Spells and Louds
Chapter 471: The Dinosaur Learning.
(Bumpkin Farm.)
As the early morning dawns a new onto the land, Arlo awakens from his sleeping place within the expanded barn and he walks out of the place. He then sees the sun hasn't fully shined on the farm yet, and it took him a while to know what this place is called. "Good morning Bumpkin Farm."
Arlo then goes over to the animal feed and he begins to carry some of them to the other farm animals. He does get a bit alarmed from the sound of the resident Rooster and also the sound of the Blaziken on the barn roof.
Arlo then proceeds to feed the chickens and then he checks on all of the cows, followed by seeing how many sheep are still in the place and tend to the horses. As he walks out of the stables, he sees Memaw Bumpkin walking with some feed for the horses. "Morning Arlo."
Arlo nods and he makes his way to the corn field, well what's left of the corn field. He has no clue what's this all about. "Why the heck are they leaving the stalks still in place? And what the heck is that?"
Arlo sees the model of a ghost at the side of the sign at the entrance. It was also hard to see him understand words from humans, and he was able to figure some things out. "H-Hallo-Hallow-Halloween? What the heck is a Halloween?"
He then sees the rest of the Bumpkin family is awake and they're all hard at work and so he goes over to help them out. They do greet him with a nice hello and good morning and that makes him feel like he is part of this family, along with his human brother Liam.
Liam on the other hand has finished all of the morning chores and he talks to his parents, and this confuses Arlo. Liam then goes to Arlo and talks to him. "Buddy, listen. I can't be here for the rest of the day, I need to go somewhere and I know you won't understand this."
Truth be told, Arlo does understand this, but he doesn't know why he's saying him can't be at the farm for the rest of the day. Then he hears him talk about school. Arlo and tell this is important and it sounds necessary for Liam to go.
Arlo nods and Liam smiles. "Thanks bud, I promise I will come back and we can play some more, or do more work. You seem to like work more than just having fun."
Liam is about to go to his Pokémon Mudsdale, but then Arlo lowers his body and Liam notices this. "Wait, you wanna take me to school?"
Arlo nods, Liam smiles seeing this and he sees Mudsdale come over and nod as well. Liam then goes to his donkey-looking Pokémon. "Muddy, take care of the rest of the farm and if them foxes think about coming back. Take em down!"
Mudsdale nods and stomps his hoofs, then they see Liam's dad with his truck and with tons of corn and wheat in the trailer. "Hey there boys, better get to school now, I'm gonna be selling this here stuff at the farmers market. See you later at home Liam." He then drives off and this confuses Arlo.
"Where is he going with the harvest?"
Liam then hops onto the back of Arlo and he calms down the Good Dinosaur. "Easy there bud, pa is just gonna send them harvest to the rest of the folks in the market so they can have it be given to the rest of the folks in town who need it too. You have seen my ma make the wheat into something else of course."
That was Arlo does recall that and he still has to get used to this new way of civilization. "Come on bud, maybe we can pick up Tabby on the way too."
Arlo nods and they make their way out of the farm and all the farm based Pokémon wave at them.
(Royal Woods Downtown.)
Arlo and Liam walk through the town and they see everything has been setup with tons of Halloween decorations and everyone is getting the spooky on.
Arlo sees this as a bit unnerving, but Liam calms him down. "Easy buddy, this is just something we folks like to do on a very special day and we're gonna have one at the farm too. I know you're scared and all, but can you be brave for me when that day comes?"
Arlo hears this and nods. He will try to be brave, well try.
Then Boomer's Super Kirov Airship comes out from behind the clouds and is now out in the open. This kinda alarms Arlo, but he does his best to be brave from that flying thing.
All the people: From humans, Faunus and Protoss, they all greet the Good Dinosaur and this makes Arlo feel welcome, he always likes seeing the people greet him as he walks through the town with Liam on his back, he then stops when he sees the red light. He's able to know this when he saw one of those moving things stop at the glowing light as well.
He has so much to learn, but he can manage and learn step by step, or he might figure it out, which is something Liam has noticed and has been sending the progress words out to the FutureTech base. Yup, Martin is keeping track of the dinosaur as well.
Then a Vulture Bike races past them as the light turns green, followed by an Indoraptor with someone on top.
Seeing the odd dinosaur reminded him of those raptor gangs with Butch and the other T-Rexes, but he tries to be brave and he too follows where the bike and Indoraptor are going.
They soon make it to Tabby's home and she smiles seeing her farmer boyfriend and the good dinosaur. "Morning you lot." Liam offers his hand and she goes on top and rides behind Liam.
"Looks like we're all set for school, let's go now Arlo" said Liam. The green Apatosaurus then makes his way through the neighborhood and he continues his journey to the place where Liam needs to be.
"So, Arlo can now be able to understand some English?" asked Tabby.
"Some English darlin', some. He's taking it easy step by step, like how a calf does when they need to learn how to walk and where to go and not go" replied Liam. "I just hope he doesn't do anything wrong when we reach the school, I mean it is middle school and we don't know the outcome to all of this."
(Royal Woods Middle School.)
Lincoln parks his bike and Dominic races to the roof as Jordan jumps off of him and she goes towards Lincoln and Linka. "So, you guys think Liam is bringing the Good Dinosaur here?"
Linka then sees something. "Yeah, everything you just said seems to be true already." They all see what she sees and everyone else in the school also sees this.
Liam Bumpkin along with his girlfriend Tabby on top of the green Apatosaurus, Arlo. The good dinosaur then lowers his body and Liam and Tabby get off and the rest of their friends go over and see him.
"Wow. The news was not kidding, there is another dinosaur in town" replied Joy.
"I saw him days ago when he was panicking around town, man he sure is big" replied Rusty.
"I like his color, kinda like the green aliens my mom and dad talk about" replied Zach.
"What the heck is he even doing here?" asked Christina. "Well, besides the fact he was your ride."
Lincoln goes over and he fist bumps with Liam. "So, you're not worried that he might get nervous about being here while classes go on?"
"Not to worry bud. Arlo here has been learning so much about things going on, though he is having trouble learning a few things that are difficult to understand, he's doing well. Step by step I always say, and soon he'll be able to learn and adapt to the situation" replied Liam.
"That kinda sounds like a swarm thing with the whole idea of adaptation" replied Jordan. "Well, if he does get lonely, there are some friendly Pokémon at the back and of course Dominic could keep him company."
"That there is hard to do since he seems to be kinda skittish from Dominic and his figure. I mean, he does look like one of them fast attacking dinosaurs with sharp claws" said Liam nervously.
"Velociraptor's and it does make sense for him to be skittish around them" replied Linka. "We did get some reports from Gyro that he found out something from the world he came from. That Arlo was part of a group of herding Tyrannosaurs Rexes, helping them rally a massive herd of Buffalo and keeping them safe from the attacks of the raptors who act like banditos."
Liam and Tabby are shocked and so are the rest of their friends. "Whoa. Mind blown" said Sadie.
They then hear the bell ring. "Well, looks like it's time for school." Liam looks to Arlo. "See you after school buddy." Liam then follows the rest of his friends into the school, and a portal opens from the tree.
The shadowy portal then has Simon and Aggie come out and with them is Slenderman and they too follow the rest of their friends, while Slenderman waves and goes through the portal, but he does wave to Arlo and then goes through the portal.
Arlo is still confused by some of this stuff. "What does Liam do in that place?" He then walks around the school, but he does his best not to interrupt whatever it is that is going on inside. He then hears another ringing sound and he gets a bit startled, but he calms down and walks around the school and then he sees something.
Arlo sees a small or almost big place where the kids like Liam go to and take their seats, then he sees this woman (Ms. Salter) telling them about their class, which is about English learning.
Arlo kneels down onto his knees like he's resting and he looks through the window and listens to everything the teacher is saying and what she's writing on the wall, to Arlo it seems like something that Spot would do, but not so dirty or muddy.
Ms. Salter sees this and smiles. "Well, looks like we have another student here. Welcome to the class Mr. Good Dinosaur."
All the students see this and waves towards him, Arlo nods and they all begin class. Seeing this gives Liam and idea. 'Arlo is an 11-year old Dinosaur, and he does wanna learn so much. Perhaps it's about time I took in that offer them FutureTech guys said.'
(Skip, lunch time.)
Everyone there is enjoying lunch and the windows there are opened so the green ling neck can also eat lunch as well. Okay, so he's eating some apples that Liam brought with him, while Liam enjoys his chicken sandwich.
"So, you think he should go to grade school?" asked Rusty.
"I think he does need to go there, he's 11 and he might not understand the classes we have since they seem kinda advanced and stuff" replied Liam. "My ma and pa said this was my choice since Arlo is my responsibility and part of the family."
"This sounds like something Martin suggested doesn't it?" asked Jordan.
"It is, them folks back at FutureTech made the suggestion and said it was my choice, but this is also Arlo's choice too. So right now I need to know if he's okay going to some other place for classes" replied Liam.
"Best talk to him when classes are over Liam, now is not the right time" replied Tabby.
They then see Clyde going towards them, but he slips from some spilled juice on the floor and is about to fall, but Arlo manages to catch him and help him back up. "Thanks big guy." Arlo nods and he draws his lock neck and head back outside the cafeteria.
"He sure is one nice dinosaur, we are having so many big changes and odd changes into town" replied Jenny. "Royal Woods might as well make massive headlines as the one place that could be called the new Capital of Michigan."
Lincoln sighs. "That news still trending?"
Jenny nods. "From the words of so many folks in Michigan, tourists have come here and interact with our friends and fellow citizens and they are changing their thoughts and most are planning to move into town and when they leave to go back to their homes, the word spreads about Royal Woods and what they have and the rumor goes out that this place might become the new capital of Michigan."
Linka then eats her fries. "This is one thing that has to be sorted out. We don't want Royal Woods to be the new capital, because that would also mean Saginaw would be the new county capital as well."
"Let's hope the guys at FutureTech can settle this issue" replied Jordan.
While they all talk to each other, outside Dominic is talking to Arlo about the things happening around him and is telling Arlo about the plan that Liam has for him for something else, something that could be good for him.
Turns out, Arlo the Apatosaurus can understand Dominic the Indoraptor. They seem to be good friends now, and if he can understand a genetically made Dinosaur, perhaps he can even understand the dinosaurs on Isla Cretacia.
Arlo then asks. "Dominic, what kind of Dinosaur are you?" That one is not gonna be easy for Dominic to explain and he doesn't wanna freak the kid out.
(Skip, after classes.)
The bell rings and Liam with Tabby come out and they greet goodbye to their friends. Lincoln and Linka with their Pokémon hop onto the Vulture bike and drive off, while Jordan and her Lopunny ride onto Dominic and they make their way home. Though she does get an escort of Mutalisks from the skies, Mutalisks from her Hive Cluster.
"Rosato still has that very large Hive Cluster with her, you think she's gonna be dressed as someone familiar for the big Halloween Party?" asked Tabby.
"She might and she might bring her whole swarm with her too" replied Liam. They then see Arlo go towards them and he looks excited. "Whoa there buddy, calm down now. What's going on with you?"
Liam and Tabby are then lifted onto his back and they make their way somewhere else. Clyde and the others see this. "Huh, you think he knows about what Liam has planned for him?" asked Cookie.
They all look to each other, and then they place bets on if the Good Dinosaur knows, or not. Seriously guys, why?! Clyde and Chloe on the other hand don't take part in this bet.
(Royal Woods Grade School.)
Arlo makes a stop and he looks to the place that he was told about, Dominic gave him directions on where the place is and it isn't that far from the Middle School. Maybe a few streets away, but still and easy walk for Arlo.
"Whoa bud, what the heck are you?" Liam then sees the school and so does Tabby. "Arlo, what the heck are we doing here?"
Arlo looks around the place and sees the students all walking out ad also see the dinosaur and they go over to meet him. Liam and Tabby then figured it out. "You wanna come here don't ya?" asked Tabby. "For tomorrow?"
Arlo nods, and he looks to all the kids around him who are all fascinated and Principal Huggins and Agnes Johnson see this and go over. "Liam, what the heck is going on here?" asked Mrs. Johnson.
Liam then comes down with the help from the green 11-year old Apatosaurus. "Mrs. Johnson, Principal Huggins. This here is Arlo, an 11-year old Dinosaur who wants to learn."
Huggins is shocked from this and so is Mrs. Johnson. "Okay, does he understand what's going on?" asked Principal Huggins.
"We believe so, he's good at knowing what people say and also learning some letters from the words and signs we make and I think he brought me and Tabby here to say that he wants to be part of this" replied Liam. "He wants to learn so he can be able to adapt to the life we have here in our world and timeline."
Mrs. Johnson and Huggins look to the green kid dinosaur who is being friendly to the other kids. They can tell this dinosaur is a good kind of creature and are kinda shocked he wants to learn.
"Liam we're gonna need to talk about this and we're going to need and adult to also confirm this" said Huggins.
"Inbound." Martin lands down in his Tech Sector suit and everyone cheers seeing him. He then deactivates his suit. "I was contacted from jenny Mulligan and I am here to confirm that Arlo, the Good Dinosaur wants to be part of this." They then make their way into the school, Arlo watches as Liam and that flying guy follow the two adults into the school. He knows this is gonna be a good thing for him.
Lisa, Lana and Lola go over and see the Green Apatosaurus. Arlo even let's some of the kids ride him around the school, and no Lisa does not take samples. Instead she measures the width of his feet and indicates how tall he can be as he grows up, she knows this will be necessary for when they need a new place for Arlo to stay in.
(The Next day.)
Arlo walks through the town, with Liam and Tabby on his back and they make it to the Royal Woods Middle School and he drops them off. "Thanks buddy and see you after classes" said Liam.
"You have fun in Grade School and do not cause any trouble and don't let anyone mess with you. Be brave and stand up to those who need help the most, and don't forget to call an adult if something is wrong and you think you need some supervision" replied Tabby.
Lincoln, Linka, Jordan and they're friends are shocked at what Tabby just said, and so is Liam. "Wow. Someone's going momma on the dinosaur" replied Polly.
Liam chuckles and he looks to Arlo. "Have fun buddy and do what you can to learn." Arlo and Liam hug each other, okay so Liam is hugging his big head. They then depart from the hug and Arlo makes his way to the direction of the Grade school.
Liam and Tabby sigh seeing this. "They grow up so fast don't they Liam?"
Liam is shocked that she said this. "Wait, what?" They then hear a barking sound and they all look next to Linka.
Linka knows who this dog is. "Diogee, go home." The dog barks and walks away from them. "How the heck does he keep coming here anyway?"
(Royal Woods Grade School.)
Arlo arrives to the place and he is greeted by the students there and he makes his way to the nearest classroom which is for the seventh grade and he kneels down to the ground and he listens in to the lessons being taught by the teacher.
Arlo is happy that he has found a way to learn how to adapt to this world and he knows his family would be proud at how brave he is at trying new things and perhaps one day, one day Arlo can go back home and one day start his own new life.
