Kevin's New Bike and Rival
At the Cyllage City Pokemon Center, Nazz was giving her Floette to the nurse for healing after her battle at the Cyllage City Gym.
"So what do you guys want to do while we wait for my Floette to heal?" asked Nazz. Kevin pulls his Dowsing Machine out of his backpack.
"I'm thinking of using these to find more stuff here in the city." said Kevin.
"Awesome. Hope you find something good." said Nazz. Kevin exits the Pokemon Center and begins looking around with his Dowsing Machine. After walking around Cyllage City and finding only an Ether, Kevin puts his Dowsing Machine away and heads to the Pokemon Center. As he was walking, he notices a sign that had the image of a bicycle on it hanging from a small building. Curious, he walks inside and smiled when he saw a lot of bicycles and a few people looking at them.
"Whoa." said Kevin as he looked in awe at all the bicycles.
"Hello, welcome. Come right this way." a man said from behind a counter. Kevin walks over to the man. "What timing. Do you know that you're our ten thousandth and first customer since we opened?"
"No, why?" replied Kevin. "Do I win something?"
"Well, if you were our ten thousandth customer, you would win a free bike." said the clerk. "But since you're a runner up, you get the chance to win a free bike."
"Awesome! What do I have to do?" asked Kevin.
"All you have to do is answer a question correctly." replied the clerk. "Are you ready?"
"Sure." said Kevin.
"Do bicycles come in more than one color?" asked the clerk.
"I'm pretty sure bikes do come in more than one color, so yes." replied Kevin.
"That is correct! I'm sure someone like you would love to have one of our bicycles." said the clerk.
"Well, bike riding is a hobby of mine." said Kevin. He and the clerk walk to two almost identical bikes, one yellow and one green.
"So which colored bike do you want?" asked the clerk. Looking down at his light green shirt, he points at the green bike.
"I'll take the green one." said Kevin.
"A grand choice. Now you'll bike all over Kalos." said the clerk.
"Thanks, man." said Kevin as he looks at his new bike. Soon, Kevin was walking out of the store with his new bicycle. "This is so awesome. Not only did I win my second badge, I win a new bike. I'm trying out this bike right now." He climbs on his bike, and he begins riding around. He rides his bike around Cyllage City, enjoying the breeze against his face. Unbeknownst to Kevin, a boy with long, light brown hair, wearing a yellow basketball jersey with an orange pokeball symbol on it, orange shorts with two white lines going down each side of them, white socks, white and orange sneakers, an orange bandana with a yellow pokeball symbol on it around his head and an orange backpack was skateboarding on an orange skateboard with white wheels and a white pokeball symbol on it down a road in Cyllage City. Kevin was riding his bike by a building while the skateboarder was skateboarding past the same building, but behind it. As Kevin biked past the building, the skateboarder went past Kevin quickly, startling him and making him lose control. Fortunately, Kevin was able to maintain his balance and stop his bike before he can fall over or crash. "Hey, watch where you're going, dork!" The skateboarder stopped and turned towards Kevin. He skateboarded over to Kevin and began circling him.
"What did you call me, dweeb?" asked the boy as he continued circling Kevin.
"Dork! I almost crashed because of you!" replied Kevin. The boy stops in front of Kevin and looks at his bike.
"Nice bike." the boy said in a sarcastic tone.
"Hey, I know sarcasm when I hear it!" said Kevin.
"Well, I prefer skateboards." said the boy.
"What's so great about skateboards?" asked Kevin.
"Well, I can carry one around easier than a bike." said the boy. "And unlike a bike, I don't have to worry about one of my wheels going flat, or a chain coming lose, or brakes failing."
"That doesn't stop me from riding my bike!" said Kevin.
"Bicycles stink." said the boy. Kevin glared at the boy with clenched teeth. "What? Got a problem with what I just said?" Kevin nods in response. "Well how about we settle this with a Pokemon battle."
"A Pokemon battle? You're on!" replied Kevin. On a beach near Cyllage City, Kevin and the boy were facing each other. Jonny with Plank, Rolf, and Nazz arrived.
"Hey, Kevin. What's going on?" asked Jonny.
"Just teaching...hey, I never got your name." said Kevin.
"Name's Carter." replied the boy, now identified as Carter.
"Anyway, I'm just about to teach Carter a lesson about disrespecting my bike." replied Kevin, pointing at his new bike.
"You got a new bike, Kevin?" asked Nazz.
"Actually, I won it." said Kevin.
"Awesome." said Nazz. Kevin smiles, then turns back towards Carter.
"So how many Pokemon are we using?" asked Kevin.
"How about three?" asked Carter.
"Sounds cool to me." said Kevin. He pulls a pokeball out of his pocket while Carter pulled a blue pokeball with yellow lines on it out of his pocket. "What kind of pokeball is that?"
"It's called a Quick Ball." replied Carter. "Go, Skarmory!" He throws the Quick Ball and releases a metal, bird-like Pokemon. Nazz pulls the pokedex out of her backpack and points it at the Pokemon.
"Skarmory, the Armor Bird Pokemon. Despite being clad entirely in iron-hard armor, it flies at speeds over 180 mph." said the pokedex.
"Go, Fletchinder!" said Kevin, throwing Fletchinder's pokeball and releasing him. Fletchinder and Skarmory were in mid-air, facing each other.
"Use Agility!" Kevin and Carter say in unison. Fletchinder and Skarmory fly around quickly in a circle.
"Skarmory, Leer!" said Carter. Skarmory glares at Fletchinder and its eyes glow blue, weakening Fletchinder's defense.
"Fletchinder, use Ember!" said Kevin. Fletchinder opens his beak and releases small bits of fire from it and they hit Skarmory, dealing super effective damage due to fire type moves being strong against steel type Pokemon.
"Skarmory, Fury Attack!" said Carter. Skarmory flies towards Fletchinder and pecks him repeatedly, dealing more damage due to Fletchinder's defense being weakened by Leer. Skarmory suddenly becomes surrounded by fire.
"Ha! Looks like Fletchinder's Flame Body ability activated." said Kevin.
"Flame Body? I thought he had the Big Pecks ability." said Jonny.
"When he was a Fletchling, he had the Big Pecks ability, but when he evolved, he now has the Flame Body ability." said Kevin.
"What does that ability do?" asked Rolf.
"Inflict the burn condition on a Pokemon that attacks him physically." said Kevin. Skarmory flinches in pain from its burn and loses a bit of stamina. "Now, Fletchinder, Ember!" Fletchinder releases more bits of fire at Skarmory and they hit it, dealing super effective damage.
"Use Swift!" said Carter. Skarmory opens its beak and unleashes stars from it and they hit Fletchinder. Skarmory recieves damage from its burn.
"Quick Attack!" said Kevin. Fletchinder flies at Skarmory with incredible speed and rams it in its chest, not doing much damage due to steel type Pokemon being resistant to normal type attacks. Despite that, Skarmory crashes onto the beach with swirly eyes. "Looks like Skarmory crashed and burned." Carter frowns and returns Skarmory to its Quick Ball. He puts it in his backpack and pulls out a Dive Ball.
"Wailmer, let's go!" said Carter, throwing the Dive Ball and releasing a dark blue, whale-like Pokemon with a tan underbelly. Nazz points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Wailmer, the Ball Whale Pokemon. It eats one ton of food every day. It plays by shooting stored seawater out its blowholes with great force." said the pokedex.
"All right, Wailmer, use Water Gun!" said Carter. Wailmer releases a spiral of water from its mouth, and it hits Fletchinder, dealing super effective damage due to water type moves being strong against fire type Pokemon.
"Quick Attack!" said Kevin. Fletchinder flies at Wailmer with incredible speed and rams it.
"Water Pulse!" said Carter. Wailmer opens its mouth and forms a ball of water in front of it. Wailmer launches the ball at Fletchinder and hits it, dealing super effective damage to him. He falls to the ground and crashes. When the dust from the crash cleared, Fletchinder was laying on the beach with swirly eyes.
"Looks like Wailmer wins." said Carter. Kevin returns Fletchinder to his pokeball.
"You did great, Fletchinder." said Kevin. He puts Fletchinder's pokeball away and pulls another pokeball out of his pocket. "Ivysaur, go!" He throws Ivysaur's pokeball and releases him. "Ivysaur, Vine Whip!" Two green vines came out from underneath the leaf fronds on his back, and they hit Wailmer, dealing super effective damage to it due to grass type moves being strong against water type Pokemon.
"Use Rollout!" said Carter. Wailmer rolls towards Ivysaur and rams into him, knocking him back.
"Razor Leaf!" said Kevin. Ivysaur releases green leaves from his leaf fronds, and they hit Wailmer, dealing super effective damage. Wailmer rolls towards Ivysaur and rams into him, harder than the previous Rollout.
"Careful, Kevin. Rollout gets stronger after each time it's used." said Jonny.
"Got it. Ivysaur, Take Down!" said Kevin. Ivysaur charges at Wailmer and rams it, sending him flying into the ocean. It surfaces above the water with swirly eyes. Ivysaur winces in pain from the recoil damage caused by Take Down. "You okay, Ivysaur?"
"Ivy." replied Ivysaur, nodding. Carter returned Wailmer to its Dive Ball. He puts it in his backpack and pulls out a pokeball.
"I'll admit, you're doing okay. But let's see how you do against Solosis." said Carter as he throws the pokeball and releases a round, light green Pokemon surrounded by a green ball of gel. Nazz points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Solosis, the Cell Pokemon. They drive away attackers by unleashing psychic power. They can use telepathy to talk with others." said the pokedex.
"Okay, Solosis, use Psywave!" said Carter. Solosis becomes surrounded by a layer of multicolored energy. He unleashed the energy into a wavy beam, and it hits Ivysaur, dealing super effective damage to him due to poison type Pokemon being weak against psychic type attack.
"Use Razor Leaf!" said Kevin. Ivysaur releases green leaves towards Solosis.
"Light Screen!" said Carter. Solosis eyes glowed blue and a glass wall appears in front of it, blocking most of the Razor Leaf, but still got hit by only a couple. "Psywave one more time!" Solosis releases another wavy beam of multicolored energy, and it hits Ivysaur, dealing super effective damage to him and knocking him out. Carter crosses his arms and grins. "Two down, one to go." Kevin returns Ivysaur to his pokeball.
"You were awesome out there." said Kevin.
"So, what are you gonna do now, dweeb?" asked Carter. Kevin pulls out another pokeball.
"Beat you, dork!" said Kevin. He throws his pokeball, releasing his Vivillon. "Vivillon, use Struggle Bug!" Vivillon flies at the Solosis and wraps her wings around it, making the two struggle around, hurting Solosis, but not too much due to Light Screen taking most of the hit, and weakening its special attack power.
"Use Rollout!" said Carter. Solosis rolls towards Vivillon and slams into her, doing a lot of super effective damage.
"Vivillon, use Supersonic!" said Kevin. Vivillon releases high-pitched soundwaves from her antennae which hit Solosis, making it shake around a bit. Solosis tries to roll at Vivillon, but it misses and crashes into a big rock instead, hurting itself. "Vivillon, use Gust!" Vivillon flaps her wings hard, releasing a powerful gust of wind which hits Solosis, driving it further into the rock it hit before.
"Solosis, use Psywave!" said Carter. Solosis releases waves of psychic energy.
"Dodge and use Tackle!" said Kevin. Vivillon maneuvers around the Psywave attack and slams into Solosis, sending it skidding across the sand to a stop at Carter's feet, unconscious.
"You did it, Kevin!" said Jonny.
"Way to go, dude!" said Nazz.
"Rolf is happy that Kevin won!" said Rolf.
"Not cool, man." said Carter as he returns Solosis to its pokeball.
"Deal with it, dude." said Kevin. Carter walks over to Kevin and hands him some pokedollars.
"Don't spend it all on some stupid bike accessory, dweeb." said Carter.
"My money, my choice of what I spend it on, dork." said Kevin.
"Well, I'm making the choice of making you, my rival!" said Carter.
"Whatever." said Kevin. "If you're trying to go for the Kalos League, we'll settle things between us there."
"I look forward to it, dweeb." said Carter.
"Dork." said Kevin. Carter walks onto a nearby road, steps onto his skateboard, and rides off. Nazz, Jonny, and Rolf walk over to Kevin.
"Looks like you have a rival now, Kevin." said Nazz.
"And I'm gonna be ready for him at the Kalos League." said Kevin. He grabs his bike and they all head for the Pokemon Center.
