Changing Course
After leaving the Battle Chateau, the Cul-De-Sac kids continued their way down Route 6. They soon reached a mountainside and see a tunnel opening. A sign said that it lead straight to Cyllage City.
"Awesome." said Kevin. "We're almost there."
"I can't wait to get my next gym badge." said Jonny.
"Rolf is also eager to win his next badge." said Rolf.
"Well let's get going." said Nazz. "The sooner we get there, the sooner we can challenge the gym."
"Good call." said Kevin. As they head down the tunnel, they soon reached a large hole that stretched over a large section of the tunnel floor, behind it was a large rock.
"What's with the hole?" asked Jonny.
"How are we supposed to get to Cyllage City?" asked Kevin. Just then, a man walks over to them.
"There is another path that takes you to Ambrette Town." said the man.
"Ambrette Town?" replied Nazz.
"It's a town alongside a beach. If you travel north from there, you can get to Cyllage City." explained the man.
"How do we get to this path?" asked Kevin.
"Head out where you came in and head south along the mountain side and you'll soon see another cave opening. Go through that and you'll reach Route 8, go down it and you'll reach Ambrette Town." said the man.
"Thanks, man." said Kevin. The group then exits the mountain and follow the man's instructions until they reach the tunnel opening and enter it. As they head down the tunnel, a green Pokemon with tusk jumps out in front of them. Kevin takes out the pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Axew, the Tusk Pokemon. They mark their territory by leaving gashes in trees with their tusks. If a tusk breaks, a new one grows in quickly." said the pokedex.
"Can I try catching this one?" asked Jonny.
"Go right ahead, Jonny Boy." said Kevin as he, Rolf, and Nazz step aside. Jonny takes out his Charmeleon's pokeball and releases him.
"Charmeleon, use Dragon Rage!" said Jonny. Charmeleon opens his mouth and forms a purple ball of energy in it. He launches it at Axew, hitting it, dealing super effective damage due to dragon type moves being strong against dragon type Pokemon. Axew gets up and its claws glow green. It dives at Charmeleon and hits him twice with its claws. "Use Scratch!" Charmeleon runs at Axew and scratches it across the face, knocking it to the ground. Jonny then takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Axew. It hits it and sucks it in. After the pokeball wiggled around a few times, it clicks, indicating a successful capture. "Right on. I caught an Axew!"
"Very good, Jonny." said Rolf. Axew's pokeball vanishes due to Jonny having six Pokemon on him already.
"Can I have the pokedex, Nazz?" asked Jonny.
"Sure, Jonny." said Nazz, taking the pokedex out of her backpack and giving it to Jonny. He then uses it to learn more about Axew.
"This says Axew's a boy, he knows Scratch, Leer, Assurance, Dragon Rage, and Dual Chop. He has the Rivalry ability also." said Jonny.
"Just like my Litleo." said Nazz. The group then continue walking down the tunnel until they reached the end of the tunnel and exit it. Outside they see a natural bridge that spanned a long way. They look down from the edge of it and see how high up they really were.
"Whoa." said Jonny. "I wouldn't want to fall off this thing."
"Yeah, dude." said Kevin. He looks to the south and sees a path. "Let's just keep going."
"Okay, Kev." said Nazz. As they head down the path, a blue Pokemon with stubby arms, and gray ridges going up its head and down to the small of its back hops out of some tall grass and stands in front of them.
"What is this Pokemon?" asked Rolf. He takes out the pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Bagon, the Rock Head Pokemon. Dreaming of one day flying, it practices by leaping off cliffs every day." said the pokedex.
"Whoa. That sounds very dangerous." said Nazz.
"This Pokemon must be very tough if it can handle doing that." said Kevin.
"Rolf also admires this Pokemon's fortitude." said Rolf. He steps forward and pulls a pokeball out of his backpack.
"You gonna try and capture it, Rolf?" asked Kevin.
"Yes. Rolf is interested in this Pokemon." said Rolf. He throws the pokeball, releasing his Bunnelby.
"Do it, Rolf!" said Jonny. Rolf and Bunnelby get ready for battle.
"Bunnelby, use Take Down!" said Rolf. Bunnelby jumps at Bagon and rams into it, doing some damage, along with hurting himself with the recoil from Take Down. The Bagon runs at Bunnelby and bites down on him, damaging him, and making him flinch. The Bagon then gets angry and hits Bunnelby.
"Don't let that Bagon win, Rolf!" said Kevin.
"Bunnelby, use Mud Shot!" said Rolf. Bunnelby launches large globs of mud at the Bagon, damaging it, and reducing its speed. The Bagon looks angered by this and hits Bunnelby again even harder than before.
"Finish this quickly, Rolf!" said Kevin.
"Bunnelby, use Mud Slap!" said Rolf. Bunnelby launches mud into the Bagon's eyes, lowering its accuracy. The Bagon tries to hit Bunnelby again, but it misses. "Bunnelby, use Quick Attack!" Bunnelby moves towards the Bagon at a fast pace and slams into it, knocking it to the ground.
"Catch it, Rolf!" said Nazz. Rolf quickly pulls an empty pokeball out of his backpack, and throws it at the Bagon, hitting it, and sucking it in. The ball wiggles a few times before clicking, indicating a successful capture. Rolf runs over and picks up the pokeball.
"Rolf has captured a Bagon!" said Rolf. Bunnelby lets out a sigh of relief, then freezes up, and starts to glow.
"Hey! Bunnelby's evolving!" said Jonny. They all watch as Bunnelby starts to change. When he was done, he was bigger, stouter, his ears looked like strong arms with hands, and around his waist was a ring of brown and yellow-striped fur. Rolf points the pokedex at his newly evolved Bunnelby.
"Diggersby, the Digging Pokemon, and the evolved form of Bunnelby. As powerful as an excavator, its ears can reduce dense bedrock to rubble. When it's finished digging, it lounges lazily." said the pokedex.
"Whoa!" said Jonny. "Diggersby sounds like a powerful digger."
"Rolf is pleased." said Rolf. His new Bagon's pokeball suddenly disappears to storage.
"So, what's your new Bagon like?" asked Nazz. Rolf looks at the pokedex at his Bagon's information.
"This says my Bagon is a boy, he knows Rage, Leer, and Bite. Bagon has the Rock Head ability which this says prevents recoil-causing damage." said Rolf.
"So that means if he uses an attack that would normally hurt itself like Take Down, he won't get hurt." said Kevin.
"That sounds cool." said Jonny. He suddenly hears something coming out of the grass. He turns to see a gray, pig-like Pokemon with a pink pearl on its head, bouncing on a springlike tail of it. "Hey, Rolf, hand me the pokedex. Rolf gives Jonny the pokedex and he points it at the Pokemon.
"Spoink, the Bounce Pokemon. It bounces around on its tail to keep its heart pumping. It carries a pearl from Clamperl on its head." said the pokedex. Jonny pulls a pokeball out of his pocket.
"I'm going to catch this Pokemon. Go, Zigzagoon!" said Jonny, throwing Zigzagoon's pokeball and releasing him. Spoink faces Zigzagoon while bouncing. "Zigzagoon, Tackle!" Zigzagoon runs at Spoink and rams it, knocking it back, but landing on its tail and keeps bouncing. Spoink releases a beam of multicolored energy, and it hits Zigzagoon, hitting him. "Okay, Zigzagoon, hit that Spoink with Headbutt!" Zigzagoon runs at Spoink and rams his head into it, sending it flying, but it still landed on its tail and kept bouncing, but slower. Jonny takes an empty pokeball out of his pocket and throws it at Spoink. It hits Spoink and it gets sucked into the pokeball. After it wiggled around a few times, it clicks and stops, indicating Spoink's capture. "Right on! I caught a Spoink.
"Awesome, Jonny." said Kevin. Zigzagoon suddenly freezes and he begins to glow.
"Hey! Zigzagoon's evolving!" said Jonny. Everyone watches as Zigzagoon begins to change. When he stopped glowing, he was now longer, mostly white fur with brown stripes, and had long claws. Jonny points the pokedex at his newly evolved Zigzagoon.
"Linoone, the Rush Pokemon, and the evolved form of Zigzagoon. It charges prey at speeds over 60 mph. However, because it can only run straight, it often fails." said the pokedex.
"Congratulations, Jonny." said Nazz. Jonny returns Linoone to his pokeball and uses the pokedex to learn more about his new Spoink.
"Okay, this says Spoink is a psychic type, it's a girl, she knows Splash, Psywave, Odor Sleuth, and Psybeam. She has the Thick Fat damage, which reduces the damage done by fire and ice type attacks." said Jonny.
"Radical." said Kevin. He suddenly hears something coming from the grass. He turns to see a bipedal Pokemon with white fur with red markings on it, long black claws on its forearms, and long ears. "Hey, Jonny, hand me the pokedex. Jonny hands the pokedex to Kevin and he points it at the Pokemon.
"Zangoose, the Cat Ferret Pokemon. Its fur would all stand on end if it smelled a Seviper nearby. Its sharp claws tear up its foes." said the pokedex. Kevin pulls a pokeball out of his pocket.
"This Pokemon's mine. Ivysaur, go!" said Kevin, throwing Ivysaur's pokeball and releasing him. The Zangoose charges at Ivysaur with incredible speed and rams him. "That looked like Quick Attack. Ivysaur, Leech Seed!" Ivysaur shoots a seed out of the bud on his back, and it hits Zangoose. The seed opens up and small leafy vines sprouts out of it and they wrap around Zangoose. The vines glow red and sucks energy out of Zangoose and into Ivysaur, healing his wounds. Zangoose's claws glow light green and it charges at Ivysaur and slashes him. "Ivysaur, Poison Powder!" Ivysaur releases purple powder from his bud, and it falls onto Zangoose, but it didn't seem to do anything to it, surprising Kevin. The vines from Leech Seed drains more energy from Zangoose, healing Ivysaur's wound. Zangoose charges at Ivysaur and slashes him with its claws. "Use Vine Whip!" Two vines come out from under Ivysaur's bud, and they strike Zangoose. It gets more of its energy drained and gets absorbed into Ivysaur. "Take Down!" Ivysaur charges at Zangoose and rams it in the gut, knocking him to the ground. Ivysaur flinches in pain from the recoil damage from Take Down. Leech Seed drains more of Zangoose's energy. Kevin takes an empty pokeball out of his pocket and throws it at Zangoose. It hits Zangoose and sucks it in. The pokeball wiggled around a few times before it clicked, indicating Zangoose's capture. "Righteous. I caught a Zangoose."
"Right on." said Jonny. Zangoose's pokeball vanishes due to Kevin already having six Pokemon with him. He then uses the pokedex to learn more about his new Zangoose.
"Okay, this says Zangoose is a normal type, it's a girl, she knows Scratch, Leer, Quick Attack, Fury Cutter, and Pursuit. She has the Immunity ability, which make her immune to poisoning. That explains why Poison Powder didn't work on her." The group then continue travelling down Route 8. As they did, Diggersby and Linoone kept finding items with their Pickup abilities. Diggersby found two Potions and a golden ball while Linoone found a Super Potion and another golden ball. They also continued to train their Pokemon, their Pokemon getting stronger by the minute. Nazz's Farfetch'd learned Slash and her Litleo learned Take Down. As they trained, Nazz's Flabebe began to glow.
"You guys! Flabebe's evolving!" said Nazz.
"Whoa. Three evolutions in one day." said Kevin. They watched as it changed. When the glowing stopped, Flabebe was now a little bigger, a green leaf-like eyelash on each of her eyes, her tail was spade shaped, she had mitten-like hands, her pollen bead crown was gone, and she now carried her flower instead of riding on it.
"Awesome. Hand me the pokedex, Kevin." said Nazz. Kevin gives Nazz the pokedex and she points it at her newly evolved Flabebe.
"Floette, the Fairy Pokemon, and the evolved form of Flabebe. When the flowers of a well-tended flower bed bloom, it appears and celebrates with an elegant dance." said the pokedex.
"Congratulations on Flabebe's evolution, Nazz." said Kevin.
"Thanks, Kevin." replied Nazz. They continued walking down Route 8 until they finally reached their destination; Ambrette Town.
