33: Riposte
Ever since Alix told me of the aftermath of Marinette almost getting a ride with Adrien, I started to get a little nervous.
At first I thought I could tell the world that I love Adrien without consequences.
But now, I know Marinette's secret and she knows mine.
I could care less if she thinks I'm an easy girl, but knowing her, she might connect the pieces and figure out that Cat and Adrien are the same person.
So I did my best to accompany Adrien in his remaining fencing tournaments of the season.
Sometimes Nino would come, but he had plans with Alya or needed to babysit Chris.
However, this last tournament I'm grateful Nino was able to come.
We both had hand flags to show our support.
"I'm sure Marinette would have loved to make the flags," Nino commented nonchalantly as we waited for the tournament to officially begin.
"Are you saying something about my handiwork?" I pouted as I looked at them.
They weren't overly pretty, but I think the word D'Argentcourt in fancy cursive would be enough to show which team we would be cheering on.
I didn't want to seem biased because all the other members deserved to be cheered on too.
"No! No," He waved his free hand in front of him, "Um, what I mean is that, um, Marinette would have liked to show that she also wants to support our boy Adrien."
I had to choose my words carefully. But sometimes, when it comes to Nino, I have to be blunt.
"Marinette has a crush on Adrien," I statedly flatly.
Immediately Nino was denying it, saying that Marinette is just a fan, blah blah blah.
When my deadpan stare didn't waver, Nino finally said, "Okay. Marinette is crushing over our boy."
"I knew that already," I admitted softly.
Giles thankfully still hadn't appeared yet, since he's waiting outside of the changing rooms, as per his job. "Look, are you trying to set them up?"
Nino nodded sheepishly. But then he frowns, "How long did you know?"
I sighed tiredly and quietly explained. I could sense the betrayal in his eyes, but I explained why I didn't say anything.
"It's hard being a good friend," Nino rubs the back of his neck. "But I think it worked for the best. I do like Alya a lot more than the silly crush I had on Marinette."
I smiled wryly, "Can you forgive me?"
"There's nothing to forgive," He says as he gives me a side hug, "So, are you going to help Marinette with Adrien."
"No," I replied too quickly. I cleared my throat, "I mean, Adrien is our best bud. If he had a crush on someone, then we should help him out, not the other way around.
"If that was the case, we would have been helping Chloé and Lila."
"Lila crushes over him too?!"
I quickly shushed him and looked around, glad that everyone was busy in their own conversations with the people with them.
"Lila asked me to set her up with Adrien when she first arrived at school," I quickly told him of the event. Including the words of how I am not going to set Adrien up when he didn't ask for it.
"You make a lot of sense," He nods. "I need to talk with Alya." Then he winced.
"I hope she doesn't get mad."
I tap his knee, "We can talk with her together. I know Alya can be… rather intimidating when she wants to."
Nino smiled gratefully, "You're a lifesaver."
Before I could respond, the speakers overhead blared to life.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for the annual high school tournament to begin!"
And so we watched the tournament, Giles finally sitting down next to me after D'Argencourt finally appeared on the court in front of us.
I offered him the spare flag I made, and he accepted it with a small smile, waving it along with us as he kept a careful watch on Adrien.
It wasn't a huge surprise that School D'Argencourt won.
Nino and I cheered as loud as we could.
Giles left as soon Adrien was out of sight to follow him back into the changing rooms.
Leaving Nino and I to wait for them.
"So, there's going to be another school tournament in a couple of months," Nino started as he showed me his phone. "Our school can participate, but we need a competing duo to represent."
It was a dancing competition and the prize was 10,000 euros, but we couldn't keep it. That money was for any charity of our choice, but we have to submit it before entering so the handlers of the money can verify if it is a legit cause.
"You and Adrien should totally compete!"
"Uh… I don't know…" I trailed off. "Not that it wouldn't be nice, but Adrien already has a tight schedule as it is." Then I smiled cheekily at Nino, "Why don't we become a team? You're not a bad dancer yourself."
He blushed, "I would love to, but… Alya already kind of wanted us to be a team."
I'm not going to lie, it did disappoint me.
"Oh," I said quietly. "Then in that case, let the best team win," I offered a small smile.
"Hey, there," A sudden voice said as the newcomer came in front of us.
It was a guy around our age, he was rather tall, with broad shoulders and a lithe body. His blonde hair was pulled up into a man bun as his blue eyes were staring at me, ignoring my friend Nino.
"Hello, señorita," His Castellan-Spanish accent is rather noticeable. "I couldn't help, but notice your beauty from the other side of the court. Please tell me your name, hermosa?"
"Jolene," I said simply, not comfortable that he was calling me beautiful. "And this is my friend, Nino," I introduced, hoping he would stop ignoring one of my best friends. "And you are?"
His teeth were perfect for a toothbrush commercial as he smiled, "I am Axel Rabaneda-Cuervo. At your service." When he noticed that I wasn't reacting, he finally took the time to look at Nino.
"You both are just friends?"
Nino nodded slowly, "Yeah. We are best buds."
Axel grinned then as he looked at me again, "Would you like to have coffee with me?"
"No thank you," I told him simply. "I'm sorry, but you're a stranger."
"So let's not be strangers anymore…" He trails off as he goes to grab me, but I pull my hand out of his reach.
I grabbed Nino's hand and we stood up.
"Look, Axel," Nino frowns as he fixes his glasses with his free hand, "Jolene isn't interested so please leave her alone."
Axel put his hands up in surrender, but that didn't stop the smile on his face. Or the way his eyes were still focused on me.
He slowly puts his hand inside his black blazer jacket and shows me a card.
"If you change your mind, here's my number," he winks as waves the card in front of him and shoves it into my hand. "Hope to see you soon."
And with that he left before we had time to react.
"Can you believe him?" Nino gruntled as he then takes the card from my hand.
His eyes squinted as he examined it.
Then he looked at me, "Are you okay?"
I smiled fondly as I squeezed his hand before letting go, "I'm good because of you."
Nino blushed before giving the card back to me.
"So, whatcha gonna do with it?"
My answer was to tear it in half and place the remains in the pocket of my skirt. I'll throw it in the trash when I have a chance. I hate littering.
"He's not my type," I stated dryly.
He's what my older cousins would call a fuck boy. I'm not that type of girl to fall so easily for guys like him.
Adrien is the guy I allowed myself to love indefinitely.
We didn't wait long for Adrien to appear with Giles right behind him.
Nino and I both hugged him.
"Thanks guys," He smiled at us as he proudly fixed his golden medal shining on his chest. "D'Argentcourt invited the whole team to eat at a restaurant, if you guys want to come?"
I nodded eagerly, however, Nino had to shake his head, "I would love to bro, but I have a thing to do very soon."
"Really? That's a shame," Adrien frowns softly, "But I understand. At least you're coming, Jolene."
I smiled, "You're lucky my schedule is open."
He grinned and soon we all walked out, taking whatever came to mind as we arrived at Adrien's car.
"Let me give you a ride home, no arguments," Adrien insisted. And Nino couldn't argue.
We were a little late to the restaurant, but Mr. D'Argencourt and the rest of the team didn't mind.
Naturally I sat down next to Adrien, but next to me is Leo, the senior that's leaving the team.
"Will you be continuing fencing?" I asked him as Adrien was busy talking with the others.
Leo coughed a little after finishing his drink as he looked back at me.
"Uh, yeah. I actually got a scholarship for college," He answers. "I hope to make my new team proud."
We made small talk and it was easy to talk to him. I had questions about the school he was going to and what he planned to study.
But then I felt a familiar hand grabbing my thigh and I looked towards Adrien who was making casual conversation with the rest of his teammates.
"What about you, Jolene? I heard that the coach wanted you to join for the next season?"
"Ah, I'm not that passionate as you guys, but it's fun observing," I offered. "I plan to study animation, so studying movements in real life helps with making animated videos more realistic."
"Whoa, I never knew that you wanted to be an animator. Though, I guess it does explain why you sometimes bring a sketch pad," He says sheepishly.
We laughed, and Adrien's hand squeezed my thigh, making me squirm a little.
"Are you okay?" Leo asks.
"I'm fine," I said quickly, "Just a little hungry."
"Oh, then I'll let you eat," Leo smiled as he then turned his head away and enjoyed a conversation with the other guys.
I gave Adrien a look, but the cheeky boy only gave me an innocent look as he rubbed my thigh, his fingers teasing the inner part.
Of all the days I'm wearing a skirt.
I could feel a blush coming to my cheeks as I felt my lower regions starting to get moist…
I had to move a hand under the table and grabbed Adrien's hand.
He didn't stop his teasing, but I started to tap the back of his hand in Morse.
I was telling him about what I wanted to do with him the moment we were alone back in my room…
Then he started to squirm.
Suddenly he stood up, getting everyone's attention.
He raised his glass and cleared his throat, "I want to propose a toast for all of us, but especially to Leo and Mr. D'Argencourt."
Everyone else stood up and raised our glasses as Adrien made a rather sweet toast about teamwork, Leo's talent and Mr. D'Argencourt coaching.
We drank and soon, Adrien excused us for leaving.
Giles was naturally waiting for us outside.
"I want to stay with Jolene for a while," Adrien said as we arrived at my building. "If my father or Nathalie asks where I am, you know where I'm going to be. I'll call you when I'm ready, yeah?"
Giles only nodded as Adrien and I exited the car. He drove off when he saw us inside the building.
Adrien pulled me to the elevators, and pushed me against the wall when he noticed no one was inside.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Plagg flew out of Adrien's blazer. "Don't start doing those things while I'm that close!"
I blushed, but Adrien pouted as he put his hands away from my ass.
"That's more like it," Plagg crosses his arms in front of him. Then he narrowed his eyes at Adrien, "And I know that you started it, Adrien. Control your impulses."
"Funny that you're saying that," Adrien replied wryly.
"Hey! At least I'm not affecting anyone around me," Plagg states, "You guys are making me feel things that I don't want to feel. So control yourselves until I am comfortable in Chez Plagg, with a spread of cheese and lying comfortably in bed as I watch my novelas." He says with a dreamy look on his face.
Before we could say more, the elevator dinged, and Plagg hid inside the blazer just in time.
Sure, no one was waiting on the other side, but it never hurt to be safe than sorry.
When we got to my apartment, I locked the door behind us.
Adrien closed all the windows and curtains, while I prepared the cheese spread.
Plagg was there waiting in his house.
"Would you like a bubble bath?" I asked him.
"Oh, sweet cheeks, that sounds like a good idea. Afterall, I deserve a little relaxation," he says.
"Now that Plagg is definitely distracted," Adrien says as he closes my bedroom door behind him, "I want to see if you really wanted to do what you said you wanted to do."
My only answer was to show him the whip cream and smile innocently at him.
"There's only one way to find out," I told him as I took off my shirt, revealing just my bra.
Adrien took off his own shirt and basically threw me on top of my bed.
We still didn't actually make it to third base, but every time it keeps getting harder to resist taking off all our clothes.
We were really pushing it as Adrien unhooked my bra and placed whipped cream over my bare breasts, his tongue doing delicious things all over them. I was a mess as I held his head, my hands making a mess of his hair.
When it was his turn, I put my hand under his pants. It was hard to get into them since there was so little space left in them, but I did a sloppy hand job as I teased his hard cock.
More than once, I was tempted to bring down his pants and boxers, and spray the whip cream on his lower regions, including his inner thighs…
Damn, I read too much erotica.
But… is it really that bad, considering my situation?
I want to feel that pleasure, and make Adrien feel that pleasure too. And only with him.
It was almost dinner time by the time both of us felt satisfied.
It was the day of the tryouts.
And as much I would have liked to participate, I knew that it would have consequences.
Mr. D'Argencourt needs a student who will dedicate to his class to be a great fencer.
I can't give that to him. It would not be fair to him or me.
I have my own job that I'm lucky I'm very passionate about. And it's already consuming a lot of my time.
Plus, I'm going to be part of a movie very soon.
The best that I could do was to just observe.
"It's a shame that you don't wish to participate," Mr. D'Argencourt sniffs as he stands beside me. "You have promise."
"It's very flattering, but I made my decision," I told him wryly, "But I hope you still don't mind if I watch."
"Your presence is always welcomed, Miss Jolene," He smiles slightly before finally walking to the court.
I just sat down on the bench and observed the hopeful contestants coming in.
Since they are only here for the tryouts, they don't have the attire, meaning that it was easy to identify Marinette.
I've overheard Alya and Marinette talking about how Marinette's been studying the fencing rules over the weekend.
Mr. D'Argencourt quickly introduced himself and emphasized that there was only one spot left.
Quickly the four contestants got in line against those of the team.
I saw Marinette moving her head, probably looking for Adrien among the uniformed team members.
I couldn't hear what they were saying, but judging on Marinette's gestures, she was describing Adrien.
I couldn't help the small smirk, when her opponent was Adrien himself. But then that smirk was wiped off my face when I realized that her opponent was Adrien.
Being stoic wasn't easy as I saw them clearly talking. I noticed more than once Marinette blushing. But there was a small comfort that Adrien was being his usual self.
But suddenly, as he finished helping Marinette get into a proper stance, he looked towards me and waved.
Surprised, I waved back and offered a small smile.
Immediately, Marinette offered a shy wave before putting on her mask.
And I was mildly surprised at Marinette's quick reflexes as they spar. But I had to pay attention to the others.
There was one that showed promise, but he was almost at the same level as Marinette.
I felt my satchel moving and smiled a little as I opened it so Plagg could get a bit of fresh air.
"Thank you for the treats, sweet cheeks," Plagg says, "Though I thought you would have more of the cheese variety."
"As much as I love you, my handsome cat, I'm not going to put Camembert in my purse," I told him wryly. "There's plenty in my kitchen."
"Fine," He pouts, but he quickly grabs another piece of candy and buries himself back in my satchel.
To whoever is listening, please that whoever wants to join the team for the right intentions, be chosen.
"Hey, you! Are you Mr. D'Argencourt, the fencing master?"
I looked where the voice originated and I saw a person wearing a red fencing outfit.
"I want to join your team."
…Thank you to whoever responded to my prayer.
"Only the best are admitted, you knave!" Mr. D'Argencourt replied as he faced the newcomer.
"And I was, everywhere I went," They replied proudly.
"Par le Fer! This whippersnapper has nerve!" The fencing master smirked. Already I could tell that he was excited to see if the newcomer can actually prove their statement. "All right! I may consider your admission, shall you defeat one of my students!"
As the newcomer came closer, I couldn't help noticing how short this person was. They were maybe as tall as me, or I could be a couple of inches shorter.
My eyes were trained on them and noticed the subtle outlines of their body.
This fencer is biologically a girl.
"Which one of you is the best combatant?" She asks as she faces the entire fencing team.
One by one, the crowd of fencers parted to show Adrien in the middle.
Adrien lifted his mask to show that it is him among the rest of his identical peers.
"Adrien, please give our visitor a lesson in chivalry," Mr. D'Argencourt grinned, barely hiding his excitement.
Adrien put his mask back on, "I shall, Master."
Both the dueling combatants put on the wires as they went towards the fencing fighting area.
I remember Adrien mentioning that he doesn't like wearing the machine since it restricts his movements, and that sometimes he feels that the machine isn't accurate.
Mr. D'Argencourt stood on the bar and watched as they each let their sword touch each other on the shoulder, the machine letting out a buzzing sound.
They both bowed at one another before going on opposite ends as they waited for the fencing master's signal.
The girl showed off some movements that reminded me a lot of the Japanese sword fighting anime scenes.
Either this girl is a hardcore otaku, or actually trained in kenjutsu.
As much as I would have liked to be part of the crowd to watch the spectacle, I still had a good view from the bench I was sitting on.
Well, I was able to see Adrien mostly face to face.
I silently did a 'Sign-of-the-Cross' to myself while staring at him.
His response was to tap his free hand towards where his mouth would be behind the mask.
He nodded his head once as he got into position.
"En garde! Prêts? Allez!"
Barely five seconds passed as they clashed swords before the buzzer went off.
"Simultané. Pas de touche."
They both went back to their original place as they readied themselves for the next round.
"En garde! Prêts? Allez!"
It was almost like a repeat of the last one.
The buzzer went off and Mr. D'Argencourt genuinely looked lost.
"Uh… Abstention!"
It's very rare for him to abstain. This girl really is skilled in fencing. I hope she stays for the team.
She actually has a strong passion for the sport.
"En garde-!"
"Wait!" She calls out, getting everyone's attention. "I request that we do it the old-fashioned way. We'll be more at ease without the machine."
"Adrien?" The coach asks his student.
He nodded and took out the wire connected to his back, "Fine with me."
The girl copied his actions, but with a more flare as she did backflips before getting into position.
"En garde! Prêts? Allez!"
This time, there was a huge difference.
She was aggressive, didn't back down. She was making Adrien work for the point. It was like witnessing opposing knights fighting for honor.
They were fighting across the court, even heading up the stairs, getting the high ground like that Star Wars so famously quotes.
As much as I would have seen how the fight was going, I didn't want to share the same fate as Mr. D'Argencourt. Getting trampled is not what I want.
I watched as Marinette used the other set of stairs to follow the fight.
It took a lot for me not to follow her. But I decided to get my ass out of the bench and wait for Adrien by the entrance.
Then suddenly I spied the girl walking down the stairs.
Her red uniform definitely caught my eye as she strutted across the courtyard.
The passion she had was gone. Instead, all I could feel was shame and anger. But anger at herself as she stabbed her sword at the floor with so much force she was able to penetrate the concrete.
This is the type of negative emotions Hawkmoth attracts his Akumas.
I tried to go after her, but I felt my legs stuck.
How do I approach her?
I don't even know her name.
But then Adrien started running and grabbed the sword on his way.
I didn't think twice as I followed after him.
"Hey, wait! Your sabre!"
Adrien yells as he sees that the girl is opening the back passenger door of a car parked right in front of Giles.
Thankfully the girl stopped as she faced him, right after taking off her mask.
Adrien was stunned into silence, I couldn't help that little tinge of jealousy as his jaw dropped.
I elbowed him and he quickly offered her sword back, "Let's do a decisive match!"
She only stared at her weapon, with a deep frown on her face.
"What's the point? You won," She says, her voice now softer now that it wasn't distorted by the mask. And she wasn't in competitive mode. "There's no such thing as a second chance in my family. Goodbye."
She was about to get in, but I stopped her.
"Sorry," I said quickly when she glared at me as I took my hand away from her shoulder.
"But if my friend offers a decisive match, then it's for a reason," I said softly. "I don't know what happened, but-"
"But you don't question the referee," She states firmly. "Goodbye."
It was final as she got into her car.
Adrien grabbed my wrist and led me to his car.
Quickly we both got in.
"Follow that car!" Adrien ordered and Giles didn't need to be told twice.
We were silent as we buckled our seatbelts.
Then I gave Adrien a look, waiting for him to notice it as he opened his phone.
Almost two minutes passed when he finally said something.
"She's the only daughter of a family of prestigious fencers.
"Her mother and grandfather were champions. I've read about them before!" He finally looks at me. "She and her mother just moved to Paris! How incredible!"
"Appearently very incredible since you dropped your jaw when you saw her," I stated as I crossed my arms.
Plagg had quietly left my satchel and was clinging behind my shoulder.
"Wh-what?! No, that isn't true!" He says as he puts his phone away and grabs my hand.
I simply raised an eyebrow, "I was there, dummy."
"I was just surprised that she was a girl," He says. "I promise."
I pressed my lips tightly, before sighing.
"Sorry, I got… jealous," I admitted softly.
"Hey," Adrien squeezes my hand, "I love you."
With those simple words that he's repeated countless times to me, it still brings a blush to my cheeks.
"I love you- Watch out!" I screamed as I grabbed onto Adrien.
It's weird how time feels distorted when danger runs into your direction. I saw a shiny, fast-moving object coming towards us. I thought it was a motorcycle that was about to hit us.
But then I realized it's humanoid form.
After that, time went too quickly.
All I remember was screaming as I tried to hold onto Adrien, but our fingers slipped.
My belt got jammed as it forced me in my seat, however Adrien rolled forward towards the street as the car was sliced in half.
The car spun away from Adrien and I felt pain across my chest and my head. The strap across my chest tightened, causing trouble to breathe.
"Jolene!" I heard Adrien shout from somewhere nearby.
…Was it getting dark already?
"Jolene!" Adrien's face was in front of me, and I tried to take the belt off, but my fingers weren't obeying my commands.
"You hurt your head," I heard him as I felt his warm hands on me. "Stay still."
"Run," I managed to tell him.
"Don't say that," He frowned as he was about to use the sword to cut the seat belt.
"I'll be fine," I managed to say as I realized what had happened. "The Ladybugs will fix everything the faster the Akuma is captured."
I saw the conflict in his eyes, but I grabbed his hand and gave it a squeeze. "I know everything will be fine. Cat Noir and Ladybug always save the day. The sooner they act, the sooner it will happen."
He was leaning in when a voice suddenly yelled, "Adrien! I'm taking you up on your offer of a decisive match!"
I should have known it was the fencing girl.
Adrien quickly put himself away from me and I nodded silently.
"I can't fight you like this. You're not yourself!" Adrien yells back as he lowers the sword and starts running away.
The pounding on my head was getting stronger. It was so easy to succumb to sleep…
When I woke up, it was like nothing had happened.
I was still in the car, with Giles looking back at me, but he was looking for Adrien.
"Last thing I remember, he was running away," I offered the bodyguard as I took out my phone.
He looked worried as he started to drive.
Soon I got a text before I could send one.
"He's in the Louvre," I told him.
He nodded and quickly started driving towards that direction.
And I noticed the red car that just drove away.
No, stop those bad thoughts.
Adrien already told me that he loves me.
The car barely stopped when Adrien opened the door and quickly climbed in to wrap his arms around me.
"I'm so glad you're safe," He whispers into my ear and kisses my cheek.
I hugged him back and kissed his cheek in return.
He sat down beside me and grabbed my hand, rubbing my knuckles with his thumb.
"I told you," I smiled softly.
I looked towards Giles, and I saw the tiny smile on his lips, but his eyes were diligently on the road.
"Her name is Kagami," Adrien says, getting my attention. "And we will have a decisive match."
"I would like to be there," I started, "If you don't mind."
"I don't," He grins. "In fact, would you like to wear that cheerleader outfit on that match? Even make a cheer just for me?"
I playfully slapped his shoulder, but laughed.
But then I leaned closer, my lips brushing against his ear, "I'd rather give you a private show… in my bed."
"Giles!" Adrien squeaks out. "To Jolene's place as fast as possible! And from there, I will be hanging out at Jolene till dinner."
Giles nodded and sped up just enough to still be within the speed limits.
I smiled wryly as Adrien's hand rubbed up and down my thigh. But I was doing the same to him.
Adrien is the only one to bring out this side of me.
Omake 21
No girl has ever made me wait for their call.
That was until I met Jolene.
I was sure I would hear her voice before the end of the day, but weeks have passed and she still isn't out of my mind.
"Axel, you have countless girls that throw themselves at your feet," Manolo says as points towards the crowd of girls that were on the other side of the glass door. "Why is this Jolene chick any different?"
"You should have seen her, my friend," I started. "She is definitely one of the most beautiful girls I've laid my eyes on."
Manolo rolled his eyes, "If she was that beautiful, why didn't you take a picture of her?"
I groaned, "You don't know how many times I've asked myself that too. But I never imagined she would never call me back."
"You said that she was with a guy, right?"
"But they both made it clear they were just friends," I insisted. I sighed as I looked through the shirts.
Ugh, another Gabriel Agreste design.
"Look, if I see her again, God, I hope I do," I pleaded at the ceiling, "I'm going to be more insistent."
"Sure… good luck with that, my friend," Manolo shrugs. "Are you sure you aren't infatuated with her because she has no interest in you?"
"…Maybe," I admitted. "You know what they say, you want what you can't have."
Miss Jolene was different.
Many of the girls I go out with have their faces full of makeup and fake lashes and even boobs.
What caught my attention was just how naturally beautiful she was across the stadium.
Her delicate cheeks could change to a delicate rose to a bolder red.
Her lips were a cute pink and plump. Making them more inviting to kiss.
Her legs had those sensual curves of a dancer.
If she is a dancer… then I hope she will be in the National High School Dance Tournament.
AN: Geez, I really did take my time to post this and sorry it took this long, but hopefully you guys don't have to wait long for the next update.
Anyways, thank you to LeonFeneBlack, starrat, aliza-chan and gwencarson126 for leaving a review. As always, they bring a smile on my face.

To gwencarson126: Yeah, you are technically correct, but I am planning to bring Axel (another OC) in several more future chapters for drama... ;) ;) (If anyone can figure out in the fashion world who is Rabaneda-Cuervo without google, I'll be impressed)
Special shoutout to jor56! I'm sorry for not noticing you in the last chapter. Thank you for your support.
