30 Worlds: Royal Megaforce, Episode Final: "Masters of the Ultimate Power"
BOOK THREE*CHAPTER FIVE
That night, after William had briefed Ethan's team, Sofia was in hers and William's quarters getting ready for bed, when Koska's voice came on the comm.
"Battle-Mother Sofia, this is Koska," Koska said. "The Enterprise has transmitted a 'for-your-eyes-only' message addressed to you."
"Who is the sender of the message, Koska?" Sofia said. "The sender is a Doctor Leonard McCoy, chief medical officer of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A from the Unaligned World of Star Trek's Kelvin timeline," Koska said.
"Decode and send it to me," Sofia said. "At once, Battle-Mother," Koska said.
Sofia sat behind a display screen and activated it. The image of Dr. Leonard McCoy appeared on the display. "Hello, Princess Sofia...although I do think I should be calling you Queen Sofia now," McCoy began. "I was just looking back over your medical scan from when you were at Starbase Yorktown and I found some readings that contradict what I informed you your results were."
"I found an unusual energy signature when examining your reproductive system," McCoy continued. "Before I could contact you to that effect, I was visited by Queen Scarlett and she made me swear not to tell you before the time was right. She then said that she had placed an enchantment on you that would only be removed when all thirty Grand Key components were brought together."
Sofia placed a hand on her stomach as she slowly began to realize what Dr. McCoy was referring to. "Sofia, you are indeed pregnant. By my scans, the fetus was about one month along at the time I examined you at Yorktown. Scarlett informed me that the enchantment will keep the fetus stable at the moment of application. Then when the enchantment is removed, the fetus will instantly grow to the time of pregnancy that you would be at the time the enchantment is removed—up to and including full-term and time of delivery," McCoy said. "The enchantment would also mask the pregnancy from all medical scans—returning a diagnosis of food poisoning or a similar ailment."
"Queen Scarlett made me swear not to tell you until she had passed the Scarlett Warrior's powers to William. I had a feeling she was going to do just that in the very near future to when we met on Yorktown," McCoy said. "I was just contacted by an officer at your organization's command center and they informed me that all vows and oaths sworn to Queen Scarlett were now null and void, freeing me to record this message."
"I realize this might not be the way you wanted to learn that you are about to become a mother, but enjoy this time. You are about to become the greatest living being in the universe. Congratulations, and I hope to see the little one soon," McCoy said before the display went blank.
"Oh my God," Sofia said before tapping a control on the display. "William, can you get down here please? It's urgent," Sofia said.
William walked into Sofia's quarters. She was still seated behind the display where she saw McCoy's message. "What's wrong, Sofia?" William said as Sofia tapped a few controls on the display then swung it so that William could see the screen. "Watch," Sofia said.
William's jaw dropped as he saw Dr. McCoy reveal the truth behind Sofia's diagnosis in the Unaligned World of Star Trek. "But what about the River Song theory?" William asked.
"Perhaps Scarlett's enchantment will provide a similar result," Sofia said. "But one thing is for certain." Sofia took William by the wrist and guided his hand to her stomach. William looked into Sofia's eyes, which were glistening with tears. "William, I'm pregnant."
"How far along would you be without Scarlett's enchantment?" William said. "Well, it's been about six months since our visit to the Unaligned World of Star Trek, and Dr. McCoy said that the fetus is in stasis at one month along so...seven months, give or take a week."
Before William could respond to Sofia's words, Koska's voice came on the comm. "Koska to Battle-Father William. Please come to the control room," she said. "On my way," William said.
Then, when the channel closed, William turned to Sofia. "Sofia, stay here," he said. "Bill, didn't you hear what Dr. McCoy said?" Sofia said. "The baby will be all right until the enchantment is broken."
William knew better than to argue with Sofia. "Oh, all right," William said. Sofia followed William out of their quarters.
In the control room, Ethan and Koska were standing behind Zenon as a display panel as William and Sofia walked in. "Report, Battle-Sister," William said.
"Agent Brandt sent a report to us regarding some information about the Syndicate and its ties to the A.I.C.," Koska said. "Agent Dunn and Mal are headed to the location to investigate."
"All right," William said. "Koska, you're with me. Ethan, Sofia, transmit Agent Brandt's coordinates to the Jeep."
"Yes, Battle-Father," Koska said. "Got ya," Ethan said. After William and Koska left the control room, Ethan turned to Sofia. "Queen Sofia, it is my understanding that you go everywhere with King William
on a mission like this. What's different this time?" Ethan asked.
"Promise you won't tell anyone else but William? He already knows; that's why he left me here," Sofia said. "Of course not," Ethan said.
"All right," Sofia said. She then whispered into Ethan's ear.
"Oh boy," Ethan said.
