Chapter 470: I wanna go home?
(Bumpkin Farm.)
The early morning sun shines onto the home of the Bumpkin family, and to the barn where Liam is asleep. Liam opens his eyes and he can smell the early morning moment get to him, being in the farm and waking up early has made Liam aware of waking up early. No clue how he does that.
Liam stretches and he yawns. "Morning ya'll and Arlo, how're you…." Liam sees Arlo is gone! "Arlo? Arlo?! Where are you buddy?!" He then sees the Pokémon are gone.
Liam then walks out of the barn and he sees his memaw and his ma and pa looking at something in the fields. "Ma! Pa! Memaw! I can't find….. Arlo?"
Liam and the family see Arlo using the water he has in his mouth to water all of the plants in the area, the wheat and corn is ready for harvest and he manages to water them one last time before they have to harvest all of it.
Then they see the farm Pokémon working together to harvest the place faster, normally they don't help out with the harvest because the family can do it by themselves, but this time the farm Pokémon want to help out and they have a long neck green dinosaur leading them.
"Huh, looks like that Arlo fella sure knows how to be helpful and lead everyone to harvest this joint" replied Memaw.
"He sure knows what to do, and giving the field one last water down before we clean this place up, smooth and very knowledgeable for a big dino" replied Austin Bumpkin. Orange hair and goatee, red shirt and blue overalls and red boots.
"He woke up way before any of us did and when we came out here, we all saw he was hard at work and he even fed them hens, though I wonder how he knows where to get the feed" said Jill Bumpkin. Orange hair tied into a bun, yellow shirt with a blue jacket and blue jeans and black boots.
Liam smiles. "He must've seen them chicken feed back in the barn he really is one smart dino. Well, we can't just let out guest just do the work for us, we should help out too!" They all nod and get to harvesting, they got a lot to harvest.
Arlo continues to water the plants, then he helps in gathering the corn and then he sees something he has no clue about, a large green tractor and it has a wagon in the back and Liam's pa is driving it. "I know you can't reckon to anything I'm saying, but I need you to put them corn in here Arlo."
Arlo is confused, but then he sees the trailer and then he sees that this legless thing with the person leads to the place where they store their harvest, like the silo he knew. He then brings down all the corn onto the back of the trailer and the other Pokémon go over and do the same.
The vehicle then waits and the trailer is full and it drives off. Arlo then sees a large thing going through the wheat field and harvesting all of the wheat at full speed and the hay bales come out from the back all wrapped up and sitting on the ground.
So, Arlo picks them up with the help of the Pokémon and they bring them over to the barn. Arlo looks around and sees how these people manage to make things fast and finish the harvest with ease and he knows why they're doing it so fast, he notices the leaves on all the trees are orange and yellow, which means its fall and winter will begin in a month or two.
Arlo then continues to do as much help as he can. He helps in feeding the animals and even helping Liam harvest the vegetables in the garden and he notices one big green looking vegetable and he decides to leave it alone, he can see some wooden posts around it with some markings he can't read, but he knows it's a sign that no one can touch this.
Truth be told, that is the prize marrow of Liam's ma and she intends to bring it to the November Farm festival.
Arlo then sees all of the fields have been harvested, leaving only the corn stalks left and then he spots Liam's pa cutting through the stalks, like he's making it into something and then he sees Liam's memaw on the silo and looking to the stalks with some kind of drawing, it's the drawing to the haunted corn maze for the farm and Lucy Loud is going to host it.
Memaw instructs Austin on where to go and how wide the maze pathway has to be and surely enough, they finish it. "There, now that is gonna be one wicked maze when we decorate it." Memaw then jumps off the silo and she lands onto some hay bales. "Nailed it!"
Liam then goes near Arlo. "Thanks buddy, for helping us out. This is the fastest we finished the harvest and you made it possible big fella."
Arlo smiles to the boy, he may not understand him. But he knows he's happy. Liam then has an idea and he points to himself. "Liam, my name is Liam. Liam."
Arlo then understands the words he's saying. To Arlo and his dino language he speaks. "Liam? Huh, so that's his name, Liam."
Arlo nods to the boy and Liam smiles. "It's a working progress, but I know you can learn more on how I speak and knowing everyone else." But then he realizes, sooner or later Arlo has to go back home.
Arlo then looks around and see the mother and father of Liam and he knows they are the parents of the boy and that memaw is a relatives as well. It reminded him of his own family, and he misses them.
Just then they hear a massive sound and they spot Martin come in and in his Tech Sector suit. "Liam!"
"Mr. McKenzie, what the heck are you doing here?" asked Liam as he goes to him and so does the rest of his family, Arlo is nervous vut he also goes to see who this thing is.
"Kid, we may have found some way to bring Arlo back to his home and we can do it right now. The Guardian is back, and he knows where he came from and how he got here in the first place" replied Martin. He then sees the corn maze. "Nice, this is gonna look so spooky when Halloween hits, and nice job on the harvest too."
"Thank you kindly sir, now about Arlo and going home?" asked Jill.
"Oh right, well Gyro told the others and so I should tell you guys." Martin turns off his suit and he shows them what took Arlo. "This is what took Arlo."
"What the heck?! Looks like some kind of storm" said Memaw as she looks at it. "But way too big to be called one and I have seen storms and this one looks like a nightmare that I can't fight."
"Hmm, looks like something from that Geostorm movie we saw and boy was that darn scary" replied Austin.
"True, this is as storm, but it's what we call an interdimensional rift storm and this is what brought Arlo here" replied Martin. "This thing has the strength beyond of any storm and can be able to cause so much collateral damage, they can only be deflected if that world it's headed to is heavily defended by a powerful barrier and apparently the world where Arlo came from had no protection from it."
"Well, they don't have any magic, so that makes sense why his non-extinct dino world was invaded by this vile storm" said Jill.
"True, this thing manifests anywhere across the realms and can create a portal to any location and take you there, chances you could get hurt or land safely. They only last ten minutes, and they they're gone" replied Martin. "This is how Arlo got here, this is what separated him from his family and surely this is what all the realms are now fearing the most."
Arlo sees this small storm and he backs up in fear, he recalls what happened to him when a storm like this came: He lost his poppa Henry and it was the same storm that came down to his remaining family momma Ida, Buck and Libby and this makes him scared and shed some tears.
Liam sees this and goes to him. "Easy fella, easy. That is not real, it's not. Calm down big guy, calm down Arlo."
Arlo looks to Liam and he calms down, Liam then has an idea and he uses his arms to show him something. "Arlo, we are going to take you home, do you understand me? We're gonna take you home!"
Arlo sees this, the same way he did when he asked where Spot's home and family are. Arlo nods and he walks towards Martin who is shocked by the way that Liam just spoke to the dinosaur. "Okay, wow! That is new. Good job kid, Arlo understands you. Sort of."
Liam's parents go to their son. "Liam go with him, you and Tabby became good pals with Arlo and tried to help him calm down, he's your friend and he needs a friend to see this through" said Jill.
"Go son, we can manage here. Arlo needs you" replied Austin.
Liam smiles and he hugs his ma and pa. "Thank guys, I'll be back soon and I will tell ya'll all about the farm that Arlo must have there as well, to see just how good a dinosaur can be with being a hard workin' farmer like us."
Memaw chuckles. "I think Arlo here showed that when he was helping earlier."
Liam then feels something lift him up, Arlo puts the boy on his back and Martin activates his suit. "We have to go to the Great Gate by Spellman Estate, that's where we meet them." He then takes to the skies and Arlo follows him with Liam on his back.
The Bumpkin family wave to the good dinosaur, but then Jill asks. "You think his family is alright?"
Austin puts his hat down. "I don't know darlin', we can only hope that they did, if not then he surely will be heartbroken."
Memaw looks to the barn and she has an idea. "Austin, Jill. If Arlo does come back, then we need to upgrade this barn some more!"
(Spellman Estate.)
They arrive to Spelman Estate, Arlo had to stop once in a while to eat and drink and as he went through the town he did his best not to get spooked by everything and the folks there weren't concerned about the dinosaur, but they all knew that he was going home. Jenny and her auntie Katherine Mulligan spread the news about who is Arlo and where is he from and many of the folks feel sorry for the big guy.
How does Katherine know about this? Answer: She got some aerial recon help, from someone who flies above the town twenty-four-seven.
Arlo sees the large home and he sees the people there, the ones he saw at the large hard rocked water floating thing (Royal Fortress) Arlo then walks towards what looked like a very large stone gate.
Gyro looks to the dinosaur. "So, this is Arlo. Very well then." Gyro uses his magic and he casts it onto the Great Gate. Arlo is alarmed by this, but Liam does his best to calm him down and Tabby is also there to help.
Arlo then sees the large gate is now glowing with green stuff around it that changes to yellow and then orange and then back to green.
Gyro then backs up. "This portal will lead him back to his home, Clawtooth Mountain, far from any threats of the open plains and has forests for them to survive and thrive and I have seen this world before, I just never thought I'd go back again."
"What else is known about this world Gyro?" asked Sunset.
Gyro sighs. "Gangs of Pterosaurs scout the skies for anything they can feast after a storm hits, Tyrannosaurs Rexes rally herd of Buffalo like cowboys with cattle and they have to defend they're caravans from bandito gangs of Velociraptor's and then there's the farmers, which is Arlo and his family."
They're all shocked about everything he just said. "Okay, I think I just blew my horseshoe out of the ranch and down the gullet express to San Antonio, and then let it get slide showed into the next rodeo" replied Peter.
Leon looks to him confused at what he just said. "What?"
"He was speaking Texan man, so you'd have to be a pure blood Texan to figure out what he just said. I mean, Sam and Sergei know what he just said, and so did I" replied Neil.
Arlo sees the portal and looks to Liam. Liam looks to Gyro. "So, should we go through?"
Gyro walks back. "Arlo ha to go home, or at least see what has happened. Because I have seen it and believe me, I do not wish to go back there."
Arlo can tell by the way that person speaks, it can't be good and without a second thought Arlo races through the portal. "Arlo!" Liam and Tabby go after him and so do the others.
Gyro however wipes away some tears. 'Boy, you have no idea what you're about to witness.'
(Clawtooth Mountain.)
Arlo races out of the portal. "Ma! Buck! Libby! I'm….. Home?"
Arlo is shocked at what he sees. The valley, the valley and forest he once lived in with the new farm they made, has been decimated. The mountains have brought down a massive landslide and has crushed and destroyed everything in plain sight.
The trees have been knocked over, the river has been blocked and only little water is passing through and then he sees the silo they built has fallen and all they have harvest is scattered and being eaten by vermin.
Liam and Tabby come through. "Arlo wait… Oh my lord." Liam, Tabby and the Royal Defender see the damage, the major damage that the interdimensional rift storm has done. The only life left, are the rodents, insects and birds.
Arlo walks around and he sees the fields have been trampled and washed away, the food is all over the place and then he sees it, the home they stayed in has collapsed from the impact from a very large boulder.
The Royal Defenders all have their powers and weapons ready. "Eyes up everyone! Something else is here!" said Lincoln as he uses his mask to scan the perimeter. "We for something here."
Arlo can also feel this and he can hear some flapping, like something flying kind of flapping. Leni then uses the trees and she asks them what they see and she is shocked. "Guys! This way now!"
They all follow Leni, but all of them are picked up by Arlo and he carries them to where Leni is going and they see something large and green and pterosaurs are attacking it! Oh dear god!
Arlo sees this and he roars and charges at them and the rest of the Royal Defenders use their weapons and powers to scare them off.
Luna manages to toss Frostmourne and it strikes the head of the leader of the pterosaurs and it goes down into the river and this scares the pterosaurs and they fly away, one of them gets hit by an icicle shot from Lincoln.
Liam is shocked and horrified and Tabby screams at what they see. Neil sees this. "Oh my fucking god!"
Buck, one of Arlo's siblings or what's left of him. Crushed by the weight of rocks and he has been mutilated by the scavengers. "No, no, no!" Leon faints seeing this and Sergei does the sign of the cross.
"No, please no not them, no not again!" Arlo sheds tears seeing this and then he sees his momma and Libby under rocks as well and they too have been reduced to near bones with little flesh and skin. Arlo is horrified, scarred even and he runs off.
"Arlo wait!" Liam and Tabby go after him and so does Lincoln, Linka, Sam and Peter. "Arlo, come back!"
Luna then sees the pterosaur still struggling and she goes over to it. Luna places her foot onto the head and she yanks her Runeblade off the dinosaurs head and then she presses it onto the eye of the pterosaur slowly. "This is for the family, you messed up scavenger."
They all see this sad moment, and some of them have tears. Leni sighs and she uses her powers to move the rocks out of the way and the others also help dig out what is left of the Apatosaurus family.
Meanwhile Arlo keeps running, he then recalls his poppa and how he lost him and now….. Now he has lost his momma and his two siblings and then he trips and falls onto the dirt.
Arlo stays like this and cries. He doesn't notice some others see him. Liam and Tabby go over and they hug the crying dino's head and cry with him. Arlo sees this and he too cries tears, knowing he lost his family and will never ever see them again.
"Momma, Buck, Libby. I…. I should've been here, with all of you. I should've b-been with all of you, i…. I'm sorry."
Lincoln, Linka, Sam and Peter don't understand him, but they know Arlo is in pain and has no one lest anymore. No family and no home.
Liam then looks to Arlo and kisses his cheek and so does Tabby. "Arlo, I'm sorry. I don't know what else we can do for ya now. I'm so sorry Arlo." Liam and Tabby hug his head once more and cry with him.
Linka then sees this is very familiar, like it's happened to someone before. 'Courage.' She wants to speak her idea, but she know that Arlo can figure it out. They just need to let them have this moment of despair and comfort.
Arlo is not alone, even if his family is gone, he has friends who could be his family. To Arlo, he sees that now.
He recalls when he was lost from his family the first time and he had to br brave to get back to them, but this time he can't go back to them. But he does see Liam and the girl and those other people he hardly knows and he recalls what he has been through when he came to their world and how Liam, helped him.
Arlo moves closer and he uses his head to nuzzle close to Liam who continues to hug him. Arlo has a friend, like Spot and Nash and the other T-Rexes, he has a friend he can call family.

Arlo is standing in front of three stone piles, it also has vines and dirt and large stone marks with names on them, Gyro is there and he knows who his family is.
Arlo looks to the stones and he talks to them. "Momma, Buck, Libby. I'm sorry I wasn't here to help you, to save you guys and to not be here to join you. I feel so alone right now, without all of you, like when we lost poppa."
Arlo has some tears but he looks to them again. "But, I know you wouldn't want me to be sad and you would want me to keep living and….. And live the life I seek, to be brave at whatever comes in my way, to whatever adventure I have been through, like the one from before."
"I will do what I can to take care and protect my new family, I'll do everything I can to help them and treat them like they really are my family. But, I will never forget all of you. Momma, Buck, Libby, Poppa. I will never forget all of you."
Arlo then kisses each gravestone and he backs away, he then sees Liam and Tabby place some flowers onto them and then look to Arlo and he lowers his head so they can hug him. They shed some tears at this tragic moment.
They then depart from the hug and he lets Liam and Tabby ride onto his back, he then turns around and sees the Royal Defenders smiling at him, he can trust them just as he trusts Liam…. And Tabby, he's learning from the words they speak, even though he can't speak their language he can understand clearly who they all are. It'll take some time, but he can manage.
Gyro then opens the portal and they all walk through. Arlo looks back and looks to the gravestones and to everything around the place he once called home. "Goodbye everyone, till we meet again." Arlo with Liam and Tabby pass through the portal and it disappears.
But unknown to them, a child sees this and he howls at the departure of his good friend Arlo, but deep down Spot knows he'll see him again, soon. He then heads back to his family, and they're tribe.

A/N: Looks like the Good Dinosaur is now staying with the Bumpkin Family as one of their own, on the next chapter we will see how he is adapting to living on earth with humanity and all the things they have.
