Queen Aleena Hedgehog, the current queen of the Kingdom of Snow, was once married to another hedgehog once upon a time. Bernadetta de Hedgehog, the lone sister of a trio of well respected hedgehogs of different professions. Bernadetta was a well renowned rescuer during disasters of many kinds; Jules was an expert flier and a fantastic military officer during his time on the force; and Charles was once a great scientist and inventor, a modern day Einstein. Though Aleena keeps regular contact with her brothers-in-law, Charles, or Uncle Chuck, keeps to himself a lot after the tragic loss of his sister. Today though will be different with Sonic…

In the skies over the Mobian ocean, after leaving South Island to head to West Island, Sonic decides to strike up conversation with his uncle, Jules.

Sonic: "So Jules, what's West Island like?"

Jules: "Outside of occasional visits, I don't actually know. Charles set up shop there though."

Sonic: "Uncle Chuck's there!?"

Jules: "Yep. Though he mostly prefers to keep to himself a lot, only speaking to the locals of West Island's Emerald Hill Resort."

Sonic: "Oh yeah, I did hear that West Island was mostly a resort island. Kind of funny since it houses a Chaos Emerald."

Jules: "That's a story unto itself, but it didn't start off as a resort. Same as Lam's village, it was just a small assortment of Mobians and humans living there in peace. But according to Uncle Chuck, someone turned the place into a resort, building a hotel with all the nicknacks you expect, a casino city, and even a whole large city, all from the ground up."

Sonic: "It isn't that girl's daddy, was it?"

Jules: "No. This all started way before these recent incidents. But Charles has been insistent on keeping quiet on all the details, and he will not elaborate on why."

Sonic wasn't quite sure of what to think about any of that. He thinks back to his meeting Uncle Chuck; he was a pretty open guy, telling him all sorts of things and sharing all kinds of details. Of course, that was before his mom died. Ever since then, Uncle Chuck has visited less and less, but never without a delightful smile and a plate full of his favorite chili dogs. The thought of visiting Uncle Chuck for his chili dogs excited Sonic after a moment.

Sonic: "Oh man. I just realized that I haven't eaten anything since I saved Lam. I really hope Uncle Chuck doesn't mind fixing us a batch of chili dogs…"

Jules just lets out a laugh at that.

Jules: "Charles loves to cook. About as much as he loves fixing things! A spatula to him is like a wrench; whether meal or metal, he'll fix up whatever he can. The man's reaching his fifties and he still has the energy to pick up a wrench and fix a whole airship without breaking a sweat."

Sonic: "Like how I don't break a sweat running so fast?"

Jules: "While different, our family's list of talented hedgehogs continues to grow. But you, my boy, are at the highest of that list. To this day, none of us can quite figure out how you were born with super speed…"

Sonic: "I blame it on having two totally awesome mothers!"

The two share a laugh at that before Sonic calms down, then getting serious for a moment.

Sonic: "Hey… Uncle Jules. Um… Was Mom…"

Jules: "Really angry when you jumped out and bailed? Yep. Oh so furious. I would be shocked if she didn't ground you."

Sonic: "Yeah… But she's captured… right?"

Jules only lets out a sigh. He wasn't there when Mobotropolis was taken over - actually left after dropping off the queen to do maintenance on the Tornado. But he has a good feeling that Aleena is still alive and just under the enemy's custody. So he gave a smile to reassure Sonic.

Jules: "Yeah. She's just fine. In fact, I bet she'll give you a big ol' hug once she's saved. So in the meantime, be strong for her."

Sonic smiles at Jules before nodding, but then an explosion catches both of their attention. Looking down at the island below, West Island, Sonic and Jules could see an army of Egg Robos ransacking the area, trying to capture Mobians.

Sonic: "Looks like it's time for me to make an entrance!"

Jules: "Sonic! What about your injuries from your last venture?"

Sonic: "Heh. These scrubs aren't nearly as tough. I'll have them turned to scrap in no time."

Of course, bravado aside, Sonic was worried that he wouldn't be able to run as fast due to his leg. Regardless, he jumps out of the plane and skydives to the island below.

On the island, a mustached teal colored hedgehog in a green sweater was firing off a stolen Egg Robo blaster to defend himself and those that the Egg Robos were planning on kidnapping. Of course, it was just him versus a bunch of egg shaped robots with a variety of tools at their disposal so he could only manage so much. At least until Sonic slammed onto an egg shaped robot and cracked it open.

Sonic: "Surprise! Hold your applause until I've turned all of you metal heads to scrap!"

The Egg Robos immediately turned and fired at Sonic, but Sonic quickly dodged out of the way. His injured leg was acting up a bit from jumping around, but he had to keep moving or else suffer worse than an injured leg. He Spin Dashes into a line of Egg Robos, dismantling them quickly as he ran through. As an Egg Robo tries to rain laser blasts from the air, Uncle Chuck fires it down, causing it to plummet into a squad and explode, destroying them. He then runs up to greet his nephew.

Uncle Chuck: "By the temples of Gaia! Sonic, what are you doing here, my boy!?"

Sonic: "Oh, you know. Family vacation and all that. We can stop and chat later though."

Sonic points out to Buzzbombers carrying Crabmeat and more Egg Robos coming as reinforcements. Once the Crabmeat land, they start shooting at the duo, forcing them to split. Sonic rolls into a ball to bowl over the crustacean robots, bouncing off one to start bashing the Buzzbombers before they could start firing off at them. Uncle Chuck deals with the Egg Robos, but as the duo finish off the last of the robots, the ground suddenly starts shaking. A mound of dirt rises before the tip of a drill comes out, followed by a tank with a glass down on the top. The glass dome opens up as Snively stands up.

Snively: "Oh great. More mongrels are here to mess up my parade!"

Sonic: "It's 'rain on your parade', long nose. And who are you?"

Snively: "'Long nose'!? How dare you, you… you… blue spined rat! I am the great Snively Robotnik! The future ruler of Mobius!"

Uncle Chuck: "Huh? 'Robotnik'?"

Sonic eyes up Snively before looking confused, scratching his head.

Sonic: "So wait… Are you that girl's, Omelette, dad? No offense, but you look a little too lame to be a dad."

Snively: "Wait what? Ew, no! I'm her cousin! Er… No wait… She's just a robot! And she's not mine!"

Sonic: "Oh. Okay. Are you a robot too then?"

Snively: "Feh. No, you idiot. I am flesh and blood, perfection incarnate. I am what Mobius will bow to! What history will remember as the greatest-"

With a metallic 'BONK!', Snively is hit on the head by the leg of a destroy Egg Robo, knocking him back into his seat with swirling eyes as he was interrupted. Sonic dusts his hands as he looks at his uncle.

Uncle Chuck: "A bit rude, don't you think?"

Sonic: "Something told me we'd just be hearing the same thing said three dozen different ways. I'd rather just destroy his machine and force him to retreat."

Snively: "Ow! Why does everyone do that!? Can't a villain monologue in peace!?"

Sonic: "Maybe monologue better and I'll listen for once!"

Gritting his teeth, Snively closes the glass dome of his Egg Drillster before firing off the drill at Sonic and Uncle Chuck. Sonic rushes at the mech before bouncing on top, cracking the window a bit. Snively growls and tries to run over Sonic with his mech, but Uncle Chuck shoots the tires, causing the mech to spin out and crash into a nearby palm tree. A coconut falls out of the tree, breaking the glass dome, with a second one landing on Snively's head shortly after. The small man could only let out a string of profanities as his Egg Mobile detaches from the mech.

Snively: "You… You'll rue the day you messed with me, you stupid rodent! I am the great Snively and I shall have my revenge!"

Sonic: "Yeah yeah. If you want a rematch, just come find me so I can whoop you again!"

Snively shakes his fist in anger before turning and retreating with his remaining robots, failing to capture even a single Mobian. Sonic and Uncle Chuck smile before high fiving as Jules comes around for a landing, seeing it safe now. Once Jules lands, the two brothers exchange a heartfelt embrace as Chuck welcomes him to the island.

Uncle Chuck: "Welcome to West Island, Jules and Sonic. Sorry for the mess; we were just ambushed out of nowhere."

Jules: "Well it looks like you and Sonic handled it pretty well though."

Uncle Chuck: "I still say it should've been you down here instead of me. I'm a scientist; not a soldier."

Jules holds up his hands in defense as Charles seems to shoot him a glare, but the eldest sibling just sighs and calms down.

Uncle Chuck: "So I imagine that robot attack is related to you two showing up. So what is happening?"

Sonic: "It's a long story. So can we have some chili dogs first? I'm really hungry for one."

Uncle Chuck stares at Sonic for a moment before just letting out a chuckle, placing a hand on Sonic's shoulder.

Uncle Chuck: "Of course. On the house."

Charles then leads his family to his house, ready for a very long chat.

Meanwhile, elsewhere on the island, inside a lab of some kind, a human woman in a lab coat was staring at a computer monitor before a window appeared on it, a lynx in purple appearing on it. The window was labeled 'NICOLE'.

Nicole: "Madam. Sorry for bothering you, but…"

The computer program is met by a stern feminine voice.

Woman: "No you're not, Nicole. You bother me at the worst of times. I'm checking the vitals of our 'guests' so it better be important."

Nicole: "It is. Metropolis and Casino Night were just attacked by robots of unknown origins. Thankfully the invaders were thwarted by our defenses, but through security footage… Well… Just have a look."

Nicole then shows screenshots of the invaders, the woman recognizing the ridiculous designs. With a slam to her desk, the woman could only utter a name…

Woman: "...Ivo…"
