Melemele Island Grand Trial (Part Two)
Half an hour later, Kahuna Hala and Jimmy return to Iki Town where Ed was standing on one end of the stage while Edd, Eddy, and Sarah outside of it. Kahuna Hala walked onto the stage while Jimmy joined Edd, Eddy, and Sarah.
"Ed, are you ready for the Grand Trial?" asked Kahuna Hala.
"You bet." replied Ed. The woman acting as a referee steps onto the stage.
"This Grand Trial will be between Kahuna Hala, and the trial-goer, Ed." said the woman. "Each side will use three Pokemon. The battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. Whoever still has Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let this Grand Trial begin." The woman steps off the stage while Kahuna Hala and Ed each pull out a pokeball.
"Go, Machop!" said Kahuna Hala, throwing his Machop's pokeball and releasing it.
"Let's go, Grimer!" said Ed, throwing Grimer's pokeball and releasing him. "Use Harden!" Grimer begins to glow white and his body shines, increasing his defense.
"Machop, Focus Energy!" said Kahuna Hala. Machop becomes surrounded by a red glow.
"Poison Fang!" said Ed. Grimer's mouth glows purple and he crawls to Machop and bites it in the shoulder, hurting it, doing more damage due to Grimer's Poison Barb powering up his poison type attacks. It turned purple under Machop's eyes.
"Machop's been poisoned." said Edd.
"Machop, Revenge!" said Kahuna Hala. Machop becomes surrounded by orange energy and it releases a beam of it at Grimer, hitting it, dealing critical damage thanks to Focus Energy, but not much due to Grimer's increased defense and poison type Pokemon being resistant to fighting type moves. Machop coughs from its poisoning and loses a bit of stamina.
"Pound!" said Ed. Grimer crawls to Machop and pounds it in the head. Machop drops to its knee.
"Karate Chop!" said Kahuna Hala. Machop leaps at Grimer and does a karate chop on his head, but not doing much damage. Machop coughs and loses a little more stamina.
"Poison Fang!" said Ed. Grimer jumps at Machop and bites its abdomen. It staggered back and collapses.
"Machop is unable to battle. Grimer wins." said the woman.
"Great work, Grimer." said Ed.
"Grimer!" cheered Grimer. Kahuna Hala returns Machop to its pokeball.
"You fought well, Machop." said Kahuna Hala. He puts Machop's pokeball away and pulls out another pokeball. "Makuhita, go!" He throws Makuhita's pokeball and releases it. "Use Fake Out!" Makuhita punches his fists together and releases a shockwave onto Grimer, hitting him and making him flinch. "Now use Arm Thrust!" Makuhita runs at Grimer and strikes him repeatedly with its hands.
"Poison Fang!" said Ed. Grimer bites onto Makuhita's arm. It turned purple underneath Makuhita's eyes. Makuhita coughs from its poisoning and loses some stamina.
"Arm Thrust!" said Kahuna Hala. Makuhita runs at Grimer.
"Harden!" said Ed. Grimer glows white and his body shines. Makuhita hits Grimer repeatedly, but not doing much damage to him. Makuhita coughs from its poisoning and loses some stamina.
"Acid Spray!" said Ed. Grimer spits a large drop of purple liquid at Makuhita, hurting it, and weakens its special defense.
"Sand Attack!" said Kahuna Hala. Makuhita scoops up some sand that was on the stage and throws it at Grimer's eyes. Makuhita coughs from its poisoning and loses a little more stamina.
"Pound!" said Ed. Grimer jumps at Makuhita and pounds its head, knocking it out.
"Makuhita is unable to battle. Grimer wins." said the woman.
"You did it, Grimer." said Ed. Kahuna Hala returns Makuhita to its pokeball.
"You did well, Makuhita." said Kahuna Hala. "You're doing quite well, Ed. I can see how you came in third in the Lily of the Valley Conference." He puts Makuhita's pokeball away and pulls out Crabrawler's. "But let's see Grimer handle this. Crabrawler, go!" He throws Crabrawler's pokeball and releases it.
"Acid Spray!" said Ed. Grimer uses Acid Spray on Crabrawler, damaging it and weakening its special defense. Kahuna Hala raises his arm, revealing his Z-Ring. He then starts doing a bunch of punches, building up energy around him which flows into Crabrawler, making the Z-Power symbol appear in front of it.
"Crabrawler, use All-Out Pummeling!" said Kahuna Hala. Crabrawler unleashes a barrage of fist-shaped energy and they hit Grimer. He stumbles around and collapses onto the stage, unconscious.
"Grimer is unable to battle. Crabrawler wins." said Kahuna Hala.
"Good job, Crabrawler." said Kahuna Hala. Crabrawler raises his pincers. Ed returns Grimer to his pokeball.
"You were great, Grimer." said Ed. He puts Grimer's pokeball away and pulls out another. "Let's go, Dartrix!" He throws Dartrix's pokeball and releases him.
"I see your Rowlet evolved, Ed." said Kahuna Hala.
"Yep. Dartrix, use Razor Leaf!" said Ed. Dartrix spreads his wings and brings them forward, releasing green leaves from them and they hit Crabrawler, dealing more damage due to Crabrawler's special defense being weakened by Grimer's Acid Spray.
"Power-Up Punch!" said Kahuna Hala. Crabrawler's right pincer becomes surrounded by a golden aura and punches Dartrix, but not doing much damage due to flying types being resistant to fighting type moves. Crabrawler begins bulking up and his attack strength increases.
"Astonish!" said Ed. Dartrix flies close to Crabrawler and makes a frightening face at it, damaging it and making it flinch. "Now use Razor Leaf!" Dartrix does a point-blank Razor Leaf at Crabrawler and hits it. Crabrawler falls to the ground with swirly eyes.
"Crabrawler!" said Kahuna Hala.
"Crabrawler is unable to battle. Dartrix wins. The winner of the Grand Trial is Ed." said the woman.
"We did it, Dartrix!" cheered Ed. Dartrix spreads his wings and cheers.
"That's my big brother!" cheered Sarah.
"Way to go, lumpy." said Ed. Kahuna Hala returns Crabrawler to its pokeball.
"I'm very proud of you, Crabrawler." said Kahuna Hala. He puts Crabrawler's pokeball away and walks over to Ed. "You did a fine job raising your Pokemon, Ed."
"Thank you, sir." said Ed. Kahuna Hala gives Ed a Fightinium Z, along with pokedollars. He then takes Ed's passport and puts a stamp on it to prove Ed passed Melemele Island's Grand Trial. He turns towards Edd, and Eddy.
"So, which of you two will I be facing next?" asked Kahuna Hala.
"I believe I shall." said Edd.
"We will have our battle as soon as I get my Pokemon healed." said Kahuna Hala. He walks off the stage and begins walking to the Pokemon Center.
"I'm going to get my Pokemon healed too, guys." said Ed. He returns Dartrix to his pokeball and runs off to the Pokemon Center. Edd walks onto the stage and prepares for his Grand Trial. Half an hour later, Ed and Kahuna Hala return. Kahuna Hala goes up onto the stage, while Ed joins Eddy, Sarah, and Jimmy.
"Are you ready for your Grand Trial, Double-D?" asked Kahuna Hala.
"Yes, I am, sir." replied Edd. The woman walks to the center of the stage.
"This Grand Trial will be between Kahuna Hala, and the trial-goer, Edd." said the woman. "Each side will use three Pokemon. The battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. Whoever still has Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let this Grand Trial begin." The woman steps off the stage while Kahuna Hala and Edd each pull out a pokeball.
"Spinarak, please assist!" said Edd as he releases his Spinarak.
"Machop, I choose you!" said Kahuna Hala as he releases his Machop.
"Spinarak, use Constrict!" said Edd. Spinarak leaps at Machop, wraps all of her legs around it, and starts squeezing, hurting Machop, and lowering its speed.
"Machop, use Karate Chop!" said Kahuna Hala. Machop manages to get one of its arms free and delivers a chop to the side of Spinarak's head, not doing much damage due to her being a bug and poison type Pokemon. The blow also forces Spinarak to release her grip on the Machop.
"Spinarak, use Absorb!" said Edd. A green stream of energy comes out of Spinarak's fangs and hits Machop, draining it of stamina which is then used to heal Spinarak's small wound.
"Machop, use Revenge!" said Kahuna Hala. Machop hits Spinarak with a Revenge attack, once again, not doing much damage.
"Spinarak, use Night Shade!" said Edd. A stream of black energy comes out of Spinarak's eyes and hits Machop, doing enough damage to knock it out.
"Machop is unable to battle. Spinarak is the winner." said the woman.
"Well done, Spinarak." said Edd. Spinarak jumps for joy. Kahuna Hala returns Machop to its pokeball.
"Well done, Double-D." said Kahuna Hala as he puts Machop's pokeball away and pulls out another one. He then throws it, releasing his Makuhita. "Now let's see you handle this one."
"Spinarak, Shadow Sneak!" said Edd. Spinarak's shadow extends towards Makuhita and goes behind it. The shadow rises up out of the ground and bites down on Makuhita, then moves back to Spinarak.
"Makuhita, Arm Thrust!" said Kahuna Hala. Makuhita runs at Spinarak and starts striking her with a barrage of open palm thrusts, not doing a lot of damage.
"Spinarak, use Absorb again!" said Edd. Spinarak hits Makuhita with an Absorb attack, draining it of stamina, and healing herself. Makuhita struggles to stay on its feet.
"Hurry, Makuhita. Use Sand Attack!" said Kahuna Hala. Makuhita flings sand towards Spinarak.
"Spinarak, dodge and use Poison Sting!" said Edd. Spinarak jumps up to avoid the Sand Attack and releases a barrage of small needles from her mouth, hitting Makuhita, and poisoning it also. Makuhita suddenly coughs and passes out.
"Makuhita is unable to battle. Spinarak is the winner." said the woman.
"Way to go, Double-D!" cheered Sarah.
"Just one more to go!" said Eddy. Kahuna Hala returns his Makuhita to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Makuhita." said Kahuna Hala. He then puts Makuhita's pokeball away and pulls out his last one. "Prepare yourself for my strongest Pokemon." He then throws the pokeball, releasing his Crabrawler.
"Spinarak, use Infestation!" said Edd. A swarm of really small insects comes out of Spinarak, crawls over to Crabrawler, and covers parts of its body, doing some damage. Kahuna Hala holds out his Z-Power Ring and starts doing punches in the air, building up energy, which is then channeled into Crabrawler, making the Z-Power symbol appear in front of it.
"All right, Crabrawler! Use All-Out Pummeling!" said Kahuna Hala. Crabrawler then uses All-Out Pummeling on Spinarak, doing some damage, but not enough to knock her out. All of a sudden, the Infestation move takes away some of Crabrawler's stamina.
"I believe I will take the opportunity to try a Z-Move myself." said Edd as he holds out his Z-Power Ring, surprising Kahuna Hala. Edd then does the sequence of poses that Captain Ilmia showed him and the others back at Verdant Cavern, channeling energy into Spinarak, making the Z-Power symbol appear in front of her.
"Do it, Double-D!" said Sarah.
"Spinarak! Use Breakneck Blitz!" said Edd. Spinarak starts skittering at Crabrawler at incredible speed and slams into it with such force it's sent flying off the stage and crashes to the ground, unconscious.
"Crabrawler is unable to battle. Spinarak is the winner. That means the winner of the Grand Trial is the trial-goer, Edd." said the woman.
"Success!" cheered Edd. Spinarak skitters to Edd and jumps into his chest and nuzzles it. "You were magnificent, Spinarak." Spinarak chirps happily. Kahuna Hala returns Crabrawler to its pokeball.
"You fought bravely, Crabrawler." said Kahuna Hala. He then walks over to Edd. "You have defeated me, young one; and your mastery of the Z-Move in such a short amount of time is remarkable."
"Thank you, sir." said Edd. He then hands his passport to Kahuna Hala, who then puts a stamp on it. Kahuna Hala then hands Edd a Fightinium Z-Crystal, along with pokedollars. Kahuna Hala then looks at Eddy.
"I do believe that you are next, young one." said Kahuna Hala.
"You know it." said Eddy.
"I will now be against the Lily of the Valley Conference champion." said Kahuna Hala. "I can imagine that you will be my toughest challenge today. Not that your companions' strengths are not impressive."
"I'm going to have my Spinarak treated at the Pokemon Center, Eddy. I'll be back to watch your battle." said Edd. He and Kahuna Hala head to Hau'oli City to get their Pokemon healed, while Eddy hops onto the stage to plan his strategies for his Grand Trial. Half an hour later, Kahuna Hala and Edd return. Kahuna Hala climbs up onto the stage, while Edd joins his friends.
"Are you ready, Eddy?" asked Kahuna Hala.
"You bet I am." said Eddy. The woman who officiated the other matches steps onto the stage.
"This Grand Trial will be between Kahuna Hala, and the trial-goer, Eddy." said the woman. "Each side will use three Pokemon. The battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. Whoever still has Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let this Grand Trial begin." The woman steps off the stage while Kahuna Hala and Eddy each pull out a pokeball.
"Come on out, Noibat!" said Eddy as he throws Noibat's pokeball and releases her from it.
"Machop, I choose you!" said Kahuna Hala as he releases his Machop from its pokeball.
"Noibat, use Screech!" said Eddy. Noibat lets out a high-pitched sound wave which penetrates and weakens Machop's body, along with its defense.
"Machop, use Karate Chop!" said Kahuna Hala. Machop runs at Noibat and delivers a strong chop to her face.
"Oh yeah?" replied Eddy. "Noibat, use Wing Attack!" Noibat flies at Machop and delivers a powerful strike with one of her wings to its face, doing super effective damage and more thanks to Machop's weakened defense. Machop falls to the ground unconscious.
"Machop is unable to battle. Noibat is the winner." said the woman.
"Sweet!" said Eddy. Noibat smiles with joy.
"Good job, Eddy!" said Ed.
"Splendid!" said Edd. Kahuna Hala returns Machop to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Machop." said Kahuna Hala. He puts Machop's pokeball away and pulls out another one, then throws it, releasing his Makuhita. "Makuhita, use Fake Out!" Makuhita runs at Noibat and slaps its hands together in front of Noibat's face, startling her and making her fall to the ground.
"Noibat, use Supersonic!" said Eddy. Noibat releases another high-pitched sound wave at Makuhita, messing up its senses, and confuses it.
"Makuhita, use Arm Thrust!" said Kahuna Hala. Makuhita tried to use Arm Thrust, but confusion kicks in, making it hurt itself.
"Now use Bite!" said Eddy. Noibat flies at Makuhita and bites its arm, not doing much damage due to dark type move not being effective against fighting types, but it does cause Makuhita to flinch. "Now use Absorb!" Noibat hits Makuhita with an Absorb attack, draining it of some of its stamina, and healing herself.
"Makuhita, use Sand Attack!" said Kahuna Hala. Makuhita flings sand into Noibat's eyes, lowering her accuracy.
"Noibat, try using Gust!" said Eddy. Noibat flaps her wings, releasing a strong gust of wind which manages to hit Makuhita, doing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Makuhita is unable to battle. Noibat is the winner." said the woman.
"Yes!" said Eddy as he does a fist pump. "Two down, one to go!" Kahuna Hala returns Makuhita to its pokeball and puts it in his shorts pocket.
"You and your friends are strong trainers." said Kahuna Hala. "You, Ed, and Double-D have truly earned your victories at the Lily of the Valley Conference."
"You know it." said Eddy. Kahuna Hala nods as he pulls out his last pokeball.
"Now let's see how well you do against Crabrawler!" said Kahuna Hala as he throws Crabrawler's pokeball, releasing it.
"Noibat, use Screech!" said Eddy. Noibat releases another Screech attack which weakens Crabrawler's defense. Kahuna Hala then lifts his arm that had his Z-Power Ring on his wrist. Eddy prepares himself for what was gonna happen next. Kahuna Hala does a bunch of punches, building up energy, and channels it into Crabrawler, making the Z-Power symbol appear in front of it.
"Now, Crabrawler! Use All-Out Pummeling!" said Kahuna Hala. Crabrawler then unleashes a barrage of fist-shaped energy blasts at Noibat, hitting her, and not doing a lot of damage. Noibat struggled to stay flying.
"Don't give up, Noibat!" said Jimmy.
"Keep fighting!" said Sarah. Eddy grins as he raises his arm that had his Z-Power Ring on it.
"Now it's my turn!" said Eddy. He does the series of poses that Captain Ilmia showed him, channeling energy into Noibat, making the Z-Power symbol appear. "Try this on for size! Noibat, use Breakneck Blitz!" Noibat flies at Crabrawler at high speed and slams into it, and thanks to Crabrawler's weakened defense, it was enough to knock it out.
"Crabrawler is unable to battle. Noibat is the winner. That means the winner of the Grand Trial is the trial-goer, Eddy." said the woman.
"We win!" cheered Eddy. Noibat flies into Eddy's arms and nuzzles him. His friends run up onto the stage to congratulate him.
"You did it, Eddy!" said Ed as he hugs Eddy.
"You were incredible!" said Edd.
"Way to go, Eddy!" said Sarah.
"You won!" said Jimmy.
"Was there ever any doubt?" asked Eddy. Kahuna Hala returns Crabrawler to its pokeball.
"You did well, Crabrawler." said Kahuna Hala. He puts Crabrawler's pokeball away and walks over to Eddy. "You are truly a strong trainer, Eddy."
"You know it." said Eddy. He then hands Kahuna Hala his passport who then puts a stamp on it. After giving Eddy back his passport, Kahuna Hala pulls out a Fightinium Z-Crystal, along with some pokedollars, and hands them to Eddy. Just then, a loud squawk was heard from all around them, surprising everyone.
"It seems that Tapu Koko enjoyed your battles and has given you five his blessing." said Kahuna Hala. Ten minutes later at the Pokemon Center, while Eddy's Noibat was getting treated, the group was celebrating their victories with a big dinner.
"Here's to our completion of this island's Grand Trial, everyone." said Edd.
"One down, three to go." said Eddy.
"I can't wait to go to the next island and see some more new Pokemon." said Ed.
"Me, too." said Sarah.
"I'm so excited." said Jimmy. After everyone ate, they went to their room, showered (except for Ed), and went to sleep.
Meanwhile, it was nighttime at the Lemon Brook Juvenile Detention Center. In the Kanker's cell, three guards were gathered around a hole that was dug onto the floor of the cell. Alarms were blaring, and searchlights were sweeping over the area outside the center's walls. Outside the fence that surrounded the facility, a dirty May Kanker bursts out of the ground, and begins coughing up dirt and rocks. She was suddenly pushed out of the hole by Lee Kanker, who was followed by Marie Kanker.
"Finally, we're out!" said Lee.
"What do we do now?!" asked May.
"We go back home to Peach Creek and find out what our boyfriends are up to." replied Lee. They suddenly hear the sound of barking dogs approaching.
"Let's get out of here!" said Marie. The Kankers run through tall grass to elude their pursuers and disappear into the night.
