Paniola Town and Paniola Ranch
"Grimer, Poison Fang!" said Ed. Ed's Grimer jumps at another trainer's Cutiefly while his mouth was glowing purple and bites onto Cutiefly, dealing super effective damage to it and knocking it out.
"It appears you are victorious, Ed." said Edd.
"Way to go, big brother." said Sarah. Cutiefly's trainer returned Cutiefly to its pokeball and walks over to Ed.
"I knew I shouldn't have challenged one of the Eds to a Pokemon battle." said Cutiefly's trainer. After giving Ed pokedollars and the Eds giving him their autographs, the Eds, Sarah, and Jimmy continued travelling up Route 4. They took the time to train their Pokemon as they did and getting stronger. Ed's Grimer learned Minimize and his Roggenrola learned Mud-Slap and Iron Defense.
Edd's Trumbeak learned Roost and his Magnemite learned Spark.
Eddy's Grubbin learned Acrobatics, and his Noibat learned Agility.
Sarah's Chansey learned Fling, her Ledian learned Silver Wind, her Petilil learned Synthesis and Magical Leaf, and her Carbink learned Reflect.
Jimmy was determined to train his Pokemon after his encounter with Nathan earlier. His Lucario learned Power-Up Punch, and his Pikachu learned Thunder Wave. Their new Eevees learned Bite and Swift. During the training, Grubbin began to glow.
"Grubbin's evolving!" said Eddy. The group gathers around and saw Grubbin beginning to change. When the glowing stopped, Grubbin was now green and cube-shaped, a pair of blue screens were covering his eyes, and had a rectangular mouth between his pincers that appeared to open sideways. Edd takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at the newly evolved Grubbin.
"Charjabug, the Battery Pokemon and the evolved form of Grubbin. Its stout shell provides excellent defense from attacks. It uses electricity on persistent opponents." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"And according to this, Eddy, Charjabug is now part bug and part electric type, he learned the move, Charge, and now has the Battery ability, which powers up his ally Pokemon's special attack strength." said Edd.
"Sweet." said Eddy. The group return all their Pokemon to their pokeballs and continued walking up Route 4 until they reached Paniola Town. Edd looks up to see it was getting dark out.
"Perhaps we should spend the night here in the Pokemon Center." said Edd.
"Sure. I'm getting hungry anyway." said Eddy.
"Me too." said Sarah. The group looked around town for the Pokemon Center until they found one. After giving the nurse their Pokemon, they went to the cafeteria where they had dinner. Later in the boys shower area, Edd, Eddy, and Jimmy walked out of seperate shower stalls with towels around their waists.
"Nothing like an invigorating shower." said Edd.
"You got that right, pal." said Eddy. Another shower stall door opened and to Edd, Eddy, and Jimmy's surprise, Ed walks out of it with a towel around his waist.
"Ed! Did you...shower?!" asked Edd in a shocked tone.
"Yep." replied Ed. Eddy walks to Ed and puts a hand on his forehead.
"He feels warm, but that's probably from the shower." said Eddy.
"I know why Ed showered." said Jimmy with a smirk. The Eds looked at him. "I saw how you were looking at Mallow, like this." Jimmy imitates the loving smile Ed had when he was looking at Mallow.
"Mallow, where?" asked Ed, looking around, blushing. Edd and Eddy grinned at Ed.
"Ed. Do you...like Mallow?" asked Edd. Ed looks away and nods.
"Ed, you dog, you." said Eddy. After they brushed their teeth, even Ed, the group went to their room and went to sleep. The next morning, the group went to the cafeteria and had breakfast. After that, they picked up their Pokemon from the nurse and left the Pokemon Center. They travelled up north. As they did, they hear some sort of commotion, they turned to see two Team Skull members, a male and a female bothering a woman and a white, fox-like Pokemon with several tails. Edd takes the Rotom Pokedex out of his backpack and points it at the Pokemon.
"Vulpix, the Fox Pokemon. They live together in a skulk, helping one another. Before eating their prey, they freeze it solid with their –58 degree Fahrenheit breath." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Yo, yo, Vulpix! Gimme that bottle cap!" exclaimed the male Team Skull member, making the Vulpix whimper.
"Please, stop." said the woman. Jimmy runs over to them while the Eds and Sarah follow.
"You leave that cute Pokemon alone you bullies." said Jimmy. The Team Skull members turn around.
"Mind your own business, pipsqueak." said the male. "What's this Pokemon need a nice Bottle Cap for?" The woman looks at the group.
"Excuse me but can any of you could help me?" asked the woman. Jimmy runs around Team Skull until he was between them and the woman.
"I'll help you, ma'am." said Jimmy. The two Team Skull members look at each other and begin laughing.
"This little twerp thinks he can take on Team Skull?!" said the female, laughing. The male member steps forward.
"I'll teach this little runt a lesson about messing with Team Skull." said the male as he pulls out a pokeball. The Eds, Sarah, the woman, her Vulpix, and the female Team Skull member walk away to give them more battling room. Jimmy and the male Team Skull member stood several feet from each other.
"Rattata, go!" said the male Team Skull member, throwing a pokeball and releasing a Rattata. "Try to beat this, kid." Jimmy pulls a pokeball out of his pocket.
"Go, Butterfree!" said Jimmy, throwing Butterfree's pokeball and releasing him.
"Rattata, Quick Attack!" said the Team Skull male. Rattata runs at Butterfree with incredible speed and rams it, knocking him back. "Just so you know, my Rattata has the Hustle ability."
"Oh my. That increases the strength of Rattata's physical attacks." said Edd.
"We won't let that stop us, right, Butterfree?" said Jimmy. Butterfree nods in response. "Butterfree, Silver Wind!" Butterfree flaps his wings and releases a silvery wind with silver blades of energy, and they hit Rattata, dealing super effective damage and knocking it out.
"No way!" exclaimed the Team Skull male.
"We did it, Butterfree!" said Jimmy.
"Way to go, Jimmy!" said Ed.
"You showed that meanie who's boss!" said Sarah. The Team Skull member returned Rattata to its pokeball and glared at the woman.
"It's your fault! You should've just handed over that bottle cap!" exclaimed the male. He walked towards Vulpix, but the Eds, Sarah, and Jimmy walked between them, stopping the Team Skull member. He scoffs and looks at Vulpix. "Don't expect people to help you next time, Vulpix." The Team Skull members run away. Edd turns towards the woman.
"Are you okay, ma'am?" asked Edd.
"Yes. Thank you very much." said the woman.
"What's the big deal over a lousy bottle cap?" asked Sarah. The woman reaches into her pocket and pulls out a silver bottle cap that has the image of a crown on it.
"It's just that you can sell this at a PokeMart for 2,500 pokedollars." explained the woman.
"Really?!" asked Eddy. The woman holds out the bottle cap towards Jimmy.
"I think you should have this, young man for helping my Vulpix." said the woman.
"Really? Thanks." said Jimmy as he takes the bottle cap. After Jimmy returns Butterfree to his pokeball, the group left Paniola Town and entered Paniola Ranch. As they looked around, they saw several Tauroses and cow-like Pokemon.
"What are those Pokemon?" asked Sarah, pointing at one of the cow-like Pokemon. Edd takes the Rotom Pokedex out of his backpack and points it at the cow-like Pokemon.
"Miltank, the Milk Cow Pokemon. Its milk is delicious and chock-full of nutrients. However, if you drink too much, it could make your stomach hurt, so be careful." said the Rotom Pokedex. A man in farming attire walks over to them.
"Judging by those amulets, you kids are trial goers." said the farmer.
"You bet." said Ed.
"You know, Mallow, the trial captain is here right now." said the farmer.
"Really?!" said Ed, smiling.
"Yes, she's over there." said the farmer, pointing. Ed looks to where he was pointing to see Mallow with a Miltank. He smiles lovingly at her and he, along with Edd, Eddy, Sarah, and Jimmy walk over to where she is. Mallow hears the group approaching. She turns to see them and waves at them, smiling, which makes Ed blush.
"Hello, Mallow." said Ed.
"Hi, Ed." replied Mallow. "Say, do any of you have a Ride Pager?" Ed takes the Ride Pager out of his pocket.
"Yep." said Ed.
"I would like to do you a favor." said Mallow. "I can register another Ride Pokemon into it."
"That would be so cool." said Ed. He gives Mallow the Ride Pager and she begins working on it. A minute later, Mallow holds out the Ride Pager.
"There. Now you can call on Stoutland." said Mallow. "They can sniff out items buried in the ground."
"Cool." said Ed. Before he can take the Ride Pager, a Miltank bumps into Mallow, causing her to drop the Ride Pager to the ground. Fortunately, it didn't break. Ed and Mallow both reach down to pick it up. Mallow's hand lands on the Ride Pager first, leading to Ed's hand landing on Mallow's. Ed and Mallow looked at each other's eyes for several seconds until they looked away, blushing with Mallow holding the Ride Pager.
"Uh, here you go, Ed." said Mallow, holding out the Ride Pager. Ed takes the Ride Pager.
"Thank you, Mallow." said Ed.
"Let's get going, Ed." said Eddy. "We have trials to get to." Ed puts the Ride Pager back into his pocket and walks away while waving at Mallow while she waves at him back. The group continues walking through Paniola Ranch while Ed was looking at his hand that touched Mallow's.
