"Christy please…this isn't like you." Haise protested.

"How would you know what I'm like?" Christy snapped, and then her voice returned to soft and seductive. "But wouldn't you like to find out?"

She undid her hair, long dark curls falling and reminding him of someone, something. Whatever it was, it put him on edge. She was dangerous.

Christy wrapped her arms around him and settled herself in his lap. "Have you ever tasted a human being?"

Haise stiffened. Where was she going with this? "No. Of course not. I'm a human being."

Christy sighed. "So you insist." She traced his jawline with a finger. "How about blood?"

Haise swallowed hard. "Yes. Yours."

Christy smiled. A predator's smile. "I'd like to try yours."

Haise sucked in a breath. Why did he want it so much? "Why?"

A slow smile. "Because I've tasted some already."

A low growl sounded in Haise's throat, surprising even him. Her hold on him was strong, otherwise he would have sprang to his feet. "WHOSE?!"

Christy stroked his hair and back, calming him. "It was anonymous. But it changed me, made me better. Made me…like you."

Haise gave a humorless chuckle. "You are not like me."

"Let me taste you. Then you'll understand."

Haise looked in her eyes. "If you taste me, you'll be my Christy again. It will be the antidote to…" He gestured to her. "All this. Is that what you want?"

This was new information to her. Christy stared back into his eyes with her red ones. "It may be the temporary antidote, but surely you know that a change such as this cannot be undone."

Haise did know. That was the cause of his despair. He stroked her cheek gently.

"I just want you to return to yourself."

Christy punctured his scar. Haise felt no pain. Her teeth carved into his flesh and took a bite out of him.

A memory scattered across his mind. How had he known that this would return her to normal?

But then the world dissolved into pleasure, as his desired clouded his mind, and passed into a world of blood and passion.
