Summary: Set in Originals S2. Instead of Esther putting Elijah under that sleeping spell in "Red Door," after Kat comes back to life after escaping a prison world, Esther puts her under the sleeping spell. When Klaus finds out, can she be rescued? When she wakes up after Klaus wakes her up like he did with Elijah in the show, will she be okay?

It was a dismal night, as Kat appeared in New Orleans. She'd just escaped a prison world, injured from her time there, having to deal with Kai. Since she was in the Quarter, she knew where to go. She didn't know if she could trust Elijah after he'd left her in the dust, but she knew Klaus would help her, even if it was just to appease Elijah. When given a chance, she knew Klaus could be a gentleman. If someone was in trouble and he felt like it, he'd save that someone. Plus, she knew he didn't want Elijah to know that he'd known about her dying of old age, but had never told him.

Not far from the neighborhood the compound was in, she got captured by a wolf. Since he was a wolf and she was only human, she was no match for him, so she lost the fight with the wolf.

When she woke up, she was chained to chains that were connected to the cave ceiling. She saw that a doll was attached to the chains and there was a witch. She'd never angered any Quarter witches, so she knew the witch was possessed by another.

"What do you want?" Katherine asked her.

"To reunite my family first," she replied.

"Esther," Kat said, realizing who she really was. "What do you need me for?" Kat questioned her.

"I'm going to make my children witches, but they have to be willing. And breaking you, will break Elijah."

Before she knew it, Kat was put under a sleeping spell. However, Esther knew very little about her. And Klaus was the only Original that knew she was descended from Travelers. Because of that, Kat was able to fight what Esther's spell was meant to do to her, long enough to appear inside the compound in the parlor. After all, she knew him well enough to know he'd be in the parlor.

"Klaus," she greeted, getting his attention.

He turned around to see her, only to realize that she wasn't really here.

"What's going on? How are you even alive?" he inquired.

"I ended up in Kai's prison world. After I escaped tonight, I got taken. Your mother has me under some kind of sleeping spell. I don't know how long I can fight it. Especially, when I'm not at my best. You should hurry. We're in one of the mausoleums," she answered and informed, before disappearing, unable to fight any longer. Then, in the next instant, she was in her own hell, reliving all the horrible things she'd gone through for 500 years.

Meanwhile, after making up his mind to save her, Klaus left the compound. As he did, he hoped she'd be okay. She was human. She wasn't as indestructible. Since Katerina had told him that she was under a sleeping spell, he assumed which one, and soon found the rare plant in the bayou. Then he grabbed a leaf from it and headed to the cemetery in the Quarter.

Esther was still keeping her under the spell, when she was interrupted by Klaus' attack. She wasn't expecting Klaus to rescue her. When he through her against a wall, everything went black.

Klaus was instantly in front of her and ripped the doll off and to the floor, before undoing the spell with the leaf. He then unchained her, gently picked her up in his arms, and blurred back home.

Stay with me, Katerina, he thought, as he blurred home, hearing her slow breathing. He knew she'd lost a lot of blood. She was also very pale. Since she couldn't digest blood last time she'd been human, he didn't want to try it. Because of that, he knew his only chance was either Rebekah or Freya. Freya healing her was the quickest, though.

Once back home, he blurred upstairs to a guest room, gently laying her down in bed, before calling for Freya loud enough for her to hear.

A few minutes later, Freya entered to see what was wrong. She didn't know her, but after Klaus summarized who she was and what happened, Freya agreed. So, without further ado, Freya healed her and Kat lived to see another day.

Afterward, Freya left the room. Klaus then layed her down in his bed and sat on her bedside, waiting for her to wake up.

When she woke up, she realized that she'd been healed and was in Klaus' bed. She only knew it was his, since he was the one seated on her bedside.

"Welcome back, Katerina, luv," he greeted with a smile.

She sat up in bed.

"Thanks."

"You're welcome, luv."

After Esther was killed yet again, everything was peaceful in New Orleans and Kat and Klaus turned a fresh page. They even found love in each other.
