Last time on Sonic the Hedgehog, the King of Acorns, King Nigel Acorn, scheduled a meeting with the other world leaders regarding the theft of a closely guarded Treasure, the Chaos Emeralds. However, as they discussed their plans, Mobotropolis is attacked by the one stealing the Emeralds, referred to as Dr. Robotnik. Meanwhile, princess and daughter, Sally, and her friend, Rosie, head to the vault and find it being assaulted by one Colin Robotnik. A battle was sure to ensue…

Within the meeting hall, a standoff between the world leaders and the leader of the invading forces of robots ensued. King Acorn stepped forward, sword pointing at Robotnik, who didn't seem too bothered.

Nigel: "Dr. Ivo. What are you doing here? I thought you had dropped off the radar after your latest experiment failed."

Robotnik: "Failed? Oh quite the contrary. It felt inspiring actually. It opened up my eyes to the truth of our world, enough to consider wiping the slate clean and starting over."

Nigel: "Wiping the slate clean…? What do you mean?"

Robotnik: "I don't need to answer you, Nigel. Not when I have your entire capital hostage. Now I suggest you hand over your Chaos Emerald."

Nigel growls, forced to lower his sword. But he hoped he could bluff his way out of this situation.

Nigel: "I don't know what you're talking about. I don't have any Chaos Emerald."

A voice then contacts Robotnik, it being Sage through communications via his watch.

Sage: "He lies. I have confirmation of Snively finding the target."

Robotnik smiles evilly, one of his Egg Robos shooting a laser at Lupe in the shoulder, knocking her to the floor in pain. Elise tries to run to her side, but another laser blast stops her in her tracks.

Robotnik: "Maybe that'll teach you to take my threats more seriously, Nigel. Now what about you, Aleena? Will you be more honest?"

Aleena bit her lip. She turned to her left; robots pointing lasers at the rulers of Meropis. She turned to her right; robots pointing lasers at Elise and Lupe. Forward? Herself, Nigel, and the President. Seeing no other choice, she simply sighs.

Aleena: "West Island…"

Robotnik: "Good. Sage… You got that, right?"

Sage: "Yes, Lord Robotnik. Sending coordinates to Omelette right away."

Aleena: "Now release Mobotropolis and its citizens."

Robotnik turns away, tugging at his mustache as he made no such order. Aleena glares at him for this, but he simply smiles.

Robotnik: "Glare all you want. You should know… I made no such promises."

Aleena's eyes widen before she starts screaming profanities at him. He ignores them before walking out of the room.

Robotnik: "Don't kill them. I want them alive when I announce my new world order to all of Mobius."

Egg Robo: "Affirmative, Lord Robotnik."

The door closes as Robotnik smiles widely and walks away back to his ship.

Back in the caverns housing the vault of the Chaos Emerald, Colin launches his wrecking ball at Sally and Rosie, forcing them to jump away. Sally quickly runs up the chain holding the wrecking ball to get at the cockpit. But as she got close, the long nosed human pulled out a laser and shot at her, hitting her shoulder and off the chain.

Colin: "That's what you get, furball! I've been authorized to destroy anyone who disturbs my work!"

Rosie: "Princess! Are you okay!?"

Sally grits her teeth as she stands back up, holding her arm.

Sally: "Just a scratch. I'm not going down yet!"

Colin: "Brave words, but you're nothing compared to me! The great Colin Robotnik! The future ruler of Mo-"

Before he could finish that, he is hit on the head by a rock tossed at him by Rosie, who glared at him angrily.

Rosie: "Would you kindly… SHUT UP!?"

Colin's eyes swirl a bit from the rock hitting him, but he shakes his head before retracting his wrecking ball and pulling out robotic arms with drill hands from his flying vehicle.

Colin: "Fine! I'll just turn you two into cave drawings!"

Colin starts revving up his vehicle before thrusting at the duo. They jump aside before Sally rushes in and slams a kick on the back of the vehicle, causing it to crash into the cave wall, drilling into it.

Colin: "Gak! Come on you stupid Egg Mobile! I upgraded you with the finest tools I could sneak from my uncle's lab! You two should be beaten by now!"

Sally: "Then I guess those upgrades are only as good as the driver."

Colin: "How dare you!"

Colin pulls out his gun, but Rosie jumps into the cockpit and slams herself into him, knocking the gun out of the vehicle and onto the cave floor. Sally quickly rushes to it and stomps it, destroying it.

Sally: "Sorry! This is a "no guns" zone!"

The short man starts fuming as he kicks Rosie in the face and knocks her out of the cockpit. He then reassumes control of his vehicle and pulls out the wrecking ball again, aiming to slam it onto Rosie. But then Sally quickly rushed in and slammed another kick to the side of the Egg Mobile, forcing the wrecking ball to miss.

Colin: "Grrr! This is unfair! Two on one is totally not cool!"

Sally: "Neither is you using some all purpose mech! If you want a fair fight, then drop the vehicle!"

Colin: "Tch! Fine! Time to play dirty!"

Colin retracted the wrecking ball, this time pulling out a set of flamethrowers from the front. Rosie and Sally stare wide eyed as they knew what came next. Colin smiled evilly as he unleashes a mighty torrent of flames at the duo, seemingly engulfing them as he laughs maniacally. Once the cave was thoroughly on fire, the man wiped away a bit of sweat from his head as he sighed.

Colin: "That seemed to take care of them. What pests…"

He then receives a communication alert. He answers and a tiny hologram of Sage appears on his deck.

Sage: "Snively. Lord Robotnik has demanded a report from you. You have the Chaos Emerald, right?"

Snively: "Stop calling me by that name, you mangy computer! I am the great Colin Robotnik Jr. and I demand to be called that!"

Sage: "Your request has been forwarded to the trash bin department for consideration. Now to put it in Lord Robotnik's words… 'What's the hold up?'"

Snively: "...Tch… I get no respect… I found your cursed Chaos Emerald. Right-"

Snively checks his pockets, then his person, starting to sweat a bit as he panics.

Snively: "Wait! I just had it! It was right here…"

Sage looked at Snively with a glare, staring into his very soul with a look of absolute disgust at his failure.

Sage: "So… You lost it, I presume?"

Snively: "Sh-Shut up! I did not! I just… dropped it while two furry freaks were fighting me, that's all!"

Sage: "I will forward your failure to Lord Robotnik personally. And I shall add that the 'Great Colin Robotnik Jr.' failed to handle two mere Mobians of little importance."

Before Snively could protest, Sage cuts off communications, causing him to scream out in rage, slamming his controls in frustration.

Not far from where the flames were set off, hiding in the cave made by Snively's machine, Sally was getting treatment on her laser gun wound by Rosie, who tore a piece of her dress to act as a bandage to stop the bleeding until they could get some real medical care.

Sally: "Quick thinking, Rosie, using the second tunnel as a way to avoid those flames…"

Rosie: "Don't mention it, princess. I just… remembered it, is all…"

Rosie then pulls out the Chaos Emerald, the cyan Emerald, from her pocket. Sally was shocked by the fact Rosie could so stealthily steal the emerald without Snively noticing.

Sally: "Amazing, Rosie… Truly."

Rosie: "So this is the closely guarded Treasure of the world leaders? What is it exactly?"

Sally: "Mom and Dad call it a 'Chaos Emerald'. According to legends, the seven Chaos Emeralds are mystical objects made long before our recorded history. They are often referred to as 'Miracle Gems' by some cultures. When all seven are brought together, the heart of the one wishing upon them determines what sort of miracle they bring upon - if one is pure hearted, then the world is gifted good fortune; but if someone is evil hearted, then the world is plunged into darkness…"

Rosie: "So then the Emerald is closely guarded in order to stop evildoers from wishing upon them?"

Sally: "That's according to what's passed down to my family. I don't know really, but they do contain some mysterious power. No one, not even G.U.N. and their fancy teams of scientists, can explain how these gems work."

Rosie: "What should we do then…? About this and about… him?"

The duo look back and see nothing for now. Snively, or Colin to them, hasn't noticed that they hid in the cave he made. Sally sighs before weighing her options. They could just leave, but what are the chances Snively wouldn't just start destroying the city in order to get to them if he found out? Thinking about this, she saw no other option.

Sally: "We need to get rid of that guy. Or at least destroy his machine. If we can wreck that, then he shouldn't be able to cause trouble while we go alert my dad."

Rosie: "That is strange though… You'd think your father would know the Emerald was in danger considering the other Treasures were supposedly stolen…"

Sally takes a moment to ponder this, getting a bit worried about what was going on top side, but she shakes her head. Handle the current situation and worry about what was going on above later.

Sally: "We'll worry about that later. Rosie, let's worry about that jerk first."

Rosie: "Alright…"

Moving back quietly to where Snively was, they find him searching through the ground for the Chaos Emerald, he truly thinking he had turned the duo into ashes. Sally smiles before gesturing for Rosie to give her the Emerald, which the other girl complies. Once she has the Emerald, she walks from the corner and smiles.

Sally: "Hey! Long nose!"

Snively: "Gah!"

Snively jumps and quickly turns to face Sally, glaring at her, astonished by her still being alive.

Snively: "You!? How are you still alive!?"

Sally: "It'll take more than a fireworks display to take down the Princess of Acorns!"

Snively growls but then spots the Chaos Emerald, his grit teeth turning into a calmer smile.

Snively: "Ah, I see. I suppose I was a bit too hasty then. My apologies, your highness. But I will need that jewel you have in your hands."

Sally: "For what reason? Nothing good I imagine."

Snively: "Oh no, it is for something truly grand. One that will change Mobius' future for the better, in fact."

Sally rolled her eyes, hearing this kind of spiel from villains from various comics Sonic would show her.

Sally: "Save it. You want this Chaos Emerald, you're going to have to pry it from my cold, dead hands."

Snively: "Tch. So much for being cordial… Fine! Have it your-"

As Snively turns to head back to his Egg Mobile, he finds it being driven, sloppily, by Rosie, who had snuck by while Sally kept him distracted.

Rosie: "No idea what these buttons do, but I've driven a car once!"

Snively: "Ah! You fool! Get out of there before you break something!"

Rosie pushes a few random buttons, causing the drill hands to come out with the wrecking ball. The machine starts going haywired as it starts spinning, with Rosie getting sick before she bailed. The little human started crying out as his machine suddenly overloaded and explodes into pieces.

Snively: "No! My beautiful machine! Destroyed!"

Sally runs over to Rosie and helps her up, with Rosie a bit dizzy from the experience.

Rosie: "Remind me never to take a joyride in machines again…"

Sally: "Let's go, Rosie. We've dealt with this menace, so he's no danger to Mobotropolis."

Snively: "You… You'll pay for this! You hear me!? You've not heard the last of the Great Colin Robotn-"

Rosie simply chops Snively on the back of the head, effectively knocking him out. Once that was done, both she and Sally run back the way they came, heading up the stairs back to the surface.

Back on the surface, the sky was orange as sunset had arrived, showing just how much time had passed down in the secret caves. Sally and Rosie run through the halls, but find it oddly quiet.

Rosie: "Princess! Something's off! Is it normally this quiet?"

Sally: "Ignore that! We need to find my dad and…"

Sally trails off as she slows her pace, looking out the window with wide eyes. Rosie looked out with her and found a daunting sight; a large floating fortress right over Mobotropolis, with the city itself becoming a warzone… and the invaders winning.
