Ambrette Town and Jonny's Rival
Once the group entered Ambrette Town, the first thing they did was look for a Pokemon Center to have their Pokemon treated. Once they found one, they went inside. Once inside, Jonny walk over to the Pokemon Center's PC and uses it to transfer his Panpour to storage and putting his Nincada in his place. Once the group gave the nurse their Pokemon, Rolf walks over to the PokeMart.
"Hello. How may I help you?" asked the shop clerk. Rolf reaches into his backpack and pulls out the golden ball his Diggersby found.
"Do you know what this is?" asked Rolf, showing the clerk the golden ball. The clerk's eyes widen.
"Why that's a Nugget." replied the clerk.
"Of what use is this Nugget?" asked Rolf.
"You can sell that at a PokeMart for 5,000 pokedollars." replied the shop clerk.
"Son of a gun!" replied Rolf.
"Would you like to sell your Nugget?" asked the shop clerk.
"Sold." replied Rolf, slamming the Nugget onto the counter. The clerk takes the Nugget and gives Rolf 5,000 pokedollars. Rolf buys five pokeballs with the money. After Rolf walks away, Jonny walks over to the counter and sells the Nugget his Linoone found. Like Rolf, Jonny also buys five pokeballs. After that, the group went to the cafeteria for lunch. As they ate, Jonny looks at Plank who was sitting next to him.
"Boy, Plank, this Pokemon trainer stuff is great." said Jonny. "We get to travel this region, catching Pokemon, eating and sleeping at Pokemon Centers for free, selling valuable stuff for lots of..." He was suddenly cut off when he hears someone laughing. He looks over to see a dark-skinned boy with black braids, wearing a red t-shirt over a light gray, long sleeved shirt, beige cargo pants, and red and black sneakers, looking at him, laughing. "What's so funny?"
"You do realize that's a piece of wood you're talking to." said the boy.
"Who are you?" asked Jonny, getting Kevin, Rolf, and Nazz's attention.
"The name's Tony." replied the boy, now identified as Tony. "And I recommend you seeing a psychiatrist."
"Why?" asked Jonny.
"For talking to a board." replied Tony, pointing at Plank. Jonny looks at Plank.
"You mean, Plank?" replied Jonny. "He's my friend."
"Oh, please. The only thing that piece of kindling is meant to be is a doorstop." said Tony. Jonny glares at Tony, making him smirk. "What? You got a problem with what I just said?"
"You bet I do!" replied Jonny.
"Then how about after we're done eating, we go to Route 8 and have a Pokemon battle." said Tony.
"You're on!" said Jonny. After they were done eating, the group and Tony pick up their Pokemon from the nurse and exited the Pokemon Center. Soon they arrived at Route 8. Jonny holds Plank out to Kevin. "Will you hold on to Plank for me, Kevin?"
"Sure, man." said Kevin, grabbing Plank. Jonny looks at Plank.
"Don't worry, Plank. I'll teach this meanie a lesson for you." said Jonny.
"Come on, weirdo, I haven't got all day." said Tony. Jonny frowns at him and walks until he's several feet from him.
"So how many Pokemon are we using?" asked Jonny.
"How does two sound?" asked Tony.
"Sounds good to me." said Jonny. Jonny pulls a pokeball out of his pocket while Tony pulls a Net Ball out of his pocket. "Go, Linoone!" He throws Linoone's pokeball and releases him.
"Go, Corphish!" said Tony, throwing the Net Ball and releasing a red, lobster-like Pokemon.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Nazz, pulling out the pokedex from her backpack and pointing it at the Pokemon.
"Corphish, the Ruffian Pokemon. Its hardy vitality enables it to adapt to any environment. Its pincers will never release prey." said the pokedex.
"Okay, Linoone, use Growl!" said Jonny. Linoone opens his mouth and releases a loud cry, releasing soundwaves onto Corphish, but it didn't seem to do anything to it.
"Nice try. My Corphish has the Hyper Cutter ability. It prevents his attack strength from being lowered." said Tony. "Okay, Corphish, Vice Grip!" Corphish leaps at Linoone and grabs his head with his pincer and begins squeezing it, hurting Linoone.
"Linoone, Tail Whip!" said Jonny. Linoone wags his tail onto Corphish, weakening his defense. "I may not be able to weaken your Corphish's attack strength, but I can still weaken his defense."
"Bubble Beam!" said Tony. Corphish aims his free pincer at Linoone and opens it, releasing multiple glowing bubbles from it and hitting Linoone.
"Heatbutt!" said Jonny. Linoone pulls his head free from Corphish's pincer and rams his head into Corphish's face, knocking him back, and making him flinch. "Tackle!" Linoone runs at Corphish.
"Harden!" said Tony. Corphish begins to glow and his body shines, increasing his defense before Linoone's Tackle hits him, knocking him back.
"Bubble!" said Tony. Corphish aims one of his pincers at Linoone and opens it, releasing bubbles from it, and hitting Linoone.
"Headbutt one more time!" said Jonny. Linoone runs at Corphish and rams his head into Corphish, knocking him to the ground with swirly eyes.
"No, Corphish!" exclaimed Tony.
"Way to go, Linoone!" said Jonny.
"Linoone!" cheered Linoone. Tony returns Corphish to his Net Ball. He puts it in his pocket and pulls a pokeball out of another pocket.
"Come out, Loudred!" said Tony, throwing the pokeball and releasing a purple, bipedal Pokemon with a large mouth and round ears on top of its head. Nazz points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Loudred, the Big Voice Pokemon. The shock waves from its cries can tip over trucks. It stamps its feet to power up." said the pokedex.
"Oh, and don't even bother using Growl." said Tony. "My Loudred had the Soundproof ability, which makes him immune to his opponent's sound-based moves. Oh, speaking of sound-based moves, Loudred, use Howl!" Loudred lets out a loud howl and he begins surging with energy.
"Careful, Jonny. Howl increases the attack strength of the Pokemon that uses it." said Rolf. "Rolf knows this because Rolf's Braixen has that move."
"Thanks, Rolf." said Jonny. "Okay, Linoone, Headbutt!" Linoone runs at Loudred and rams his head into it, making it take a step back. Unfortunately, Loudred doesn't flinch.
"Loudred, use Bite!" said Tony. Loudred runs at Linoone and bites him in the abdomen, doing more damage than it normally would due to Howl increasing Loudred's strength. It proved too much for Linoone and he passes out.
"Linoone!" said Jonny.
"Ha! One down, one to go." said Tony. Jonny returns Linoone to his pokeball.
"You were great out there." said Jonny.
"Are you talking to Linoone or the pokeball?" asked Tony. Jonny frowns at Tony while putting Linoone's pokeball away and pulling out another one.
"Go, Quilladin!" said Jonny, throwing Quilladin's pokeball and releasing him. "Quilladin, Leech Seed!" Quilladin shoots a seed from his mouth and onto Loudred's chest. It opens up and small leafy vines come out of it and they wrap around Loudred.
"Loudred, use Uproar!" said Tony. Loudred yells out and releases blue soundwaves and they hit Quilladin. The vines from Leech Seed glow red and begin sucking energy from Loudred and onto Quilladin, healing some of his wounds.
"Pin Missile!" said Jonny. The spikes on Quilladin's head glow white and they release white orbs followed by green streams of energy and they hit Loudred. Loudred lets out another yell and releases more blue soundwaves and they hit Quilladin. "Why did Loudred use Uproar when you didn't tell it to?"
"When a Pokemon uses Uproar, it uses it three times in a row without being told to." replied Tony.
"Oh." said Jonny. Leech Seed drains some energy from Loudred and onto Quilladin, healing some of his wounds. "Quilladin, use Bite!" said Jonny. Quilladin runs at Loudred and bites its arm, hurting it, but not making Loudred flinch. Loudred releases one more Uproar and it hits Quilladin. Leech Seed sucks more of Loudred's energy and it gets absorbed into Quilladin, healing his wounds.
"Quilladin, Vine Whip!" said Jonny. Two vines come out of Quilladin's back and they hit Loudred, knocking him back.
"Loudred, Pound!" said Tony. Loudred runs at Quilladin with one of its arms raised and pounds Quilladin on the head, knocking him to the ground. Leech Seed once again drains more energy from Loudred and heals Quilladin. Both Pokemon were glaring at each other, breathing heavily. Quilladin suddenly becomes surrounded by a green aura.
"This must be Quilladin's Overgrow ability." said Jonny. "Okay, Quilladin, Vine Whip!" Two vines, this time surrounded by green auras come out of Quilladin's back and they strike Loudred, knocking it to the ground. It tries to get up, but it passes out.
"No way!" exclaimed Tony.
"You did it, Quilladin!" said Jonny. Quilladin lets out a sigh of relief.
"Very good, Jonny." said Rolf.
"Man, that was intense." said Kevin. Tony returns Loudred to its pokeball and puts it in his pocket. He glares at Jonny and walks over to him.
"I can't believe you beat me." said Tony.
"That'll teach you to say mean things to Plank." said Jonny.
"Whatever." said Tony. He pulls pokedollars out of his pocket and gives them to Jonny. "Next time we meet, I will beat you, so from now on, we're rivals."
"Fine!" replied Jonny. Tony turns around and walks back to Ambrette Town while Jonny glares at him. Kevin, Rolf, and Nazz walk over to him.
"Here's Plank back." said Kevin. Jonny takes Plank back while still glaring at Tony.
"Are you going to be all right, Jonny?" asked Nazz.
"I'll be fine." replied Jonny. The group then walks back towards Ambrette Town.
