DISCLAIMER I DO NOT OWN BROTHERS CONFLICT IN ANYWAY SHAPE OR FORM
Natsume gave out a sigh before looking at his brothers still cooing admiring his four babies displayed out in front of them.
"Okay guys, sorry to have to say this, but times up. We have to go," he said reluctantly.
"Oh," a few brothers whined.
"Come on, you heard him. Let's be respectful to the doctors and nurses working here and do what's best for the babies. Remember, it's not just ours in there," Masaomi said as he helped usher his brothers out.
"I just wish we could watch them a little longer," Wataru said sadly.
"Well, actually you can," Natsume mentioned, "I'll show you once we're out."
The brothers were soon out and back in the lobby.
"So what's this about being able to still see the babies?" Tsubaki asked, intrigued.
"Well if you pull out your phones and go to the hospital webpage," Natsume started to instruct. "Then in the menu go to maternity/pediatrics. And there should be a camera tab. And you'll want to select NIC-ICU. And then you'll have to punch in a few different codes. All four codes start out with IPC, then you'll have to add either H5, B6, A7, or R8."
"Hey, the babies!" Wataru said excited.
"Yeah, each incubator has a camera that allows you to look in on the babies," Natsume explained, "It's mostly meant for the parents, but they said we're allowed to give the codes out to anyone we want. Once any of the babies are big and healthy enough to leave NIC-ICU, they reset the passwords for the next family that has to use the incubator."
"Can we share the codes as well?" Subaru asked.
"Just don't overuse it," Natsume said with a nod of his head.
A few of his brothers started fiddling with their phones.
Before Natsume could do or say anything more, he felt an arm around him
"Congratulations Natsume, truly," Hikaru said looking happily, "but I'm curious, was my prediction right or not?"
"Oh right that," Natsume said biting his lip.
"Well?" Hikaru asked.
"Yes, you were right," Natsume admitted reluctantly.
"I'm sorry, what was that?" Hikaru asked.
"Yes! You were right! Alright!" Natsume snapped, "so , how am I supposed to humiliate myself by admitting you were right?"
"Hmm," Hikaru said looking at his phone at the four camera images, "well, for the sakes of my beautiful new nieces and nephews, I'll let you off the hook with merely admitting I was right."
"Really?" Natsume asked.
"'Course, I may feel the need to taunt you about in the future. But for now, be happy you have four blessings for everyone to fawn over," Hikaru added.
"Yes, of course," Natsume said, exhausted but happy.
Hikaru smirked at him one more time before walking off, still admiring the babies through the cameras.
Natsume sighed happily. Only to suddenly be approached by another brother.
"Natsume?" Louis asked, "I have to ask. Otherwise it'll drive me crazy. Your babies names are very unique and splendid. But I'm curious how you came about them. I mean, as I recall, Chi mentioned possibly naming one of your son's Hayase, which means waterfall. But Boton, your other son's name, it means peony, right?"
"Uh," Natsume sputtered.
"Iori, Boton does mean peony, correct?" Louis asked Iori.
"Yeah, it does. But don't worry, Natsume. Kyo and I were considering it a name for our baby. We haven't even been discussing names yet," Iori said.
"That's okay," Natsume assured him.
"And, Roza, your younger daughter's name, that means pink, doesn't it?" Louis continued to ask.
"Yes," Natsume admitted.
"So you have Pink, Peony, just like that delightful inn, plus Hayase which means waterfall, the same theme room you and Chi stayed in during your visit, correct?" Louis asked, "was that deliberate?"
"I would, assumed so," Natsume said, "Ema picked out the names and I just gave my consent."
"That sounds sweet," said Louis, "but then what about the other daughter? Amaya?"
"It means rain," Natsume said, "and I think I know how she picked out that name. You remember that nigh Ema found out she was actually adopted?"
"Oh yes, and you found her in the rain, so she spent the night at your place for the first time?" Louis said.
"Yes, and that was also the first time I kissed her," Natsume added.
"Oh," Louis said with a happy smile, "I like Chi's choices then. And don't worry, I won't tell anyone the real reason the names were chosen."
"Thank you," Natsume, both he and Louis looking out at their brothers who had been too focused on their phones during their whole conversation.
"How is Chi?" Louis asked.
"I was going to go check on her, but, I kinda wanted to do it alone," Natsume said.
"Go ahead, I'm sure no one will notice for a while," Louis encouraged him.
"Thank you," Natsume said, "and when we're both good, she's back in the room she was in before."
Louis nodded as he brushed his brother away and turned his attention back to his own phone.
Natsume hurried off, back to Ema, all while watching his new babies on his phone.
Ema was still tired and barely able to pay attention around her as she was wheeled back to her room, with Dr. Senyu and a few nurses.
"The meds will probably wear off in another half hour or so," she was sure she heard Dr. Senyu telling a nurse. "Once she's more awake, see if you can get her into the shower. It'll be good for her. And keep a good eye on her bandages, make sure they don't get too bloody and stay on."
"Yes sir," the nurse was heard replying by the time everyone has returned to Ema's room.
Ema was only able to really focus on another nurse setting something on the nightstand next to her bed as a few others moved around the room and Dr. Senyu gave off a few more instructions.
"Here you go, Mrs. Asahina," the nurse next to her suddenly said, "now you can see your babies all the time."
"My babies?" Ema said looking where the nurse was at, suddenly getting slightly more alert. She could slightly see four images of her tiny babies resting in their incubators.
"My babies," she said softly happily, before slowly closing her eyes.
"Doctor?" a nurse mentioned.
Dr. Senyu looked over at Ema sleeping.
"She's fine, she'll need all the sleep she can get," he said.
Just then Natsume walked into the room.
He paused when he too saw Ema sound asleep.
"It's a common side affect from both the procedure and the drugs we gave her," Dr. Senyu immediately said, "she'll probably wake up in an hour or so. Then I've advised the nurses to help her shower."
"Alright, thank you Dr. Senyu," Natsume said. He bowed his head to the doctor.
"Seriously, Dr. Senyu, thank you so much for all you've done for us these past few months, ever since we found out about the quadruplets. You've made the whole experience a little more endurable and we owe you our children's lives."
Dr. Senyu smiled kindly.
"You're more than welcome Natsume," he said, "but if you really want to thank, I only ask that you make sure you raise those kids right. Make sure they grow up respectful to others, and caring for the world as a whole. They grow up to be decent adults, then I'll know my work was worth it."
"Don't worry, we will," Natsume assured him.
"I had a strong feeling you would," Dr. Senyu said as he too bowed his head to Natsume, "good luck to the six of you. I wish you nothing but happiness for all the years to come."
He then signaled for the nurses to follow him out. One did a last check on Ema before following the rest out.
Natsume sat down next to Ema's bed, relaxed for the first time that day.
"You did good today Ema, I'm so proud of you," he whispered. He then noticed Ema's tablet on the side table with all four babies' images present.
He smiled even wider. "You kids did good too. I'm waiting for the day we can hold all four of you in our arms. We love you all so much even if we can show you it right now. But we trust the people looking after you and are going to stay close for as long as you're all in there. I promise."
He watched for long as he could before he too felt his eyes getting heavy and leaned back in his chair.
"Hey," Masaomi and Ukyo both heard Rika calling out as they saw her, Tomori, Mizu and Kadia walking into the lobby.
"We got Ukyo's text that it was over and the births were successful?" Tomori asked.
"Yes, they were," Masaomi said as he and Ukyo walked over to their own families and showed them the video footage of the quadruplets.
"These are your new cousins," Ukyo said as he made sure to hold his phone low enough to let Kadia see.
"Oh wow!" Kadia said with delight.
"Oh my God, they're beautiful!" Tomori said, fighting her tears.
"Oh and so tiny," Rika mentioned, "you know they're supposed to be, but seeing them like that, it just...,"
"Are they always going to be small?" Mizu asked.
"Oh kinda, probably," Masaomi said.
"What are they? Are they boys or girls?" Kadia asked.
"Two of each," Ukyo told her, "it goes boy, boy, girl, girl. So you and Mizu are half right and half wrong."
Mizu and Kadia looked at each other and sneered.
"At least the boys came first!" Mizu said.
"Hey now, none of that. We're supposed to be happy Aunt Ema gave birth safely and successfully to four beautiful babies, our newest family members," Masaomi scolded.
"Your dad's right, no fighting," Rika said, giving her son a light spank.
"Agreed," Tomori added, gently slapping her daughter's back. "So what are their names, anyway?"
"Hayase, Boton, Amaya, and Roza," Masaomi said.
"Those are nice names!" Tomori said.
"Can we go see them for real?" Kadia asked.
"They're all too small so it probably wouldn't be a good idea. Small babies like them are very vulnerable at getting sick. So the less around, the better until they're strong enough to come home," Tomori explained to her and Mizu.
"She's right," Masaomi said, "so for now we can enjoy watching them through the cameras. I'll even give your moms the code so we can see them whenever."
"Yes please do!" Rika said, "I can't wait to show these off at the office as a proud aunt!"
"I remember how you went off when Kadia was born," Ukyo said with a chuckle.
"Are the others sharing the codes as well, with the other aunts?" Tomori asked.
"Oh probably," Masaomi said looking back at his brothers.
"Do I honestly look like a girl who knows how to handle a sword!" Haruhi recorded her lines.
"Cut, good, but let's try it again," the director said.
"Okay, how about this time I try it a little more whiny?" Haruhi asked.
"Yeah, let's do that," The director agreed.
Just then Haruhi's phone started going off.
"Mind if I take this real fast?" she asked.
"Uh yeah, but make it quick," the director allowed.
Haruhi walked over to a secluded corner and saw it was a text that gave off instructions that Haruhi quickly followed and soon was gasping.
"Oh my God!" she shouted.
"Everything okay?" the director asked.
"I may need another minute or two," Haruhi said, "I have to take this in."
"What?" one of the assistants asked.
"I just got to be an aunt!" Haruhi said happily.
Sunako watched her her screen intensely as she added to her latest chapter.
"Do I kill her now or wait just a little longer?" she pondered as she stroked her chin.
She heard her phone go off and at first tried to ignore it. However it kept going to the point she finally answered. When she did and started to follow the instructions, suddenly felling less on edge.
"Oh my goodness," Sunako said softly, not even paying attention to her work.
"Well, what do you think?" Yuki asked as she let her current client take a look in the mirror.
"Wow! I can't believe it. It's amazing!" the client said happily.
"Your date night is going to be a smash now," Yuki assured her. The client nodded with delight before heading to the check out station.
"Awesome job as usual boss," one Yuki's employees praised.
"And you managed to do it without running to the bathroom," another teased.
"Yeah, we're getting better at that," Yuki said, holding her belly.
"Hey Boss, your phone's going off," another employee mentioned.
"Oh, it must be from Louis," Yuki said as she walked over to her personal things and pulled out her cell phone.
"Oh my goodness, you guys! Come look at this!" she said after a short while.
All her employees quickly gathered around to see the four babies' images on her phone screen.
"Oh my!
"Wow!" the other hair dressers said as they viewed the screen.
"Remind me again, who are these?" one asked.
"These are mine and Louis' new nieces and nephews!" Yuki said happily, "and my future baby's cousins!"
Mie sighed miserable as she worked at her office desk. She actually preferred working at the actual hotels, among the staff. She liked having the social interaction with the people who worked for her company. It made it feel like she could better understand what they needed and what was needed in general to help make the hotels and resorts a better place for all.
But she also knew it was important to learn this side of the business, especially since it was beyond obvious now that she would be the one to take over from her mother and father.
Her boring routine was interrupted by her phone ringing.
'Thanks Subaru, you always know how to baile me out,' she thought, seeing his picture before she answered.
She gasped with shock after she came to the hospital incubator cameras and saw all four babie.
"How prescious!" Mie shouted as she jumped up.
"Mom! Mom! You should come see this!" she called out as she ran out of her office in excitement.
Kyo sat her in lap, logging in some of her newest research from observing the one of her specimens.
"Fascinating," she said to herself as she added some more to her notes.
She nearly fell off her her stool when she heard her phone went off.
"This better be important!" she muttered as she picked it up and looked at it. Her eyes widen in astonishment when she finally saw what Iori had text her about.
"Oh wow," she said, putting her hand on her own belly.
"Dr. Doyo, how's the research?" one of her colleges asked, walking through her lab.
"Hmm, fine," Kyo said, still looking at her phone.
"Have we found something more interesting to observe?" her college asked sternly.
"Oh yeah, my new nieces and nephews," Kyo said happily.
"Alright, looking good," Keitorin said fiddling with her computer, "I think these are going to be great for the magazine."
"Here's your spring water," Emiko said placing a bottle down in the desk for her.
"Oh thank you," Keitorin said, "could you please file these pictures?"
"Will do," Emiko said as she started to gather up the photos.
Just then both their phones started to go off.
"Oh Futo," Keitorin said.
"And I got a message from Yusuke," Emiko said.
"Is his saying the same thing?" Keitorin asked as she held up her phone.
"Yeah," Emiko said, showing Keitorin hers.
"Hmm," Keitorin said as she fiddled with her computer. "Oh my God! Emiko!"
Emiko looked over Keitorin's shoulder at the screen and gasped.
"Oh my goodness!"
"Everyone, come here! Quick!" Keitorin shouted. The whole office ran over to the computer.
"Check it out, Ema's new babies!" Keitorin said happily.
"Oh wow!"
"That's amazing!"
"I can't believe it!"
"Chief finally had her babies huh?" Wazuki said.
"Yep, Sensei's a mother!" said Keitorin happily.
"Miss Garasu?"
Everyone gasped as Mr. Shohan walked into the room with Mr. Bumon and his secretary.
"Is there a problem Mr. Shohan?" Keitorin asked.
"No, the opposite," said Mr. Shohan, "I was going to praise your lastest work. The magazine sold in great numbers. Which is why we were wondering if you'd consider possibly working for us permanently. Even on a part time basis."
"Oh wow, that's a big offer sir," Keitorin said.
"I know, and I'll let you think about it," said Mr. Shohan said, "please let us know soon though."
"Uh, sir, before you go, you should come see this!" Keitorin quickly said.
"Hmm?" Mr. Shohan said as he came around to the computer. "What's this?"
"These are Ema Asahina's new babies! Two boys and two girls!" Keitorin said excited.
"Oh my goodness, amazing," Mr. Shohan said.
"That girl finally did huh? Well congrats to her," Mr. Boton.
"Shall we send her a gift of sorts?" Ms. Shoka asked.
"Mmm, yes, get her some flowers, maybe some candy, and maybe a toy or accessory for the babies themselves," Mr. Shohan said.
"Uh, Mr. Shohan, if you want, my assistant Emiko can take care of all that for you," Keitorin suggested.
"Who?" Mr. Shohan said looking at the girl.
"She's our part-timer and she's also dating one of Ema's brothers. She could probably help find the perfect gifts for Ema and her babies," Keitorin said.
"Oh," Mr. Shohan said, "oh, yeah sure. Ms. Shoka, get her the company card and also the car to take her to the store and hospital."
"Yes, sir," Ms. Shoka said as she headed out.
"If I get a card, what should I put in it?" Emiko asked.
"Have it read out it's from the just the entire company," said Mr. Shohan, looking at the computer again. "Damn, could only imagine what that must have felt like!"
"Well lucky our Ema girl is tough," Mr. Bumon said as he and Mr. Shohan finally leaved.
"Did you want to come with me?" Emiko asked Keitorin as she gathered her things.
"No I can't, can't get out of this shoot," Keitorin said, "but I figured one of us should be able to go down and see her. That's why I suggested you."
"Thanks!" Emiko said happily as she hurried out.
As she headed to the front doors, she was met by Ms. Shoka again.
"Here's the card, make sure you use it responsibly and return it to my desk tomorrow," she instructed.
"Yes of course Ma'am," said Emiko.
"Oh, and if you can, get something nice for Ema and her babies for me," Ms. Shoka whispered, "I'll take care of it."
"Of course, thank," Emiko said, as she headed out to the waiting company car. She had to force herself to keep calm as she was driven away.
"Man, Haruhi's going to be freaking out when she sees these!" Tsubaki said as he returned to look at the images himself.
"Yeah Sunako too," Azusa said.
"I would believe all the ladies will be," Futo said. He nudged Iori next to him.
"A little preview for you and Louis, huh?" he mocked.
"Well hopefully, ours won't be too little like this," Iori said with a slight nervous face.
"I'm sure they won't, I'm sure ours will be able to be born safe," Louis encouraged his younger brother.
"Hey, Emiko's coming," Yusuke suddenly said, "she text me that she's been assigned to get a few gifts on behalf of the publishing company."
"That's nice of her," Subaru said, "I wouldn't be surprised if Mie shows up within the next half hour or so."
"So all your wives and girlfriends have been contacted, huh?" Wataru asked, "but did anyone think to text...,"
"Grandma! Grandpa!" Mizu suddenly shouted as Miwa and Rintaro showed up.
"Mom," Masaomi said, "Rintaro."
"Who contacted them?" Tsubaki asked.
"Hmm," Hikaru said waving his phone.
"Oh look at you, the good son," Kaname teased.
"Someone has to be," Hikaru said smug.
"So what the news?" Miwa immediately asked.
"Kadia, show your grandma," Ukyo quickly said, handing her his phone.
Kadia did as she was told. "Look Grandma!"
"Oh my goodness!" Miwa said with love as she and Rintaro gazed at the screen with love and happiness.
"Are these your new cousins?" Rintaro asked.
"Yeah, two boys, two girls," Kadia said.
"Oh wonderful!" Miwa said happily, "where are the proud new parents?"
She felt Louis' hand on her arm as he whispered.
"Natsume went to check on Ema in private, less she not get overwhelmed," he whispered.
"Oh," Miwa said softly.
"But if you two want, you can go down and see them," Louis also whispered, giving his mom the room number.
"Thanks dear, we'll go do that real fast," Miwa said as she and Rintaro snuck out and headed to Ema's room.
Natsume stirred as he heard the door to the room opening softly. He glanced at Ema quickly and saw she was still asleep.
He then looked towards the door in slight panic over who was about to come in.
To his relief, he saw his mom's head poking in.
"Is it safe to come in?" Miwa asked softly.
"Yes, but be quiet," Natsume replied nodding at Ema.
"Oh, poor dear," Miwa said as she and Rintaro came and stood by her bed.
"She looks at peace at least," Rintaro whispered, "did she do ok during the birth?"
"Oh yeah, she was amazing," Natsume assured him. He stood up and walked around to the other side of Ema's bed, where her nightstand and tablet was.
"Have you seen to this yet?" he asked holding up the tablet.
"Oh, yes!" Miwa excited, "the precious little angels!"
"They do look sweet, even if they're so tiny," Rintaro agreed, "what are their names?"
"Hayase is the first, Botan is the second, Amaya is our third, and finally Roza, the last and smallest of the bunch," Natsume said with pride, "Ema picked out all the names herself."
"Well, I like them," Rintaro said.
"Me too, they seem to fit perfectly," said Miwa. "I don't suppose we can see them in person though? If only for a moment."
"There might be a way," Natsume said, "let's go see."
"I'll be right there," Rintaro said as Natsume and Miwa turn to leave.
"We'll wait for you by the doors to the NIC-ICU," Natsume said.
Rintaro smiled at his sleeping daughter before pulling something out from a bag he carried.
"I don't know if you remember this, but this was your favorite toy as a baby," he said as he placed a pink flower pattern bunny on the nightstand next to the tablet.
"Remember, Ume. I never tod you, but Ume was actually given to you by your birth parents. They loved playing with you and Ume so much. I felt you should have her here today, even if there's only one of her. I'm sure you can share her among your four. Oh your parents would be so happy to see this day. I bet they're watching you even now from heaven, looking out for you and your new babies. I hope you are able to raise your babies all the way to adulthood. I love you sweetheart, and I can't be happier knowing you've grown and become such an amazing woman and now a mom yourself."
He gave Ema a soft kiss on her forehead before finally walking out.
Ema moaned as she thought she heard her father's voice.
"Papa?" she asked sleepy, as she opened heavy eyelids and tried looking around. She didn't see any sight of her dad anywhere, but something did catch her attention.
"Ume?" Ema said in surprise when she saw her old bunny toy.
She smiled happy seeing it next to the tablet still showing her babies'images.
Next thing she knew though, her heavy eyelids came down, blocking her view.
"Oh they're so cute!"
"I know, it's almost too good to be true!"
"Huh?" Ema said as she found herself waking up. She looked around. She wasn't in her hospital room anymore. Instead she was in some kind of nursery, with pink walls and flower pattern on the walls. She looked in front of her and saw two strangers with their back to her admiring something happily.
"Hello?" Ema said confused. The two strangers turned around, and Ema grasped.
"Mother? Father?" she said as she saw her birth parents' faces.
"Sorry dear, did we wake you?" her mother asked.
"We just couldn't get over how adorable your babies are!" said her father.
"What?" Ema said as she hurried over to where her parents were standing and saw they were looking in on a huge crib that was holding her four babies. They were all a little bigger, in clothes and smiling and giggling like normal babies. Each one was also holding their own Ume bunny.
"You came to see the babies?" Ema asked.
"Of course," said her mother.
"Did you think we'd miss a big event like this?" asked her father.
"Our little baby girl, a mother now herself," her mother praised.
"We couldn't be more proud of you and all you've accomplished to this point," her father also praised.
"Thank you Mother, Father," Ema said.
"You got what we always wanted for you, including your other father," said her birth father.
"A happy family all your own," said her mother.
Ema smiled in agreement.
"I do have a wonderful family now, don't I?" she said looking at her babies.
She could almost feel her mother and father hugging her as they all gazed down at the babies smiling back up at them as well.
Ema suddenly felt herself waking up with more strength.
She looked around her room again, a little disappointed she was back in her hospital room, alone.
She rested her head back against her pillow before looking at her side table with her tablet. It was then she realized Ume really was sitting next to the tablet.
"Ume? When did you get here?" Ema asked as she reached for the toy.
"It's been so long since I've seen you, where have you been?" She hugged her friend tight.
"I hope I can play with you with my babies like I did with Papa!"
She looked back at her tablet making sure her babies were all looking okay. She was a little surprised to see a hand reach in and stroke Roza's hand gently.
Ema leaned in closer to try and see who's hand it was until she noticed a familiar wedding band on one of the fingers.
"Awe," Ema cooed, "Natsume's looking after the babies! I knew he would be an amazing father."
Rintaro hurried as fast as he could towards the NIC-ICU. There he saw Miwa waiting patiently by herself.
"Hi," he said as he joined her wife.
"Hello, everything okay?" Miwa asked.
"Yeah, just wanted a private moment with my daughter on her special day, is all," Rintaro explained, "gave her that pink bunny I found in our storage not too long ago."
"Oh, yeah, the one her parents got for," Miwa recalled, "oh I bet she'll be so excited to see it again."
Rintaro nodded in agreement, "where's Natsume by the way?"
"Just gone in to get permission for us to go in," Miwa told him, "he's allowed to anytime he wants since he's the father."
Just then Natsume walked in.
"We're good, they even said you can come into the room itself and get a closer look at the babies. Even touch one or two of the bigger ones," he said.
"Oh wonderful!" Miwa said happily.
"Just make sure you put on gloves and a mask," Natsume instructed.
"Right, of course," Rintaro said as he helped equipped himself and Miwa with everything required.
They then followed Natsume inward and then further into the nursery itself.
The four Asahina quadruplets were all together in a semi circle in the middle of the room.
Nearby, their four doctors were writing notes down or examining their individual patients.
"Well, here they are," Natsume said as he stood next to two of the incubators, the two holding his sons.
Miwa and Rintaro came and stood next to the two holding the girls.
"My goodness, they're almost like dolls," Rintaro mentioned.
"You're right," Miwa said, "makes me want to possibly make doll version of all four, just so we can remember them as they are now."
"Whatever makes you happy mom," Natsume said looking around at his children.
"I don't mean to make light of the situation dear," Miwa apologized.
"It's okay, I'm sure they'll be okay in the long run," Natsume said.
"You'd be right, Mr. Asahina," Dr. Senzoku said as she came to the incubator holding Hayase. "In fact, if your oldest here keeps being as strong as he is, he could be heading home by the end of next week."
"Really?" Natsume said, happy with the news, "but what about the other three?"
"Boton may need an extra week or so to get his weight up," Dr. Kawari said, "but everything seems to be on track with him."
"Same with Amaya," Dr. Osango said, "she and Boton are roughly the same size. I imagine they'll both go home around the same time."
Natsume nodded, "and Roza?" He moved to the small baby's incubator
"She's probably going to be a month, if not more," Dr. Kumi spoke up, "she has the longest way to go. But she seems determined to get there and I'm just as determined. I think she and I are going to make a good team."
"Thank you, Doctor," Natsume said.
"It's safe to touch her, you know," Dr. Kumi mentioned, "she's not too vulnerable."
"Is she?" Natsume said. He hesitantly reached in and took Roza's full hand in between his thumb and pointer. Roza looked to where the new experience was coming from. She seemed to look straight at Natsume with a confused look.
"It's okay, I'm your daddy," Natsume said out loud. He paused after hearing himself say daddy out loud.
"Yeah, I'm your daddy, I'm all your daddy," he said.
"They say it's a special occasion when you first introduce yourself as daddy or mommy," Miwa said.
"True, even I felt it when I called myself daddy the first time to Ema," Rintaro agreed.
"Hmm," Natsume hummed with a nod. "Got to get Ema in here so she can get her chance."
"Oh yes," Miwa said, "once she's gotten enough rest of course."
"I wonder if I should go check on her," Natsume said. Though he was clearly more focused on his four children.
"We can," Miwa offered, "we should probably get out of here anyway."
"Oh, sure, thank you," Natsume said, trying to give his parents attention but still more interested in the babies.
"Nice getting to see the babies in person," Miwa whispered as she and Rintaro headed to the exit.
Natsume looked up at them one last time before returning his attention towards his children.
He tried pulling his finger away from Roza's grip, however he was surprised she didn't let go. If anything she seemed to tighten her grip on it.
"Hmm," Natsume said, a little impressed by the little baby's determination.
"Come on, let go," he said as he tried to pull away, "I want to check out your brothers and sister."
He managed to finally pulled away, which seemed to make Roza cry.
"Uh-oh!" Natsume looking down at her. He quickly put his hand back in and let Roza take hold of his finger. She immediately started to calm down.
"Well, somebody's a daddy's girl," Dr. Kumi joked.
"Is that normal?" Natsume asked.
"It can be," Dr. Senzoku said, "they sometimes like the warmth that comes from your hand. So yes, some do cry when it goes away."
"Oh, okay," Natsume said. Not that he minded too much. It felt nice having a bonding moment with his daughter.
"Hey," Emiko said suddenly coming into the lobby. Her arms full of flowers, candy boxes and a few other shopping bags.
"Oh hey," Yusuke said as he quickly headed over to her, "this all for Ema from her work?"
"Yeah, wanted to make sure I got some nice stuff, while at the same time, not going overboard," Emiko said. "How's it going?"
"Okay, I guess," Yusuke said, shrugging his shoulders. "Haven't done much, got to see the babies in person for a brief moment. After that, just been hanging out here looking at the camera footage."
"All of Ema's team, and Keitorin we're ecstatic over seeing the footage ourselves!" Emiko mentioned, "Even the main boss, Mr. Shohan, and Mr. Boton showed up and got to see them. That's why they sent me to buy the gifts for them. Is it okay if I take these to her room or should I leave them with you?"
"Natsume did mention he'd rather Chi not be bothered a short while ago, but maybe she's awake now and can let you drop these off in her room," Louis mentioned as he joined the pair.
"Let's go see," Yusuke said softly as the three snuck out quietly and headed towards Ema's room.
There they found Miwa and Rintaro leaving.
"Hello Mom, Rintaro, is Chi awake by chance?" Louis asked.
"She is but she's taking a shower," Rintaro said, "we're going to be heading out ourselves."
"Sounds fair, we can still leave these in her room in the meantime," Yusuke said. "see you later Mom."
"Excited to be a grandmother again?" Louis asked kindly.
"Always," Miwa said as she gave both her sons a hug. She also gave Emiko one too.
"I have no doubt any child you and Yusuke might have, will be adorable beyond compare just like all my other grandchildren so far," she whispered.
"Mom!" Yusuke warned.
"Just saying," Miwa said as she finally walked off with Rintaro.
Emiko looked at Yusuke.
"Are you, have you, been thinking...," she sputtered.
"Well, I'd be lying if I said the thought hadn't crossed my mind. But I also didn't want to get in the way of your studies. I know you really want to make it this time and I felt that asking you, would kinda get in the way," Yusuke explained sheepishly.
Emiko smiled and kissed him.
"You are such a sweet heart," she said as she finally walked into Ema's room.
Louis also smiled at his brother.
"You and her are a good match," he complimented as he followed Emiko in.
Yusuke shrugged as he too walked in.
The room was still empty as the three walked in, but could hear the sound of water coming from the bathroom.
"Where should I put these?" Emiko asked.
"How about here for now?" Yusuke said, pointing to a mostly bare table.
Emiko quickly did so, arranging the different items in a presentable way, including the card.
"Where did you find these?" Yusuke asked as he picked up a small box containing four small different color teddy bears.
"Like them? I found them at the flower shop where I got the bouquet," Emiko said.
"Ah," Yusuke said, "and this box of rattles?"
"Oh most of the rest of the stuff I got from the store I got the candy from. These are technically a gift from Mr. Shohan's secretary Ms. Shoka. She asked me to get something from her specifically."
"Oh," Yusuke said with a shrugged.
Just then the bathroom door open and Ema and a nurse walked out.
"Oh hello," Ema said happily.
"Hello Chi!" Louis said as he quickly embraced his sister, "how are you feeling?"
"Still a little sore, but rested," Ema said, "I was going to make an attempt to see my babies in person."
"Oh sure, we'll get out of your way," Yusuke said as he helped Emiko finish putting everything out.
"These are gifts from your work," Emiko told her, "Mr. Shohan asked me to go do some shopping to get you some things."
"Oh, how sweet!" Ema said as she went and looked at the different gifts.
"The box of rattles is from Ms. Shoka," Emiko was quick to mention.
"Awe!" Ema said happily.
"All your assistants were excited to see your babies too by the way," Emiko also told her.
"They saw?" Ema asked.
"Yusuke and Futo sent me and Keitorin the camera codes, so we were able to pull it up at the office," Emiko explained.
"Oh, I see," Ema said with a blush.
"Plus Mr. Shohan and Mr. Bumon saw when they came by the office," Emiko said.
"Did they?" Ema asked surprised.
"That's what prompt Mr. Shohan to go and get the presents," Emiko said.
"Oh," Ema said, touched by her boss's generosity.
"I'm sure you can look at them later. Weren't you going to try and see your babies in person?" Louis reminded her.
"Oh yes," Ema said with a blush.
"Would you like a wheelchair Mrs. Asahina?" the nurse asked.
"Uh, maybe," Ema said.
"I'll be right back with one," the nurse said as she walked out.
"Do you need to get back to your office?" Yusuke asked Emiko.
"Nah, if only to return the office card," Emiko said.
"Well let me take you back then," Yusuke offered, "then afterwards, we can go out to dinner or something."
"Sure, okay," Emiko agreed. She made sure to walk over and hugged Ema.
"Congratulations, your babies look wonderful," she said.
"Thank you," Ema said. She smiled as Yusuke and Emiko walked out.
"It is wonderful, Chi. You and Natsume are going to be wonderful parents," Louis said as he moved to follow Yusuke and Emiko out.
"Uh, Louis, can I ask you a favor?" Ema quickly asked.
"Anything Chi," Louis said.
"Well, could you maybe go by the house and...," Ema started to say.
"Oh, yes, yes I will," Louis said.
"Thank you, I know he's probably worried about me and the babies," Ema said.
"Of course he is, he's your knight," Louis said, giving Ema a gentle kiss on her cheek.
Ema blushed, right as the nurse came in with the wheelchair.
"Ready?" she asked.
"Oh yes," Ema said. Louis helped her into the chair.
"Have fun with your new children," Louis said.
Ema squeezed his hand as she was wheeled out. Louis followed slowly, making a turn to head out.
"Are you going to let me go or not?" Natsume asked Roza as a joke. It had been a little difficult to pull his hand away from her. Especially since everytime he tried, Roza started to cry again.
"Natsume?"
"Ema," Natsume said in surprise as Ema was wheeled in. This time, he pulled his hand away for real, even if it made Roza cry.
"Is she okay?" Ema asked in alarm.
"She doesn't like it when I pull my hand away from her," Natsume explained.
"Oh, someone's a daddy's girl already," Ema teased.
"Yeah, I suppose," Natsume muttered, "how are you feeling?"
"Not too bad," Ema assured him, "I was able to take a shower and then come here. To see my babies in person."
Natsume helped her stand and walk over to the incubators.
Ema looked at all four of her beautiful children.
"Hello, hello again," she said softly, "I know I didn't get to tell you before, but I'm your mommy. You all came out of me and I love all four of you so much! Welcome to the world. I don't know what's in store for you, but one thing you can count on is your mommy and daddy will always love you."
"Damn right," Natsume agreed.
"Don't cuss in front of the babies!" Ema scolded as a joke.
Natsume smirked at her, before wrapping his arm around her. The stood gazing at their four new children, finally happy to be their own full fledge family.
"Hello?" Louis called out as he walked into a room.
Both Cat Tsubaki and Cat Azusa looked up from their baskets.
"Hey you guys, where's Juli?" Louis asked.
Both cats look towards the window where Juli stood on the window still looking out.
"Juli?" Louis called out.
"Hmm?" Juli said as he finally turned around. "Oh it's you, what brings by?"
Louis held up his phone. "Chi wanted to let you see something special."
Juli quickly ran over to the bed where Louis sat down.
"Let me see! Let me see!" he demanded eagerly, "did you get some pictures of them or something?"
"Even better," Louis said as he pulled up the four images of the babies, "say hello to Hayase, Boton, Amaya, and Roza."
"Oh my goodness!" Juli said, "Chi's really a mom, isn't she?"
"Yep and she's very happy about it," Louis said.
"And Natsume?" Juli asked.
"Same as Chi," Louis assured him.
"Good," Juli said, "what a joy. Congratulations Chi and Natsume! I can't wait to see you guys in person!"
"I wish we could sneak you into the hospital so you could see them in person," Louis said.
"Me too, but I'll be happy with just seeing them like this and be patient until they all come home," Juli said, "thanks Louis."
"Of course, you'd think I'd turn my back on my friend at a time like this? Or that Chi would? Who do you think ask me to come here and show you. And I'm pretty sure you'll be able to see it all the time when the others come home. Chi and Natsume gave us all the codes to see the babies all the time," Louis said.
"Great!" Juli said, "that way I can start looking out for them just like I did Chi!"
"Sounds like you're going to be busy with your new knight duties," Louis said.
"Worth it when it comes to Chi and her family!" Juli said. He too was feeling super happy about his new family members. And he couldn't wait to see them in person.
