Last time on Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic and Lam went through the Spring Yard to which Lam explained more of her origins and her motivations for traveling. After sneaking aboard the robot cargo ship, they reached their final destination, Scrap Brain base. And they were ready to clean house.

Within the Scrap Brain main building, Omelette was on her throne, playing on an 'Egg Gear'. On it was a game in which she was playing as her father in his classic design capturing Mobinis to get a high score. She seemed awfully concentrated.

Omelette: "Come on… Another thousand points and I'll beat my high score!"

As she starts to get close to her goal, the alarms go off, startling her out of her game and off her throne, causing her to panic.

Omelette: "Wah! What's going on!? Why's there an alarm!?"

An Egg Robo enters the room to alert the girl of trouble in the base.

Egg Robo: "Lady Omelette. Intruders have been spotted in Section B Cargo Hold. Badniks are en route, but the intruders are quite strong. Code Red protocol initiated."

Omelette: "C-Code Red? N-No way… They aren't that strong… right?"

Omelette started feeling afraid for her own safety but then she noticed the Egg Robo staring at her. She recomposed herself and yelled at it.

Omelette: "You nimrod! Go and get rid of them! I don't care how; destroy half the base if you need to! JUST GET RID OF THEM!"

The Egg Robo immediately left, feeling terrified of Omelette's wrath as it ran out. Omelette then broke down into full fear mode once she was alone.

Omelette: "GAAAH! WHAT AM I TO DO!? DADDY TOLD ME TO WATCH THE CHAOS EMERALD, BUT NOW WE'RE IN TROUBLE! IF I FAIL NOW, SAGE WILL NEVER LET ME LIVE IT DOWN!"

She then stops panicking as she gets an idea. A slowly growing smile as she turns towards the encased Chaos Emerald, getting a very naughty idea indeed.

Omelette: "Oh they want this so badly? Then… Come and get it, dummies!"

Back at the cargo hold, the doors leading into the building explodes outwardly as Lam walks out, dusting herself off, Sonic following her.

Sonic: "Nice one. Think we got their attention?"

Lam: "I'd say so."

Lam points to behind Sonic where Egg Robos were flying in with Buzzbombers, firing down at the duo. Sonic smiled as he jumped and curled into a ball. Lam jumped behind him and smashed her head on the curled up Sonic, sending him at the robotic reinforcements and smashing them to pieces. He then lands on the ground before bowing.

Sonic: "And he scores the landing."

Lam: "Eh, you could have done a midair breakdance, just to show off."

Sonic: "Didn't want to seem like an attention hog."

As the two casually banter, they see more robots ride in. Sonic grabs Lam and dashes out of the scene and to somewhere quiet to catch their breaths.

Sonic: "Gotta try and not break every robot we see. If we do, we'll be wasting stamina."

Lam: "Not a bad plan. But we are kind of in the heart of an enemy base; we'll be lucky to not waste stamina anyway."

And just as she finishes saying that, Buzzbombers and Batbrains fly in, the former firing off lasers from their tail ends while the latter swoop in for a tackle. Sonic evades the blasts and tackles. When one Batbrain got close, Lam grabbed it and tossed it at a laser blast, destroying it. But this only caught the attention of a squad of Egg Robos.

Lam: "Oh man! They do not let up!"

Sonic: "Didn't you just say we're in the heart of an enemy base?"

Lam gives him a look before he tosses her into the air. He then curls up before instantly dashes at the Buzzbombers, smashing them once he got close. Lam then came down, slamming her head onto the ground with a mighty ground pound, the shockwave sending the Batbrains into a scurry. The poor goat girl is left dizzy from the impact though. Sonic quickly directs the Egg Robos' attention to himself as Lam tries to recover.

Sonic: "Hey! Egg bots! I've seen tougher eggs in my local supermarket!"

This taunting succeeds in getting the robots' attention as they start firing at him, but his swift movements prove to be too much for them. A Ball Hog comes in though and starts chucking bombs at Sonic's general radius, causing him to trip from an explosion.

Egg Robo: "Exterminate."

Sonic: "Uh… About that egg comment…"

Sonic quickly curls up and slams himself into the robot, tearing through it. As the other Egg Robos get ready to shoot, a few of them get rammed into by a charging Lam, slamming them into the wall. Sonic grabs the last Egg Robo and tosses it at the Ball Hog, destroying them both.

Lam: "Boy we really riled up the hornet's nest. Sonic, I think it's time to make a mad dash to that building over there."

Sonic turns and sees the building in question. It was a very tall building with a smiling mustached man's face on various red banners.

Sonic: "You mean the building with the banners and looks quite important? Yeah, sure. Why not?"

Sonic and Lam run in that direction, destroying more Badniks along the way. Of course the hoard was quite ferocious, coming in large waves that seem to only be around to waste the heroes' time. Sonic immediately grabs Lam as he bounces on a spring, escaping the hoard and climbing up the building, barging in from the tallest point.

The duo enter the building, landing in what appeared to be a throne room. However, whoever occupied the room was no longer there. Lam then notices an empty glass case with a red pillow, but nothing about it strikes her as odd.

Sonic: "Huh. Where's the party? It's awfully quiet without anyone around."

A monitor behind then turns on as a booming voice laughs at them; it was Omelette, the girl the duo fought at Green Hills.

Omelette: "That's because I had a feeling you'd come straight to my throne room! And boy does it feel good to be right!"

Lam: "You! You're that little brat that took my village! Where are they!?"

Omelette: "Oh don't worry~ They are right here with me! Though I can't promise they'll be here for very long!"

Omelette turns the camera to face a capturing capsule which housed the villagers inside. She then directs it back at herself as she smiles devilishly.

Omelette: "Daddy is going to be so proud of me once he sees that I've taken over this entire island! And you two aren't going to stop me!"

Lam: "Let them go right now! Or else when we get to you…"

Omelette: "Sticks and stones, you hairy weirdo! And trust me, it'll take a lot more than that to stop me!"

Sonic: "Oh we'll stop you. I dunno if you've noticed the path of destruction we've left in your base, but you're gonna need to hire some new help soon."

Omelette: "Oh I'm not worried. In fact, you'll find that my precious robots… are quite plentiful."

Omelette smiles wider as robots of various kinds pour into the room, surrounding the duo. Sonic grits his teeth as he and Lam eye the surrounding enemies. They were trapped, hook, line, and sinker.

Sonic: "Well this sucks…"

Lam: "Any plans, big blue? From my perspective, we are basically screwed."

Sonic: "Just one."

Omelette: "Oh don't try, fools! You are completely trapped! Outsmarted by the great Omelette!"

As Omelette laughs at her supposed victory, Sonic curls up and buzzsaws the ground, cutting a hole into the floor, causing it to drop one floor down. Omelette stops laughing as she sees this before going red in the face.

Omelette: "You CHEATERS! Robots, after them! I want to see their bodies beaten black and blue for making a fool of me!"

The robots quickly followed through the hole, giving chase to Sonic and Lam. The duo ran through the halls, evading laser blasts from pursuing Egg Robos as they ran.

Sonic: "Just saying! This was not how I expected to spend my weekend!"

Lam: "Do I look like the weekend planner myself!?"

Lam then sees an elevator and immediately rams into, breaking the doors down. She calls Sonic over as the two jump down, taking a short way to the bottom. As they descend down the elevator shaft, Sonic looks up to see the elevator itself chase them.

Sonic: "Heads up, Lam! We got something ready to crush us!"

Lam got herself ready, grabbing Sonic as she reeled in her legs, kicking the wall behind her as she rams through the elevator doors, narrowly avoiding the elevator. Before the duo could take any minute to rest, Rollers rolled in, ready to slam into them. Sonic quickly uses his feet to kick the robot to the nearest wall, smashing it, while Lam grabs her's with her hands and headbutts it. With that minor problem settled, the duo could tell they were gaining some distance from their pursuers, but they couldn't slow down. They ran down the halls and descended further down the large building. As they reach the ground floor, Burrobots immediately shot from the ceiling above, Orbinauts following them as they attack.

Sonic: "Okay, this is ridiculous! Lam? I think we should just skip to the good part!"

Lam: "Time for the Goated Sonic Special?"

Sonic smirks before revving up his Spin Dash. Lam scratched the ground as she got ready to charge. Once the robots' attacks were close enough, Sonic launched at Lam to which she kicked him in the air. Lam jumped up before slamming her head down at the curled up hedgehog, sending him flying down at the robots. Sonic uncurled as he spins, slamming an axe kick right onto the nearest Burrobot. The impact alone caused the upper levels to explode as Sonic and Lam caused the floor of the ground level to collapse, taking them to the lower levels of the building.

Sonic and Lam land in some strange part of the main building, though after landing, they quickly lunge to cover as debris falls from above. Once that settles down, Sonic takes a look around the area, noticing a door up ahead.

Sonic: "That looks inviting. This must be the deepest part of Scrap Brain."

Lam: "Then my village must be close. How're you holding up?"

Sonic: "Just fine. If you're ready to do this…"

The two could feel an unease tension in the air as they approach the door. Almost like whatever was past the door was going to be the hardest thing they fought yet. But with looks of determination, they opened the door, ready for the conclusion of this adventure…
