Episode 4 – First Experiences and Desires– Part 1
It still feels like a dream…
Ever since I came here, I thought I was going to be some secret third wheel trying to operate in the shadows all for the sake of these three teens, and now…
I'm dating one of them. Even though it doesn't feel real, all in that moment just a day ago; that moment felt truly real. To have Sekai in my arms like that, her emotions, the sweet scent she carried all of it was so exhilarating…
My girlfriend is Sekai Saionji… and this is the rest of our story.
Laying back on my bed just thinking about the other day was on my mind for the rest of the night. I couldn't stop thinking about her…
I wanted to call her, to tell her I wanted to hold her… but my better reason and judgement told me otherwise to just let it all sink in little by little.
And so for the first time as I laid back to sleep I smiled as I closed my eyes as I pulled off into my own dream world.
(The Next Day)
Despite my mother's teasing about how happy I looked to go to school and her rather preternatural instinct that she put two and two together about how I should introduce her to my "special friend."
I simply ignored her as I headed out the door and running into Kotonoha and her trademark smile, "Hello there, Cal."
"Morning, Kotonoha." I replied back just as happily.
"You look better Cal, did something happen?" She asked.
"Maybe…" My blush couldn't help but sneak it's way to my cheeks which Kotonoha seemed to catch.
"And you seem rather happy, it must be rather exciting to be red in the face." She joked.
"Hehe, looks who talking." I countered.
"Touché." Kotonoha relented.
With that the both of us headed for the platform where we met up with Makoto who smiled upon seeing us.
"Morning. Cal, you seem more energetic did something happen yesterday?" Makoto inquired just like his girlfriend.
"Actually I wanted to ask you guys; do you want to have lunch together again on the roof?" I asked.
"Yeah, that sounds amazing. I missed all of us eating and laughing together." Kotonoha seemed more than happy with the suggestion.
"I don't mind. It'll be better to eat with you guys." Makoto followed his girlfriend's lead.
"Thanks,." I replied.
As we got on the train, I pulled out my phone while the other couple were busy and sent to Sekai, "Got them to agree. I think they'll be surprised!"
Almost a few seconds later I got a reply mail, "I think their mouths will be like you see in those old cartoons once they here. See you at school… :)"
"You too! :)"
With that I let the train ride pass by as we got off and I headed off for class. Racing off ahead of the other two, I headed for the classroom early on the off-chance that hopefully me and Sekai could have some time to meet up.
Homeroom started at 8:30 and currently it was 7:50. I had made it a bit earlier then I usually did my excitement getting the better of me. But even then I do remember that Sekai does have a tendency to wake up late or cut it close.
So as I wait patiently at my desk lo and behold I'm greeted by her posse of friends, "Cal, you look happy today, I wonder why?" Nanami sys teasingly.
"Hmph, I still don't approve…" Hikari pouts.
"Ignore her, Cal. Sekai told us last night, congratulations." Setsuna says with a rare smile from her.
"Ahaha, thanks guys. But could you guys keep this to yourselves? I don't want us to just be the talk of the school." I asked with a chuckle.
"Don't worry, we'll give you your space. Just don't flirt too hard okay?" Nanami asks.
"Ha-ha, very funny." I reply sarcastically.
It was around 8:20, when I finally saw Sekai herself walk through the classroom doors and look up at my spot waving as she walked towards.
"Morning, Cal." Sekai greeted me with her bright smile.
"Same to you." I returned with the same smile.
"You know… I couldn't stop thinking about yesterday… and you." She confessed with a blush.
"Oh? You missed me already?" I teased.
"Yes, you could've waited for me at the door we could've spent the rest of the opening period together. I don't want to waste a minute unless it's around you." Sekai said.
"Sorry, then from now on, I'll wait for you, okay?" Trying to placate her.
"Yeah." With that Makoto eventually arrived 5 minutes before we greeted him. Having always been watching each other since the start of the semester I could only imagine he'd probably pick up on her mood change.
And my suspicion was correct when once again like many other times, I could hear notebooks shuffling.
"Why're you so giddy today?", Makoto wrote.
"That's a S-E-C-R-E-T! ~ And none of your business!", Sekai wrote back.
"Come on it's something, what is it?", Makoto kept prodding.
"Not telling you, no matter what", Sekai kept firm.
"Come on, not even a hint? I told you about Katsura…" Makoto tried to guilt trip her.
"Hmm… I guess you're right. Let's just say it'll be a surprise ~" Sekai simply wrote back in reply.
"A surprise?" Makoto said to himself in his head. As classes went on things went by in peace until finally the sweet freedom of the lunch bell rang out.
"Well, me and Sekai will head for the roof we'll meet you guys up there. Let's go, Sekai." I said as Sekai joined my side.
"Yeah." She replied.
"Those two seem a lot happier… are they… No, they couldn't be." Makoto dropped the thought. He headed for the Class 4 room, and there Kotonoha was waiting outside for him.
Back up on the roof instead of eating, the new couple instead were hugging each other warmly as both of them stood there together.
"Sekai, are you sure about this? About telling them right now?" I asked still a little nervous about revealing our just budding relationship.
"Yeah, I don't want to hide something like this from them. Besides they'll understand. Mmm…" I felt Sekai snuggle deeper into my chest.
"You feel so warm…" I heard her purr into my chest.
"You too…" I replied back.
We stayed like that for a few more moments until suddenly we heard the door open and we looked over to see the rather surprised looks of both Makoto and Kotonoha as they say us intimately embracing together.
"Aaah…" I could hear Kotonoha gasp.
"Y-you guys are…?" Makoto seemed just as surprised with both their eyes wide as plates.
"Surprise!" Sekai said as we both let go. "We're… going out."
"Congratulations." Kotonoha said happily as she approached Sekai and took her hands shaking in giddiness.
"So you two are dating…" Makoto said as he came up to me. "Is that why we never saw you two during lunch the other day?"
"Yeah, the girls told me they didn't know where Sekai was and that they were worried about her. Setsuna told me where she was eating, and… one thing led to another, and we both confessed." I explained.
"Almost sounds like something out of school romance novel." Makoto said with a small sarcastic smile.
"Hey, that's my girl you're making fun of, and besides you hate reading so how would you now?" I played along with said sarcasm.
"I'll have you know I read plenty of books." He replied.
"Yeah, which I'm sure is the collection under your bed." I countered.
"I have no such things!" Makoto replied dramatically.
"Ho ho, such a response could it be that Makoto Itou is just a big pervert?" I playfully accuse, but deep down I knew he was but so far things didn't show any trouble brewing for them.
"Well then, shall we enjoy lunch together?" Sekai with her natural brightness got everyone in line as we each sat on our respective benches and enjoyed our lunches.
"Let's eat!" We all say as we bite into our respective packed lunches.
"Everyone, I brought some warm lemonade if you want to try some. I know it's been really cold, so I thought everyone might like something warm." Kotonoha offered a large thermos.
"I'd love some, what about you Cal?" She asked looking at me.
"I'll try some as well." I accepted.
"I brought some cups too. Here, Makoto." She offered the first to her boyfriend and then some to us; finally making one for herself.
As a rather cool breeze passed us by we all had the warm beverage together; while I had to admit I was only used to cold lemonade from my normal life. I had to admit that warm lemonade was quite good; it was a bit sourer than usual, but the warmness and sweet aftertaste more than made up for it.
As we enjoyed I could feel, Sekai then put her head on my shoulder as she just sat there enjoying herself, "Yeah?"
"Nothing, I just wanted to sit like this. Besides, it is a bit chilly after all." She said with a sweet smile.
"Oh that's right, everyone I was just wondering are any of you might be free in the next few weeks?" She asked.
Oh? Is this about more movie tickets? But wait, didn't we already have that scenario play out? Oh no, wait could this be…?
"Well it's just that my father won tickets for a trip to Aqua Square, but he's about to go on a business trip and my mother isn't interested in it since she'll have work soon, so she gave me the tickets. Should we all go together?" Kotonoha offered.
Oh, yeah the pool episode, but I always thought that was after the festival? Well, things change it's not like I'm in control of all space and time.
"These say their after the festival. It'd be the best time to go to since that means the summer's coming up." Sekai thought about the offer. "What do you think, Cal?"
"Well I haven't been to a water park since I was kid. Ah hell, why not. Besides…" I then whispered to Sekai, "I'd get to see my girlfriend in a bikini."
"Mou… pervert ~" She bashfully said with a slight rose to her cheeks.
"Sure, I'd love to go Kotonoha. But first we've all got to survive the festival first. How's that going actually?" Makoto inquired.
"Everything's picking up. For now we're just trying to get all the order forms right for all the supplies and extra stuff we'll need to decorate the school. I think everyone will be choosing their themes tomorrow." Kotonoha said.
Then the bell goes off signaling our need to return to class which after we clean up we do heading back as the day wears on.
Eventually class is let out and everyone begins filing out. Sekai then turns and speaks, "Hey, do you want to walk to the station together?"
"Yeah. You know, let's go to the bakery that Hikari's parents own. How's that sound?" I offer to take her.
"Heck yes! I've been wanting something sweet all day besides Katsura's lemonade. Let's go." She said as she grabbed my sleeve.
Heading out together we walked the town chatting along the way to the bakery when I caught sight of something rare; I saw Yuuki with Roka walking together as well. Were they getting along?
I hadn't been on Yuuki's case for a while so this was probably the best chance I had so I called out, "Oi! Yuuki, over here!"
It caught his attention as both of them turned and saw me. With Roka giving me a small, friendly wave, but Yuuki seemed a bit embarrassed.
"I think you embarrassed him…" Sekai said with a sigh.
"Maybe…"
Heading inside both of us sat down as talked, "So here on another delivery for your sister?"
"Kind of. She forced me and Roka out of the apartment again while she and her friends are drinking and smoking again." Yuuki's dissatisfaction was quite evident in his voice.
"Well I guess I should introduce you guys; Yuuki, Roka this is my girlfriend, Saionji Sekai." I introduced her to them formally.
"It's nice to meet you two." She replied with a small bow of her head.
"Same here." Both of them replied in unison.
"Roka here's actually a member of the girls' basketball team like Nanami. And Yuuki's older sister is one of the captains." I told her.
"So… are you date? ~" I took the chance to tease both of them as I let loose my own Cheshire grin.
"Ngh… o-of course not." Yuuki stammered out.
"Hmph, like anyone would go out with a weak nerd like him." Roka said sheepishly but she had a rosy tinge to her cheeks.
"Haha, enough Cal. So are you guys ready for the festival? Do you know what your class wants to do yet?" Sekai asked trying to change the topic.
"Not yet. I hear that the basketball club is putting on some kind of display or something, but some of them are going to be stuck helping their classes with the festival mostly." Roka answered.
"Here's your orders! Oh… it's just Yuuki and Cal… stupid idiots… both of you." Hikari's scorn for both of us guys was on full display as she brought us own drinks, pastries or ice cream.
"Oh yeah, here's the cake your sister ordered. She actually paid for it ahead of time so you should be grateful." Hikari left a boxed-up cake at our table.
"So she did want me to run an errand… Keh… that annoying sister of mine…" Yuuki grumbled under his breath.
"How's your bavarois taste?" I asked Sekai.
"Its good. But to tell you I think I could make it better." She says the last part quietly, so Hikari didn't hear and get mad.
"I'm sure you could. My girlfriend's cooking is amazing." I tease.
"Mou…" *Chu*
She kisses me on the cheek making me look frozen for a second as I realize that's the first kiss from a girl I'd ever received. I could feel my blush grow warm as I felt a bit of wave of embarrassment come over me.
"Oh no, I think I may have broken him…" Sekai smiled sheepishly.
"Hehe, make fun of me huh?" Yuuki smiled looking full of himself.
"S-shut up… Well I guess it was good to see you guys. Hopefully we'll see each other at the festival?" I propose.
"M-Maybe…" Yuuki's attitude went right back to nervous as both he and Roka blushed. Leaving our money for the bill we left for the station. Seeing as both of us lived on different sides of the city we agreed that I'd drop her off first before I left.
We reached the platform and waited for the train and luckily there was no one waiting as it seemed to be only us.
"Well that was a little fun don't you think?" I ask her.
"Yeah, thanks for that. I promise I'll pay you back with that homemade bavarois though." Sekai promised.
"I can't wait…" I replied warmly.
"Cal…?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you."
"I love you too."
With that Sekai once again hugged me tightly as I did the same her face buried once more in my chest, using my hand to make her look at me I couldn't help but stare into her soft eyes as she looked back at me.
With a subtle tilt we both stretched forward naturally as our lips came together. In that moment, this warm, fuzzy feeling overtook my thoughts as I kissed back, savoring every little moment. It almost felt like a chaste kiss, but with just a bot more passion behind it.
We heard the train begin to roll into the station and the doors opened, we separated as she turned with that same smile and said to me, "I love you. See you tomorrow!"
"You too!"
Damnit… I do like this girl. She has me…
AN#1 – Well here's the first part of my School Days remake in this fourth episode, First Experiences and Desires, in this opening part it's mostly Sekai and Cal getting used to being a couple. Nothing too important, but with the festival almost around the corner; I think we all know that things are going to heat up soon enough.
