Route 5
After leaving Lumiose City, Kevin, Rolf, Jonny, and Nazz find themselves walking along a river.
"Wow. This is a beautiful place." said Nazz.
"I wonder what kind of Pokemon are here?" asked Jonny.
"Let's look around for a while, maybe do some more training as well." said Kevin.
"Rolf agrees to this idea." said Rolf. They begin to look around the tall grass for new Pokemon. While Rolf was looking, he sees a brown and white, goatlike Pokemon with orange hooves, brown horns, and a mane of green leaves around its neck. "Kevin. Rolf needs the pokedex."
"You got it, dude." said Kevin as he tosses the pokedex to Rolf who catches it and points it at the Pokemon.
"Skiddo, the Mount Pokemon. If it has sunshine and water, it doesn't need to eat, because it can generate energy from the leaves on its back." said the pokedex.
"This Pokemon reminds Rolf of his goat, Victor, back home." said Rolf.
"You should totally catch it, dude." said Nazz.
"Very well. Rolf will catch this Pokemon." said Rolf as he takes out his Pidgey's pokeball and releases her from it.
"You can do it, Rolf!" said Jonny. Rolf and Pidgey stare down the Skiddo.
"Pidgey, use Gust!" said Rolf. Pidgey flaps her wings, sending a blast of wind at Skiddo which hits and does super effective damage to it.
"Good one, man. Skiddo is a grass type, so flying type moves will do awesome against it." said Kevin. The Skiddo suddenly turns around and wags its tail at Pidgey.
"How dare you shake your posterior at Rolf's Pidgey!" said Rolf. "Pidgey, use Tackle!" Pidgey then flies at Skiddo and slams into it. Skiddo runs at Pidgey and slams into her.
"Don't let up, Rolf!" said Jonny.
"Pidgey, use Quick Attack!" said Rolf. With fast speed, Pidgey flies at Skiddo and slams into it, sending it flying to the ground.
"Catch it, Rolf!" said Nazz. Rolf takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Skiddo, hitting it, and sucking it in. The ball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"You did it, Rolf!" said Jonny. Rolf runs over and picks up his new Skiddo's pokeball.
"Rolf has captured a Skiddo!" said Rolf. All of a sudden, Skiddo's pokeball becomes surrounded by energy and disappears.
"What happened?" asked Nazz.
"Sorcery!" said Rolf.
"Actually, Double-D pointed out that trainers can only have up to six Pokemon with them at all times." said Kevin. "I think he learned before leaving Sinnoh you need to go to a Pokemon Center and use the PC there to swap Pokemon."
"Rolf shall return." said Rolf.
"Can I have the pokedex, man?" asked Kevin.
"Very well." said Rolf as he gives Kevin the pokedex. He then runs back towards Lumiose City.
"I'll go with him." said Nazz. "He doesn't exactly know much about technology."
"Yeah. He got a D in typing." said Kevin. Nazz runs after Rolf. Kevin suddenly hears rustling coming from the grass. He turns to see a brown, birdlike Pokemon walking out of it. What surprised Kevin was that the Pokemon had TWO HEADS! "Whoa. What's this weird looking Pokemon?" He points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Doduo, the Twin Bird Pokemon. The brains in its two heads appear to communicate emotions to each other with a telepathic power." said the pokedex.
"And I thought that Machamp that Devon guy from the Lily of the Valley Conference used was weird looking with those four arms it had." said Kevin. He pulls Fletchling's pokeball out of his pocket. "Whatever, I'm still going to catch this Pokemon. You're up, Fletchling!" He throws Fletchling's pokeball and releases him. "All right, Fletchling, use Quick Attack!" Fletchling flies at Doduo with incredible speed and rams into it. The Doduo runs at Fletchling with incredible speed also and rams him back. "Whoa. I think that Doduo knows Quick Attack, too. Fletchling, use Growl!" Fletchling lets out a cry and unleashes soundwaves onto the Doduo, weakening its attack strength. Doduo glares angrily at Fletchling and it begins to glow red. He charges at Fletchling and drives both of its beaks into him, knocking him back. "Whoa. That Doduo doesn't look happy. Fletchling, use Quick Attack!" Fletchling flies at Doduo with incredible speed and rams it, knocking it to the ground. As it struggled to get up, Kevin takes an empty pokeball out of his pocket and throws it at the Doduo, hitting it. It gets sucked into the pokeball and after it wiggled around a few times, it clicks, indicating Doduo's capture. "Radical! I caught a Doduo." He puts Doduo's pokeball in his pocket and uses the pokedex to learn more about his new Doduo. "Okay, my Doduo's part normal and part flying, it's a girl, she knows Peck, Growl, Quick Attack, and Rage; And she has the Early Bird ability, which has her wake up from the sleep status condition quicker."
"Hey, Kevin! Toss me the pokedex!" said Jonny. Kevin looks to see Jonny looking at a round, green Pokemon with a yellow feather on its head. Kevin tosses the pokedex to Jonny and he points it at the Pokemon.
"Gulpin, the Stomach Pokemon. There is nothing its stomach can't digest. While it is digesting, vile, overpowering gases are expelled." said the pokedex. Jonny pulls Zigzagoon's pokeball out of his pocket.
"Go, Zigzagoon!" said Jonny, throwing Zigzagoon's pokeball and releases him. "Zigzagoon, use Headbutt!" Zigzagoon runs at Gulpin and rams it. Gulpin opens its mouth and releases a thick, purple gas from it and onto Zigzagoon. It turns purple underneath Zigzagoon's eyes. "Uh oh. I think Zigzagoon's poisoned!" Zigzagoon coughs and loses a bit of stamina. "Zigzagoon, Tail Whip!" Zigzagoon runs at Gulpin and wags his tail onto it, weakening its defense. Gulpin leaps at Zigzagoon and pounds him with one of its front appendages. Zigzagoon coughs and loses a bit more stamina. "Headbutt one more time!" Zigzagoon rams Gulpin again, doing more damage than before due to Gulpin's defense being weakened. The attack causes Gulpin to flinch. Jonny quickly takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Gulpin, hitting it. It gets sucked into the pokeball, and it clicks a few seconds later. "Yeah! Gulpin is mine!" Jonny puts Gulpin's pokeball away and uses the pokedex to learn more about his new Gulpin. "Okay. My Gulpin's a poison type, it's a boy, he knows Pound, Yawn, and Poison Gas; He has the Sticky Hold ability, which prevents any item he holds from being taken."
"Sounds like stealing from this Pokemon would be impossible." said Kevin. Jonny pulls an Antidote out of his backpack and sprays Zigzagoon with it to cure it of its poisoning. A few minutes later, Nazz and Rolf return.
"Got your new Skiddo back, Rolf?" asked Jonny.
"Yes. Rolf traded his Pansage for it." said Rolf.
"What's your Skiddo like, Rolf?" asked Kevin. Jonny pulls the pokedex out of his pocket and hands it to Rolf.
"This says my Skiddo is a boy, he knows Tackle, Growth, Tail Whip, and Vine Whip. He has the Grass Pelt ability which makes him tougher when battling in the grass or when something called Grassy Terrain is in use." said Rolf.
"Cool." said Kevin. "Let's keep training." They all work on training their Pokemon, especially the Kanto starters. Kevin's Fletchling learned Flail, his Vivillon,which learned Gust after evolving, learned Struggle Bug and Psybeam, his Pansear learned Fury Swipes, his Bulbasaur learned Poison Powder and Sleep Powder, and his Doduo learned Fury Attack.
Jonny's Quilladin and Zigzagoon got stronger, his Butterfree learned Gust, his Panpour learned Fury Swipes, his Charmander learned Dragon Rage, and his Gulpin learned Sludge. His Zigzagoon also picked up a couple of Super Potions as well. Jonny's Charmander suddenly began to glow.
"Hey, everyone! Charmander's evolving!" said Jonny. Kevin, Rolf, and Nazz gathered around Jonny and watched as his Charmander began to grow. When Charmander stopped glowing, he was bigger, was now a reddish orange color, claws on his fingers and toes and had a horn sticking out of the back of his head. "Cool." He takes out the pokedex and points it at his newly evolved Charmander.
"Charmeleon, the Lizard Pokemon, and the evolved form of Charmander. When it swings its burning tail, it elevates the air temperature to unbearably high levels." said the pokedex.
"Rolf congratulates you, Jonny." said Rolf.
Rolf's Braixen learned Psybeam, his Bunnelby and Pidgey got a little stronger, his Beedrill learned Focus Energy and Twineedle, and his Squirtle learned Bubble. As he trained, his Bunnelby picked up a shiny, yellow orb-like object.
"What is this?" asked Rolf. The others look at it.
"Don't know, dude." said Kevin. "Maybe someone at a PokeMart would know."
"Rolf will ask next time he's at a PokeMart." said Rolf.
Nazz's Pokemon also got stronger from the training. Her Skitty learned Sing and Double Slap. As she continued to train her Pokemon, she sees a panda-like Pokemon walking out of the grass.
"Hey. Can you toss me the pokedex, Rolf?" asked Nazz.
"Very well." said Rolf. He takes the pokedex out of his pocket and tosses it to Nazz. She catches it and points it at the Pokemon.
"Pancham, the Playful Pokemon. It does its level best to glare and pull a scary face, but it can't help grinning if anyone pats its head." said the pokedex. Nazz turns to Ralts.
"You up for a battle, little dudette?" asked Nazz. Ralts nods in response. They look at Pancham who takes a fighting stance. "So you're up for a battle too, huh? Okay, Ralts, use Confusion!" Ralts eyes glowed blue and Pancham gets knocked into the ground, being dealt super effective damage. Pancham runs at Ralts and does open palm strikes to her, but not doing much damage to her. "Use Tackle, Ralts!" Ralts runs at Pancham and rams it, knocking it to the ground. Nazz takes an empty pokeball out of her pocket and throws it at Pancham. It hits the Pancham and sucks it into the pokeball. After it wiggled around a few times, it clicks, indicating Pancham's capture. She picks up Pancham's pokeball. "Awesome! I caught a Pancham!"
"Way to go, Nazz!" said Kevin. Pancham's pokeball vanishes due to Nazz already having six Pokemon with her. Nazz uses the pokedex to learn more about her new Pancham.
"Okay, like my new Pancham's a fighting type, she's a girl, she knows Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, and Work Up. She has the Iron Fist ability, which powers up her punching moves." said Nazz.
"That's so cool." said Jonny.
"Yes. Rolf is proud of Nazz." said Rolf.
"Come on. Let's get to Camphrier Town to a Pokemon Center to get our Pokemon treated." said Kevin.
"Sure, Kevin." said Jonny. The gang returned their Pokemon to their pokeballs and they continue travelling west towards their destination, Camphrier Town.
