Kanto Starters and Mega Stones
Kevin, Rolf, Jonny with Plank, and Nazz find themselves back in Lumiose City.
"So how do we get to Cyllage City, you guys?" asked Nazz. Kevin takes out the map and looks at it.
"Okay. First, we go up this road until we get to this entrance here that goes into Route 5." said Kevin. "Then we go through Route 5 until we reach a place called Camphrier Town, after that, we go through Route 7 until we get to this cave here. It's called Connecting Cave because it links Route 7 to Cyllage City."
"Awesome. You think we'll find more Pokemon on the way?" asked Nazz.
"I hope so." replied Jonny. Nazz then looks at her new Ralts' pokeball.
"Hey, guys?" said Nazz.
"What's up, Nazz?" Kevin replied.
"Do you think we can stop by Professor Sycamore's lab first?" asked Nazz. "I want to know why my Ralts has different colors than the ones it had in the pokedex photo."
"Sure." said Kevin. The four walked some more until they arrived at Professor Sycamore's laboratory. They enter it and see him reading one of his many books. He turns when he hears the group enter.
"Hello, kids." said Professor Sycamore.
"Hi, Professor Sycamore!" said Jonny.
"What brings you kids here?" asked Professor Sycamore. Nazz holds out her new Ralts' pokeball.
"I caught a Ralts a few minutes ago, and I think there might be something wrong with her." said Nazz.
"Let me look at her." requested Professor Sycamore. Nazz lets her Ralts out of her pokeball.
"You see? Her colors are different from the ones that are shown in our pokedex." said Nazz. Professor Sycamore looks at Nazz with a smile.
"There's nothing wrong with your Ralts, Nazz. She's a Shiny Ralts." said Professor Sycamore, confusing everyone.
"Rolf doesn't think it looks so shiny." said Rolf.
"No, Rolf. A Shiny Pokemon is like a regular one, but with different colors." said Professor Sycamore. "They're very rare and hard to find."
"So there's nothing wrong with her?" asked Nazz.
"She's perfectly fine." said Professor Sycamore. Nazz lets out a breath of relief.
"That's good to hear." said Nazz. Professor Sycamore suddenly has something on his mind.
"Since you kids are here; maybe you can help me out with something." said Professor Sycamore.
"Help with what?" asked Kevin.
"Follow me upstairs to my research area and I'll explain everything to you." said Professor Sycamore. He leads them to an office area and walks to a desk. On it were three pokeballs with an orb in front of each one. He picks them up and holds them out towards Kevin, Jonny, and Rolf.
"What are those?" asked Jonny.
"I'm trying to learn about Mega Evolution." said Professor Sycamore.
"Mega Evolution? What's that?" asked Kevin.
"Pokemon have limits to how far they can evolve. Mega Evolution is a kind of evolution that can allow some Pokemon to evolve beyond their normal limits." said Professor Sycamore.
"That sounds so cool!" said Jonny.
"I'll say." said Kevin. Professor Sycamore takes one of the pokeballs off his desk and throws it, releasing a blue, turtlelike Pokemon with a brown shell. Rolf grabs the pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Squirtle, the Tiny Turtle Pokemon. Shoots water at prey while in the water. Withdraws into its shell when in danger." said the pokedex. He throws another pokeball and releases a blue green, quadrapedal Pokemon with a plant bulb on its back. Kevin grabs the pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Bulbasaur, the Seed Pokemon. For some time after its birth, it grows by gaining nourishment from the seed on its back." said the pokedex. He then grabs the last pokeball and throws it, releasing an orange, lizard-like Pokemon with a flame at the end of its tail. Jonny grabs the pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Charmander, the Lizard Pokemon. From the time is born, a flame burns at the tip of its tail. Its life would end if the flame were to go out." said the pokedex.
"Awesome!" said Jonny.
"I would like each of you to take one of these Pokemon, along with each one's Mega Stone with you." said Professor Sycamore.
"Mega Stone?" replied Kevin.
"They're supposed to be a vital part of the Mega Evolution process." said Professor Sycamore. "I have very little information on the process. I'm hoping along the course of your journey that you will find someone with more information."
"You got it, man." said Kevin.
"Rolf will be glad to assist." said Rolf.
"So will I." said Jonny. Professor Sycamore looks at the three Pokemon.
"Thank you very much." said Professor Sycamore. "Now please pick which Pokemon you would like." Rolf walks forward and looks at each Pokemon with deep thought. After a minute, he makes his decision.
"Rolf would like the Squirtle." said Rolf. Professor Sycamore nods and hands Rolf Squirtle's pokeball, along with an orb that looks like a cat's eye with a blue and brown core.
"That is called Blastoisinite. It's to help Squirtle Mega Evolve when it reaches its final evolutionary stage." said Professor Sycamore. Rolf takes the pokeball and the Blastoisinite. Jonny looks at the remaining two Pokemon.
"I think I'll pick Charmander. I already have a grass type." said Jonny.
"Very well, Jonny." said Professor Sycamore. He hands Jonny Charmander's pokeball and a Mega Stone with a light orange Mega Stone with a red and yellow core. "That Mega Stone is called a Charizardite. Once Charmander is in its final evolved form, you should be able to use that to Mega Evolve it once you find the means to."
"I guess I get Bulbasaur then." said Kevin. Professor Sycamore gives Kevin Bulbasaur's pokeball and a light blue Mega Stone with a blue-green and pink core.
"That is Venusaurite. It will Mega Evolve Bulbasaur once it reaches its final evolved form." said Professor Sycamore.
"Awesome." said Kevin as he takes Bulbasaur's pokeball and Venusaurite.
"It would interest you three to know that the Pokemon I gave you are the starter Pokemon new trainers choose from in the Kanto Region." said Professor Sycamore.
"Kanto?" replied Jonny.
"Yes. There are other Pokemon regions besides Sinnoh, Alola, and this one." said Professor Sycamore, surprising the four.
"Whoa. That's so rad." said Nazz.
"The world of Pokemon is truly a big place." said Professor Sycamore.
"I guess so." said Nazz with awe.
"Maybe someday we can explore other ones." said Jonny.
"Rolf thinks that sounds like fun." said Rolf. After a minute, the four leave the laboratory and head for the front door.
"Pleasant journey, you four." said Professor Sycamore.
"Thanks, dude." said Kevin. After leaving the lab, Jonny takes out the pokedex to learn more about their Kanto starters.
"Okay. This say my Charmander's a fire type, it's a boy, he knows Scratch, Leer, Ember, and Smokescreen. He has the Blaze ability just like Fennekin. Kevin, your Bulbasaur is part grass, and part poison, it's a boy, too, he knows Tackle, Growl, Leech Seed, and Vine Whip. He has the Overgrow ability like my Chespin. Rolf, your Squirtle's a water type, it's a boy also. He knows Tackle, Tail Whip, Bubble, and Withdraw, and like Froakie, he also has the Torrent ability.
"Awesome." said Kevin.
"Rolf will train his new Squirtle well." said Rolf.
"Should we get going now, you guys?" asked Nazz.
"Yeah, let's get going." said Kevin. The gang then continued on their journey with the intention of reaching Cyllage City to win their next gym badges. Before they leave Lumiose City, they decide to stop by the Pokemon Center to treat their Pokemon. As they walked, Nazz was taking in the sights some more. It was because of this, she didn't see a woman wearing a black trenchcoat and sunhat with a white ribbon tied around it, along with some sunglasses, walk out of a cafe and right in front of her. She bumps into her, making her stagger back and drop her Ralts' pokeball, accidentally releasing her in the process.
"Are you all right, young lady?" the woman asked.
"I am so sorry. I didn't see you coming. That was totally my fault." said Nazz.
"That's quite all right." said the woman. "I know that it was an accident."
"Thanks. I guess I was distracted by the sights." said Nazz. The woman smiles at Nazz. She then notices Nazz's Ralts.
"Is that a Shiny Ralts?!" asked the woman with shock. Nazz looks at her Ralts and smiles.
"Yeah. I caught her about an hour ago." said Nazz. The woman thinks for a little bit before reaching into her coat pocket and pulling out a clear Mega Stone with a green and pink core. She then hands it to Nazz.
"Is that a Mega Stone?" asked Kevin.
"That's right, young man." said the woman. "It's called Gardevoirite. It can be used to Mega Evolve this young lady's Ralts when her Ralts becomes a Gardevoir."
"Awesome!" said Nazz as she puts the Mega Stone into her pocket. "Do you know how to Mega Evolve Pokemon?"
"You'll learn during your journey, young lady." said the woman as she turns and walks away. Nazz turns to the boys.
"Now I have a Mega Stone." said Nazz.
"That's so cool." said Jonny.
"Rolf is also happy for Nazz girl." said Rolf.
"I hope we learn how to use our Mega Stones soon." said Kevin. They soon reach the Pokemon Center and have their Pokemon treated. While their Pokemon were being treated, they all had lunch. Once they finished eating and got their Pokemon back, they head for Route 5 to continue their journey.
