Onward to Brooklet Hill
The Eds, Sarah, and Jimmy continue travelling through Paniola Ranch on their way to Brooklet Hill.
"So, Ed. What's this new Ride Pokemon like?" asked Eddy. Ed pulls the Ride Pager out of his pocket and looks at the small monitor that listed all the Ride Pokemon. Besides the Tauros, there was now a dog-like Pokemon on it. Ed pushes the image of the dog-like Pokemon and the pokeball on the Ride Pager flashed. Ed pulls out the pokeball and opens it, releasing a big, dog-like Pokemon that had a light purple and black saddle with black handlebars mounted to it. Edd takes out the Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Stoutland, the Big Hearted Pokemon. Its fur is long and thick. A long time ago in cold regions, every household kept a Stoutland." said the Rotom Phone.
"Let's see what this big guy can do." said Eddy.
"Okay." said Ed. He climbs onto the saddle on Stoutland.
"Can I ride with you, Ed?" asked Sarah.
"Sure, baby sister." said Ed. He pulls Sarah up onto the saddle where she sat behind Ed. Stoutland begins sniffing the ground.
"What's it looking for?" asked Sarah.
"If I recall, Mallow said Stoutland can find items hidden in the ground." replied Edd. Stoutland continued sniffing the ground as Ed was riding it until it stopped near a bale of hay begin sniffing the ground rapidly.
"I think Stoutland found something." said Jimmy. Eddy walks to where Stoutland was sniffing and begins digging through the ground. He stops when he finds a green spray bottle with a pokeball symbol on it.
"What's this?" asked Eddy.
"I think that's called a Repel." replied Edd. "It's said to help keep wild Pokemon away from us, for a limited time of course."
"That's stupid. How can we catch Pokemon if they stay away from us?" asked Eddy. "I'm just going to sell this for some cash."
"As you wish, Eddy." said Edd. The group continue travelling while Stoutland begins sniffing the ground. Ed suddenly hears rustling coming from the tall wheat in the field. He jumps off Stoutland in time to see a sheep-like Pokemon walking out of the wheat.
"Woolly Bully!" said Ed, excitedly. Edd pulls out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Mareep, the Wool Pokemon. Rubbing its fleece generates electricity. You'll want to pet it because it's cute, but if you use your bare hand, you'll get a painful shock." said the Rotom Phone.
"I'm going to catch this Pokemon!" said Ed, pulling a pokeball out of his pocket. "Dartrix, come out!" He throws Dartrix's pokeball and releases him. "Okay, Dartrix, use Leafage!" Dartrix's wings glow green and he spreads them, releasing glowing green leaves from his body and they hit Mareep, knocking it back. Mareep releases yellow electricity from its body and it hits Dartrix.
"Due to Dartrix being part flying, electric type moves with have a moderate effect on him." said Edd.
"Razor Leaf!" said Ed. Dartrix spreads his wings, releasing glowing orange darts from them and they hit Mareep. Ed pulls out an empty pokeball and throws it at Mareep. It hits Mareep and sucks it in. After it wiggled around a few time, it clicks, indicating a successful capture. Ed walks to Mareep's pokeball and picks it up. "I caught a Mareep, guys."
"Good work, Ed." said Edd. Mareep's pokeball suddenly glows and vanishes.
"Where did Mareep go, you guys?" asked Ed.
"Probably transported to a storage area." replied Edd. "Don't forget, Ed. Trainers can only have six Pokemon on them." Ed looks down sadly. "Don't worry, Ed. If you want Mareep, you can transfer one of the Pokemon you have with you into storage and put Mareep in its place. We need to go to a Pokemon Center to do it."
"Okay, Double D." said Ed. Edd uses the Rotom Phone to learn more about Ed's new Mareep.
"This says your Mareep is an electric type, it's a girl, she knows Tackle, Growl, Thunder Wave, Thunder Shock, and Cotton Spore." said Edd. "She has the Static ability also."
"Come on, let's get going." said Eddy. Ed climbs back onto Stoutland and the gang continue travelling through Paniola Ranch. They also trained their Pokemon, becoming stronger as they did. Ed's Dartrix learned Pluck, Roggenrola learned Smackdown, and his Eevee learned Bite and Swift.
Edd's Brionne learned Bubble Beam, Trumbeak learned Fury Attack, his Spinarak learned Fury Swipes, his Magnemite learned Mirror Shot, and like Ed's Eevee, his also learned Bite and Swift. During the training, Spinarak began to glow.
"Fellow! My Spinarak's evolving!" said Edd. They all watched as Spinarak began to grow. When the glowing stopped, Spinarak was bigger, she was orange instead of green, her legs were longer and were yellow and purple striped. Edd pulls out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at his newly evolved Spinarak.
"Ariados, the Long Leg Pokemon and the evolved form of Spinarak. It spews threads from its mouth to catch its prey. When night falls, it leaves its web to go hunt aggressively." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Oh, happy day. Congratulations, Ariados." said Edd. Ariados nods in response.
Eddy's Torracat learned Bite, his Noitbat learned Air Cutter, and his Eevee also learned Bite and Swift.
Sarah's Chansey learned Take Down, her Ledian learned Comet Punch, Mrs. Mime learned Light Screen and Reflect, her Petilil learned Stun Spore, her Carbink learned Stealth Rock, and her Eevee learned Bite and Swift.
Jimmy's Lucario learned Calm Mind, Butterfree learned Supersonic, his Pikachu learned Feint and Double Team, his Rockruff learned Rock Tomb, and his Eevee learned Bite and Swift just like the others did.
Edd's Trumbeak found a Super Potion and a Great Ball with his Pickup ability while Eddy's Meowth found an Antidote and a yellow mushroom with two orange lines going around it.
"What this?" asked Eddy, holding the mushroom.
"Eddy, that's a Balm Mushroom!" replied Edd.
"So?" asked Eddy.
"You can sell that at a PokeMart for 7,500 pokedollars." replied Edd. A big smile appeared on Eddy's face and he begins shaking.
Ed was also finding stuff with Stoutland. He found a light purple spray bottle and a big mushroom.
"What are these, Double D?" asked Ed.
"That spray bottle is a Super Repel, which is stronger than the Repel Eddy found." said Edd.
"Just sell it, Ed." said Eddy.
"And that's a Big Mushroom." said Edd, pointing at the mushroom Ed found. "You can sell that for 2,500 pokedollars."
"Cool." said Ed. The group soon arrived at Route 5. As they were travelling, a little boy approached them.
"Excuse me but are either of you trying to compete in that Junior's Division?" asked the boy, pointing at Sarah and Jimmy.
"Yeah, why?" asked Jimmy.
"I was wondering if I can have a Pokemon with one of you so I can see if I'm ready for it." replied the boy.
"I'll battle you." said Sarah, stepping forward.
"Okay, thanks." said the boy. Sarah and the boy stood several feet from each other while the Eds and Jimmy stood near a large rock and watched. Sarah pulls out a pokeball while the boy pulls out a Net Ball.
"So how many Pokemon are we using?" asked Sarah.
"How about just one?" asked the boy.
"Sounds fine to me." replied Sarah. "Carbink, go!" She throws Carbink's pokeball and releases it.
"Go, Paras!" said the boy, throwing his Net Ball and releasing an orange insect-like Pokemon with mushrooms on its back.
"What is that?" asked Edd. He takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at the new Pokemon.
"Paras, the Mushroom Pokemon. The mushrooms, known as tochukaso, are controlling the bug. Even if the bug bugs the mushrooms, they tell it to bug off." said the Rotom Pokedex. Carbink and Paras face each other.
"Carbink, Rock Throw!" said Sarah. Carbink releases rocks from its body and they hit Paras, dealing super effective damage due to rock type moves being strong against bug type Pokemon.
"Paras, Stun Spore!" said the boy. Paras releases orange powder from the mushrooms on its back and onto Carbink, paralyzing it.
"Try using Sharpen!" said Sarah. Carbink fights through its paralysis and glows blue. It becomes surrounded by a light blue mist and it forms into a blue, transparent crystal around Carbink, powering up its attack.
"Use Absorb!" said the boy. Paras fires a beam of red energy from the claw on its left front leg and it hits Carbink, dealing super effective damage due to grass type moves being strong against rock type Pokemon and draining some of Carbink's energy and healing some of Paras' wounds.
"Use Smackdown!" said Sarah. Carbink once again fights through its paralysis and launches a golden ball of energy from its body and it hits Paras, dealing a massive amount of damage to it due to Carbink's strength being increased by Sharpen. Paras falls back and hits the ground with swirly eyes.
"Carbink is the winner." said Edd.
"You did it, Carbink!" cheered Sarah. The boy returns Paras to its Net Ball.
"Don't worry, Paras. We'll just keep on training." said the boy. He puts Paras' Net Ball away and walks over to Sarah. "Your Carbink is tough."
"You bet it is." replied Sarah. The boy gives Sarah pokedollars. He then reaches into his backpack and pulls out a magazine that had the Eds on the podiums they were on at the Lily of the Valley Conference on the cover and a pen and runs over to the Eds.
"Before I go, can I have your autographs?" asked the boy.
"Sure thing." replied Eddy. After the Eds signed the boy's magazine, he puts it and his pen back into his backpack and walks away. After Sarah returned Carbink to its pokeball, the group continue to travel up Route 5 until they reached a Pokemon Center. They gave the nurse their Pokemon. Ed, Eddy, and Jimmy took the time to sell some of the items they found. Ed recieved 2,500 pokedollars for the Big Mushroom and 350 pokedollars for the Super Repel, Eddy recieved 7,500 pokedollars for his Balm Mushroom and 200 pokedollars for the regular Repel, and Jimmy recieved 2,500 for the Bottle Cap. The group went to the cafeteria for lunch. While they were eating, Eddy turns to Edd.
"So how long is it until we reach Brooklet Hill, Double D?" asked Eddy.
"It's actually closeby." replied Edd.
"Sweet." replied Eddy.
"So what do you think the Brooklet Hill trial is like?" asked Jimmy.
"I'm not certain." said Edd. "We'll just have to see when we get there."
"Okay." said Jimmy. After they were finished eating, Ed and Edd walked to the Pokemon Center's PC.
"This is the Pokemon Center's PC, Ed." said Edd. "Trainers use these to tranfer their Pokemon. So which of the Pokemon you have on you do you want to send to storage and put Mareep in its place?" After a minute of thinking, Ed decides to transfer his Furfrou. Soon, Furfrou was transferred to storage and Mareep was sent in her place. After the group picked up their Pokemon, they exited the Pokemon Center. They travelled towards Brooklet Hill where they plan on facing the trial there so they'll be one step closer to competing in the Alola League and the Junior's Division.
