The Journey Begins
After Kevin, Rolf, and Jonny bought ten pokeballs for each of themselves along with five potions each from the stores in Aquacorde Town, they headed to the northern exit.
"Well guys, this is it." said Kevin.
"Right on! Our journey starts now!" said Jonny.
"Yes. Rolf is also eager to get started." said Rolf. They leave the town and start travelling down Route 2.
"So, what do we do first?" asked Jonny.
"Well, we want to make our Pokemon stronger for the Kalos League, right?" asked Kevin.
"How do we do that, Kevin?" replied Rolf.
"Well, the Eds say that Pokemon get stronger by battling other Pokemon." said Kevin.
"So, we just need to find some Pokemon to battle?" asked Jonny.
"Yeah. And we also need to catch some Pokemon for our teams and train them, too." said Kevin.
"Well let's start looking." said Jonny.
"Right on, man." said Kevin. Before they could take three steps, they hear some rustling coming from some nearby grass. They look over and see a brown, rabbitlike Pokemon hop out.
"Let Rolf use the pokedex, Kevin." said Rolf.
"Here you go, dude." said Kevin as he hands Rolf the pokedex, who then points it at the Pokemon.
"Bunnelby, the Digging Pokemon. It has ears like shovels. Digging holes strengthens its ears so much that they can sever thick roots effortlessly." said the pokedex.
"Ahhh. Such a Pokemon would be great to help Rolf make new gardens." said Rolf.
"Then catch it, dude." said Kevin.
"Yeah, Rolf!" said Jonny.
"Yes. Rolf will catch this Pokemon." said Rolf as he pulls out his Fennekin's pokeball. "Fennekin; help Rolf." Rolf then throws Fennekin's pokeball and releases her from it. Fennekin and the Bunnelby stare each other down.
"Right on, Rolf! Your first Pokemon battle!" said Jonny with excitement.
"You got this, dude!" cheered Kevin.
"Yes. Fennekin, use Tail Whip!" said Rolf. Fennekin turns around and wags her tail in Bunnelby's face, lowering its defense.
"What does Tail Whip do again?" asked Jonny.
"I think it weakens the defense of the Pokemon it's used on, dude." said Kevin. Bunnelby then starts hopping around quickly and seemed to get faster as it does. It then runs at Fennekin and slams into her.
"Was that Tackle?" asked Jonny.
"Yeah, dude." said Kevin.
"So, this Bunnelby wants to fight? Rolf will give it a fight. Fennekin, use Scratch!" yells Rolf. Fennekin runs at Bunnelby and scratches it across its chest, doing more damage thanks to its defense being weakened by Tail Whip earlier.
"Right on, Rolf!" cheered Jonny. The Bunnelby glares at Fennekin and its eyes glow, making Fennekin slump.
"Keep it up, man!" said Kevin.
"Yes! Fennekin, use Ember!" said Rolf. Fennekin opens her mouth and breathes out small bits of fire which hit Bunnelby, damaging it. Parts of its body suddenly caught fire.
"I think Bunnelby has that Burn status condition that Eddy talked about." said Jonny.
"Yeah. Eddy said that it makes the Pokemon with it take damage now and then, along with lowering the Pokemon's attack." said Kevin.
"You hear that, Rolf?" asked Jonny.
"Yes, Jonny the Wood Boy!" said Rolf. Seeing that Bunnelby was struggling to stay standing, Rolf then pulls an empty pokeball out of his pocket and throws it at Bunnelby, hitting it and sucking it in. After a few seconds, the pokeball clicks, indicating a successful capture. Rolf runs over and picks it up. "Rolf has captured a Bunnelby!" Kevin and Jonny run over to Rolf to congratulate him.
"Great work, dude!" said Kevin.
"Your first capture!" said Jonny.
"Yes. Rolf is pleased." said Rolf. He then looks at the pokedex which then brings up Bunnelby's information. "Rolf's new Bunnelby is a boy, he knows Tackle, Agility, and Leer; and he has the Pickup ability."
"What's that ability do?" asked Jonny.
"This says that a Pokemon with the ability will sometimes pick up an item after a battle." said Rolf.
"So, it can pick up stuff we can use?" asked Kevin.
"Rolf believes so." said Rolf.
"That can save us money if we can find items instead of having to pay for them." said Jonny.
"So, what now?" asked Kevin.
"Rolf will go back to town to the healer there and get Bunnelby's burn healed." said Rolf.
"Good call, dude." said Kevin. Rolf gives Jonny the pokedex and turns around and runs back to Aquacorde Town. Just then, Jonny hears rustling from some tall grass near him. He looks to see a furry, brown and cream striped racoon-like Pokemon walking out of the grass.
"What's that?" asked Jonny. He points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Zigzagoon, the Tiny Racoon Pokemon. A Pokemon with abundant curiosity. It shows an interest in everything, so it always zigzags." said the pokedex. Jonny looks at Plank.
"What do you mean this sounds like my kind of Pokemon, Plank?" asked Jonny. "Because it's very curious just like me? Well, okay Plank." He takes Chespin's pokeball out of his pocket. "Let's go, Chespin!" He throws Chespin's pokeball and releases him. "Okay Chespin, use Tackle!" Chespin runs at Zigzagoon and rams it, knocking it back. Zigzagoon charges at Chespin and rams him back. "Oh yeah?! Chespin, use Vine Whip!" Two light green vines come out of each side of Chespin's head, and they hit Zigzagoon, knocking it to the ground. Jonny quickly takes an empty pokeball out of his pocket, enlarges it, and throws it at Zigzagoon, hitting it and sucking it in. It wiggles around for a few seconds until it stops and clicks, indicating Zigzagoon's capture. Jonny runs over to Zigzagoon's pokeball and picks it up. "Check it out, Kevin! I caught a Zigzagoon!"
"Awesome work, man." said Kevin. Jonny looks at the pokedex and brings up his Zigzagoon's information.
"Okay. My Zigzagoon is a boy, he knows Tackle and Growl, and he has the Pickup ability too." said Jonny.
"Radical. That means we can get even more free stuff with two Pokemon with that ability with us." said Kevin. Jonny sees something moving in the grass behind Kevin.
"What's that?" asked Jonny. Kevin turns around and sees a small birdlike Pokemon with a grayish-blue body and orange head, hop out of the grass. Kevin grabs the pokedex from Jonny and points it at the Pokemon.
"Fletchling, the Tiny Robin Pokemon. Despite the beauty of its lilting voice, it's merciless to intruders that enter its territory." said the pokedex.
"So, it doesn't like others being on its turf? I can respect that." said Kevin as he put the pokedex back into his pocket and pulls out his Froakie's pokeball. "Froakie, you're up, man." Kevin throws Froakie's pokeball, releasing him from it.
"Froakie!" says Froakie upon being released. He then looks at Fletchling who's staring back at him.
"Okay, dude! Use Growl!" said Kevin. Froakie lets out a growl that makes Fletchling tremble and lowering its defense. Fletchling flies at Froakie and slams into him, not doing much damage thanks to Froakie's Growl. "Now use Pound!" Froakie jumps at Fletchling and slams his hands onto its head. Fletchling growls at Froakie, making his defense lower. "Don't growl at my little dude, man! Froakie, use Bubble!" Froakie breathes out a bunch of bubbles at Fletchling which do small explosions on contact, damaging it, and seems to slow it down a little. Kevin quickly pulls out an empty pokeball from his pocket and throws it at Fletchling, hitting it and sucking it in. It wiggles for a few moments before clicking, indicating a successful capture.
"You did it, Kevin!" cheered Jonny as Kevin runs over and picks up his new Fletchling's pokeball.
"You got that right, Jonny boy!" said Kevin. He takes the pokedex out of his pocket and uses it to look up his new Fletchling's information. "This says my new Fletchling's a dude, he knows Tackle, and Growl; and he has the Big Pecks ability which stops his defense from being lowered."
"Awesome!" said Jonny. A few minutes later, Rolf returns from Aquacorde Town.
"How's your new Bunnelby doing, man?" asked Kevin.
"Rolf's Bunnelby is healed." said Rolf.
"Hey, Rolf. Me and Kevin caught new Pokemon!" said Jonny.
"What did you catch?" asked Rolf. Jonny released his new Zigzagoon from his pokeball while Kevin released his new Fletchling. Rolf noticed they both looked exhausted. "Rolf thinks you two should bring your Pokemon to the healer back at Aquacorde Town."
"Good thinking, Rolf." said Jonny. Jonny and Kevin returned their new Pokemon to their pokeballs and walked over to Aquacorde Town. Almost ten minutes later, Jonny and Kevin returned to Route 2 where Rolf was waiting for them.
"So, what do we do now?" asked Rolf.
"Let's train our Pokemon for a while." said Kevin. They do so for a while with their Pokemon getting stronger. Kevin's Froakie and Fletchling learned Quick Attack as did Rolf's Bunnelby. Jonny's Chespin learned Rollout and his Zigzagoon learned Tail Whip. Thanks to Bunnelby and Zigzagoon's Pickup abilities, Rolf and Jonny each have a new Potion. A while later, Rolf and Bunnelby were staring down a brown, birdlike Pokemon. He uses the pokedex to learn what it was.
"Pidgey, the Tiny Bird Pokemon. It is docile and prefers to avoid conflict. If disturbed, however, it can ferociously fight back." said the pokedex. He puts the pokedex in his pocket.
"Bunnelby, Leer!" said Rolf. Bunnelby stares harshly at Pidgey, making it nervous and lowering its defense. Pidgey flies at Bunnelby and rams him. "Bunnelby, Quick Attack!" Bunnelby leaps at the Pidgey and slams into it, doing more damage thanks to its lowered defense. Rolf then grabs another empty pokeball from his pocket and throws it at Pidgey, hitting it and sucking it in. After a while, the ball clicks, indicating a successful capture. Rolf walks over and picks up the pokeball. He pulls out the pokedex from his pocket and uses it to look up Pidgey's information. "Rolf's Pidgey is a girl, she knows only Tackle, and she has the Keen Eye ability which makes it so she can't have lowered accuracy." Meanwhile, Jonny and Zigzagoon were facing a green, caterpillar-like Pokmeon.
"Rolf, toss me the pokedex." said Jonny. Rolf tosses the pokedex to Jonny, who catches it and points it at the Pokemon.
"Caterpie, the Worm Pokemon. Its feet have suction cups designs to stick to any surface. It tenaciously climbs trees to forage." said the pokedex.
"Okay, Zigzagoon, use Tail Whip!" said Jonny. Zigzagoon runs over to Caterpie and wags his tail onto it, lowering its defense. Caterpie shoots a silk thread out of its mouth, and it wraps around Zigzagoon, lowering his speed. "Use Tackle!" Zigzagoon runs at Caterpie and rams into it, doing more damage than it normally would due to its defense begin decreased, and it gets knocked to the ground. Jonny pulls an empty pokeball out of his pocket and throws it at Caterpie, hitting it and sucking it in. It wiggles around for a few seconds until it stops and clicks, indicating Caterpie's capture. Jonny runs over and picks up Caterpie's pokeball. "All right! Caterpie is my newest Pokemon!" He turns to Zigzagoon. "Great job, Zigzagoon!"
"Zigzagoon!" cheered Zigzagoon. Jonny uses the pokedex to learn about his new Caterpie.
"Okay. It says Caterpie's a girl, she knows Tackle, and String Shot, and she has the Shield Dust ability, which prevents moves that causes damage from having a secondary effect." said Jonny.
"You mean if Caterpie gets hit with Thunder Shock, it won't paralyze her?" asked Kevin.
"Yeah. Pretty cool ability." said Jonny. Kevin turns toward rustling from some tall grass to see a black, larvalike Pokemon coming out.
"Hey, Jonny. Hand me that pokedex." said Kevin. Jonny gives it to him, and he points it at the Pokemon.
"Scatterbug, the Scatterdust Pokemon. The powder that covers its body regulates its temperature, so it can live in any region or climate." said the pokedex. He then takes out his Fletchling's pokeball and throws it, releasing him from it.
"Fletchling, use Quick Attack!" said Kevin. Fletchling quickly moves towards the Scatterbug and slams into it, knocking it to the ground. After that, Kevin grabs a pokeball from his pocket and throws it at Scatterbug. The pokeball hits Scatterbug, sucks it in, and wiggles a few times before clicking. "Awesome!" He then takes out the pokedex from his pocket and looks up Scatterbug's information on it. "My new Scatterbug's a dudette, she knows Tackle, and String Shot; and she has the Compound Eyes ability which makes her more likely to hit an opponent with an attack."
"That sounds cool." said Jonny.
"So, what now, Kevin?" asked Rolf.
"Let's train our newer Pokemon for a while." suggested Kevin.
"Good idea, Kevin!" said Jonny. They train Pidgey, Caterpie, and Scatterbug for a while. Rolf's Pidgey learned Sand Attack, and Kevin's Scatterbug learned Stun Spore. During Jonny's Caterpie's training, the boys saw something happen that the Eds told them about a while back, Caterpie started to glow.
"Whoa! I think Caterpie's evolving!" said Kevin.
"Awesome!" said Jonny. They watched as Caterpie form began changing. When she stopped glowing, she was encased in a green cocoon with a pair of eyes and a pointed nose. "Kevin, give me the pokedex!" said Jonny. Kevin gives Jonny the pokedex and he points it at the newly evolved Caterpie.
"Metapod, the Cocoon Pokemon and the evolved form of Caterpie. This Pokemon is vulnerable to attacks while its shell is soft, exposing its weak and tender body." said the pokedex.
"This says Metapod now knows Harden, and she now has the Shed Skin ability, which cures her of any status condition she may have." said Jonny.
"Pokemon evolution is awesome!" said Kevin.
"So, what should we do now, Kevin?" asked Rolf.
"Let's head back to Aquacorde Town and get our Pokemon healed; then after that, we'll head for Santalune City. I think we did all we can here." said Kevin.
"Being a Pokemon trainer is so cool!" said Jonny.
"Rolf is glad the Ed boys sent us here in their place." said Rolf.
"Same here, man. Let's get going." said Kevin. They all turn and start heading back to Aquacorde Town. Meanwhile, back at the airport Kevin, Rolf, Jonny, and the Eds were at yesterday; Nazz was standing near a door in a terminal with her parents.
"Are you sure you want to do this, sweetie?" asked Nazz's father.
"Yeah, Dad. It's not fair that my other friends get to have Pokemon journeys, and I'm stuck in Peach Creek all alone with no one to talk to." said Nazz.
"Well, I guess there's no talking you out of it. Do you know where to go when you get to the Kalos Region?" asked Nazz's mother.
"Kevin said they were going to see some dude named Professor Sycamore or something like that. I'll ask around where I end up and hope someone knows where the dude lives." said Nazz.
"Okay, then. Do you have everything you need?" asked Nazz's father. She looks at the bag she was holding.
"I think so." said Nazz. Just then, an announcement comes over the PA system.
"Attention. The flight to Lumiose City is now boarding. All passengers please board the plane." said the announcer.
"Okay, Mom and Dad; see you later." said Nazz as she heads down the passenger boarding bridge and boards the plane.
"Call us when you get there, sweetie!" shouts Nazz's father.
"Okay, Dad!" Nazz shouts back. Inside the plane, Nazz finds her seat and sits in it. 'I hope I can find Kevin and the others when I get there.' The plane soon takes off, sending Nazz on her way to the Kalos Region.
