Cyllage City Gym Battles (Part Two)
While Kevin waits for Grant to get back, he was going over what he learned from Rolf, and Jonny's battles, what Pokemon that Grant used, and what attacks they knew. Ten minutes later, Rolf and Grant climbed back up onto the rock-climbing wall.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, Kevin." said Grant. "Are you ready for your gym battle?"
"You bet, man." said Kevin. Rolf joins Jonny and Nazz on the sidelines, while Grant goes to his side of the battle arena. The referee steps into the center of it.
"This is an official gym battle between Grant the gym leader, and Kevin the challenger." said the referee. "Each side will use two Pokemon. The battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The trainer who still has Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let the battle begin." The referee walks to the side of the arena as Kevin pulls a pokeball out of his pocket, while Grant pulls a pokeball out of his.
"Let's go, Ivysaur!" said Kevin as he releases Ivysaur from his pokeball.
"Amaura, come out!" said Grant as he releases his Amaura.
"Ivysaur, use Leech Seed!" said Kevin. Ivysaur launches seeds at Amaura, which sprout into vines that wrap around it.
"Amaura, use Powder Snow!" said Grant. Amaura releases a spray of snow at Ivysaur, hitting him, doing super effective damage, as well as lowering his speed. Suddenly, the vines around Amaura drain it of stamina and transfers it to Ivysaur, healing him a little bit.
"Ivysaur, use Sleep Powder!" said Kevin. Ivysaur releases blue dust from the bulb on his back which floats into Amaura's face. Amaura became very drowsy and falls asleep.
"Amaura! Wake up!" Grant shouts, but Amaura remains asleep. The vines on Amaura drain it of more stamina, which is then used to heal Ivysaur.
"Now's your chance, Ivysaur! Use Razor Leaf!" said Kevin. Ivysaur launches leaves at Amaura, hitting it, and doing super effective damage.
"Amaura, use Aurora Beam!" Grant shouts; but it was vain due to Amaura still being asleep. Once again, the vines on Amaura drain it of stamina, but this time it drained the last of it, healing Ivysaur, and knocking Amaura out.
"Amaura is unable to battle. Ivysaur wins." said the referee.
"Yes!" said Kevin as he does a fist pump.
"Way to go, Kevin!" said Nazz.
"Keep it up!" said Jonny. Grant returns Amaura to its pokeball.
"Rest up for now." Grant says to Amaura's pokeball. He puts it away and pulls out his last pokeball. He throws it, releasing his Tyrunt. "Tyrunt, use Bite!" Tyrunt runs at Ivysaur and bites down on him, hurting him, and making him flinch. "Now use Stomp!" Tyrunt stomps down on Ivysaur's head.
"Ivysaur, use Razor Leaf!" said Kevin. Ivysaur releases another Razor Leaf attack which hits Tyrunt.
"Good thing Tyrunt is part dragon, otherwise that would've really hurt." said Grant. "Now use Tackle!" Tyrunt runs at Ivysaur and rams into his head, making Ivysaur stagger back.
"Hurry, Ivysaur! Use Vine Whip!" said Kevin. Vines come out of Ivysaur's bulb and hit Tyrunt.
"End this with another Stomp!" said Grant. Tyrunt jumps up and brings its foot down onto Ivysaur's head, knocking him out.
"Ivysaur is unable to battle. Tyrunt is the winner." said the referee.
"Good job, Tyrunt!" said Grant. Tyrunt nods in response. Kevin returns Ivysaur to his pokeball.
"You were awesome, Ivysaur." Kevin said to Ivysaur's pokeball. He puts it back into his pocket, and pulls out his last one. He throws it, releasing his Frogadier. "Okay, Frogadier! Use Water Pulse!" Frogadier puts his hands close together and forms a sphere of water between them; he then launches it at Tyrunt, hitting and damaging it. Tyrunt suddenly starts wobbling around.
"Uh oh." said Grant. "Tyrunt's confused!"
"Awesome." said Kevin.
"But this isn't over yet!" said Grant. "Tyrunt, use Stomp!" Tyrunt tries running at Frogadier, but it trips on its own feet and falls on its chin, hurting it.
"Frogadier, use Bubble!" said Kevin. Frogadier releases a barrage of bubbles from his mouth which hit Tyrunt, damaging it enough to knock it out.
"Tyrunt is unable to battle. Frogadier is the winner. That means the winner of the gym battle is the challenger, Kevin." said the referee.
"Kevin won!" said Jonny.
"Rolf is happy for Kevin." said Rolf.
"Way to go, dude!" cheered Nazz. Frogadier runs to Kevin and the two of them high-five each other.
"You were awesome, Frogadier!" said Kevin. Frogadier smiles at Kevin. Grant returns Tyrunt to its pokeball.
"You battled your best, Tyrunt." said Grant. He puts Tyrunt's pokeball away. He then walks over to Kevin and pulls a Cliff Badge, and pokedollars, out of his pants' pocket. "You've proven your skill as a trainer and have beaten me. This Cliff Badge is rightfully yours." He hands Kevin the Cliff Badge and pokedollars, which he accepts.
"Check it out, dudes." said Kevin as he holds out his new Cliff Badge.
"Good job, Kevin." said Rolf.
"You were great!" said Jonny. Nazz then steps forward.
"Looks like it's my turn." said Nazz.
"When I get my Pokemon treated, I'll be back for our battle." said Grant.
"Yeah, I'm gonna get my Pokemon treated also." said Kevin.
"I'll be waiting." said Nazz. After Kevin and Grant left, Nazz thought about which of her Pokemon she would use.
After waiting for half an hour, Grant and Kevin climbed back onto the battle area. Grant walks to the arena while Kevin walks over to Jonny and Rolf. Nazz and Grant face each other.

Nazz pulls Floette's Great Ball out of her pocket while Grant pulls a pokeball out of his.
"Let's go, Floette!" said Nazz, throwing Floette's Great Ball and releasing her.
"Go, Amaura!" said Grant, throwing Amaura's pokeball and releasing it.
"Floette, use Razor Leaf!" said Nazz. Floette spins her flower and releases green leaves from it and they hit Amaura, dealing super effective damage to it.
"Amaura, Rock Tomb!" said Grant. Amaura becomes surrounded by a white glow and multiple gray rocks form above it. The rocks fly at Floette and hit her, damaging her and reducing her speed. "Now use Aurora Beam!" Amaura fires a multicolored ray of light out of her mouth and it hits Floette, knocking her back.
"Magical Leaf!" said Nazz. Floette begins spinning and releases glowing green leaves from her body and they hit Amaura, dealing super effective damage.
"Use Take Down!" said Grant. Amaura charges at Floette while surrounded by a golden aura and rams Floette, knocking her back. Amaura flinches in pain from Take Down's recoil damage.
"Vine Whip!" said Nazz. Floette swings her flower and a green vine comes out of it and it hits Amaura, dealing super effective damage and knocking it out.
"Amaura is unable to battle. Floette wins." said the referee.
"Awesome!" cheered Nazz. Floette spins around happily. Grant returns Amaura to its pokeball.
"You were great, Amaura." said Grant. He puts Amaura's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Go, Tyrunt." He throws Tyrunt's pokeball and releases it. "Okay, Tyrunt, use Stomp!" Tyrunt runs at Floette and leaps towards her. He stomps Floette into the ground. Fortunately for Floette, Stomp didn't make her flinch.
"Use Wish!" said Nazz. Floette begins muttering something while her eyes were closed. A ball of light shoots up from Floette's flower and into the sky through an opening on the gym's ceiling. Jonny, Rolf, and Kevin look up towards where the ball of light went.
"Um, what does that move do?" asked Jonny.
"No clue, man." replied Kevin.
"Rock Tomb!" said Grant. Tyrunt becomes surrounded by a white aura and gray rocks form above it. The rocks fly at Floette and they hit her. Floette begins breathing heavily.
"Use Fairy Wind!" said Nazz. Floette holds her flower out towards Tyrunt and spins it, releasing a sparkling pink gust of wind out of it and it hits Tyrunt, dealing super effective damage. "Good thing Tyrunt's part dragon. They're weak against fairy type moves."
"But can your Floette last any longer against Tyrunt?" asked Grant. Suddenly, the ball of light Floette shot into the sky come down and onto Floette. She begins to glow and some of her wounds heal.
"Looks like Wish has taken effect." said Nazz.
"What does Wish do, Nazz?" asked Kevin.
"It's a delayed move." said Nazz. "It takes a little while to take effect, and when it does, it restores most of the energy of the Pokemon that uses it." She turns towards Grant. "I think my Floette can last a little longer."
"Tyrunt, use Stomp!" said Grant. Tyrunt leaps up towards Floette.
"Dodge it." said Nazz. Floette floats back and Tyrunt stomps onto the ground instead. "Use Magical Leaf!" Floette spins around and releases glowing green leaves and they hit Tyrunt, knocking it back.
"Good thing Tyrunt being part dragon keeps him from recieving more damage from grass type moves." said Grant. "Now, Tyrunt, Tail Whip!" Tyrunt leaps at Floette and wags its tail onto her, weakening her defense.
"Fairy Wind!" said Nazz. Floette spins her flower and releases another gust of pink wind from it and it hits Tyrunt, dealing super effective damage. Tyrunt struggles to remain on its feet.
"Bite!" said Grant. Tyrunt runs at Floette and bites her, dealing a moderate amount of damage due to her defense being weakened and Tyrunt's Strong Jaw ability making Bite stronger. Bite doesn't cause Floette to flinch. Floette struggles to stay afloat.
"I better end this now." said Nazz. "Floette, one more Magical Leaf!" Floette spins around and releases more glowing green leaves and they hit Tyrunt, dealing critical damage and knocking it out.
"No way!" exclaimed Grant.
"Tyrunt is unable to battle. Floette wins. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Nazz." said the referee.
"We did it, Floette!" said Nazz. Floette smiles happily.
"That was awesome!" said Kevin.
"She beat Grant with just one Pokemon!" said Jonny. He looks at Plank. "Plank's cheering for you, Nazz."
"Rolf is impressed with Nazz's performance." said Rolf. Grant returns Tyrunt to its pokeball.
"You did well, Tyrunt." said Grant. He puts Tyrunt's pokeball away and walks over to Nazz. "That was an incredible battle, Nazz."
"Thanks, dude." said Nazz. Grant pulls a Cliff Badge out of his pocket.
"And for your victory here, I reward you with the Cliff Badge." said Grant. Nazz takes the Cliff Badge, along with pokedollars.
"Awesome!" said Nazz. Grant notices Nazz's cape she got from the Battle Chateau.
"Say, did you get that cape from the Battle Chateau?" asked Grant.
"Yeah. I'm a Viscountess right now." said Nazz, twirling around.
"By your performance today, I think you're ready to become a Countess." said Grant.
"You think so?" asked Nazz. Grant nods. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out what looked like a TM. "Is that a TM?"
"Actually, a Hidden Machine, or HM for short." said Grant. "I know there's a large rock in Connecting Cave between here and Route 7 where the Battle Chateau is. This HM contains the move, Strength. If you teach it to a Pokemon that can learn it, it should be able to push that rock into the hole in front of it so you can get back to Route 7 quicker."
"Radical." said Nazz. "As soon as I get Floette healed, I'm going back there." Grant gives Nazz the HM.
"I wish you luck in the Kalos League, as well as the Battle Chateau, Nazz." said Grant.
"Thanks, Grant." said Nazz. Jonny, Rolf, and Kevin join Nazz and they look at their Cliff Badges. Now that they won their second badges, they're one step closer to competing in the Kalos League, but first, Nazz plans on making a stop at the Battle Chateau where she plans on rising up to Countess.
