(A/N)- So I may or may not have been a smidge (a ton) bitter about certain narrative decisions by DC when I was writing the fics for RobStar week this year and in a fit of spite I decided, "You know what? If DC won't give me all the DickKory happy family goodness I want then I'll just have to write it myself."

Never underestimate the power of spite as a motivator lol

Anyway, all that was mostly to say that SELF-INDULGENT FLUFF IS INCOMING.

Disclaimer: [See aforementioned bitterness about DC.]

RobStar Week 2021, Day 3 - Snowfall

He was closer to the door than Alfred in the moment, so when the excited knocking came he just answered it.

And was immediately bowled into by two small bodies.

"Grandpa!" Mar'i and Jake both squealed happily.

Bruce grunted a little as he recovered from the blow to his diaphragm, grin stealing over his face as he slung an arm around each of them. He looked across the softly snow-covered courtyard to where Dick was helping a very heavily-laden Kory exit their rental car.

His adopted son cringed apologetically as he held Kory's elbow, supporting her and her armful of luggage.

"Sorry," he said. "They were a little too excited to wait."

"Ah it's fine," Bruce dismissed with a little wave, releasing both kids to run around excitedly in the inch-deep blanket of white, soon covering the courtyard with trails of footprints. "Surprise attacks keep my senses sharp," he joked. He hurried down the front steps and across to the car, a little bit awkwardly with his bad hip. "Here, let me help you with those."

Kory gratefully passed him some of the suitcases and with the load now divided between the three of them they were able to quickly bring it up to the porch, soft flakes of powder falling from the sky and nestling in their hair. Dick shook himself and his parcels off, setting down his armful before turning to receive a hug from Bruce.

"Merry Christmas Bruce," he said warmly.

"It's always nice see you, Dick. You're a bit early, though, aren't you?" Bruce asked, patting down Kory's jacket for her.

"We wished to make it inside before it became too cold," Kory explained, reaching up and gently adjusting her father-in-law's collar. "Your meteorologists predicted a hard freeze tonight and…" She smiled wryly. "I do not quite yet trust my ability to handle driving on ice."

Bruce turned to Dick with mock offense. "Dick, you made her drive this time?" he asked, feigning shock.

Dick's smile was strained and tired. "Pulled an all-nighter before our flight. Finally managed to put away that mob boss smuggling metahuman children through the wharfs."

Bruce nodded in approval. "Good for you," he said with pride. He straightened, shaking out the kinks in his joints. "Well come on in, I'll have Alfred bring up some tea. And hot chocolates for the kiddos."

"Of course," Kory said, smiling broadly. She raised her voice, calling to her children. "Mar'i! Jake! Come inside please!"

Giggling, the raven-haired youngsters ran up behind them, their feet trailing snowflakes onto the polished tile floor.
