Fishing and Dowsing
The next morning, Kevin, Jonny with Plank, Rolf, and Nazz got up out of bed and walked to the cafeteria for breakfast. After that, Jonny went to the Pokemon Center's PC and used it to transfer his Gulpin to storage and putting his Sandile in his place. The group then walks out of the Pokemon Center.
"Okay, so how do we get to Cyllage City from here?" asked Kevin. A man walks over to them.
"If you kids want to get to Cyllage City, you can get to the lower part of Route 8 by going through the Ambrette Aquarium over there." said the man, pointing at a large building that was next to the Pokemon Center.
"Thanks, dude." replied Nazz. The group then walk over to the aquarium and walked inside. Inside, they see several aquarium tanks displaying several water Pokemon.
"Wow, cool!" said Jonny. After looking around the aquarium for several minutes, they see two flights of stairs going down to a lower level of the aquarium and walk down it.
"So, you think we'll find some more water Pokemon you guys?" asked Nazz. Before anyone can answer, someone speaks out to them.
"So, you kids want to catch some water Pokemon?" The group look to see a man in fishing attire standing near a gold statue of fish-like Pokemon (Magikarp).
"So, what if we do?" asked Nazz. The man holds out a fishing rod.
"If you do, then I would like to lend you one of my fishing rods." replied the man.
"Are you sure?" asked Nazz.
"Sure, I'm a fishing fanatic. I've got more of these Old Rods then I could ever use." replied the man.
"Well in that, sure." said Nazz. The fisherman smiles and gives Nazz the Old Rod. "Thanks, dude."
"You're very welcome." replied the fisherman. The group then walk out another entryway that led outside. After walking down two small flights of stairs, they found themselves on a beach. Looking at the sea, Nazz looks at the Old Rod and smiles. She walks to the sea.
"What are you doing, Nazz?" asked Kevin.
"I just want to try this thing out." replied Nazz. She then casted the line of the Old Rod out into the sea. After waiting for a few seconds, something tugs on the line. "Hey, I caught something!" She pulls at the Old Rod and on the other end of the line was a pink, heart-shaped, fish-like Pokemon. "Wow, what is that?" She takes out the pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Luvdisc, the Rendezvous Pokemon. During the spawning season, countless Luvdisc congregate at coral reefs, turning the waters pink." said the pokedex.
"Awesome." said Nazz, taking out a pokeball. "I'm catching this Pokemon. Let's go, Floette." She tosses Floette's pokeball and releases her. The Luvdisc stares at Floette. "Okay, Floette, Vine Whip!" Floette swings her flower, and a green vine comes out of it and it hits Luvdisc, dealing super effective damage. Luvdisc shoots a stream of water out of its mouth, and it hits Floette. "All right, Floette, use Razor Leaf!" Floette spins her flower and green leaves come out of it and they hit Luvdisc, knocking it into the water where it floated on its side. Nazz takes an empty pokeball out of her backpack and throws it at Luvdisc, hitting it. It gets sucked into the pokeball and after it wiggled around a few times, it clicks, indicating a successful capture. "All right! I caught a Luvdisc!"
"Way to go, Nazz." said Kevin. Luvdisc's pokeball was transferred to storage. Nazz uses the pokedex to learn more about her new Luvdisc.
"Okay, my new Luvdisc is a girl, she knows Tackle, Charm, Water Gun, Agility, and Take Down. She has the Swift Swim ability which increases her speed when she's out in the rain." said Nazz. "I think I'll stick around here for a while and try to see if there are more cute water Pokemon to fish up." She casted the Old Rod back into the sea. While she was fishing, Kevin, Jonny and Rolf trained their Pokemon. During the training, Jonny's Sandile learned Assurance and Mud-Slap. As Jonny trained his Nincada, he began to glow.
"Hey, Nincada's evolving!" said Jonny. The others look as Nincada began to change. He was suddenly hovering in the air. When the glowing stopped, Nincada was now mostly black with some yellow and gray, he had two gleaming red eyes, two pairs of white wings with three red triangles on the ends of the bigger ones and a pair of gray arms and a smaller pair in the back of it. Jonny runs to Nazz.
"Can I have the pokedex, Nazz?" asked Jonny.
"Sure, dude." replied Nazz. She uses one hand to give Jonny the pokedex while using the other one to hold the Old Rod. Jonny runs back to his newly evolved Nincada and points the pokedex at him.
"Ninjask, the Ninja Pokemon and the evolved form of Nincada. Because it moves so quickly, it sometimes becomes unseeable. It congregates around tree sap." said the pokedex.
"Far out! And this also says my Ninjask is now part bug and part flying instead of part bug and part ground, and he now has the Speed Boost ability which increases his speed during battle every minute." said Jonny.
"Congratulations, Jonny." said Rolf. During the training, Rolf's Diggersby and Jonny's Linoone each found an item with their Pickup abilities.
"Hey, guys, Linoone found a Great Ball!" said Jonny.
"Rolf's Diggersby has found a Super Potion." said Rolf. Kevin looks on at them.
"Man, I wish I had a Pokemon with Pickup so I can find some cool stuff." said Kevin.
"If you want to find items, there's another way to do it besides with a Pokemon with the Pickup ability." someone says to Kevin. Kevin looks to who was speaking to him and sees a girl in a red bikini walking out of the sea, making his eyes widen and his jaw drop.
"Uh, H-Hi." stammered Kevin.
"Hi." replied the girl.
"So, uh, you said there's another way to find items?" asked Kevin.
"Sure." said the girl. The girl then walks to a red and yellow striped tote bag that was sitting on the ground near the sea and reaches into it with both hands. She pulls out a pair of white, identical devices that resemble handheld barcode scanners. "This is a Dowsing Machine. These dowsing rods will react to items that are buried in the ground." He holds them out to Kevin. "Here, I have an extra set of them, so I don't really use this one." Kevin takes the Dowsing Machine.
"So how do these work?" asked Kevin.
"Just hold down those triggers on the Dowsing Machine." said the girl. Kevin holds down the triggers and a pair of blue beams of light come out of them. "Hey, that means there's an item nearby. Keep walking towards the direction the beams are facing." Kevin does so and as he does, the beams of light turn green, and they spread apart from each other. "That means you're getting closer to the item." As Kevin continued walking near a tree, the beams of light turn yellow and spread further apart from each other. "Getting closer." Kevin continued to walk until the beams of light crossed each other and turn red onto the ground. Kevin set down the Dowsing Machine and digs through the sand where the beams of light touched down on. He finds a blue pouch that had pink dust in it.
"What's this stuff?" asked Kevin.
"Wow, that's Stardust." replied the girl. "Do you know you can sell that at a PokeMart for a thousand pokedollars?" Kevin's eyes widen.
"A thousand pokedollars?! Awesome!" exclaimed Kevin.
"You bet it is." replied the girl.
"So, you sure I can keep these?" asked Kevin.
"Sure." said the girl.
"Thanks." said Kevin. The girl smiles in response, making Kevin blush. The girl then runs to the sea and dives into a deeper part of it. Kevin spent half an hour walking around the beach with the Dowsing Machine. Kevin found a Pearl and a pokeball that was black on the top half with a yellow 'H' on it. The group then meet each other.
"So how did it go with that Old Rod, Nazz?" asked Kevin.
"All I caught was Luvdiscs, but it was good training for my Floette." said Nazz. She looks at the Old Rod. "Maybe I need a better fishing rod, this one looks kind of beat up." Kevin shows them his new Dowsing Machine and the stuff he found with it.
"Cool." said Jonny.
"Such a useful device for those without a Pokemon with the Pickup ability." said Rolf.
"Yeah." said Kevin. "Let's get going, I want to get to Cyllage City so we can take on the gym there."
"Yes. Rolf doesn't want to wait any longer to challenge the gym." said Rolf.
"Me neither." said Jonny.
"Well let's get going then." said Nazz. The group then began walking up Route 8 so they can finally get to Cyllage City to challenge the gym for their next badges.
