nobody here to see you. They came here to see the Tribal Chief! They came here to see "The Right-Hand-"
"Jey, I'm sorry to bust your bubble but nobody came here to see you," Ced said on the mic as the fans chuckled while Jey just stood on the stage looking pissed off before he put the mic up to his mouth.
"Ced, you always think that you're Mr. Funny. You always pandering out here to these people like they give a damn about you. They don't. They don't respect you. They damn sure not gone respect you after I beat your ass at Backlash and take that Intercontinental title from you," Jey said while Ced nodded along as he turned his head and looked out among the crowd.
"Even if that happens which it won't, they will still be asking the question of which one are you?" The fans "ooo"ed in response as Ced stared down at Jey who looked on with a frown.
"And if they're not asking that question, they'll be looking at you as Roman's bitch!" He said on the mic getting the same reaction. Jey dropped the mic and immediately ran down the ramp as the fans cheered while Ced quickly discarded the microphone and the Intercontinental title.
Jey slid under the bottom rope and hopped up to his feet to charge toward his Backlash opponent. Cheers could be heard as the two gladiators started trading shots to the jaw as the WWE Universe cheered. The two were trading blows until Ced had caught Jey with a knee to the gut making Jey grunt as he backed up into the corner. The Intercontinental Champion walked towards the corner and immediately started to put the boots to the abdomen of Jey that is until he heard the music of The Tribal Chief.
"Head of the Table" Hits
The same people that were cheering, turned to the stage looking at the stage distracted. This gave Jey Uso enough time to recuperate in the corner. Ced didn't see Jey start to stir out of the corner allowing Jey to mount some offense. Jey clocked Ced directly in the jaw with a picture perfect Superkick causing him to fall flat to his back as the music faded away.
Jey mounted over the Intercontinental Champion and started to pile on a serious of right hands as the fans booed. Jey put a stop to his relentless assault on Ced and stood up looking around the arena at the WWE Universe.
He quickly exited the ring and walked over to the ring announcer's area grabbing a steel chair as the boos got louder. Jey walked towards the ring as Ced was up to a knee in the ring. Jey slid under the bottom rope and waited till Ced reached a vertical base to ram the chair into the gut of Ced, making him grunt upon impact.
The #1 Contender ot the Intercontinental Champion slammed the steel chair directly into the spine of Ced making him drop down to the canvas groaning in pain. Jey was hell-bent on making sure Ced felt pain as he began to repeatedly slam the chair into his spine as the fans booed with each hit. Jey kept this relentless assault going until the chair eventually snapped.
Jey looked down at Ced, looking happy at his work. The former Tag Team Champion looked around the ring, looking for the Intercontinental Championship. Once his eyes set on it, he walked over to the title, picking it up. Jey looked at Ced once more with a sadistic smile as he backed up to the corner. Ced slowly crawled towards the ropes, grunting as he reached and grabbed the middle rope. He used the ropes as leverage, helping him pull himself up to a vertical base.
He stumbled around before turning around to be met with the title straight to his face as the crowd booed. Ced dropped flat to his back staring up at the ceiling, dazed as Jey Uso walked towards him. Jey placed his foot on Ced's chest and raised the title up in the air.
And now the question on everybody's mind: Could this be a preview of Backlash?
A/N: So I hear the rumors of WWE getting sold. Do I agree with Vince's decision to do so? Absolutely not. In my opinion, he should have never come back. Vince created this entertainment empire known as WWE but it was time for him to walk away. He did what he needed to do and with Stephanie and Triple H running the show I felt WWE was in a good place. If WWE does get sold, so be it. But if it gets sold to the wrong buyer, I will have to retire from doing WWE Fanfics.
Now back to the story at hand, I will be skipping the next few weeks build and will be going straight to the Pay-Per-View and after Backlash that is when the real fun begins.
