Snorlax and the Battle Chateau
Kevin, Jonny with Plank, Rolf, and Nazz are travelling down Route 6. Now that they have the PokeFlute, they can give it to the man at the bridge so he can use it to wake up the sleeping Snorlax that's blocking the bridge to get it out of the way so they can continue travelling to Cyllage City.
"I hope this flute can wake that Snorlax up." said Nazz.
"Yeah, or else we'll never get to Cyllage City." said Kevin. When they got to the bridge, they see the man from Shabboneau Castle who turns when he hears the Cul-De-Sac kids approaching.
"Hi, kids." said the man. "Did you have any luck getting the PokeFlute?"
"Yeah, dude." said Nazz as she pulls the PokeFlute out of her backpack and hands it to the man.
"Excellent." said the man. "Just so you know, a Snorlax can be very cranky when it wakes up, so be ready for a battle."
"You got it." said Kevin as he releases his Fletchinder, Rolf releases his Bunnelby, Jonny releases his Quilladin, and Nazz releases her Litleo.
"Okay, we're ready." said Jonny. The man nods and starts playing the PokeFlute. A minute later, the Snorlax wakes up, and glares at the man, and kids.
"This Snorlax looks as big and fierce as Rolf's nana." said Rolf. The Snorlax leaps at the Cul-De-Sac kids' Pokemon who narrowly dodge it.
"Whoa! How can something that heavy move so quickly?" asked Nazz.
"Who knows?" asked Kevin. "But we don't have time to wonder about that."
"Bunnelby, use Leer!" said Rolf. Bunnelby stares harshly at the Snorlax, making it nervous, and lowering its defense.
"Good move, dude." said Kevin. "Fletchinder, use Peck!" Fletchinder flies at the Snorlax and rams his beak into its belly.
"Quilladin, use Vine Whip!" said Jonny. Vines come out of Quilladin's neck and they strike the Snorlax.
"Litleo, use Ember!" said Nazz. Litleo opens her mouth and launches bits of fire out of it which then hits Snorlax, but didn't look like it did a lot to it.
"That Snorlax must be male." said Kevin. "Litleo's Rivalry ability must make her attacks weaker against it."
"Well that won't stop us!" said Nazz.
"Right on." said Jonny. The Snorlax then charges at the Pokemon and rams into them, knocking them all to the ground.
"Hey! You little dudes and dudette okay?" asked Nazz. Their Pokemon get up and nod. "Okay, Litleo; use Noble Roar!" Litleo lets out a loud roar, scaring the Snorlax, and weakens its attack strengths.
"Good move, Nazz." said Kevin. "The Rivalry ability won't do a thing to that move. Okay, Fletchinder, use Flail!" Fletchinder starts flailing around wildly and it strikes the Snorlax, knocking it onto its back. Kevin then quickly takes a pokeball out of his backpack and throws it at the Snorlax, hitting it, and sucking it in. The pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking, indicating a successful capture.
"Awesome! You caught Snorlax!" said Jonny. Kevin runs over and picks up the pokeball, which then gets teleported to storage.
"Oh yeah." said Nazz. "You already have six Pokemon with you." Kevin then takes out the pokedex and looks up his new Snorlax's information.
"We know that my new Snorlax is a guy, he knows Tackle, Defense Curl, Amnesia, and Lick. He has the Thick Fat ability which makes him able to handle fire and ice type moves easier." said Kevin. The man then walks over to the kids.
"Great job, kids." said the man. "Not only did you retrieve the PokeFlute, you made it so that Snorlax can't cause trouble here again."
"No problem." said Jonny. Just then, the man from Parfum Palace walks over to them with his Furfrou.
"Greetings." said the man from Parfum Palace.
"Hi." replied the man from Shabboneau Castle.
"I heard how well you played the PokeFlute." said the man from Parfum Palace.
"Thank you." said the man from Shabboneau Castle. "And thanks for letting us use it to wake that Snorlax." The man then hands the PokeFlute to the man from Parfum Palace who then pushes it back towards him.
"I think you should keep it." said the Parfum Palace man. "You've been playing that PokeFlute since you were little." He then turn towards his Furfrou. "And my Furfrou also likes the sound of that flute. So I'll let you take care of that flute."
"Thank you." replied the Shabboneau Castle man. The men and the Furfrou then left to return to their homes, leaving the Cul-De-Sacs kids by themselves.
"So can we go to Cyllage City now?" asked Jonny.
"Now that Snorlax is not blocking the bridge anymore, sure." said Kevin. They returned their Pokemon to their pokeballs and continued walking up Route 7. They soon reached a field of flowers.
"Oh, those flowers look so beautiful." said Nazz.
"I wonder if there's any Pokemon there?" asked Kevin. He got his answer when a black and blue Pokemon with a red band behind its head, blue wings, curly yellow and black striped antennaes, and a yellow, spherical tail flies out of flowers. "What's that?" He pulls out the pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Volbeat, the Firefly Pokemon. It lives around clean ponds. At night, its rear lights up. It converses with others by flashing its light." said the pokedex. Kevin pulls a pokeball out of his pocket.
"Frogadier, you're up!" said Kevin, throwing Frogadier's pokeball and releasing him. "Okay, Frogadier, use Pound!" Frogadier leaps at Volbeat with an arm raised. Volbeat suddenly glowed white and multiple Volbeats appeared.
"Oh man, I think that was Double Team." said Nazz. Frogadier swings at a Volbeat, but it was only a copy. One of the Volbeats flies at Frogadier and rams him.
"Use Smokescreen!" said Kevin. Frogadier opens his mouth and releases a thick black smoke from it, covering the area. Volbeat looks around trying to find Frogadier. "Water Pulse!" Volbeat looks towards where he heard Kevin shouting from to see a blue ball of water coming out of the smoke and hitting it. Volbeat forms a purple ball of energy between its arms and launches it at the smoke, but didn't hit anything. "Use Quick Attack!" Frogadier leaps out of the smoke at incredible speed and rams Volbeat, knocking it to the ground. Kevin takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Volbeat, hitting it. It gets sucked into the pokeball and after it wiggled around for a few seconds, it clicks, indicating Volbeat's capture. "Yes! I caught Volbeat!" Volbeat's pokeball vanishes and gets transported to storage. Kevin takes out the pokedex and uses it to look up his new Volbeat's information. "Okay, this says Volbeat's a bug type, it's a guy, he knows Flash, Tackle, Double Team, Confuse Ray, and Moonlight. He has the Illuminate ability which makes it more likely to meet wild Pokemon."
"Hey, Kevin, give me the pokedex, quick!" said Nazz. Kevin, Jonny, and Rolf turn to see Nazz looking at a Pokemon that was similar to Volbeat, but was a lighter shade of blue, black, a purple band behind its head, and short yellow antennaes. Kevin gives Nazz the pokedex and she points it at the Pokemon.
"Illumise, the Firefly Pokemon. With its sweet aroma, it guides Volbeat to draw signs with light in the night sky." said the pokedex.
"It's a female version of Volbeat." said Nazz. She pulls a pokeball out of her pocket. "Let's go, Farfetch'd." She throws Farfetch'd's pokeball and releases him. "Farfetch'd, Aerial Ace!" Farfetch'd flies at Illumise while being surrounded by white streaks of energy and hits Illumise, dealing super effective damage. Illumsie flies at Farfetch'd and hugs him, making him smile and lowering his attack strength. "Farfetch'd, use Fury Attack!" Farfetch'd repeatedly jabs Illumise with his leek and knocks Illumise to the ground. Nazz takes an empty pokeball out of her pocket and throws it at Illumise, hitting it. It clicks a few seconds later, indicating Illumise's capture. "Awesome! I caught an Illumise!" Illumise's pokeball vanishes. Nazz then uses the pokedex to learn more about her new Illumise. "Okay, like, my Illumise is a bug, she knows Tackle, Play Nice, Sweet Scent, Charm, and Moonlight; she also has the Oblivious ability, which prevents her from being under the Attract condition and being taunted."
"Good work, Nazz." said Kevin.
"Thanks, Kevin." replied Nazz. As they all continue walking down Route 7, they soon come across what looked like a small mansion built right on the river.
"Whoa! Check that place out!" said Jonny.
"What's that place?" asked Nazz.
"Don't know." said Kevin.
"Should we check it out?" asked Nazz.
"We don't know if we can just walk in." said Kevin.
"Let's try at least. There could be something cool inside." said Nazz.
"Yeah, let's do it." said Jonny.
"Fine." said Kevin. The kids walk to the mansion's front door and walk inside. Upon entering, they see the Santalune City gym leader, Viola, talking to a man. She turns towards them when she hears them entering.
"Oh, hey." said Viola. She walks over to them.
"Hey, Viola. Haven't seen you since our gym battle." said Nazz.
"Yeah. So what's your title in the nobility?" asked Viola.
"Pardon?" replied Nazz.
"You don't have a title?" asked Viola. "That's surprising. I would assume someone as strong as you should have one. You see, your title here at the Battle Chateau shows everyone just how strong you are."
"Battle Chateau? Is that what this place is?" asked Nazz.
"Yes. Only a handful of trainers can join the ranks of the nobility and earn these titles." said Viola. The man Viola was talking to walks over to them.
"Lady Viola, are you acquainted with this young lady?" asked the man.
"Yes. Nazz here has defeated me in a gym battle." replied Viola.
"Then it would appear Lady Viola has recognized your ability as a trainer then." said the man. "It is a pleasure to meet you, my lady. My name is Hennessy."
"Nice to meet you, sir." said Nazz. "I'm Nazz."
"Lady Nazz. A fine name." said Mr. Hennessy.
"I will gladly recommend Nazz, so will you grant her a beginning title?" asked Viola. "She has the makings of a very strong trainer, so I'm sure she will contribute to the Battle Chateau."
"Of course, ma'am." said Mr. Hennessy. "If you are willing to speak for her, Lady Viola, then that is more than sufficient."
"Cool." said Nazz.
"Lady Nazz! I hereby grant you the title of Baroness!" said Mr Hennessy.
"Right on!" said Jonny.
"Would you wait here a minute?" asked Mr Hennessy.
"Sure." said Nazz. Mr. Hennessy left the room. He returns a few minutes later, carrying a white cape with a pokeball shape medal on it and gives it to Nazz.
"What's this?" asked Nazz.
"All Barons and Baronesses wear white capes to symbolize their rankings." replied Mr. Hennessy.
"Cool!" said Nazz. She takes the cape and puts it on.
"To increase in rank here, you will need to battle a sufficient number of trainers to do so." explained Mr. Hennessy.
"That sounds easy." said Nazz.
"I'm certain there are some trainers here at the Battle Chateau right now." said Mr. Hennessy.
"Rad! I'll go look for some right now." said Nazz as she and the others start looking around the Battle Chateau. She enters the first room she comes to and finds a blonde girl, wearing a blue dress, white sunhat, and a Baroness cape.
"Greetings." said the girl. "Who might you be?"
"I'm Nazz." said Nazz.
"Hmm. A common name, which is best suited for a 'commoner' such as yourself." said the girl in a smug tone of voice, making Nazz frown.
"Not cool. I may not be as fancy as you, but I'll bet I can easily beat you in a Pokemon battle." said Nazz.
"I suppose I can afford the time to humble you in a Pokemon battle." said the girl as she pulls a pokeball out of her purse, and throws it, releasing an Illumise.
"You have an Illumise, too?" asked Nazz.
"Indeed." replied the girl. "I assume that you do as well."
"Yeah, but she's in storage right now." said Nazz as she pulls a pokeball out of her pocket. She then throws it, releasing her Litleo.
"Go get her, Nazz!" said Kevin. Nazz looks at Kevin and nods.
"Okay, Litleo. Use Headbutt!" said Nazz. Litleo runs at the Illumise and rams her head into her, knocking her back, and making her flinch.
"Hey. Since Illumise is a girl, Litleo's Rivalry ability will make her attacks stronger against Illumise." said Kevin.
"Rad!" said Nazz. "Okay, Litleo. Finish this with Ember!" Litleo opens her mouth and releases bits of fire out of it, hitting the Illumise, and doing super effective damage and more, thanks to her Rivalry ability. The attack proved too much for the Illumise and she passes out, leaving the girl in stunned shock.
"You did well, Nazz girl." said Rolf. The girl then returns her Illumise to her pokeball, then walks over to Nazz.
"It appears that I was the one who was humbled." said the girl. She reaches into her purse and pulls out a large amount of pokedollars.
"Whoa! That's a lot of cash!" said Jonny.
"Yes. The people who usually come here are high up the social ladder, and have large amounts of money with them." explained the girl.
"Then this would be a great place to earn money for our journey, you guys." said Nazz. Nazz then battles a few more barons and baronesses and defeated them. With each battle, her Pokemon got stronger. She was now facing a boy with a light brown suit and tie, a white dress shirt, and a Baron cape. The boy pulls a pokeball out of his pocket.
"Sentret, please come out." said the boy, throwing the pokeball and releasing a brown, mammalian Pokemon with a white ring on its belly.
"What's that?" asked Nazz. She pulls the pokedex out of her backpack and points it at the Pokemon.
"Sentret, the Scout Pokemon. It stands on its tail so it can see a long way. If it spots an enemy, it cries loudly to warn its kind." said the pokedex.
"Come on out, Ralts!" said Nazz, throwing Ralts pokeball and releasing her.
"Sentret, use Quick Attack." said the boy. Sentret leaps at Ralts with incredible speed and rams into her, knocking her back.
"Ralts, use Confusion!" said Nazz. Ralts eyes glow purple and Sentret becomes surrounded by a purple glow. It gets lifted up and gets slammed onto the floor. Sentret gets up and begins stumbling around dizzily.
"Oh dear. It looks as if my Sentret is confused." said the boy. "Well we won't let that stop us. Sentret, Fury Swipes." Unfortunately, confusion gets the better of Sentret and it repeatedly scratches itself repeatedly.
"Ralts, Tackle!" said Nazz. Ralts jumps at Sentret and rams it, knocking it to the ground. Sentret struggles to get up.
"Sentret, Scratch." said the boy. Sentret fights through its confusion and leaps at Ralts.
"Double Team!" said Nazz. Ralts glows white and multiple copies of Ralts appears. Sentret swipes at one of the Raltses, but it was only a copy. "Tackle!" The real Ralts leaps at Sentret from behind and rams it, knocking it to the floor with swirly eyes.
"Drat. It appears you are the victor." said the boy.
"Awesome." said Nazz.
"You go, Nazz!" said Jonny. The boy returns Sentret to its pokeball and walks over to Nazz.
"A fine battle, Lady Nazz." said the boy.
"Thanks." said Nazz. The boy gives Nazz pokedollars and walks away. The pokedex suddenly chimes. Nazz takes it out and looks at it. "Okay, this says my Ralts just learned Lucky Chant."
"Awesome." said Kevin.
"I think we spent enough time here, you guys." said Nazz.
"Yeah, let's get going." said Kevin.
"Yes. Rolf wishes to get to Cyllage City for our gym battles." said Rolf. As they neared the front doors, a woman in a maid outfit walks over to Nazz.
"Excuse me, Lady Nazz." said the woman.
"Yeah?" replied Nazz.
"Before you leave, I have pleasing news to share." said the woman.
"What is it?" asked Nazz.
"Due to your recent excellence in battles, you have been granted the higher title of Viscountess." said the woman, holding up a blue cape with a pokeball medal on it.
"Awesome!" replied Nazz. She takes off her Baroness cape and gives it to the woman. Nazz then puts the Viscountess cape on in its place.
"My heartiest congratulations, Viscountess Nazz." said the woman. "Do you plan to do more battles for a higher ranking."
"Maybe some other time." said Nazz. "I have a feeling the Viscounts and Viscountesses Pokemon will be much stronger, so I want to train my Pokemon some more. Plus, I don't want to keep my friends waiting for their gym battles at the Cyllage Gym. Maybe after that gym battle, I'll come back here."
"As you wish, Viscountess Nazz." said the woman. She then walks away. Nazz turns back towards the others.
"Let's go, guys." said Nazz.
"Yeah." said Kevin. The gang exits the Battle Chateau, and they continue travelling on Route 7 on their way to Cyllage City.
